Woodcutters Bar & Grill in Staffordshire Moorlands

Mediocre food, unwelcoming atmosphere & no service as they insist you order on the app regardless. Venue closes an hour before the park closes & customers/nuisances are literally turned away in droves.

I expected the food to be of a fairly poor standard as all theme park food is pretty poor. However, this was worse than expected! The food is clearly pre-cooked and reheated. But not heated properly and was barely lukewarm. One of the worst meals I’ve ever been served. I know they have a captive audience but this is unacceptable.

Looking at the reviews for all park restaurants we were stuck where to eat, my son picked this one, easy to order with QR code, food came quick, although not hot it was ok, with Annual Pass discount it was a good value option.

Although the food wasn’t amazing and overpriced we were served by a young lady (with Blue hair) she was friendly, chatty and helpful. She made the experience so much nicer.

Shocking, half an hour for my half pint lager in a cask glass, service terrible, table dirty, food shocking!! We had to ask for our table to be wiped down after we were shown were to sit, the cutlery on the table was dirty, they took this away when asked but didn’t replace, as we waiting, I watched the staff do very little, spraying half a table where someone had sat, they didn’t replace the cutlery next to them that had been in the mount of a baby!! I had to get up and ask for cutlery, when it came out I decided to eat with my hands! My wife had to get up for tomato sauce! I get it’s busy but that is no excuse to let your standards hit rock I bottom, day light robbery. Please see pic of my £14 chicken burger.

The interior was fine, staff were nice. The food however was overpriced and not great quality. Small portions also. Would recommend bringing your own food to places such as Aton Towers as the food provided is rarely value for money. Wouldn’t return.

Visited lunchtime 2/8/24, went in at 11.20am we wer the only people in the restaurant ordered and got the food at 12.20 after six other tables were served first for some reason. My sirloin steak supposed to be medium was cremated but the mushroom was raw missing onion rings and salad. I complained and was offered a full refund, my daughter paid on Apple Pay the manager took details but when payment was received only my food was refunded not the whole bill as promised the manager lied. We missed an hour in the park and still not eaten, the service and food here is terrible. Tried to get hold of someone about the refund but you cannot speak so emailed on the complaint form ten days on no cantact has been made avoid this restaurant it wail spoil your visit to Alton Towers.

We went here for some lunch yesterday and it was absolutely disgusting. Both me and my partner ordered a burger and it was horrible. Literally no flavour at all, just a big ball of mince meat. We both had one bite and didn't eat anymore. We even overheard a man sat behind us saying how horrible the burger was and he had felt ill after a couple of bites. The service was also bad. We got told to sit down and scan the QR code to order... the signal in Alton Towers is terrible so neither me or my partner had signal to order, I asked at the bar if I could order there and I was told only cash at the bar? Even though there were card payment machines right in front of me. After we finally managed to order on our phone, an older couple came in and sat near us, we could hear they were also having trouble with the signal and ordering online so asked a member of staff if they could order at the bar, they said yes.. (no mention of cash only) they went to the bar and placed their order and paid by card!!!! How can it be one rule for one customer and another rule for other. I get that places like that are expensive but jeezz was it expensive! It was £7.50 for a pint of beer!!!! It cost us £50 and we left hungry because the food was too horrible to eat. All I can advise is ... TAKE A PICNIC!

Woodcutters Bar & Grill has been a staple of our visits to Alton Towers for years, the food is really filling with great portions and the price isn’t too expensive (for being inside a popular visitor attraction) but it wasn’t until our most recent visit that we met Ruth. We’ve never received such fantastic service, she was incredibly helpful, friendly and enthusiastic and went the extra mile to make sure we had the meals exactly how we wanted with any changes and adjustments given promptly to the kitchen with ease. Ruth you are an absolute credit to the establishment and Alton Towers as a whole

I was appalled at the price of the kids goujons as it was £9 for 2 goujons and 12 chips. This was really outrageous and I will not be returning. To think I’ve paid for entry into the park and can’t even get decent food.

Great food our server Ludo was so great and amazing hospitality. Would eat here again :) he was very welcoming and ensured our experience was one to remember, keep up the Fantastic work and thank you for making our dining experience a pleasant one !

Was served by a lovely person called Ludo, they made us feel really welcome with a friendly smile upon entering the restaurant and was so attentive throughout. Great staff make a restaurant worth a another visit 👌

Visited for lunch on the Saturday of fireworks. Despite reading the huge bad comments in social media regarding the new catering supplier that Alton Towers now has we decided to give it a try. The food was served fresh to our table had lots of flavour and the staff were extremely friendly. Please don’t listen to moaners and the karens you will enjoy it here. Thanks to all the staff.

Waited outside in the rain for 15 minutes and it was pouring it down WITH TABLES SPARE!. Staff stood around talking whilst we were all in a queue, just for them to say, “take a seat over there” The first couple in the que even turned around and went! Someone else had to grab a member of staff who was talking inside to ask them when we would be seated. When we got to the table, there wasn’t enough cutlery and the table was sticky. We ordered our food and drink straight away and we can’t complain about the food, we had a burger and the surf n’ turf. Although, it took them 30 minutes to bring us our coke and sprite as they continued to talk around the bar and look unbothered. Then, whilst eating, tables around us had left after eating, only for the staff to not clean up their tables for AN HOUR!… Leading to a couple, who were trying to find seating, walking back out because the tables still had plates and leftovers there. It was very unappealing and dirty. So unprofessional and just a bunch of young people for staff who don’t know what they’re doing! Manager where are you at?!?!? DO NOT RECOMMEND!

Woodcutters is still a 10/10 for us some of the team are the same even though it’s changed company. Food coming out looks great Team are superb. Much better than the hotel restaurants. Well worth a visit!

Very overpriced, poor quality food, ridiculously slow service and to top it off they can’t even get an order right - how do you miss out bacon from a club sandwich!? Staff all really young with no people skills & stand around talking. You’ll see people queuing for this place but trust me keep on walking!

After reading the reviews we were worried, had changes spoilt the restaurant? It was nice to be welcomed by the staff who we knew last year, and they even remembered our preferences. Everything we ate was good quality and tasty. But I don’t like the chips; I think they’re oven chips. We normally enjoyed garlic bread instead. Some portions are too large for us. Big meals and big coasters don’t mix well :) so we normally shared a main course and a couple of side dishes. We always order at the counter, especially because we have passes and it’s easier to get our discount that way. We love the location, with a great view of Alton Towers ruins. We try to arrive about 11:45am, service is quick, and we were normally eating our meal within 15 minutes. However food is cooked to order, so if anything goes wrong, there will be a delay. On one occasion we waited over 30 minutes for our food. Visiting a theme park is costly (both time and money), so some may prefer a fast food option. Prices are rather high. But we’re paying for table service, and that is a nice relaxing change for us. This is our favourite place to eat at the Towers. We’re relieved with the change of management that it still offers splendid food.

When arrived to our table we were greeted with a dirty sticky table. Asked for it to be cleaned which the waiter did an appalling job of. Still sticky and missed most of the dirt. Food then arrived which is overpriced and not recommended at all. Different waiter then came over to us half way through our meal to which we were all still eating. Asked “are you finished” and sprayed his spit all over one of us and his food. Although it was unintentional it made us get up and leave straight away. Never visiting again.

Service non existant. Staff milling around talking. Waited nearly 40 minutes after ordering. Steak cheap and inedible, chips cold ( sent them back ). Burger full of gristle. Warm horrible Chardonnay £9.80 a glass. One couple left without ordering when they saw our so called meals. Warned another couple before they sat down. Please avoid. Go and get an overpriced hotdog instead at least they looked nice.

The food is well below par food for a chain the size of Merlin. It is clearly cheap produced food which is sold at a massively inflated price. Burgers were dry and lacked flavour and the steak sandwich well over cooked and lacked flavour. The jacket potato was clearly microwaved and had no taste just a mush. Only plus is the chips. The rest wouldn’t make it onto a roadside burger can let alone a sit down restaurant.

Food was fine but told we could have our usual discount of 20% off with Gold Annual Alton Towers pass. Was really embarrassing and awkward as well as ending up more expensive. Member of staff said she had been told in training not to accept it. I was with my daughter and went ahead - didn’t seem fair to have to go somewhere else and start the process of picking our meal and ordering. Didn’t know if we’d be allowed to use the pass anywhere else either. Food ok but not there same when that happens. Doesn’t feel like a good experience. Poor customer service and when I emailed Alton Towers to complain I was told we should have had the discount. AVOID

Terrible staff. Not friendly or helpful at all. Only had a light snack of chips and coleslaw and it wasn’t very good at all. Would advise to choose an alternative place to eat/ drink during your visit to Alton Towers.
