Wok Indo in Leicester

Nice food. Decent location. Service average. Good choice and unusual fusion flavours. Heard they were gonna pack up and call it a day. Shame but not a surprise. It is difficult to make a place this work in this area unless the product and price and service and spot on.

Reasonable food but incredibly slow. Our meals were served at different times. Maybe they didn't have enough staff on. I wouldn't go back.

We visited for the first time on a Saturday lunchtime. The restaurant was empty and looked closed, but we tried the door, and yes they were open. So we went in. It was not warm and the waitress put us at a table next to the fan heater, It did not make much of a difference to be honest. The menu has very limited choices, and the chicken is not Halal which is possibly the wrong decision for a restaurant in the middle of Leicester, but as non Muslims it was not a concern for us ordering. I ordered the Vegetable soup and the Mongolian lamb, while my husband ordered Gyoza and the Manchurian curry. He was advised that the Gyoza would take a long time to cook, and would he like something else? So he swapped for the salt and pepper chicken. The starters arrived fairly promptly. My soup was a very dark thick broth that tasted very strongly of soy sauce. The chicken looked like calamari, and appeared to be formed chicken and not freshly made. Almost certainly a frozen product. The mains arrived in small bowls. My lamb was tasty. The chicken curry however contained the exact same breaded chicken that was in the starter , not chicken cooked in a sauce. The portions were small, and half the size of what you would get at a Chinese restaurant, which is normally much more generous. With a bill just shy of £50 it seemed a bit pricey for a restaurant with limited choices made from frozen produce. The surroundings reminded you of a burger bar , and it seemed odd to be listening to Despacito while eating noodles and curry. We didnt have a bad experience, but it did not impress either. Being in an empty restaurant while all the other restaurants around us were full of people was concerning and I think we will try another one next time we are in town.

I had high expectations after seeing the trip adviser page, but the quality was not what I was expecting. We ordered a prawn dish and a lamb dish both from the main courses section along with a soup. All 3 dishes seemed to be made with an almost identical gloopy base that wasn’t very appetising. It didn’t look like the pictures we had seen on the page. We wanted something that was fresh, and settled with these choices after finding out that all the starters/sharers were deep fried. Considering we ordered the most expensive dishes on the menu they were also very small. The service was good but we were told that 2 of the drinks advertised weren’t available to us because they were part of a deal or a drink & mixer combo. The restaurant also has more of a canteen vibe, and the tables didn’t seem fully cleaned. Maybe my expectations were too high.

Came with a group of friends, food was fab and service from Tina was exemplary- so friendly, couldn’t have done more for us- great service !

Was walking around Leicester looking for somewhere to eat and saw the lovely looking food from outside and opened the door and the most amazing aroma. Relaxed atmosphere and extremely friendly service made what turned out to be an amazing meal out even better. Lots of choice on the set menu, waitress was happy to make recommendations and they were spot on. Great value, fantastic food will certainly be returning.

There were 7 of us and each had something different from curry, hakka noodles, chilli and salt prawns, veg fried rice.. to name a few and all were delicious! I had the prawn pad thai which was very tasty. Spice and flavours just right! Prawns were lovely! Food was served quickly. Staff were really nice especially Tina who made my Mums birthday feel extra special. Thank you!

I recently visited the premises to order a takeaway. And I was served by a lovely lady a wonderful smile and politeness. She talked me through the options for vegetarians and helped me with my order. Also in our presence was another young lady with, who also engaged in a happy and positive manner. This was great customer service, one of the best I’ve experienced. And the food as always tastes amazing. Please do maintain these standards.

Looked decent enough from outside to tempt me in, and then food was so fresh, flavourful and well cooked and the service was the best I've had for as long as I can remember. I'm only visiting Leicester - wow do I wish I had something like this local to me.

Would 100% recommend this restaurant to anyone who’s looking for delicious comfort food. The customer service was on point as well. Definitely will be coming back.

I chose this place for a quick bite to eat expecting something along the lines of fresh beef or pork with seasoning, veg, and noodles in a tasty sauce. Instead my box consisted of soggy chips in a horrible cheap-tasting sauce on top of rubbery twisted chicken pieces that didn’t look like proper breast meet and slimy noodles. Never again.

4 of us had lunch here today. The food was delicious, nicely presented and reasonably priced. Service was excellent. Will certainly visit again when I’m in Leicester.

Visited Wok Indo for evening meal yesterday for the first time. Our waitress was friendly and she explained the £12.50 combo deal to us. we ordered 1. Veg Hakka Noodles, Veg fried Rice and Chilli Mushrooms 2. Veg Hakka noodles, veg Spring rolls and Chinese chips very spicy, but tasty and food came out hot. we ordered Passion fruit vodka and Lemonde & Raspberry Gin with tonic all so nice and had a great atmosphere, music wasn't too loud which is nice.

Whilst in town shopping, popped in for lunch and as per our previous visit, was absolutely delicious. Staff really friendly throughout. Food was first rate, freshly cooked, piping hot and full of flavour.

Had the best meal at Wokindo catching up with friends. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful and the food was outstanding! I’d particularly recommend the chilli paneer - probably my favourite in Leicester. Will be returning very soon.

We were visiting our daughter in Leicester. She likes Chinese food, but there aren't a lot of Chinese restaurants around in Leicester, Indian restaurants, yes, Chinese restaurants, no.She likes having the leftovers the next day and it was quite telling that she didn't want to take the leftovers with her.Opinion was a bit divided, with me feeling more positive and the others less so.I have to say the crispy aromatic duck was possibly the worst I have ever had. It was very dry indeed, but the worst aspect was the absolutely tiny amount of cumber and spring onion given.I thought the dim sum was absolutely delicious, though.I enjoyed the main courses of chicken Manchurian, chicken in black bean sauce, chicken in chow mein and the fish firecracker, but my wife and daughter did not.I would also liked to have more choice on the main courses.

Used the 50% discount eat out scheme. Social distancing between tables and hand sanitising made us feel safe and comfortable. Excellent food that I haven't had for ages. Good portion sizes. From the moment I was introduced to this place it has been a weekly stop. As a regular traveler, I visit a number of Counties and Cities and am able to checkout a wide range of cuisines. However, from the moment I tried the Chicken and Sweet corn soup at Wokindo through to the Garlic Chill Chicken as a start it was without question the best Indo Chinese I have visited in the UK.The team are extremely friendly both Tina and Rinku take the time to explain the menu and ensure customer satisfaction to ensure they are able to cater for the customers with the best service. I have been extremely impressed and hope the restaurant is able to keep to such high standards. It is at your high price range compared to other places in Leicester. However, the quality of food make it a worthwhile visit.My weekly visit has allowed me to taste most dishes on the menu as well as hosting team events, dinner with friends and family and everyone has loved it. The eat out scheme is a clear winner for Wokindo. However, I believe with the restaurants own September initiative to continue the 50% off this will help drive things forward even more. Look forward to visiting next week!
