Terribly, terribly slow service. Not very friendly staff. Horrible tea. No atmosphere and the tables don't get cleared and cleaned well enough.

The first time I have ever found a piece of plastic in the food! It was a piece of blue coloured plastic (luckily it was visible enough, mixed in with the coleslaw which was coated in mayonnaise. As soon as I spotted it the waitress offered me a replacement meal however I said that's fine I'll carry on, but I'd like a refund please. She offered a full refund on not only my meal but my husband's as well, including the drinks. As I carried on eating, I also noticed a large piece of cabbage in the coleslaw that was obviously the hard heart of the cabbage and was a nasty grey colour! The waitress looked as disgusted as I was! Another couple of minor gripes - when we first queued to be seen to our table, all we could see was a sign saying 'Restaurant closed'. We nearly walked away until it was confirmed that it was indeed open. The waitress seeing us to our table asked about any food allergies, which we mentioned - nuts and eggs. However when it came to a different waitress taking our order, there was no mention of allergic ingredients and both meals arrived with egg in them - the mayo on the coleslaw and also probably a small amount in the tartare sauce. We managed to navigate that ourselves, as we usually do. The food itself was very good and price reasonable too. The ham in the ham and cheese baguette was amazing, more like sliced gammon; very high quality and not smothered in too much cheese which was to my liking. Salad was tasty although a bit too smothered in a fatty mayo, but OK. Better than dry rocket and lettuce. The fish and chips were very good, no complaints there. Good portion size and reasonable price. We came away happy that the full meal was refunded but alarmed by the food prep standards as someone could have choked on that piece of plastic. One assumes careless and rushed staff in the kitchen is the problem. Waitresses were pleasant and helpful, doing a good job on a busy Saturday lunchtime. The menu was not a patch on when it was under the previous management, we used to go in for an amazing gourmet burger meal. It's now a much reduced but serviceable menu.

Two weeks ago I bought some meat (sausages, steak and steak burgers) from the butchers at Dobbies. I cooked it on the bbq for my family that evening. We all ate the same food but I was the only one to eat the steak burgers. The only other thing I ate was some corn and salad, which my family also ate. Four hours later and I was doubled over in pain and vomiting. I was up until 4am and I felt so unwell that I had to cancel all plans the next day. I’ve had a few more bad stomach cramps since then, I’ve seen a doctor and he’s said it’s very likely I’ve had food poisoning. Even today I’ve had stomach cramps! I emailed Dobbie’s to complain last weekend but so far no response. I’d really think twice before buying meat from there.

Visited last Monday. The cafe adjacent to the children's play area is really good value for a snack. I had baked potato with beans. The children's meal deals are healthy and varied. The place is clean and tidy. Can't find any fault. Main draw was soft play which was disappointing and diminished my 'day out'. At £3 per child you'd expect some level of staff supervision, especially during the holidays. In actuality you get cafe staff checking in bookings then disappearing. Instead, there's a large sign stating various rules including the baby area 'recommended for under 2". The assumption is that children and/or adults will read rules. Not on my visit as kids were running between areas while parents half-heartedly supervised from the side between conversation points. We lasted 30 minutes in baby area having exchanged words and glares over the lack of common sense around babies. I understand if paying staff to supervise will affect profit as it's a cash grab but at least put a gate on baby area. Everything slightly overpriced but could put up with that as nice and diverting day for kids to browse plants, aquarium and children's toys/books. As we left a staff member wanted to know if we'd like to sign up for Dobbies membership. We declined as soft area not suitable in it's current form to justify regular return.

She made no reference to having to leave, just left talking on the phone. Waited nearly 5 minutes before another colleague came over and asked if there was anything else I needed and then completed the order. Not the first time cafe staff are utterly uninterested!

I always enjoy coming to this garden centre. It has recently changed hands having been taken over by Dobbies, they are doing a great job and the quality of the service remains high. I have visited Dobbies numerous times over the last 2 years, and I have joined their 'club' which I highly recommend. You'll pay a small membership fee (around £12 per annum) but you'll easily recoup this amount with money off vouchers, 10% off plants etc, and 2 free drinks per month. The drive through compost service is great! Simply drive up, buy your compost, bark, sand, etc and the lads will load it in your car for you. Brilliant! Great restaurant too. I highly recommend Dobbies.

Dobbies-"where customers are the least important thing!" bought 2 plants for 1 pound each, charged 3.99 each, didnt notice at checkout that they didnt cover the full price bar code with the reduced bar code.(Lidl does it better! and its misleading!) I had to drive back same day as busy at the following days. Customer service rep made me wait 10 min for another staff to be able to give me refund, when she arrived she chatted for another few minutes and than the system went down , than she asked me:"do you know our opening times?"- I said how do you mean? I think it was rather rude. I expressed it took me 1 hour from my house and back again(+petrol) due to an accident in Wallington to get my money back, its inconvenience and I know its not a big amount but its the principles! I did ask if they would consider compensation, as this ruined my day and I couldnt even think about gardening after this she said:"NO WE DONT COMPENSATE! "tbh giving me the £1 little flower for free wouldnt have caused much financial disaster for such an established and overpriced garden center, and it would have been a kind gesture, but no I did feel awkard actually expressing my dissapointment."It does happen easily" she said .She did say sorry. Another little point: the coffee at the main Cafe is almost made me sick its hot milk with a hint of coffee , cappucino and latte made at the same way, for coffee lovers do not attempt! Staff needs serious training on barrista skills!sorry to be negative , and I am not usually like this but I just didnt feel an "important customer at all",wont be visiting again.

This Dobbies is lovely for gardening and butcher and Waitrose items are great BUT I've come to this Dobbies quite a few times and the food is not great. They either don't have much (items on the menu not available) or the food is cold. The avo on toast is terrible, had it on three occasions thinking it can't be that bad but I'm wrong, there is so much onion in the avo that, that is all you can taste the whole day! Shambles. Arrived at 10:38 thinking we would be early for breakfast (website listed 10:30 opening) Waited over 30 minutes for a table even though queuing next to an area with many free tables. Poor girl managing the queue asked her manager if we could be seated there but was advised these were for afternoon tea only. It was before 11 and we would surely have eaten and been out well before 12… Asked to order immediately after being seated as there was a 30 minute wait on food. Even getting someone to take our order took 5 minutes or more. Sat waiting for about 20 minutes and no one thought to bring our drinks before the food. Asked a waitress for some water whilst we waited. 20 minutes later 3 cups arrived (there are four of us..) Hot drinks arrived a few minutes before the water… Food took forever as advised and had run out of sausage for one of our meals.. finally finished eating around 12:20. Getting the bill.. Yes, it’s Father’s Day but this is something management should have planned for. You’ve put your staff in a really difficult situation and given a sub-par customer experience. Really, really bad. I hate giving bad reviews as you can see from my review history so it genuinely was awful. Such a shame as the restaurant is lovely and clean, food is OK (if they don’t run out) and staff are usually polite when they aren’t rushed off their feet.

Big thank you to the Dobbies Woodcote staff. I was with my son near the alpine plants, which is near the kids play area. He was in the play area. He came over asking if there was a bigger kids area… I told him that we would go look after I picked out the last of the alpine plants. About 30 seconds later… he vanished!! So I looked all around. I was cool and calm and looked inside. But he was no where to be found. So I asked staff for help… about 3-5 people kicked in to action. They took it very seriously. Even customers helped look. He was found after 10 minutes… (he was under the bench playing with the rocks! Right next to the alpine plants). Thank you so much to everyone at Dobbies for springing into action. It was the first time I visited the centre so I didn’t even know where to look. I was fuming with myself and my son but the Dobbies staff were so lovely about it. Kept checking on us afterwards and made it into a positive experience for my son. My son became the local celeb. I didn’t let him out of my sight after that. For this, kudos to the management for hiring lovely empathetic people. In terms of plants… yes they had everything that I wanted. Really good selection. Good selection of stylish pots too. Found some good welly boots for the allotment . I wish they stocked soft ties for plants. They had an alternative but it was twice the price. Toilets were clean but could be better (ie diaper bin was left opened). The restaurant was nice but needed a bit of TLC. No napkins… nearly all the forks were dirty. Also the exit is a bit steep and scratched the underside of my car. Please fix that. Thank you once again Dobbies!

I'm a frequent visitor to Dobbies, and I want to highlight the excellent service provided by two separate staff members at Dobbies Garden Centre, Woodcote Green. One is Ben, the restaurant manager, and the other is Richard, one of the 'tomato plant experts' - probably THE tomato plant expert! First of all, I shall mention Ben, for whom nothing is too much trouble. He is efficient, warm and friendly and is extremely hardworking. I often visit the restaurant and/or one of the two coffee shops with my friend Sue, and Ben is usually busy supporting his teams by taking orders, serving meals, making the drinks or working at the tills. He helps out wherever he is needed and doesn't stop until the outlets have quietened down. He always has time to greet us and is always happy, smiling and positive, which is uplifting and spreads positivity to his team and customers. We're always delighted when Ben is around. Thank you for your excellent service Ben. Richard is a member of the garden team, and is usually seen in the main building or anywhere he is needed, such as clearing trolleys in the car park. I asked for his advice on planting and caring for my tomato plants; and I immediately realised that I had asked the right person, as Richard was able to provide accurate and very helpful advice on the type of pots and compost I needed, plus the planting-out and ongoing care of my young tomato plants. Despite the fact that the garden centre was about to close, Richard took the time to show me various pots that I could use to ensure my young plants had the best chance of growing into strong and healthy mature tomato plants with a prolific crop. I selected three large pots that Richard had suggested would be suitable, but didn't have time to buy the compost at the drive-thru. The next time I visited the garden centre, Richard recognised me in the car park and asked me how I was getting on with the tomato plants. I was delighted to tell him that I bought the compost he'd recommended and was ready for the planting. It's exceptional staff members like Ben in the catering team and Richard in the garden team who make the garden centre such a pleasure to visit, and who make customer service and satisfaction a priority; and most importantly, are prepared to go the extra mile for their customers. Thank you to both Ben and Richard; you're both assets to Dobbies.

We had to stand for 40 minutes just to order a coffee and cake (there were only about 6 people in front of us, it was just so slow). I ordered an ice latte which had no ice. When I asked for ice I was told they had none. My toasted croissant had hard unmelted cheese in the middle. So I had a room temperature coffee and half toasted croissant after 40 minutes of waiting. I'm not a garden fan (my mum is) as such but I've come to enjoy my trips to Woodcote Green Garden centre. The staff are helpful, the food in the restaurant is delicious and the produce is also nice and a large variety of plants. We are able to kit out our 100ft garden by going to Woodcote. If you're looking for somewhere to buy garden plants, sheds, garden furniture and other bits and pieces this is the place to go. EDIT: Since they changed over to Dobbies the products variety, food, restaurant is not the same. We used to enjoy our trips to Woodcote however now they are Dobbies not so much. The quality is not the same as it was. The variety of products are a lot more limited. The food court had a large selection of produce and unusual products which was lovely. They changed it to Sainsburys and now to Waitrose and just boring supermarket products. The quality of the restaurant food, portion size, availability and cleanliness is dramatically lowered. We used to love coming to do our shopping and have breakfast as a treat. We actually don't really bother to eat here anymore. It's such a shame that Dobbies has taken over because it has definitely ruined the shopping experience, especially for my mum who loves buying plants or bulbs for our garden. Sometimes it's best just to leave things as they were.

Not the best breakfast in town! This is quick / short review on the restaurant not the garden centre. Positives first … The staff here are lovely, the place is usually pretty clean and quite spacious the toilets are clean and they have accessible toilets. They also have a small sitting area where you can sit with dogs, which is nice as many do not allow dogs indoors we’ve found. Negatives (but quick and short-ish) As the staff are busy this tends to mean that food sits under the lights, drying up waiting to be taken to customers. So when you do eventually get your food, it is dry/hard, and not that nice to be honest. There is sometimes a group of us and occasionally a couple of us, either way, it usually take a long time to get a table, a long to order, and an even longer time for the food to get to you. Unfortunately for us whenever we have been here there is always something off the menu that is not available… on one occasion they had no chips, which at the time came with most meals. There was also a shortage of salad once, all quite strange when there is a mini supermarket on site. Such as shame, however they must be doing something right as they are usually very busy. Pic of breakfast, which took 40 minutes to arrive, unfortunately not sure I would recommend breakfast here.

Poached egg was solid, cold and rubbery with the yoke just crumbling, the hash brown was so over cooked, it didn't cut, just just crumbled into pieces and the bacon was more fat than meat. We complained and eventually got another poached egg and the comments when showing the hash brown to the server was "we have had a number of complaints", to which he walked off and then proceeded to totally ignore us. Waited 30 mins to get his attention for the bill and when I said about taking money off, he looked away and totalled ignored us. If it wasn't the fact that we had to leave quickly due to the time I would have taken it further then and there. Don't waste your money as they cannot be bothered. Update - In addition to the appalling breakfast and rude service, it seems we were also overcharged as your online menu states two traditional breakfasts for £14.00 – we were charged £15.98. It seems your staff need further training in cooking the food, customer service and their knowledge of the menu.

Enjoyed a nice cooked breakfast here today. It has changed over the years and now has a smaller menu, but still good. I had a veggie breakfast and added on an extra egg and hash brown. Cappuccino was lovely and frothy. Food was which and staff were great. We went just after 9 so it was nice and quiet, it can get busy at other times, but lots of seating. Having table service is an improvement, as before you'd have to go up to order etc.

A bit on the commercial side but it does offer convenience and tailor towards a wide array of gardening needs.

My favourite garden centre with a huge stock of everything for the garden. The new deli area has a great selection of fresh/frozen foods and alcoholic drinks. The café and restaurant are clean with interesting menus - if (like the rest of the centre) a tad expensive 😳

A pity the entrance and exit are so pot holed and dangerous. The toilets by the large cafe need a refurb, very shabby. Staff are lovely. Atmosphere very like an airport.

Unfortunately, our family breakfast fell short. The Benedict had a stale, soggy muffin, the traditional breakfast came with burnt toast, and my son's order was missing hash browns. Despite informing staff, the hash browns never arrived, as they were apparently lost. We paid full price but won't return due to the disappointing service and food quality.

Went for a breakfast here and I was sorely disappointed, food was stone cold, reheated bacon and sausage. Everything was cold. The waitress who took our order was miserable and dumped the food on the table and just walked off without as so much as a smile. Food and customer service at the restaurant was appalling, waste of money. Never going back.

Great selection of seeds and plants. Child and dog friendly, however very disappointed with the 2 for 1 scone deal for members, there were piles of scones but none apparently were the ones for the deal ....

Decided to take the family out for lunch and haven't been to Dobbies since it changed over from Woodcote Green - we were very sad about this at the time. Arrived to see plenty of tables but a long queue to be seated. Apparently this was down to being short staffed so they closed a section of the restaurant. Even so, many tables were not being cleared away in the section being used which added to the wait. However, when seated, we were impressed with the selection for food and the fact kids ate and drank for free with an adult main. Made the prices, which were already reasonable, even better. My wife and I chose fish and chips which was really tasty and the kids had the usual child meals. The only downside was either side of the food. Waiting to be seated and then a very long wait to try and pay. Nevertheless, I would definitely come and eat here again as the kids eat for free and there was a decent choice for the adults too. That alongside the plants, fish and other things to look at make it a handy place to visit to use up some time.

Travelled for work, stayed for 2 nights, and I loved it here, the bed was very big and comfy and I was given the extra pillows that I asked for. Also, the food was amazing in the pub downstairs, the trout was top class, and the pecan pie was out of this world! And the full Duke's breakfast was spot on the following morning. Also, the staff are really friendly, super super friendly. Really recommended!

This pub could win an award for worst pub in wallington, but i feel like its competing for worst pub in south london. I guess it’s called the star because thats how much it deserves out of 5. Servers seem like theyre serving a prison sentence rather than people at a bar im. Clientele are aggressive and coked up, the star out of five.

Had 2x rock and chips delivered but the fish was unbeatable, what meat there was on it was chewy and most of it you had to tear off the bone. Absolute rubbish!😡

I remember using this cafe in the 1990's when i used to work in Sutton...its changed a bit since then, but all for the better...A good choice and at fair prices. What really struck me was how clean the place was, it would appear that many regulars use it as well which is always a good sign.
