Wood Oven in Redbridge

DISGUSTING SERVICE & TREATMENT. Went for dinner on Eid/Mother's Day. Crowded so we knew there will be some waiting but the service was worse than we could have imagined. 1. 6.30pm - long line, understandable 2. 7pm - Made to move to a far corner table after originally being seated by the window 3. 7.20pm - Totally forgotten in the corner. No orders taken for 20 minutes despite alerting staff multiple times. 4. 7.35pm - 1 starter and 1 of 3 drinks arrives with complimentary bread that is COLD/DRY 5. 7.45pm - alert staff that it's been a long time again. Noticed other tables AFTER us received food 15 - 20 mins ago. 6. 7.50pm - new staff tries to take order AGAIN. We approach the main counter. Realize mains order has not been put in at all. Staff outright lies saying it was put in. Absolutely starved at this point. 7. 8.05pm - 1 of 3 mains arrives poorly plated. Still 2 drinks missing. We refuse the meal and ask for the bill for the drink and starter. Manager starts arguing that we are impatient and rude, getting in our face, despite us being understanding the whole way. Then tries to convince us to take the 1 main as takeaway so that they can bill us for it. Disgusting treatment and absolutely ruined our evening after traveling 30 mins to be there. Would never go again or recommend.

First time here following a friends recommendation. Had a great experience. The food was really nice and freshly made. The service was very impressive! The quality of service in a lot of place has really dropped but this place was amazing. By far the best I’ve experienced in a very long time. Would highly recommend!

A South Woodford classic that never fails to please. Top notch Turkish food in a lively atmosphere with excellent service. But keep your order to the Turkish menu. It is excellent as are the Turkisk pide but the pizzas are very poor. My wife and I ordered pizzas this evening. I had a Diavola which was uneatable. It was dry, overcooked, little cheese, low quality sausage and fake pepperoni. There was no heat to it at all. My wife's pizza was undercooked, and thick crust. The dough is nothing like Italian pizza. Avoid it at all costs.

We had a lovely meal here. The staff are very friendly, welcoming and attentive. The sharing platter was a generous amount of food it could easily feed 3-4 people. All the meat was well cooked, succulent, and also well seasoned. The salsa was fresh and tasty. We are definitely coming back here and would absolutely recommend it. Thank you Wood Oven.

Very attentive. Food was lovely, I had an aubergine and meat kebab came with salad, bulgar wheat and rice. My hubby went with a pizza 😂, but he did say it was good. And I had an cocktail!

I recently visited Wood Oven, and honestly, it was a disappointing experience. The food was just okay—nothing special or memorable. The service, however, was poor. Several items from our order were missed, and we had to chase them up multiple times. The worst part was their deceptive approach to starters. A waiter brought over a platter of hummus, bread, olives, etc., and asked us to pick what we wanted. There was no mention of any charge, so we assumed it was complimentary. Later, another waiter informed us that everything was chargeable—at a shocking £7 per item! We unknowingly spent over £40 just on dips. Their prices are ridiculously expensive for what you get. Overall, I wouldn’t visit again and wouldn’t recommend it to others.

Delicious food. Hummus and warm bread. Lamb shish was perfect. Tasty salad. Such a big place almost empty at lunchtime. Probably more cosy in the evenings.

Restaurant looks very nice so we popped in for dinner. Server came quick kept asking was we ready to order very annoying. So we ordered they then lost our order we asked were a food was waited 30 minutes no apology. The food was fatty over cooked very poor quality. Would not recommend. Better restaurant in the area.

Ive eaten at many Turkish restaurants, before, but this one, is penny pinching, its portions, it should of been a starter, plus you get one small bowl of dressing, I mean small, enough for one person, with some fat dough bread, not four five people to share , utter joke, Service wasn't brilliant, they need to know how to serve, the taste wasn't good neither, So, don't waste your money here, your better of buying a takeaway, very disappointed with this restaurant,

Went with a friend a while back, was probably the worst restaurant I’ve been to. Staff were rude and food quality was poor, undercooked kebab made me sick.

It is worse Turkish food and disgusting management! Most of the food is not fresh also they use leftover food… also price is well overcharged definitely stay away from this place!

Booked here for a friends birthday and had a nice evening and even greater food. The staff very were friendly and attentive. They really made my friends birthday special, the staff were a vibe! Special shout out to Orhan & our waiter.

Been coming here for years. The place has grown but has always been a staple of the area with delicious grilled lamb and chicken. It's one of the few places that I've always found affordable especially for the quality of the food. Highly recommended.

Wings were terrible. The package was full of rice and 7 wings that were ridiculously small. I’ve been eating here for 15 years and this is the second time this has happened. Never again.

We had been for a while amd wished we had ,food was great,staff friendly,I went with the homemade chicken shop,this was delicious and the shish.

probably one of the best turkish restaurants I have been to, the salmon 🍣 meal was spectacular, The starters and complementary side dishes were also very delicious tasty everything was spot on, all the staff were amazing, 🤩 and the owner is an absolute incredible individual, i’ve only been here a couple of times, and last night we sat on a small table, right in the corner, me and my wife didn’t like that table as it felt a bit cramped, but other than that everything else was brilliant. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ thank you for everything, from Ibrahim shekerali, and angie shekerali.

We tried Wood Oven BBQ with the family. It seemed nice to begin with found a menu online but the prices must of changed since. The food was okay bit over priced for the portion size. My main problem with the service was I could not change the rice or couscous for chips. They instead made me order a separate side of chips and still gave me a full plate of rice which went to waste. I've been to loads of other Turkish restaurants and have never been told they can't swap them.

The food was not packed properly, the lid was not secure on the kebab and the salad was very watery. This meant that the food fell out , the lamachen was soggy . Such a shame

Last night at wood oven bbq table wasn’t ready even tho it was booked two weeks before hand half of us got there starters half of us had to wait so we couldn’t eat all together I had to wait for my starter after everyone else had finished there’s because they forgot We got charged for large lamb shish twice when we asked for med shish twice which is optional med or large on the menu Giving us the wrong drinks or we weren’t getting our drinks and had to constantly have to ask where our drinks were There is no organisation or Communication with staff So disappointed

Nice food, ordered a large shish and chips, expensive at nearly £18. They said cash only while there was a card machine next to them by the till, I pointed this out and they said it was ok to pay by card after that?! Seems fishy.

I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant due to their bad attitude and poor response. I placed an order and had to repeatedly ask for lime and tea. Despite saying “yes” each time, the staff kept forgetting. Eventually, they told me they don’t offer lime and tea but could bring lime slices instead. Even after agreeing to that, they never brought the lime slices. The restaurant wasn’t even busy, with only about five or six other customers. I can’t imagine how terrible the service would be if it were full. The service was incredibly slow and unprofessional. I do not recommend coming to this restaurant.

We come here alot because the service is great. Everyone is warm and welcoming. The food is the best turkish food ever. Highly recommend coming down

As far as east London Turkish gaffes go this place defo has it's own unique taste, especially the sarma beyti. Slightly creamier and Tangier than other places, and noticeably better bread too. Layout is a bit of a squeeze though, not ideal for bigger groups unless U want to be rubbed up by every other customer walking by. I didn't mind. Hope they enjoyed it too! Price is up there so only pop in for a treat.

Had a great meal here with my family, 9 of including kids. The food was great and excellent service, our waitress was so friendly and all the staff were so pleasant. We had a range of starters, kebabs and pizzas, all delicious. Looking forward to returning soon.

Quality of meat is not bad but there really stingy on portions like salad for example £24 for a mix kebab and you get a few leaves of salad I’d be embarrassed to serve that. Will be going to kervan next time.

Card payments available I visited here a few times. They have nice Turkish food which is reasonable priced. However they have packed too many chairs into this space and so can feel very cramped depending on where you are sitting. The only reason I have not given this place a five star is due to the crampness and I felt uncomfortable as the waiters all stand nearby together and watch you eat. Whether this is to provide good service to you such as if you need a drink or have finished I don't know, but for people who need space when eating this place might not be for you. If you can look past that then all good.

Not family friendly price wise. unbelievably expensive and no set lunch menus. Toilets are disgustingly filthy. £8 for small halumi £5 for chips “£5 Liberty” £24 for a small mixed kebab Definitely would not recommend to anyone. no wonder why it was empty. I’ve had better food out of Woodford Kebab.

Great food, great decor and no compulsory service charge added

We have been to the Wood Oven many times, and because we love it there, we took friends there on Sunday evening. I know that the pitta bread and tzatziki is "complimentary" but the little dish of tzatziki was really for two, and was polished off very quickly. I usually have the lamb chops (to die for - always a great meal) but this time I chose the lamb shish. I had to eat the cubes whole as the knife provided couldn't cut them. They were quite chewy (but tasty). Finally, our friend chose rice pudding for dessert and surprised that it was served cold, and disappointed to find the tiny portion she was given. Just about 3 or 4 spoons only. That was poor.

I received the wrong order and have reported it with the shop and just eat and have not received a refund. I requested a combination kebab and got half a portion of just lamb but was charged full amount. Reported it immediately on your messenger and email and have had no response

Great food and staff, reasonable prices. Happy to accept cash which is a positive. No service charge, which is great considering how many places like to take their chances by adding one.

The time kept being pushed back and when I called the restaurant, 45mins after the original time, they said the guy hadn't picked it up. I heard them ask in the restaurant and the guy who was delivering our order said he was waiting for another order. When our food arrived it was cold. I complained to the delivery guy and he just said nothing.

Service was irratic and felt like you was ment to hurry up, as kept clearing the table while we eat and even wiping table while we are still sitting at it, bill was £197 with a £20 Service charge and not knowing its cash only, so was told to go draw out from the cash machine across the road, it was dark and raining so this was not great, what makes this strange is they don't take cash but they took a £50 deposit when I booked it from my card, so they do have a machine just making it a massive inconvenience for the customers. I understand the prices are up as its the time we live in but £11 for a child's meal? It almost felt our face didn't fit, as another table was very well waited on.... but us not so much. Atmosphere is not warming, I have wanted to come here for a long time, unfortunately I won't be back.

Food was alright, it wasn’t anything special! There is no sign that says cash only and the waiter tried to over charge by saying they had a menu change on the system but new paper menu hasn’t come yet! Atomsphere is really nice!
