Went for the traditional breakfast. Big portion size, lovely food and service. Smaller breakfast is an option aswell :) Highly recommend!

Amazing breakfast and for the price it can’t be beaten. You can have the continental along with cooked breakfast which includes refillable orange juice and hot drinks. Been here a few times for breakfast and for lunch and just can’t fault it. Barbara our breakfast waitress is so pleasant and very helpful.

Had Sunday lunch with a friend today.The service was poor and when finally got out roast beef lunch...looked pretty on the plate BUT just one slice of beef on the tough side cabbage was awful and half a carrot a couple ?roast potatoes..not particularly nice at all, at a cost of £20!Did complain but to no avail!! Would not recommend or go back,totally disappointed.

We have just had one of the most loveliest breakfasts & great value, I would highly recommend, full English was very tasty indeed, staff were very welcoming & friendly, and the dining room was a lovely setting.

Held my fathers 90th afternoon tea buffet at the Woodcote today. What an absolutely lovely afternoon evening. Nothing was too much trouble, food was outstanding, scotch eggs were amazing. All of the family commented on how lovely everything was. Can highly recommended Thank you

The portions here are very generous and the food freshly cooked. The garlic mushroom starter was like a main course. We were a party of 12 and the service was excellent. I personally did not like the rarebit with bacon - it had too much pepper and mustard. The desserts were well presented.

This place has been refurbished, the pictures don’t do it justice. Quiet but expect it will get busier as people start to visit. Lovely decor and good basic food. Yes

I was with a group of about 80 diners the middle of December. A very good varied menu. We were all served at the same time, never having to wait for a meal. The meal was served hot. Plenty of ver pleasant staff. We will return.

Been several times for lunch , Sunday dinner and afternoon tea. Cannot praise the food enough. I am gluten free and my dietary requirements are easily catered for, without any issues. The refurbishment is fabulous. Staff and atmosphere is brilliant. Cannot recommend enough.

Visited a few times during the refurbishment and now it's complete it's simply stunning. Food has been consistently good, and prices are really good for the quality. Booze prices decent too. They have a small kids menu in addition to what's on their website. 5*

Firstly got to say the chef is amazing cooked our steaks to perfection the manager Laura fabby the staff are attentive and extremely good I have no idea why this place ain't packed every weekend but it isn't and I really don't know why the ambiounce is superb and the food is to die for don't get it and will never understand but there we go fantastic just go even in the lovely bar fabby

Four of us go out for lunch together about once a month. Last Friday we went to the Woodcote Hotel. I had never been here before. We got a very warm welcome and were shown to the dining room on the right as we entered the premises. After drinks, we ordered food, three of us had the French trimmed Chicken and one had 8oz Ribeye steak. Two of us had sweets one Plum and apple tart and I had my usual Ice cream. Everything about the food was excellent tasty, enough for lunch, and nobody seemed to be over faced. The main point which really impressed me was how clinically clean everywhere seemed to be. The toilets, in particular, were squeeky clean which is really appreciated.

We held our baby shower at the Woodcote in November. We had a lovely afternoon tea and the staff and the food were both excellent. Thank you x x

Sunday lunch - good quality lean roast beef. Superb choice of side vegetables fabulous kale, leeks, carrots & mange tout made a nice change. Too many restaurants/gastro pubs insist on giving mushy carrots and broccoli with Sunday roast so eating vegetables that still taste of something was great. Actual gravy not oxo in water. Excellent roast potatoes. Good Yorkshire pud. Meat very flavoursome. Overall real food cooked well tasting great!

We had booked for a family Sunday lunch whilst attending a friends birthday celebration in the main room. The place has had a makeover from our last visit and is now decorated in a more contemporary style. We had a mixture of starters with the wild mushrooms being very good. All had the roast beef which came back cooked as we asked for. We did on booking ask for additional veg which was served in a large dish and was plenty for the five of us. The meals were piping hot and delicious. I can also Reccomend the sticky toffee pudding . We were the first in at half twelve but was near full by half one and made it an enjoyable atmosphere. Will visit again in the new year.

The food in this hotel is excellent, there is a good choice on the menu and all food is home cooked and served hot. The hotel also have another converted barn restaurant just a few miles in the village where the food is amazing.

We attended a function here but rather than being in the restaurant room we were in the function room. This was nice bright and airy (clearly recently decorated) leading off into a very nice garden area.

Called ad hoc for a last minute Sunday lunch... Oh my what a treat we had. Restaurant was quiet. But the food was fabulous. It is a hidden gem. Word should get out about their Sunday roasts. Gluten free was not a problem.. Will be back.

We have just eaten here tonight as we are having our wedding reception here in February. I was a bit anxious as we are both very critical and have high expectations. We love great food and have been very fortunate to eat in some great places around the world. We decided to have our reception here because of its connection to The Wheatsheaf in Raby. It's got a great reputation and that mattered to us. The staff have all been lovely and helpful and tonight's meal just confirmed we made the right choice. The food was amazing. We shared the fig and beetroot starter and pear and apple crumble (both lovely). I had the hake and it was absolutely divine. Seriously gorgeous. We didn't even find it expensive with wine and a couple of beers. Go now because once people find out about it, you may not get a table. So pleased we're having our special day here, we can't wait to treat our guests.

We stayed overnight in the hotel and after seeing the excellent views of the restaurant decided to eat here too. We weren't disappointed.

Yo recomendaría este hotel como un pequeño trocito de cielo escondido en el Wirral. . . Pero no te pierdas. Alguien especial para el té de la tarde, porque puedes estar seguro de que te hacen sentir especial. Increíble casa pasteles recién horneados y bollos, innumerables cantidad de té y café y un personal atento que entregar genuina servicio excepcional - nada es demasiado problema! Mi compañero y yo nos alojamos en este hotel la semana pasada. Debido a un largo viaje en tren llegamos tarde por la noche y recibido la bienvenida más hospitalaria de la nueva gestión del hotel que nos ofreció una bebida gratis en el bar. El servicio que recibimos fue absolutamente fantástico, nada era demasiado problema y el gerente del hotel, incluso nos llevó a nuestro destino al día siguiente. Un placer alojarse aquí y recomendaría este hotel a otros.

I visit here every year with my school reunion of about 12 ladies.We are always well received and patiently served as some times different things are requested and provided without any trouble.This time I choose creamy mushrooms on ciabatta followed by a goats cheese and rhubarb tart , so delicious that I made it at home the following week.The surroundings are very pleasant and the price affordable.

Took my mum for afternoon tea yesterday, she was so delighted from start to finish a young lady greeted us with a smile and was so attentive. The sandwiches full of tasty fillings and cakes to die for as well as macaroons, brownies,raspberry pannacotta and scones with jam and cream and cinder toffee everything homemade. I loved it too. We will be going back. Well worth a visit.

Went for afternoon tea today with my family which inc a 5year old boy. Have to say the experience from start to finish was perfect. Upon arrival the greet was friendly, enthusiastic and heartfelt. The layout and cleanliness of the dining area was top notch as well. The food including tea and coffee where served very quickly and were presented lovely. The four adults had afternoon tea which was very filling and tasty. Our 5 yr old son was hungry but this was no bother as they made him a fresh sandwich and crisp lunch to his required flavours. They bent over backwards for every request we had and never broke perfect customer service. Can't recommend highly enough.

Took my partner for a birthday meal. Very pleasant surroundings, although music was a bit too loud. Excellent service, food piping hot (portions are quite large) and cooked to perfection..Would certainly visit again and intend taking my elderly mum for afternoon tea.

On our last stay in November 2014, we only got to sample breakfast, but so liked the ambiance at Woodcote House that we were determined to sample the dinner menu this time – we were not disappointed.During our two day stay we enjoyed both dinner ad lunch the following day. Not a very long menu, especially at lunchtime, but offering pretty much something for everyone, my wife and I tried totally different dishes and all were good, perfectly cooked and served with a smile.The décor in the restaurant in pale creams and green is delightfully restful and you are not bombarded with loud music either.Goats Cheese pannacotta with a beetroot relish, and crostini and Ham & smoked cheese croquette with a curried mayonnaise, I requested a wedge of lemon in lieu of the mayonnaise and they unhesitatingly obliged, got our meal off to a flying start. My wife’s rare 8oz Rib Eye steak with chunky chips, tomato & peas was perfectly cooked and of the best quality, whilst my Confit of belly pork served on a potato rosti, with black pudding, Spinach & an apple cider sauce was an interesting dish, perfectly presented and beautifully cooked. The crackling was perfect! Following this up I went for a Gooseberry frangipane with custard – the gooseberries coming from Woodcote’s own kitchen garden, my wife had the same dish with clotted cream.By any standards an excellent dinner, at a fraction over £50 (including a half pint of Carlsberg) this was excellent value………..as was lunch the following day at £15 each for two courses.I am not going to recommend any specific dish – everything we ate here was of the best, this restaurant is deservedly popular with hotel guests and locals alike – booking is essential.

I was taken here by a friend for afternoon tea and it was lovely. The food was gorgeous as was the presentation. I've no idea what it cost but the spread was very generous, we could not finish it all. The restaurant was very pleasant. We stayed for a couple of hours but no one minded. Very friendly.

i have been fortunate to eat here twice in the last few weeks I first bought myself a gift of afternoon tea then was given a gift of a 2 course meal with drinks and I must say the place is beautiful the staff are great and attentive without being over the top and the food is absolutely delicious. The cakes are all home made and geourgeous.definatley well worth a trip I promise you wont be disappointed

We had afternoon tea at this hotel over the weekend and the whole experience was top notch - even tho we were there on a voucher offer, we were treated in the same way as any full paying guest. The food was delicious & plentiful, sandwiches were very fresh with plenty of filling and as for the cakes, well they were just amazing - such a variety and lots of them - in fact too many to eat there & then so we took some home. The tea/coffee was free flowing too. The service was absolutely faultless, very pleasant staff. We were also lucky that the weather was being kind so we took advantage of the warm sunshine to dine out in garden - such a lovely relaxing well maintained area - it just made for a perfect experience. Just returned from afternoon tea at the Woodcote hotel. Could not fault it. We went on a voucher but would of been more than happy to pay full price. Sandwiches nice and fresh and lots of different variations of cakes and as much tea or coffee and you can drink! We sat in their beautiful garden and the weather was good to us. Would fully recommend this hotel.

Visited on a voucher deal with friends.Lovely helpful staff we were delayed as friends went to a similar named place not far away by mistake.The menu was not a large selection but ok..The food when it arrived was good and freshly cooked .The decor is fresh and the whole dining room lovely ..light and airy.Would definantly recommend it .

Ate at the hotel restaurant as we were staying there on business. Food was a good quality, menu is A La Carte or a Specials menu. 3 courses on the specials cost £20.00. Good value.

In the ZOO room its cramped and hot.The food is good with nice variety of fish, meat or vega.Prices are fair and the service suitable.Till next time!

Went for afternoon tea on a 1/2 price voucher. The room was nicely decorated airy and light.Tasty sandwiches and mini cakes and plenty of tea. On the voucher it was great value and enjoyable, but I would not have been quite so happy if I'd paid the full price as it wasn't the best afternoon tea I've had

Went for afternoon tea with my Mum, it was so lovely we are going again tomorrow, 4 of us. I have never been served by such lovely friendly people. One told us we should go and have a look at their secret gardens and after our food, took us out to see them! Beautiful gardens.The afternoon tea was the best I have ever had. A huge assortment of cakes!! and a choice of sandwiches. It was so bright and airy inside ,Can't recommend it highly enough.

I went here with a lot of my family for my nan and granddads 60th wedding anniversary, with it being a large party, we all pre-orderd our food. However with being a vegetarian, there was only one vegetarian option on the menu and unfortunately it was one that I didn't like. So I rang up Woodcote and kindly asked if there was any other vegetarian options available and they just simply said

While staying at the hotel we decided to eat in the restaurant as it looked so inviting. This is unusual for us as we usually eat in a local pub.We were not disappointed, the service (with a chat and a smile) was brilliant, the food excellent and the glasses refilled in the blink of an eye.Very highly recommended and we will be back.

We just got back from having Mother's Day Lunch at this Restaurant. What can I say? This place is a little GEM! Food was beautifully light and tasty and very eye catching. The restaurant itself is delightfully decorated and it had a quaint english tearoom feel to it and the staff are charming and welcoming. There is a secret garden just to the left of the car park and I can imagine its a lovely sight in the summer! As it was wonderful looking even in such a cold dreary day. We will be returning for sure. Just gorgeous. Thank you Woodcote for making mine and my mums Mother's day a special one :-)

Wow! Amazing afternoon tea. Everything was fresh and delicious, definitely all about the cakes but the sandwiches were a treat too. Cant wait to go back, especially in the spring and summer to sit in the beautiful secret garden.

The menu was unusual to us, as we very rarely eat in the hotel we stay in. We tend to eat a fairly boring diet. However, we treated ourselves this time and the food was amazing. The service was great, every table being served as if they were the only ones eating there.

Restaurant is very comfortable, and service is excellent. Food is top notch.They use local produce, and as they say, they don't do fast food, but they do good food as fast as they can"!They have a daily specials menu which offers two courses, a small glass of wine and coffee/tea for around £16.There's also a separate bar area in a function room, serving draught beers etc.Definitely recommend!

After deciding to eat quite late{we had attended a funeral} the staff couldn't of been more helpful. My husband is a coeliac and the staff were excellent with the menu and explaining where the food was cooked etc i had the risotto which was really tasty, other members in our party had various dishes and there wasn't one clean plate!!!!I would also like to mention that the funeral buffet in the afternoon was excellent, the staff excellent and unobtrusive.We will be visiting again.

The staff were really welcoming and couldn't do enough to help us.We had a party of 30 people which included adults and children, this could be quite daunting for a restaurant but everything seemed to go to plan. A little bit of a mix up with peoples food but that was something we would expect really considering the amount of people that attended.We ordered our food from a set menu which was Starters/Mains/desserts.All of the food came out at pretty much the same time, nice and hot and plenty of it. Overall we were very happy with our evening and all of our family and friends were as well.Special thanks to Leigh who organised everything.

We had heard that this restaurant was very good so booked a table for a Saturday evening and we wasn't disappointed the food and service was excellent. We went for the a la carte menu my husband had the chicken and chorizo meal and thought it was really good and my brother in law had the risotto and that too was very good,the whole meal starters and main courses we didn't have dessert(no room maybe next time ) were absolutely fantastic. The only downside was that there was not a lot of atmosphere there but the food more than made up for it, we would go again and would thoroughly recommend it to it everyone.

I have been here a good few times now - for Afternoon Tea, Breakfast and just coffee. Each time has been lovely. The service from the lovely staff and the beautiful décor is what keeps me going back. My wife and I were spending one night in the hotel and decided to eat in. It was the right decision as the food was very good and the staff excellent. The 'set menu' was a little limited so we opted for the a la carte.Thoroughly recommended.

The restaurant is bright and airy and quite tastefully decorated, some nice settees and background music being played while we chose our meals. Friendly staff. A La Carte available and a set menu with 2 courses, glass of wine and tea/coffee for £30 for 2 people and we chose this and it was good value for money. The food was hot ,tasty and nicely presented. The menu was fine but not terribly exciting so if you are an adventurous eater may not suit but we were all very happy with our meals. One tip for the staff put some ice and lemon in water jugs other than that a very nice experience just a pity it was quiet which cannot help the atmosphere

A friend and I called in today for a coffee and possibly lunch, we were advised that they were actually closed. However, they had a private function underway so kindly offered to provide coffee and sandwiches. I assumed they were the owners, they were so helpful and welcoming. A good service can be difficult to find and they excelled, we were able to have a good chat in a lovely place, thank you very much.

From the outside you would not expect to find the amazing food and wonderfully helpful staff that makes the Woodcote such a delight. It is the staff and their efforts that make this place so good. We went with a friend who was completing a food diary at her consultant's request, to identify a food allergy. The hotel e-mailed her a complete list of every ingredient in her meal.It is " going the extra mile" that makes us return. As well as the excellent food. Would definitely recommend

My first visit to this venue. WOW! The food and service absolutely blew me away! This place is a hidden gem. The food was very reasonably priced with my expectations matched accordingly, however, each course was of tremendous quality and the service from their friendly staff easily matched it. The best meal we have had in a very long time... Thanks so much, we'll be back!

Came here simply on the recommendation of other reviewers on Trip Advisor before we went to the cinema at Cheshire Oaks. The reviews are very accurate. This restaurant offers good value dining in very pleasant surroundings. The waitress and manager were efficient, friendly and knowledgable, willing to chat, but didn't intrude. The food was good quality, the portions generous and very good value. I couldn't manage dessert. A lovely meal which would suit any occasion.

A group of eight came here for our xmas lunch. We had pre-booked our 3 course meal and it was served almost straight away - piping hot and delicious. Very generous portions - they even gave us extra roasties and parsnips. Fantastic all round - professional and attentive service and superb value for money. We shall definitely be returning

A group of 11 of us stayed at the woodcote house last weekend for a kart meeting at Hooton park , the welcome we received was first class the rooms comfortable food excellent reasonably priced drinks , one of our group is dairy intolerant and a great effort was made by the staff to accommodate her requirements . I was also celebrating my 60th birthday and could not have had a better time , thanks and see you next year

I have an office a mile from the Woodcote and have stayed here at least a dozen times this year. The rooms are all of a high standard (have stayed in most of them now) and great value for money.The food on offer is fantastic! Great choice of breakfast and the evening menu rates as good as many "serious" restaurants that i've dined in.Although I use it when on business I would heartily recommend to anyone!
