Wood Oven in Redbridge

Not family friendly price wise. unbelievably expensive and no set lunch menus. Toilets are disgustingly filthy. £8 for small halumi £5 for chips “£5 Liberty” £24 for a small mixed kebab Definitely would not recommend to anyone. no wonder why it was empty. I’ve had better food out of Woodford Kebab.

I ordered a seafood mix. Apart from the fact that the food was cold and slightly warm, I only got salmon and two chewy and over cooked shelled prawns. The menu stated at least three different types of fish. The menu also says, served with rice and bread." I got a bowl full of bulgur wheat and one or two table spoon of boiled rice. Calamari was soggy, too. Could have had a lot better dinner at home than the effort made to go out. It's also the deception of the restaurant that puts me off, thinking that an individual would not know what is served is different from what the menu states. It's just appalling. I'm never going there again. The restaurant did not meet any expectations in terms of the food quality served and accuracy of the menu description. It's understandable that I feel disappointed and deceived by their service, nothing was done when I complained. It's always and totally frustrating when a restaurant fails to deliver on what they promise.

Was a Sunday about 2pm very busy. Sat age's to order. Eventually brought a tiny amount of bread and Taziki for 5 of us. Food tasted great large shish was definitely large. Asked for sauces never arrived asked for water too AGES. then the boss stands hovering hinting he wants paying. No credit card facilities CASH only if you don't have cash they point to the barckays ATM opposite. Tax avoiding. Would I go again absolutely not much better one up road by waitrose that's accepts cards and better food in my opinion.

Love the food, love the staff. I always come for lunch but it’s very busy in the evenings during weekends. They also do a corkage free to bring your own alcohol. The chicken Shish is my favourite!

Food was really nice however when we asked for the bill they told us they don’t take card when we question the staff why they haven’t told us this before we ordered they than said there is a cash machine across the road to get cash . They made my husband along with other guests to get cash . There is clear tax avoidance going on in this establishment so I won’t be going back there again as it’s not ethical .

Önder who served me has exceptional customer service. Polite and friendly and makes this place worth the visit. He is very hard working and diligent with making sure I had everything I needed. He also seems a lovely person and his personality shows through when being served. I would happily come back here again for the food and the exceptional service. Önder an absolute credit to this establishment and happy to come back here again. Definitely deserves a pay rise or acknowledgment from higher management.

I recently visited the Wood Oven in George Lane, South Woodford, for lunch and was severely disappointed. The food was under-flavoured and overpriced, in my opinion. I ordered some Hummus and bread for my starter, followed by lamb cutlets with bulgar pilau and a Pepsi. The bulgar seemed like one tablespoon, and I couldn’t taste any flavour in the lamb. I almost had a heart attack when the bill came, and I realised they were charging me £27, and the fact that they refused to accept a debit card for this transaction made matters worse. I couldn’t help thinking that the price was bad enough, and thinking that the tax wasn’t likely to be paid correctly made matters worse. This unsatisfied customer will not be returning!!

Worst resturant i have visted in a long time. When we arrived we was seated and staff gace us a menu and was on us straight away to order. Made us order our mains with our starter. Starters arrived also my sons main arrived at the same time too......weird. Hadn't even finshed our starters trying to plates away with food on them to give us our mains, ee didnt even have time to digest our starters and get a break. I cant eat rice for my own reason so i asked if i coukd have chips with my chicken shish was told no have to buy separately. I have never had to ever do this before and was quite shocked. Staff stood around staring at you alot, made you feel very uncomfortable. I.wouldnt mind was only 9 people in resturant but all was rushed to feed us and get us out, very poor service overall. Food was that great nothing special anything over priced. Only told once bill arrrived that they dont take card. Bank nesr resturant cash machine wasnt working so had to walk for ages to find a cash point. Website does not tell you that they dont take cards when booking they dont inform you.....all to avoid the tax man My advise to you avoid this resturant it really is a waste of money and just poor service from start to finsh!!!!

Stopped in here as we parked outside for a cinema visit and wanted a quick snack before the film. Very friendly greeting and place wax already busy at 6 o’clock on a Friday night, always a good sign in my book. Really good kebabs and fish dish, nicely presented and good sized portions. Like that they bring a little dish of Turkish Delight with your bill, Only downside is it’s a cash only restaurant which could be a problem if you don’t know beforehand.

Extremely rude and unhelpful staff Service 1* Food 2* (vegetarian) Haven't had this poor service from any restaurant in a very very long time. Rushed to order, waiter constantly hovering over us asking us to order Ordered starters first and was pushed into ordering mains at same time when we didn't know what we wanted. Ordered a pizza from the menu and removed 2 toppings. Immediately told I cannot swap toppings only remove. How can you not add toppings on a pizza??? It's the most basic food to make. I then had to convince the waiter to add on artichoke but he said not it's special and expensive... Then why have it as an optional topping??! Unbelievable. The food then came was they got the order wrong.. But not on the extra topping - they replaced one of the original toppings (zucchini) with another (aubergine). I then informed the waiter who said I was lying and I had to ask him to check the menu in front of me. This was actually embarrassing. It got worse.. He refused to take it back!!! Instead offering me a plate of hummus or a small salad. I ask for both and then he back tracked and said only one. His reason for not taking the food back was 'the manager is around'. Surely the manager should know about such issues in the restaurant?! The extra plate of hummus was served (5cm dish and was probably the most bland hummus I've ever had, not to be rude but it's true). I then didn't finish my pizza and asked for takeaway and the waiter came and said 'you didn't even finish the food' to which I replied, 'yes because I don't like aubergine'. I honestly can't believe how rude the staff were. On top of that, my pizza was full of excess cheese and was salty. Finally when we got the bill we were told cash payment only (no specified reason) and was told to get cash from a cash machine across the road in 3 degrees cold. This information could have been told over the phone at booking or when we entered. I wonder why it is cash payment too.. Mmm... Avoid this restaurant please.

We had a lovely family meal at Woodoven BBQ today. Excellent food and service. We felt very welcomed and accommodated. Special thanks to April for looking after us. Must visit.

The food was just simply amazing. Each dish cooked to perfection and exploding with flavour. The decor a perfect blend of wood and stone each complements the other perfectly and make you feel relaxed and comfortable. And finally for the staff you couldn't find a place with better service with the most welcoming smiles, especially April. All I can say is that this place is amazing

Salí con mi anciana madre el sábado por la noche, el personal fue útil para ayudarla a subir el escalón y no hizo ningún escándalo por llegar tarde a nuestra reserva. La comida y las bebidas eran buenas, especial por la mañana y bien de precio para la zona. Sin embargo, no se tuvo en cuenta la gestión de Covid, aparte de las mesas de máximo 6 personas. No hubo distanciamiento social entre el personal y los clientes, ninguno de los miembros del personal usó máscaras. Las personas que esperaban pedidos de comida para llevar entraban sin máscaras y nadie les pidió que se las pusieran. una máscara puesta. Fue muy incómodo y los dos nos volvimos a poner las máscaras entre bocados de comida. Nuestros datos de contacto tampoco fueron tomados.

We love Wood Oven. There is no pretence, just great food made and served by great people. All the food is amazing, you can BYOB (!) and just enjoy. Everyone should go. Also do great takeaway.

Tuve una agradable comida de negocios aquí en este restaurante muy concurrido y popular el lunes por la noche. Buena cocina turca sólida y confiable.Mi único problema es que solo querían el pago en efectivo, sin tarjetas, lo que hoy en día es muy extraño, pero sin duda tienen sus propios motivos que sería incorrecto para mí especular. No puedo entender las malas críticas recientes. Volvería y recomendaría este restaurante.

Very average turkish food. Meat was the only thing which was okish. Cold meze was a disaster... Very cheaply made.. Mostly only yoghurt based sauces and the russian salad was only mayonnaise with tinned vegetables inside. Would not recommend it.

Would say this is average at best. The service is very good but the food wasn’t as tasty as what you would get elsewhere in a Turkish restaurant. No complimentary mezes, no soup on the menu etc

Ordered a take away and they had put in the wrong food and overcharged us (not even the amount for the wrong food) quite a lot, and didn’t include the sauces. I know mistakes can be made when they are busy, but they appear to take too many customers for granted.

Recientemente nos mudamos a South Woodford, y descubrimos que de la misma manera que nuestra ciudad anterior estaba llena de excelentes casas de curry, Woodford tiene restaurantes de barbacoa turca, ¡y esta es una joya!Servicio súper amigable (siempre terminamos discutiendo el cuidado de la barba), recién cocinado (puedes verlo en llamas para realmente despertar tu apetito) y comida deliciosa, se ha convertido rápidamente en el favorito de la familia.Esta última visita fue para mi esposa y yo con nuestros dos hijos (11 y 14, gran apetito) junto con mi hermana y mi sobrino.Teníamos la fuente de carne llena, llena de muchas carnes diferentes, sobre una cama de arroz sabroso, servida con ensaladas y salsas. agregamos algunas fichas y pepitas para el miembro más joven del grupo.Una vez más, carnes frescas, llenas de sabor, jugosas y perfectamente cocinadas. ¡Gracias!

Visité este restaurante turco en el camino de regreso de la ciudad. Todo el personal era muy amable y la comida era increíble. Hemos visitado el pavo 4 veces en el pasado y la comida en el horno de leña es definitivamente auténtica. Incluso sirven lager turca - Efes - que es delicioso.

En realidad nos pareció que la comida era bastante buena aquí, pero el servicio fue un poco impredecible. Habíamos reservado y conseguimos nuestra mesa a tiempo. El único vino que venden por copa es su casa, que, francamente, según mi socio no era demasiado. Logramos que finalmente sirvieran un solo vaso de Sauvignon Blanc.

Wood Oven BBQ. Your food is delicious and we are loyal customers. The reason I have given you a 2 rating is for food hygiene and you need to be more aware of how important this is. My concern is regarding the man who assists with packing the takeaways. I appreciate it must be very hot working behind the counter. However, I watched him for almost 45 minutes, using the back of his hand to wipe the sweat from under his nose. He was coughing into is hand and wiping the sweat from his brow with the back of his hand as well. He was then touching the bread to put into the bags. This is not acceptable. He should be wearing gloves, and using a cloth of some kind to mop his brow. This is very unhygienic and off putting when you are looking forward to your delicious food. Please speak to him about it. Thank you.

We’re not regulars at the Wood Oven but had a very fine meal there six months or so ago. Today was very different. The service was, to say the least, indifferent. Not exactly service with a smile. The humus was tasteless. My wife’s aubergine kebab had monce meat that was almost raw in the middle. We had to send it back. No one asked if we wanted dessert or coffee and the price we paid was far too much for a poor meal. We won’t be going again n

I normally get the chickwn shish from wood oven. Ive probably had it around 7 times. It is always juicy and well seasoned

after walking past wood oven every day on the way home after work i decided to try it out one time. I ordered a lamb kofte, it was cooked perfectly, i really enjoyed it and will be coming back,.

You are greeted by some angry waiters who literally seem they do not want to be there. Everything is a rush even when the place is empty. You may feel like its acceptable due to the number of people there - something i initially thought also. This is simply not the case.

Es un restaurante bastante pequeño con un espacio mínimo y el personal parece ser siempre apresurado. Decir que a veces se llena aquí y no me sorprende ya que la comida es realmente buena.

Siempre tengo el horno de leña especial y nunca me ha decepcionado. Su excelente relación calidad-precio, una comida para 2, la selección de carne es excelente y no está demasiado cocida. El arroz es el mejor ya que se asienta en el fondo de la fuente y absorbe los jugos de la carne. El personal es amable, el servicio es rápido y eficiente.

After going to the cinema looking for a casual bite on the way back to the station, the service and food was very good. Be warned it’s a cash only place.

Let me start by saying I’ve never left a review in my life but I felt like I had no choice this morning. I’ve been going Turkish restaurants since I can remember and I've been to this restaurant on a few occasions and the food was amazing at one point, however,the last few times have been disappointing and then last night was my final visit here. We ordered halloumi cheese, chicken sheesh, lamb chops a portion of chips and we fancied some calamari so ordered that too. Within 1 minute our cheese came up and it wasn’t fresh. The calamari was cold. We ate one each and it was horrible. My husbands chicken was watery so he didn’t eat it. I had some of my lamb chops which were OK but to be honest we left there irritated. The atmosphere in this restaurant is usually good and it isn’t the restaurants fault but there were some unsavoury characters in there which made me and my husband uncomfortable to say the least. Staring over constantly almost trying to create a problem with us. No idea why. We just paid up and left I didn’t even want to finish my drink. Such a shame because the staff are so nice and attentive and this review is in no way a reflection on them. Sorry to say I will never visit this restaurant again.

Lovely restaurant, advise to book as quite small. Staff are attentive and really look after you. Food is fresh and there is a good turnaround times for food coming to the table. Recommend the garlic mushrooms as a starter!

Been having takeaways from here for a few years now but in the last year, its decreased in quality for sure. Staff are the usual rushed and slightly abrupt without knowing it almost. The food is under seasoned and the sauces are plain. The charcoal flavour though good still needs a lot more flavour added.

Collection order, pizza was burnt and tasted like a cheap supermarket pizza. Falafel was dry, vine leaves and borek were poor quality and chips were soggy. Nothing tasted fresh apart from the halloumi which to be honest is difficult to get wrong. Staff were impolite both on the phone and when collecting.

Great food, pleasant staff, excellent value. What more can you ask? Bring your own? Check. Vegetation options? Check. Near a tube station? Check.

My partner and I have been to wood oven several times now and the food is fantastic. We have tried chicken, Lamb kofftas and Lamb kebabs, all mouth watering. There is a wide veriety of dishes to choose from.

Really good food you get what you see and want. Great for a passing lunch or early evening quickie meal. Not the best but good value for what you receive. Staff very friendly worth the visit

What a really great night's food. Popped into just to get some take away and ended up staying and we are so glad we did. The food and service where outstanding. I'd recommend this little haven of eastern delight in the east end london

We went for lunch today. OH had whitebait for starter, I had cold meze. Mains were Halep and lamb chicken shish combo. Service was great, nothing too much trouble. Food was spectacular. This is our second visit and we will be back for more.

Hemos ido a este restaurante dos veces en los últimos cinco años y me pareció muy buena. El gran número de clientes de comedor en testimonio de la popularidad de este lugar. El servicio es amable. Nos sirvieron pan gratuito turco y pedido tzatziki antes de nuestro comidas principales llegamos. Comimos cordero shish con yogur y pollo shish con yogur. Las comidas eran servidas con arroz y ensalada y eran deliciosos. Las porciones eran generosas.

Después de visitar este restaurante varias veces durante los últimos años, y diciéndole a todo el mundo lo delicioso de sus chuletas de cordero son, decidí ir con mi hijo diciéndole que hubiera las chuletas de cordero, porque son tan buenas. Por suerte, él hizo el pollo shish porque las chuletas eran horribles. No tienen el mismo sabor como solían y sabía tan lambey casi me enfermo. El arroz y la ensalada estaba bien, así que comimos. Los cubitos de pollo estaban mejor, pero de nuevo no tienen ese sabor a carbón. Los precios han subido, pero la comida es peor. No volveremos o recomendar este sitio ahora. Es una pena porque solían ser los mejores chuletas de cordero en la zona con lo que aderezos era que solía usar. Comer chocolate ahora para borrar ese sabor horrible! !

Día de la madre, y sé que la señora le gusta este lugar tan reserva de última hora y nos alojaron en aunque estábamos 15 minutos tarde. Estaban ocupados, pero el personal es amable y está agradablemente caótica. Caben como muchas mesas en como pueden así que estás siempre estar cerca de otro grupo o familia y esto puede añadir al encanto (mi señora le gusta hablar con extraños).

We went here last night for the first time and it was totally delicious! I had lots of starters as I don't eat meat and they were all gorgeous. I had scampi, halloumi, the best little roast potatoes ever, cheese cigars.... all gorgeous. My friend had a giant meat platter and loved it. The staff are great, the restaurant is packed- we loved it!

this is my regular turkish and I go here purely for their adana kebab it is by far the best adana kebab in London, anywhere in Green Lanes does not even compare. It is spicy, herby, juicy and full of flavour. Great service here, reasonably priced and all other meats on their menu are good also as well as the starters

You smell this place before you walk in the door, and by the time you do your mouth will already be watering. Most nights it looks full, but they'll always find somewhere to squeeze you in, even if you have to wait just a few minutes to be seated. Excellent food.

Ristorante turco come tanto altri in Londra. Situato a south woodford, serve pietanze tipiche. Posto abbastanza accogliente, abbiamo trovato la serata tranquilla con pochi tavoli occupati. Camerieri gentili e disponibili a darci una mano con la lingua. Per quanto riguarda il cibo, per noi italiani, è sempre difficile recensire piatti un po' lontano dal nostro palato e dalla nostra cultura, comunque tutto sommato non era male.

When you decide to visit Wood Oven please be mindful that they only take cash and the parking is very limited.

I first visited this place back in 2009 when it was half the size. It got me hooked and have been a regular ever since! It has delicious food, fast service and very friendly staff. Definitely worth a visit and maybe it will get you hooked too :)

I have passed by bank holiday weekend in bed, being sick and diarrhoea every 5 minutes. When I felt strong enough to call them and confront them, they treated me in a very derogatory way such as calling me "darling" in a sarcastic way and hanging up the phone on me by the waiter "Aya" I think his name is. I called later in the day to complain to the manager and after telling him what happened, he blamed other restaurant that I might have been in on that day and then he asked me to hang up as they needed that line free and he promised he will cal me from another phone... HAHAHA I am still laughing at the incompetence of these people, including the manager and the staff. Disgusting and arrogant attitude, I will make sure other people know about this intoxication by your food and definitely reporting it to the council. BTW as I didn't finish my meal and asked to pack the lamb skewers to take away I can send the picture privately as it is not allowing me to upload it because of the format and I can't be bothered to spend more time talking about these useless people!!

Visited on a Saturday before going to movies. Handily situated between the Odeon and South Woodford tube, we were attracted by the open kitchen and heaped displays of skewered meats in the refrigerated counters.Minimal focus on décor and ambience - but the food and service made up for it. The waiter was friendly without being over familiar or fake-folksy, and did what you want a waiter to do - take an order as soon as you are ready, deliver food to the table and clear away empty plates when you are finished.The food was fresh, good value, competently cooked and portions adequate - in fact our main regret is having to leave so much uneaten, mainly due to us underestimating the amount of food we were ordering - the 2 starters, 2 mains and a salad meant that not only could we not finish the food, we were too full to eat again in the evening. We will return, but will order more cautiously.

Food excellent cannot fault it. Staff friendly efficient and service with a smile. Love this place have eaten here many times with friends and added bonus you can bring your own bottle of wine. Highly recommend the Wood Oven.

First time we tried this place and could not fault this place. Service to food was on point. We went for the special mix grill and portion was more than enough for both me and the Mrs. Variety of food is good and if you like Turkish food then this is the place to try. Definitely would try this place again, only slightly down side is it is very small but cosy.

We were in the area, and fully enjoyed a family meal for 5. We ordered and shared the hot appetizer plate and the mixed grill plate. Very reasonable! All meats were juicy (not dry) and the 6 or so varieties were more than enough to satisfy everyone of us. Attentive service with friendly extras. Enjoy..

Their spread of kebabs are awesome. Everytime I'm there @ woodoven, I end up over indulging. The choices are varied and the kebabs are succulent. They serve you with turkish tea while you wait for your order to be served. Please note - the kebabs are made only after you place your order, so it takes around 15-2 mins for the food to be served. Worth the wait though.

This was our 3rd time here; twice in November and then Christmas Eve. Two of the 3 times were very good (the other time we mistakenly ordered pizza, although there is an extensive pizza menu the pizzas were not that good). The choice of meat is excellent and the lamb cutlets and kebabs we ordered were tasty, juicy and delicious. You can bring your own bottle; they just charge £1.50 for the glass, across the road there is a wine/bear shop so you can take what you fancy.Service was very prompt and courteously, the waiter knew his menu and answered our questions with gusto. There is also a nice atmosphere but the tables are a bit packed in. Prices are very reasonable. We shall return.
