This was the perfect venue for a lovely sunny summer Birthday! Beautiful view across the lake and outside tables also available. Excellent menu and beautifully presented meals, all delicious. Very generous portions. Such a friendly venue, our lovely waitress Lucy went the extra mile to make sure it was a perfect Birthday lunch. Nothing was too much trouble for her. All the staff were personable nd welcoming. We enjoyed coffee on the terrace after our meal. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend. Thank you!

Lovely Sunday lunch until dessert. Desserts werebrought to the table created by the chef which were not on the menu. The excuse when challenged was that they had run out. (Prior to this the chef attempted to say they were correct) at no time had anyone come out prior to advise the order would be changed without consultation. The lady who served us was lovely and said the chef was in charge - he was the cause of the issue but never came out to discuss. - in restaurants it’s the chef who orders the ingredients. Very poor. due to this half the table got desserts that weren’t ordered. There was an offer of reduction from the bill which was accepted but the bitter pill left from the chef attempting to say they were accurate is slightly disturbing. unfortunately for him some of us work in the hospitality industry so we know what a mocha is and also who orders the ingredients prior to table sittings.

Spur of the moment. Booked by phone 2 hours before. Visited several times before. Enjoyed the meal, excellent risotto seafood meal. Busy but welcoming and prompt service.

Excellent recommended. We were greeted in a friendly and accommodating way, and provision was made for our nervous rescue dog ( table placement, bowl of water). We were seated outside on a sunny terrace overlooking Chew Valley Lake. The service was quick and the servers were knowledgeable about the food and friendly. We enjoyed our food (crab salad and Cornish Sole).

What an experience a truly beautiful setting overlooking Chew Valley lake! The breakfast matched the setting all local and free range ingredients the staff were attentive and helpful from greeting us on the door serving our delicious food tea and fresh juice to wishing us well when we left I wish I could heap more praise!

It is the location that makes this place so good: right by Chew Valley lake, with a terrace where you can eat your meal and enjoy the yachts sailing around. The food was generally good and service was great, but the vegetarian option was lacklustre.

Went for Sunday lunch. Very busy but had booked. Service was poor, after waiting half an hour for our meals we pointed out that several tables had been served who had arrived after us. As if by magic our food arrived- where had it been sitting all that time? We also had to work hard to get them to agree to allowing a teenager who was reluctant to eat to have a starter and dessert - and paying £26 for these was a bit much to say the least! We also had to order our desserts at the beginning - very unusual. The roasts were ok but all piled on top of the veg and swimming with gravy. The childrens roast chicken huge. It came with a yorkshire pudding, the adult one didn't so that was extra! The childrens dessert far too large for a child, and very expensive, as was the whole experience. The crab was excellent but £4 extra! We had a lovely seat in the window but noticed the interior seats were pretty dark and uninspiring layout. To top a disappoitning experience we were hammered with 12.5% manadatory service charge. I know within rights to challenge but not one to make a scene so coughed up reluctantly. If the service hadnt been so awful it wouldnt have been so bad.

An excellent place. My wife and I had lunch here today. She had the chicken and I the tuna. Both dishes were outstanding. The staff are lovely. What's not to like?

What a view to stop and have breakfast, onlooking the lake and all the boats this place has everything going for it but for me the breakfast just did not wow…. Nothing was really stand out compared to other restaurants in the near by vicinity, and I felt like everything was lukewarm at best, it’s such a shame as I really wanted this to be a good breakfast because of how amazing the view is but it let it down slightly :(

Dropped in around 13:15 one day. Only wanted something like coffee and cake (both of which they had) rather than a big lunch. Plenty of tables outside, so wasn't expecting a problem. Was told, in a very abrupt way, that this simple service wasn't possible during lunchtime and that we'd have to come back after 14:30. Amazed to be turned away when it would have been easy to provide a service. Won't be going back - good riddance to 'em and the sooner a service-oriented business tales over this excellent location the better.

Came here for afternoon tea with my family for my dad’s 90th. Cant recommend it enough. The food was amazing. So much sandwiches and gorgeous cake, we were beaten by it. The staff were really lovely and attentive. The perfect venue.

Oh My God! I have just heard about 'The Woodford Words', a pathetic attempt at some kind of customer centric mantra I assume? "A warm welcome every time" "Nothing is too much trouble". "When people visit, they get what they want without any fuss" The list of stomach churning tosh goes on.....but just look at the poor reviews. Went here the other day for coffees and was told we couldn't sit by the lake unless we were eating. We could only sit up by 'the shed' if we only wanted drinks! Went here again today after the 4 mile walk that starts at Woodford Lodge and asked for coffees. This time a girl told us to come back later as they wanted to clear the food orders first?! 'The shed' was closed therefore no drinks available there, so that's why we came the few feet to the lodge and after all we were paying customers whether we were eating or not. There are no signs to say 'food only'. As we left I heard the same girl ask a couple who were sitting down if they would.like any drinks. I asked her why she had offered them drinks, but not us. "They are eating" she said. They were only looking at the menu, that's all. I asked her again for drinks and she simply said she couldn't as " it's management rules". I have never heard such rubbish and welcome a 'management' response to confirm that they discriminate between drinkers and eaters at will. Who knows, we may well have ordered some food too? (August 2024 - I posted this some months ago now and still no words from the spineless 'management'.)

Can't speak highly enough about the team at the Woodford Lodge. We held our wedding reception here at the weekend and everything was perfect. The food was amazing quality with all of our guest commenting on how delicious it all was and the service was fantastic. In the build up to the wedding Jennifer and the team couldn't have been any more accommodating and helpful and they did everything we wanted perfectly. The setting on the lake is also absolutely idyllic.

I attended my grandson’s wedding at the weekend and the venue was amazing, beautiful scenery and very helpful staff. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.xx

Very unwelcoming. Was told to we could not sit on the premises as it might get busy (it did not). It was not even half full! Seeing as we'd travelled far, we did concede to have a takeaway although we didn't feel that we wanted to stay. We waited a long time for our coffees and cakes as the staff were slow. Really unhappy with how we were treated. Very rude.

Walk ins not welcome in the restaurant. We made an hour round trip to go here for coffee/ cake and drinks at 3:15pm but we’re told we could not be seated without a reservation, only get takeaway coffee from the portahut outside. It was not very busy with lots of tables available inside and out and others tucking into cream teas. Waitress was rude and when I said we would happily get food she said those sitting inside had also eaten a full lunch. Apparently 24 hour notice on bookings is needed even for cake and coffee! None of this information available on their website, screen grab attached. Giving 2 stars as we tried to make the best of it with the family we had visiting by having ice creams and a little walk as no benches were available and this was pleasant because of the views and weather. Very disappointing and rude service, a shame we couldn’t even sample the cakes, pictures and drinks in these other pictures.

1st time here it was reccomend by a friend. Staff were lovely and efficient but also friendly. Its dog friendly sitting around the back overlooking the lake which was lovely as a nice day they had lots of bowls of water for the dogs. The menu was good and plenty to choose from, the also had tea, coffee, soft drinks and alcohol. Everything was very clean and tidy and wiped down after the table had been used

Met a friend for a dog walk, followed by lunch. Weather wasn't brilliant but we were still very comfortable under the canopy on the terrace. Food was excellent and staff were very attentive. Plus my dog was made very welcome with treats and fresh water. It was my 1st visit and I will definitely return (hopefully on a sunny day!)

Had to wait 20 minutes to be seen by someone by the ‘please wait here sign’. It was 3:30 and I asked if we could have some bar snacks and sit outside with a drink. I was told sorry we aren’t serving food… Are you closing soon? No… ok can I sit outside and have a drink? No we don’t do drinks, only with food. Very strange to turn two people away… very rude and not worth visiting along a walking path. Popped over to Salt & Malt who were very welcoming and friendly ☺️

10/10 cannot complain staff and chef went above and beyond offering multiple coloured cutlery and plates for my child was a great extra and the chef custom making a garlic mayo from scratch for no extra payment!! Some of the best food I've had in a while will definitely return and highly recommend.

Had a really good experience here, atmosphere great looking over the lake, service good and a delicious lunch of fishcakes. To top it off, good coffee, which in my opinion is often not the case.

On arrival no one greeted even though it wasn’t busy and they seen us arrive, once we seated we wasn’t told wether we had to go up and order or they come to the table after being sat for some time I went and enquired and was just told “someone would be out” he comes out without any paper or pads and just took the order off the top his head, of course he got this wrong and missed things we ordered, after that he went not taking drinks order witch again I had to go and ask if we could order a drink once again he got this wrong too, Food was amazing! Such a lovely place just feel staff need to be trained a bit more to actually work and not stand around

Walked over on Easter Sunday with - 4 adults 2 dogs and a baby - daughter in law pregnant. Went to sit outside and go in for teas / coffees as we had previously to be brusquely turned away - and told to wait for shack to open. No one was sat on the outside seats and shack not open! Wont be coming back - you were a very rude man !!!

Awful experience. What was meant to be a lovely brunch turned into a completely unnecessary argument. My breakfast order was forgotten, arrived 15 mins after my wife’s and was wrong. I re-ordered the poached eggs (as originally ordered) to replace the fried egg. When the bill came, I was charged for both. There was then a really uncomfortable debate with the (lovely) waitress. It’s a £2 egg we were debating so hardly worth the massive scene but sometimes there’s a matter of principle. A disorganised restaurant can’t charge to replace a wrong order with the right one! I don’t think I’m the first to suffer at the hands of belligerent staff at The Woodford as I’ve heard similar stories of other diners who have been treated with disdain. It will certainly be my last though.

Fabulous place to eat right on Chew Lake, with panoramic views. Went for Sunday roast and the food was excellent, lovely big portions. Very friendly and helpful staff even though they were very busy. Will definitely be back.

Staff here were incredibly rude, didn't accommodate guests waiting at the door at all. They could not cope with the restaurant being busy & had no manners!! Need to learn how to speak nicely to their customers. Definitely DO NOT recommend this place. I wouldn't even rate it 1 star!

Had a beautiful breakfast with 3 friends on a Friday morning. The full English breakfast was delicious and reasonably priced. One friend had the veggie breakfast & the another had the fruit pancakes. Both looked amazing. It did get busy and obviously it’s very popular. Quick & attentive service from the staff in a lovely setting. It was such a nice sunny morning with a great view of the lake. Excellent first visit.

Myself and my partner came for a wonderful two course lunch on New Year's Eve, the roast beef was some of the best we have had. The location is absolutely beautiful. The service from Lucy was amazing she was so lovely and friendly. We will definitely return.

What a beautiful place this is. We were planning on visiting here with a friend the other day, it looked expensive, but it ended up being worth it for sure. Food was incredible, views were incredible, service was incredible. Just...incredible.

Lovely lunch with family yesterday, food was delicious, atmosphere delightful, view stunning. And our lovely waitress Sharon looked after us so well, she was so attentive to all our needs. Had an all round lovely lunch. Thank you 🤩

Lovely veggie breakfast, well prepared and lots of it. Excellent views out over the water and plenty of boating fun to watch whilst having a cheeky breakfast cocktail.

As my sister and I arrived got greeted by middle age stressed looking man with glasses. He asked if we have reservations, my sister said no we don’t. She asked if we could go in but he said: NO you can’t go in! Without any explanation he just disappeared inside the restaurant. We both left. I am a disabled person who uses crutches and I have never been anywhere where a staff a so indifferent and callus!! This is simply how this afternoon your staff breached a Disability Act on all counts! I will make sure that all my family, friends, associates and anyone I know - knows how your staff treated a disabled person on your premises!

Little gem next to the lake! Brilliant dining experience the food are very tasty, wide range of options, staff are friendly and helpful. The lentil veggie burger, Chicken liver pate, beef roast with Yorkshire pudding and the Cornish mussels are really good. Burger a bit dry but basically most dishes taste wonderful. Banoffee pie as well. Lovely view to the lake and good stroll after the meal. reasonable prices and lovely ambience. Would recommend this to my friends and colleagues for a day out.

Been a few times - booked by others! It's very popular. Personally I feel it's like sitting in a school dinning hall lacking any intimate atmosphere. Food is ok but a tad expensive for what it is service is good. It main attraction is it's view across the lake although it faces east I think because the sun can glare through onto the tables and be a bit intense. Chose your table carefully to suit time of day, and year. It's setting is lovely parking was free although it has been charged the past. Enjoyed time there with friends but wouldn't be my personal first choice. There is disabled access

Excellent all round staff couldn't do enough for us party of 20. We booked in advance and seeing how busy it gets I would advise anyone book ahead. Will visit again great for special occasions.
