The Duke's Head Hotel Restaurant in Sutton

Travelled for work, stayed for 2 nights, and I loved it here, the bed was very big and comfy and I was given the extra pillows that I asked for. Also, the food was amazing in the pub downstairs, the trout was top class, and the pecan pie was out of this world! And the full Duke's breakfast was spot on the following morning. Also, the staff are really friendly, super super friendly. Really recommended!

Maria looked after us so well, very accommodating and friendly, plus the desserts were delicious!

Terrible food, the duck salad was swimming in the soy sauce making the lettuce leaves really soggy, just disgusting , how can a salad be so bad.

Booked the lavender room for a small retirement do the venue was perfect the food was lovely and the staff were really helpful in sorting out welcome drinks and the Spotify playlist, would definitely recommend

We went for a Sunday Roast as we live nearby, great welcome and decor, large place with different dining rooms. We were seated promptly and provided the menu, but once placed the order we barely saw the waitress. She was spending most of the time in front of the laptop (not using it) chatting with the bartenders giving the back to the guests. Kids fish and chips really good, despite we asked for fries and was served with chips and they forgot the beans, the food runner promptly rectified everything. Goat cheese and figs tart, slightly overcooked making the goat cheese well cooked and lost the flavour, also the tart became very crunchy. Sundae Roast, could have been better. The neat was tough and chewy, most probably it wasn't a sirloin neither a ramp, thick cut and also small portion, 1 slice and a bit. Trimmings really good, Yorkshire pudding was ok, undercooked inside looks like the oven was too hot and they didn't have the time to cook properly the inside. Eton mess really fresh, the meringue itself is not a raspberry meringue as on the menu, a bit sandy texture but overall better than the meat.

Nice roast dinner. Massive portion and really like them coming round offering more gravy or an extra Yorkshire pudding. Lots of veg but the parsnips and potatoes were not as roasted as they could have been. With the kids menu it seems a bit odd to serve the carrot and cucumber sticks with the main. Would be nicer as a starter for them with some houmous. Did notice that the roasts advertised on the website are not what was offered on the menu but still a lovely meal.

Went for the roast and was overwhelmed with the amazing portion..all meats cooked to to perfection especially the pork and crackling..Will definitely be back.

It's a good pub, with parking and decent rooms to stay as well. Met for brunch at 11.15. It's seems breakfast finishes at 10.30 although the website said 11.00. Anyway, the brunch menu has an all-day breakfast on it. It's a little pricey compared to the cafe and does not come with a coffee. It was ok, arrived cold, fried eggs were overdone, and the toast was very dry, good bacon and black pudding. Tried the sausage roll, too, and that was good. The Youngs Original was a good quality pint, I could tell the pipes were clean. Overall, good value, friendly service, they were short staffed. I'd go back if they cleaned up the courtyard outside (had dog poo), I mean, the dog owner should be ashamed, difficult thing for the staff to do deal with, I sympathise. Overall, I would go back as its a good pub (probably the best in Wallington) with decent food and atmosphere.

I came in for a Saturday dinner. The crab spring roll starter was the perfect way to start my meal. The pork special was to die for!! Couldn’t have had a nicer experience. Lovely place, Cicely & Fin where amazing, their service was brilliant smiley and welcoming.

Really enjoyable, food was excellent. I had the cyder haddock and chips, best fish and chips I have had. The batter was crispy, fish delicious loads of chips mushy peas, tartare sauce and curry sauce, I ate every single bit, will definitely go again to try another dish.

Had a great meal yesterday (Sunday) with the family, lots of us! Food was good but the best bit for us was the waitress, Cicely, she was extremely attentive and nothing was a chore for her. Always smiling and truly above and beyond with service - THANK YOU!

Family friend had a party at the dukes head this weekend and I feel it’s only right I left a review. My mother and myself decided to book a hotel room at the venue to save on evening travelling and we are so so happy we did.. Not only was the pub (venue) itself amazing the hotel was beautiful! The room was spacious decorated to a high standard, double shower, massive tv, beds were extremely comfortable - To be honest i could have just stayed in the room and not have gone to the party. I’d like to say thank you to Natalie and all her staff for such a warm and friendly stay, I’ll definitely be returning. Lauren

A great pub/hotel. We stayed two nights and will stay again if we are back in the area. Plenty of parking onsite available. Staff were very friendly and Checkin was quick. Breakfast was excellent and service was good.

Superb pub, great food and the Guinness is at the top of its game. The staff are all super friendly, they can’t do enough for you and your 4 legged friend should you have one! Highly recommend a visit!

Been here many times for food as we live local. Today was the worst for food. Fish and chips, batter was over cooked. Curry sauce tasted bitter and burnt. Mushy peas was like dark green mush. Asked waitress what the dish was, she went to find out and never returned with an explanation. Asked again and was told it was a different type of pea. It was like dark bogey green. Horrible. Asked for starters to be separate to main and it all came out together so sent back main and sides. When main arrived it was cold like it had been sitting on the side waiting. Very poor considering we are regulars. Not happy

Fish pie was more like a soup, very runny, tasty but not a pie. Rest of food was lovely, fishcakes were amazing.

We booked all of the rooms at the Dukes Head, for our wedding guests, and had a welcome meal there on the Friday night. The food, including breakfast, was delicious and the rooms are well decorated, attractive, clean and very comfy. Natalie and her team in the restaurant, and Sara in the hotel, couldn’t do enough for our group and made it a wonderful and memorable stay. We’ll definitely use the Duke’s Head again for celebrations and for family and friends to stay when they’re visiting.

In fairness it was a Monday evening so very quiet with little atmosphere. The menu is quite limited and the food was ok . The service was very good I felt all in all quite expensive

Sadly yet another visit where the food was way below par. Yes, there was a party on but then there should have been more staff. We waited ages for our food. The garlic prawn were tasteless and 3 for £13.50 is disgraceful. The Devon crab roll was tasteless as well for £8.50. We paid £38 for an okay sirloin steak with half of tomatoes, 1 mushroom and chips. I had a ceasar salad with a tough cold lump of chicken stuck on top for £20, not very appetising. Our chicken mushroom and leek pies were tasty. The best of the lot. If you are going to charge these prices then the food and service should reflect these prices. We will definitely try the Greyhound next time as I know they are far better with their customer service.

We had another really good breakfast here. The service and food was all very good. I will be back.

Took my daughter and grandaughter for lunch. We had the sharing ploughmans, the bread and cheeses really nice,sausage roll and scotch egg really nice. One peice of cheddar you could see had been left out as had dried out, the ham hock was past its best (even the waitress agreed), salad was lettuce and half a radish. Desert my grandaughter had was triple chocolate desert but the brownie was so hard she couldn't bite or even cut it and the Eton mess delicious ice cream and fruit but could cut or break the meringue did point it out but. No apology also the little jars holding mayo and tomato sauce the lids very rusty. Such a shame as dont think I would go back.

Always a lovely night at the Dukes Head! Watching the football there was such a chilled out evening. Great cocktails and great food. Even better that we can take our dog with us to enjoy the evening 🤩

We love The Duke’s Head and come here often. It was the first time we hired a hut. They are spacious and comfortable. The garden was packed at the time of our booking (6pm) so I highly recommend booking in advance. Food is just YUMMY!!! I would have given it a 5 star review but the only thing that let the night down was that another non booked party had located all their chairs and tables right and the foot of our steps to the hut. Which made coming and going really tricky. Even bar staff delivering our table service drinks found it tricky to navigate which just meant they lent over and we got up to take the drinks from them as they couldn’t get to our steps. Perhaps having the tiniest allowance when hiring the hut to come and go with ease. I would book again no problem!

Have been here several times now - always fab. Exceptional service - warm and friendly. The food is outstanding - menus are really well thought-through and everything tastes fresh and wholesome. I have had both burgers, the steak and pies and it's all good. Dog-friendly, free parking and a warm and cosy atmosphere. Love it!

My multiculturally blended extended chosen family and I had a wonderful lunch today, food was great, vibes were immaculate and the bill was reasonable. Tilly and the gang served us amicably and made us feel like part of the Duke’s Head family during our short but memorable time together. Will definitely be back and would highly recommend a visit to any national or international pub goers. P.S. it hailed whilst we ate but the sturdy rafters of this renovated 16th century public house protected us with the strength and stability of a veteran plow horse.

Average. Over priced, staff are young and useless. Got drinks orders wrong for the duration we were there and gave attitude when asked to change it. Wasn’t like it was busy in there either (which doesn’t surprise me if that’s how everyone gets treated)

Our group were well looked after, drinks were superb, food outstanding and lovely atmosphere. Special thank you must go the lovely waitress and pat on the back for the Chefs. Well done had a lovely evening.

Christmas lunch for 8 beautiful food and wonderful service

Our family have had our big pre Christmas gathering / meal here two years in a row now. 17 of us both times! The restaurant staff are so patient, attentive and friendly. We are not an easy bunch to work with haha. The food is so good and even with 17 orders coming out , every plate is hot and scrumptious. Can’t fault the experience and can only apologise for how much racket we make and for my elderly dad who mis orders deserts like their going out of fashion 😂 Big respect! Thanks to the staff and kitchen!!

We held my Grandads wake here yesterday. The buffet selection was lovely, everyone agreed. We were all very pleased with it all. The staff were lovely and accommodating.

First things first, this is an expensive pub. It’s part of Young’s chain and as that it, looks like most other establishments of said chain. Don’t get this wrong, it’s as cosy, clean and in good condition as any other Young’s, this comes at a literal price, however. The food and beer are pricey so much, that I can even say they’re overpriced. The food portions are rather on the smallish side. Taste wise I do not see any reason to justify the expense. Out of the couple of times I have attended the place,I can remember two occasions rather distinctly. Once I had the dish from my plate spilt on me by the waiter, and a second time the meat was quite noticeably overcooked. Beer and cider prices are, like I said before, horrendous.

Can’t fault the food at The Dukes Head. Eaten lunch and dinner here a few times and every time the quality is superb and portions are great. Natalie and Neil run a very efficient friendly team and always happy and accommodating. Knocks spots off any other pub serving food in the area. 5*

8 Guests stayed 3 nights with us joining them for dinner 11, 10.and 14 guests. Every member of staff, Reception, Bar and Restaurant were highly motivated to deliver an excellent customer service. A delightful place to stay and dine.

Sadly it wasn't one of our best experiences at the Duke. The 2 men had a fish dish, one dish came out with a decent size piece of fish, the other was minute. We spoke with a waitress but that as far as it went. We then had port at the end of the meal. First glasses were OK but 3 of us had and glass of port. This was awful. There were so many bits in the bottom of the glass that it made us feel ill. Again we told the waitress and I went back the next day and spoke with the manager. Other than a sorry they couldn't care less. I think spending nearly £280 on a local pub meal you'd get better than this.

Booked for 9 people for my nephews birthday via the website, nice and straight forward, as been here before and loved it. Menu had a couple of changes from before as did the specials board. Nice friendly and relaxed welcome and the food was fantastic! Runny Scotch Egg starter was 5* as were all the starters and mains. Was busy for midweek, but the service was nice and prompt and drinks arrived within a few minutes, followed soon after by the food, which was piping hot and cooked to perfection! Will 100% be back and highly recommend for really good food and drink.

Been here a couple of times and food has always been great. Food a bit pricey but worth it. Gluten free burger is the best I’ve ever had. So nice to have good GF options! Beer garden also really nice
