Woodford park Garden Centre Restaurant in Stockport

I very rarely use the words 'Above & Beyond' these days and it's rare to even hear it said. Today was the exception. We went with friends who live locally and whilst they are frequent visitors, it was our first time. We were greeted into the restaurant by Dave with a very warm welcome and sat at the table with menus to decided what we wanted. I need to be careful with what I choose, as I am awaiting surgery and need to steer clear of certain things, including Gluten. Our server came over, I found out she was called Morgan, and started taking our order. I asked if they had Gluten free bread, which they had, so we placed our order. Morgan was extremely friendly and professional, in a very natural way, but what she did next blew my mind and indeed, the people I was with. She had clearly listened to my requirements, as she came back to tell me that the sausage contained Gluten in the recipe. She had clearly gone away with the order and instead of just being robotic and placing the order with the kitchen, she actively made a point of my needs, hence her return to mention the sausages. I did inform her I was happy with the gluten in the sausages, but she made sure of this by asking me twice, just to make sure I was completely happy. For me, Morgan went Above & Beyond, it was so refreshing and my friends, regular visitors to Garden Centre agreed. The food was great and in general a very relaxing and unassuming place to meet for drinks and/or food. In short, Dave, thank you for the warm welcome. The kitchen staff, thank you for the great food and attention to details. Finally, a massive shout out to Morgan, you went 'Above & Beyond', thank you for being, well, Morgan. Oh, I guess I should thank our dear friends Pat & Annette too, they did introduce us to the place, thank you.

The hot jacket potato was only warm and had a few black patches and the actual filling was cold. I have not been there for a while and will not be going again. Service is also slow and felt extremely sorry for a table nearby who had young children and it took more than 2 hours to be served. Diabolical. Big NO.

On the whole we enjoyed today's visit with our little granddaughter and Cairn Terrier Duncan. The positives - fantastic Christmas displays and stock, and we love that the store is dog friendly! Pleasant staff, a gorgeous selection of hot drinks and reasonably priced food. The cakes are amazing too and my luxury white hot chocolate was yummy - wish it had marshmallows too! The biggest issue for us is the dog friendly cafe. We visited on a cold Autumn day to find every single dog friendly table in the cafe occupied by people without a dog! This meant we were forced to sit outside alone in the cold with our 8 month old grandchild whilst those without a dog sat nice and cosy inside! What a rubbish system! Why not tell people that if someone comes in with a dog, they will have to give up their table and move to the restaurant. That's fair enough, surely? Luckily for us we kept checking and a dog friendly table became available so we quickly grabbed it. All the time we were there, not one dog owner occupied any of the half dozen tables so I appreciate dog visits may be rare, but please accommodate us when we do. The two guys next to us talked boring business blah blah for well over an hour without even a drink, hogging the dog friendly table they had. People are inconsiderate and selfish very often, so Notcutts need to look after us dog owners better. Please sort this out Notcutts, it's an unfair system which disadvantages your dog owning clientele. Especially in the colder months.

Excellent food, friendly staff. But please Nottcutts could u provide some chairs for people when queuing for the restaurant. My Mum was struggling today whilst waiting in the queue. Thank you

Nice salad as in lots of chicken but too many salad leaves and cucumber and not enough other ingredients!! My friend had super salad with halumi as extra which was hard and she had difficulty cutting . My berry drink nice but please don't serve in a jam jar and a straw . Why ?? Also we asked for a jug of tap water for the tsble and got 2 glasses of water . Shortage of water in Woodford ? Service ok and place nice but won't rush back

Friendly helpful staff Nice surroundings and nice weather can fit outside . We come here regularly for tea coffee and scones . Have a walk around the outside nature trial area with the pond and ducks plus all the other little areas for creatures It’s very pleasant . The garden centre its self is well maintained with good quality plants . The shops are reasonable priced and done ni r good items to buy

Served with hard fried eggs on toast. Friend had undercooked bacon when she requested well done. Had to seek out staff member to resolve. Was given chipped glass! Very sad.

My friend and I were served by Nichola . She took our order and ensured everything was beyond adequate. She was extremely friendly ,continuously had a smile, engaging and delivered delightful customer service. 100% uplifted our visit to Notcutts. - Service was slow in regards to the drinking making. We had to wait awhile before they arrived (only two hot drinks) . Nichola chased up and then they came immediately.

Once again I’m very disappointed with the bedding plants I bought. for the second year running. I purchased Nemesia plants, before that variegated Ivy (2) all of which looked good for one week then faded and in the case of Nemesia wilted despite tender loving care. I consider self a competent gardener but will not be buying from this garden centre again.

Lovely lunch in the restaurant, nice new menu; food served quickly despite restaurant being busy. Helpful staff, especially Kathryn who was friendly & advised some food recommendations, food was really nice and well presented, will definitely return.

Visited again for lunch today……….yummy, I ate off the specials menu, brioche bun with pork, stuffing , apple sauce and lettuce plus roast potatoes and a small gravy pot. For a garden centre restaurant the food is top drawer and the staff are polite and hard working whenever I’m in there. The negative comments you read on here are almost always from customers who are rude, have no manners, impatient and think they are doing you a favour………clear off I say. To the staff, keep up the good work, excellent job, will be back for more and as always recommend to friends.

Been a few times as we are local and it's always a lovely place to visit with great atmosphere and fast, friendly service. On our most recent visit we were served by Kathryn, she was very knowledgeable about the menu and really helpful with making recommendations. The food was served quickly and was great quality as usual.

Returned to this restaurant after lockdown and had a very average breakfast with over cooked bacon and hash brown with warm beans. (obviously been stood on the hot plate too long ).I returned again today for lunch, my fish & chips were over cooked and the peas were lukewarm. They just can’t seem to get it right, long queues, long waits and food that’s never very hot and there is no organisation with who they serve in order of arrival. I know things are difficult at the moment and we all have to make some allowances, but poorly cooked and warm food is no excuse. I will NOT be renewing my notcutts membership and would definitely not be returning to the restaurant for food. The one big plus point ( and would give them 5*+ ) is for the very hardworking and polite staff, who are always run off there feet. It’s a lovely spacious restaurant and they are doing a good job with the social distances rules, there’s just not enough staff and it is definitely not good value for money.

Absolute rubbish. The one way system is difficult for one who is partially disabled who chooses not to use a wheel chair. No scones left. Who has heard of afternoon tea without scones. Also on the way through a member of staff was very abrupt saying That is just the way it is. Appauling!!!!

I will not be renewing membership. Lost months of coffees and meals without any goodwill compensation. Now coffees and meal benefits removed from renewal.Should at least offer the free coffees in the self service area.Real shame. No loyalty for long standing customers.Been going for many years and bought many plants and gifts from the shop area.

Since the restaurant re opened we have been for breakfast and lunch. Everything has been thought through to make diners feel relaxed and safe. Tables well spaced etc. Food very good breakfast and lunch .

Top marks to all staff covid hygiene was first class as was our meal of fish and chips. Prompt service and served piping hot. Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and recommend if you are worried about safety you need not be as their precautions are excellent.

I have always enjoyed a superb meal at Notcutts, just complement the whole Garden Centre. My only downside is that it is not closer to where I live. Thoroughly recommend the fish and chips.

Well-managed queuing. Work-related tables. Staff wore masks or visors. Food was placed on the end of our table, leaving us to serve ourselves safely but staff leant across to serve our drinks.We enjoyed the food and the setting and shall probably return. A good effort but it could easily be made very good.

We visited the restaurant at Nottcutts Woodford Park today as a treat before my daughter leaves for university. We had to queue for about 20 mins to get a table but didn't mind because it was lovely weather - it would have been different if it had been raining.We had to wait another 30 mins for our food to arrive, my daughter had to ask if there was anything available for vegans (there was nothing on the menu) and was given the single choice of a vegan burger and I opted for a baked potato with cheese. The potato was hard and bad inside and when I mentioned it to the waitress she seemed uninterested. It was also a shame they served the potato with cheap margarine rather than butter.We had to wait another 20 mins to get the bill, the staff seem reluctant to make eye contact wuth customers maybe for fear of having to deal with complaints but it's frustrating.This was our 2nd visit to this restaurant and we experienced poor service and average food the 1st time but decided to give it another try. Needless to say we won't be back again.
