Wonderland Chinese Restaurant in South Ribble

So last time we were here we were very disappointed (see the write up below) . We thought we would give it one more go.m and we are so glad we did . The staff were extremely friendly. The service was spot on and the food was great . We will be back So we have changed it from a 2 star to 5 as we can’t fault it . Many thanks ( below is our original 2 start review ) review Absolutely gutted . We love going wonderland usually but today was a massive let down . Firstly we had to help ourselves to menus and find a seat , the Diet Coke tasted like cheap rola cola, The lad serving us gave us the opinion we were an inconvenience rather than a customer. The soup had very little flavour and the starters were brought to the table at the same time as the soup. So it was cold by the time you finished your soup. And soup dishes weren’t cleared away The duck was a chewy texture and when the mains came the egg fried rice was egg boiled rice definitely not fried and the sauces with the mains were all watery and not the usual consistency. I am hoping this is a blip and not going to be the norm. We missed May being there as she always made us feel welcome On the plus side the waiter who started as we were going was very friendly and polite

Absolutely superb. We were aware of previous reviews that were less than complimentary, however, our friends recommended Wonderland and we were not disappointed. Service was excellent, food was amazing and the whole experience was superb. The buffet is value for money and we thoroughly enjoyed the food . Service was 10/10.. We will definitely be going back Thank you for such a lovely evening.

Awesome food here. Staff are really nice, authentic Chinese theme. Great value for money. Every single thing that we had was perfect, and we ordered almost everything in our party 10/10.

Have been looking for a good Chinese for months since moving here, decided to try Wonderland after having a leaflet pushed through the door… could be one of the best Chinese takeaways I have ever had, the food is AMAZING and quality has been 10/10 every time we have ordered👏 It is SO fresh which is surprising as it is delivery, it’s as if you are sat in the restaurant. Can I also add that as a vegetarian , coming across their vegetarian salt and pepper chicken has actually been life changing🤣👌🏻 Thankyou 🙏🏻

Enjoyed two yummy take-aways from here. One delivery and one collection. The wonton soup, salt and pepper squid, minced pork with aubergines in sea spicy sauce and yeung chow chow mein was spot on 👌

Order take out from here for the first time..and the last, food was dry, stone cold and tasted strange.

We chose the buffet as many people more than likely do . All the starters were deep fried pretty tasteless . The duck was dry and the pancakes that went with it were dry and crispy . Main meals were ok but nothing I would say great had better from takeaways . Pudding one very small bit of banana with the smallest scoop of ice cream . So if your expectations are low and you are used to eating sub standard food you will not be disappointed . The bill well they very conveniently forgot to take the deposit off . No they didn’t as they take a deposit on every large party booking no apology given . Very very disappointed we will most definitely not be going there again .

So much dissapointed, paid a lot, even tho we eat not too much, yes I know it's £20+ per person... But paying full child price for a child who ate only crackers.. Hmm.. Yes I did told them that.. The food not brilliant, very dry meat. The toilets horrible, sticky floor, broken toilet seat, leaking sink, and the smell... Omg.. For that money I would expect better standards. Very sad, dissapointed and horrified with the cleansyness.. Yuk!

We have been frequenting wonderland since I moved to Leyland a few years ago and felt so lucky to have an amazing restaurant round the corner. In the past I’ve loved everything from the staff to the food but unfortunately this time things have changed… The portion sizes are normally very generous, however we ordered a chicken curry and there was enough for 2 people to have 3 spoonfuls each at a push. The different items of food came out at different times, for example the wraps were cold by the time the duck came. We ordered extra drinks during the meal that we had to remind the staff of. And at the end, we ordered 3 desserts, one came out within minutes and the other two never came leaving us fed up, so we just paid for what we had actually received and we left. I will be waiting a while before trying again I think! I hope it was just a one off because the staff are really amazing!

Great food, great service very friendly staff all you can eat served fresh to your table.

We have frequently visited Wonderland in the past and have always enjoyed the experience. Today we visited to celebrate Mother’s Day, and I’m afraid to say the experience was memorable for the wrong reasons. We appreciate that the restaurant was very busy due to the special day… with that said we felt rushed to order and our food arrived in dribs and drabs. We ordered extra drinks during our meal which we had to ask for twice. We ordered 3 desserts but alas only 1 arrived. We had lost interest by this time, so paid the bill and left.

I'm so appalled with my experience with wonderland this evening. I order the same dishes from them all the time and the quality is usually great. This evening the crispy chilli beef tasted off, soggy and it was cold. it was clear it had been sitting out a while. The chow mein was burnt as well. I called the restaurant and they said nothing was wrong with it and to pick a different dish next time. After trying to explain how often I order this and that it did not taste right they told me they were happy to lose me as a customer and made no attempt to rectify it. I couldn't believe how rude they were and will never order from here again.

Watered down crab and sweetcorn soup with vile off taste. And the spring rolls were disgusting. Had to give it 1 star as there's no - 10.

We enjoyed the food when it eventually came. Unfortunately, take away orders took priority over those sat in the restaurant. Ending in a very long wait for our food. Such a shame.

Ordered a takeaway from here to night .arrived an hour later cold and hard chips curry I ordered without mushrooms came with mushrooms. Won't be ordering from here again.

Absolutely disgraceful service. Food took 2 hours to arrive and arrived freezing cold! When telephoning the restaurant to complain they were rude and no refund was offered.

Food, if you can get any, is actually really good. The website to order takeout is a joke. If you are busy and want to stop takeout orders, say so, don’t let people sit around making decisions on what they want to eat, go through the menu adding items to their basket, then simply hide the buy button! Absolutely ridiculous and unnecessarily frustrating. Won’t be coming back!

Had the chicken fried rice - the rice was white (no soy sauce added at all), no egg, no spring onions, tasted nothing like fried rice and was very dry. So in other words fried rice that consisted of boiled rice, peas and chicken! On a scale of 1-10 I'd give it 1

Great evening out . Food good and piping hot. Service very friendly and quite busy for a Monday night which is a good sign. Better than our previous visit. Would happily recommend here

Our second visit to this restaurant. Happy, friendly service as per our first visit. On this occasion, we ordered from the main menu rather than choosing a banquet. Mixed sharing starter and 1/4 duck. Then beef and lamb dishes for mains with rice and noodles. The food was a 5*...so we will definitely be visiting again.

Early doors but still enjoyed the food and service.

We had the all you can eat menu, which is normally quite good. This time they had run out of bean curd (poor) and, more importantly, didn't tell us that it was not available until after we had had our starters and were committed to eating (very poor). We asked to talk to someone in charge, but they handled our concerns very badly and were quite dismissive.

Have driven past this restaurant over the years loads of times. No idea why we've never been. Got a leaflet through the door and thought we'd give it a try. Oh My Word. They do an "all you can eat buffet" but it's not pans full of kept warm stuff for you to pick yourself - you order whatever you want from the buffet menu including soups, starters, sides and mains (and there's LOADS of choice!) and they bring it to you freshly made. The food was absolutely lovely and the staff so lovely and friendly. No waiting or delays between courses. Don't understand why it wasn't packed out on a Saturday night. (The only reason I've dropped a star for atmosphere is because it was a bit quiet) It will be our go to Chinese Restaurant / Takeaway in future.

Absolutely terrible ordered from here a few times but last night I ordered £47:80 worth of food an items never turned up I rang to speak to member of staff she told me 3 different stories saying they had none of what I wanted in then said they had just got some delivered but then tells me that they don’t want to send it out to my address because they had only just delivered my food rice was cold ,chips wore hard an cold very disappointing as was a nice Chinese will never order from this place again

Very very disappointing. I ordered a takeaway at half 6 and it is now twenty to 10. I called at 9pm and they just guessed that it will be here soon. I received a call off someone again and couldn't hear anything they were saying due to the service being bad. I don't understand how my order was left so late, to the point where it's almost 10pm and I've still not eaten. Disgusting. If there was an issue, which there clearly was, they had my number and email, but didn't use it. I fully expect a refund. I will update this if one is not received.

I ordered a takeaway for delivery at a specific time, but it seems that they are in a hurry to get it off the system. Food was delivered an hour earlier, so we are stuck with cold food. Should not offer the option if you can't do it... Really disappointing

Wow, we stopped here for an evening meal and it was fantastic. We had the all you can eat buffet and weren't disappointed. All of the food was freshly prepared and tasted amazing. The service was fantastic and I would highly recommend wonderland for a meal. There is parking available across the road in the Tesco car park.

The external apperenace does this place no justice, although dated and traditional Asian decor, it was clean, clean WC. Large Family Friend Meal - Great service, hot fresh food, large portions, great flavours, very accommodating! All you can eat, but order fresh from the table. Would not hesitate returning.

Went as a party of 5 for the All You Can Eat Buffet Menu....One person in the party was vegetarian, this was catered for without a problem. The price was set at £20.50 per person, for 5 courses. Very reasonable as the amount of food served was breathtaking! Everything was cooked to our request and liking. The restaurant is spacious, with bar area and they also offer a takeaway service. Staff were faultless and they were very accommodating and helpful. The food was extremely tasty, so much so, I tucked into everything - forgetting to take photos!!! ...the only photo (attached) is the appetizer for the vegetarian person. Yes the amount you see, is for one!!! .... this place is definitely worth a visit, either as a couple enjoying a cozy night out our as a larger group. I have no doubt that you will not be disappointed!...

We’ve had a meal here before and found it ok. I really don’t like putting negative reviews on this website but feel annoyed that this had situation has arisen and hasn’t been dealt with in a professional manner. Unfortunately this evening while eating a shared starter I found a sharp shard of plastic mixed in our food. This piece of plastic scratched the roof of my mouth and has left me with a sore mouth. This is bad enough but it could have been a lot worse. The waiter was very apologetic and said the manager had offered a 10% reduction on our bill. At no stage did the management acknowledge the incident or come over to apologise to us in person. My friend payed for the meal so I didn’t like to make a fuss. I find this very unprofessional as a senior member of staff should have dealt with this. This incident spoiled the evening for myself and put me off from eating anything more from the menu this evening and probably from eating there again.

We ate here this evening to celebrate a friend’s birthday. When eating a shared starter I cut the roof of my mouth on a sharp shard of plastic which was mixed in out meal. I did receive an apology from the waiter but the manager couldn’t be bothered to speak to us personally. We were offered 10% off our meal. Unfortunately this spoiled the evening for myself and I feel there is no excuse to receive something dangerous in your meal while eating anywhere.

We visited the restaurant for first time today and it was amazing! Lady who served us was very nice and had a chat with me as I am pregnant. Food was excellent! Lovely staff excellent food which was piping hot and great value for money.The Chinese Buffet has a excellent choice of starters and main meals and can eat as much as you want.Lovely relaxed atmosphere and pleasant surroundings.All round great experience and shall be returning very soon.

Enjoyed it and I really liked the wasted food policy to stop wastage at buffets. What I did like was you could order anything as much as you wanted and as the food was direct from the kitchen it was not touched by other patrons. The best thing about my visit was May the waitress what a lovely woman.

Terrible service 😡😡😡😡😡 Made an order and paid Waited an entire hour and received a text message saying they were unable to deliver and my money will be returned in 3-5 days The fact they Waited an entire hour to not check our address or inform us is disgusting The fact i have to wait nearly a week to get refunded is horrific

Ordered for 1st time take away... it arrived within the said time... However, when it arrived and we put it on plates, it was not hot, just warm and some parts cold... there was a lot of condensation in the carrier bag which suggests it had been in there a while... the was ok, just spoilt by the fact it was cold .... will not be ordering again from this place... disappointed by many Chinese takeaways by their poor delivery service... We will be sticking to Chop Suey on Hough Lane and collect...

A group of 20 of us went for a Sunday banquet, they coped with the numbers, the food was great, hot and extremely tasty

Unfortunately we had to wait an hour for our main as they forgot about us. Then my partners arrived cold. They did give us a discount and apologised.

Always had a good meal. Last night celebrated my son’s 18th Birthday at Wonderland there was 15 in the party. Food was amazing service excellent and price fantastic. Thank you Wonderland.

Absolutely awful.spent 55quid, our food arrived cold, the munchie box was pathetic ( we had one in the past and it was awesome) the ribs in the munchie box were horrible tasting, and the crispy beef dish we got was also horrible. So after heating everyrging up in the microwave the only food that was edible was the rice and noodles. I rang to complain and was told the driver was sat outside ten mins/ they are all running late tonight/ we don't normally cover your area (!!) / sometimes they overcook the beef The only reccompense I was offered was 10% off the next order. I asked them to resend some dishes and they said they didn't really want to give the 10% so there was no chance. Won't be ordering again I didn't want to put this review, and wouldn't if they had at least sent out a couple of decent dishes after I had complained.

Used to be the best Chinese Restaurant in the area but our most recent visit was dreadful. Poor and slow service with very disappointing food and no concerns shown when we complained. I think it may have changed ownership and we won't be going back until it changes again.

Ordered a takeaway from Wonderland on Saturday via Foodhub - I am new to the area and new to Wonderland. The wait time was 60 minutes however the food had not turned up after 1 hour and 20 minutes. I chased up the order and was advised it was on the way and would be with me within 10/15 minutes. Another 30 minutes the food had not arrived. Again I chased up and was advised I would get a call back.....nobody ever returned my call or answered the telephone despite multiple attempts. The food finally turned up after 2 hours of placing the order - and as you can imagine it was freezing cold. The chips were stone cold as well as the curry sauce. Needless to say for our first experience it was absolutely shocking and I will not be returning.

This place has the best chinese food I have ever eaten. The beef in black bean sauce is amazing! 10/10! I highly recommend it
