I came to talbot with my mate danny and we decided to have some food so we had some bar snacks and pizzas to share the food was delicious and complements to the chefs claire and joe as was 50% off and the restaurant was busy had little wait but food definitely made up for that thank you will be back again

Popped in for Sunday lunch with family. Really nice surroundings and very nicely appointed inside. Service friendly and prompt and food amazing. Highly recommended!

Lovely meal & brilliant service by Daisy. Chef Ryan. Took advantage of 40% offer off mains, through the Vontage Inns App. Excellent spacious free parking. Atmosphere just nice, with over two thirds full. Overall a very enjoyable experience.

What a smart looking pub, the place was spotless the staff were polite and friendly, the food was great and we didn't have to wait too long and deserts went down well. You can go to the bar and order or sit in the restaurant side for table service. They have outside seating + own car park. Dogs are very welcome

Stopped here with my girlfriend and little pup, during a short weekend away trip. Was pure luck coming across this place and we weren’t disappointed. Beautiful interior, the Sunday roast was superb and Tim went above and beyond serving us :) maybe he deserves a bonus? (I’d give you a bonus Tim)

Wonderful steak pie was eaten by my self last night in the Talbot plenty of vegetables just what you need on a cold winters night . Friendly service as ever . Look forward to visiting again soon.

Came here for dinner last night with the partner, the food was lovely and was presented so well. Our server Daisy, was very accommodating and polite. We loved that we didn’t feel rushed like some places we have been to. Daisy came back to us plenty of times to check everything was great. we are looking forward to our next visit here.

Lovely pub with carpark across the road . Food was overall lovely I recommend the sticky chicken marked down on the food only because the chicken and pencheta pie looked amazing but for me lack of filling( I estimate it to have been 80%puff pastry 20% actual filling ) it was lovely just not enough filling otherwise highly recommend. Staff where pleasant from the moment we walked in and no big waits for food or drinks definitely go again

Plenty of space in the car park opposite the pub. We were in the dog friendly area. Nice welcome on arrival and taken to a table by the fire. Drinks came in a timely manner. Food was hot and delicious and portion size was such we didn't need dessert. Daisy came several times to make sure all was good.

We were served today by Tim, we regularly visit the talbot and always have a lovely experience. This is the first time we have met Tim and he was super friendly and approachable. Nothing was too much trouble. Perfect timing between each course. Again a lovely experience and will continue to visit soon.

This friendly pub who welcomes dogs and walkers all year round to come and drink in there cosy pub. On Christmas day greed got the better of them and the pub turned all the people that wanted to pop for a festive drink away. If they was not eating them they didn't want to serve them. I am still speechless. You can't treat customers this way. I will not be returning.

Ate there this evening, the service was horrendous. We had to wait an hour & me asking for them to clear our plates before they were cleared. Its never taken over 3 hours to eat a main & dessert before. There was 7 of us & meals & desserts did not come out together so we never ate together. The desserts came out 1 by 1 without the cultery, then there want enough. No service for drinks until it was too late. The quality of the food was under par, my son couldn't cut his gammon it was that tough. Very expensive for the type & quality really.

Must try harder! Having lived locally for 20 years the pub has a hit and miss reputation. Food is on the right side of good (a little bit overpriced for the quality, but reasonable offers/discounts are common), service is well below par but it's a warm comfortable place which has a good atmosphere. It SHOULD be a quintessential country pub. And it could be if the team were better trained in hospitality. In summary, OK (just ok), if you know what to expect. But there's bags of potential. Has been for 20 years.

What a lovely evening from start to finish. From a lovely warm welcome, warm log fire, great food and fantastic service from Rachel and all the team. So nice to see a local doing so well on a very cold Thursday night. We all loved our good, the beef pie was delicious. Busy night but staff couldn’t do enough to make sure everyone had a great time. Visited many times over the years. It's had ups and downs but in recent times it's very good, not the cheapest around but the food is usually very good. Had two mains at January promotional 50% off this evening which brought the price down to Wetherspoons territory! Lamb shank and fish n chips, the lamb was as good as I've tasted. Service very good as usual.

We came for dinner tonight as a post Christmas can’t be bothered to cook night after our first day back at work. What a lovely warm welcome we received! Ryan the new manager seems to have really settled in and got the place looking fab. The service was perfect and the food was super yum. Thanks for a lovely cosy night. Will be back again very soon!

Waited 1hr for food i asked for medium to well done on my stake witch was pink (rare) and asked for beef dripping sauce and received peppercorn sauce.. well disappointing service 😒

Food and service was fantastic start to finish! We went on New Year’s Eve for lunch and the staff were lovely and attentive. The Talbot used to be hit and miss in the past but since their newest manager Ryan has taken over, he’s completely turned it around. Very satisfied and will be returning again and again!

Only really gave 3 stars because it doesn't really need a lot of work to get everything has it should be. Needs someone to just organise the place. But think I'll give it a miss for a good while. Shame

Excellent food, service and atmosphere!

Had a superb Christmas day dinner. We were seated quickly and our drinks order was taken. Our preselected 3 course menu was double checked before our starters were served. All delicious 😋 Then our mains were brought out. My husband and son had the beef wellington and it was absolutely cooked to perfection. We were a family of 5 and we all polished off our meals. Again superb. The desserts were amazing The staff were attentive and helpful. No complaints at all with anything. So much so we will definitely be returning for christmas day next year.

Great service from Steph, food was fantastic. It was quiet when we got there and they stoked the fire a bit too much which left the room a bit Smokey but it was a lovely Xmas eve meal with my mum! Will definitely be back thank you!

I’ve been to the Talbot several times over the last year for the monthly Pub quizzes they hold. The atmosphere is always great at the Talbot, as is the service from friendly, professional staff. Me and my friends have eaten here as well and the food is always top-notch, with a great menu, and the prices are very reasonable. Overall, a great pub that I would highly recommend!

Unfortunately 1 star the lowest option, otherwise I would have opted for less. We have visited tonight, in a group for a Christmas meal. We arrived at 19:00 and didn’t get given a menu until 19:45, so started off on a bad note to begin with. Two people out of our group booking ordered a starter which came at 20:05, which was fine. Once the starters had finished we waited an additional 1 hour 40 for our mains. Having been told when we ordered the wait was 45 minutes. We asked one for the waitress’s if they had any update on where the meals were which she stated she’d go and find out, little to our amazement she never returned to our table for the rest of the evening. Upon speaking to the manager, about our concerns and complaint, he said that she’d gone home. We then went to the bar to ask due to this waitress not coming back and they assured us that our meals were due to be sent out after the next tables. The food arrived eventually, at separate times, most of it cold and missing sides which were stated that came with the meal on the menu. A few of us had the turkey dinner, the roast potato’s were like bricks. We sent some of the food back to be warmed, which they did. One of our parties mains came out once we had all finished our mains. We planned to have the 2 course meal yet nobody had time or wanted to order their desserts as we would have well and truly been waiting until Christmas for them. We felt like our group was being ignored due to the lack of communication with some of the staff. We also asked for condiments on multiple occasions which never arrived. Left feeling disappointed, and most importantly hungry. I wouldn’t entertain wasting your money and/or time visiting this establishment until they sort out how to run the place and deal with the general public. Poor from the beginning until the end.

As a resident of the town we don't visit the Talbot often as the service is usually very slow, unorganised, chaotic and the food OK at best. We had seen that management had been installed so we though we give it another go, hoping there was finally somewhere decent in Biddulph to eat as like most of Stoke on Trent / North Staffordshire including Biddulph is a culinary black hole. Well, I can report the experience is worse than before. I booked a table in the dining room as one of my party has dog allergies, we ended up in the dog friendly area. I complained and we were moved to the booked area, not the table was not cleaned or set. Not to worry, the waitress came over and gave me 6 sets of cutlery so I could set the table myself (there were 4 of us). Before I could say anything she wondered off. Quite unusually for the Talbot our order was taken quickly and the adults mains arrived in around 30 minutes (this is extremely fast for the Talbot) but it would seem Chef had never seen not eaten a lasagne in their life. One half pure bechamel, the other ragu, odd.... The waitress (who was very polite) advised us the childrens food would be right out. 12 minutes after the adults meals appeared the childrens food appeared, it would seem Chef has also never had pizza either as toppings only covered 25% of the surface area. We complained to the waitress, concious she'd also taken complaints from other tables around us as I'd seen several dishes sent back to the kitchen. The deputy manager appeared, whilst polite couldn't have cared less and offered no discount for the omni shambles we'd just experienced. The cost of this one course/one drink farce? £68. Will I be back? No, which is a shame as other vintage inns are so much better than this one.

Really nice evening at Talbot, the atmosphere was perfect for a cosy evening and a festive atmosphere. Chef Gu Gu cooked the meals to perfection, really great flavour. Our server Daisy serviced with a smile and looked at us, catering to any needs we had. Highly recommended for a great meal :)
