The Sautéed Pork is a must try as is sweet on the palette. Rice and Cumin Lamb is recommended and definitely for the hot spice lovers the spicy tofu is a wonderful choice.

Had this gaff recommended by a Chinese mate and now I know why;menu extensive, portions excessive(a very good thing),ingredients fresh, service personal and responsive, price eminently reasonable. All in all, Ill be back; i had a spicy pork stew, my companion had lamb shanghai style;we both looked at each other and said" why haven't we been here before!!"

I tried this place for the first time this week and wish I had done so sooner. Some of the best Chinese food I've ever had and certainly the best place to go in Leicester. The cold beef in chilli oil and the salted egg chicken wings were particularly good. I'll be going back at the nearest opportunity.

The outside of the place doesn't look like much, I thought it's gonna be a tiny take away. But it is at least two storey restaurant. They serve Japanese food there, and I never before had a Japaneese food. I found the prices to be a bit expensive, but I completely changed my mind once I tried the chicken in a yellow bean sauce. So much better than Chinese! Lovely service too.

This is probably the best Chinese restaurant in Leicester, according to my Chinese girlfriend. Always full of Chinese students, which is a very good sign. We’ve had a variety of dishes there, and they’re always delicious. If you e never tried, go for a hotpot, but all the food is really good. Service is also very friendly and efficient. One tip: they don’t take credit cards, so bring cash. But they’re not expensive at all - £60-70 for two, depending on how much you push the boat out.

Amazing food and very friendly service! My Chinese companion was impressed and said it was the best she’d had in Leicester. High praise from a very fussy lady! Great prices, too! We had a huge bowl of spicy fish soup, aubergine with minced pork, cold spicy tripe and cucumber and some rice, plus a pot of tea and a couple of cold drinks, which came to £48 and a tip. I can’t wait to come back for a hotpot.

Continuing our quest to find a replacement for the New Golden Chef (RIP.....forever in our hearts) we tried a takeaway from this place following a menu drop through our letterbox. The takeaway menu is rather spartan e.g. three starters, but this is not necessarily a bad sign. Here’s what we ordered with my comments: 1. Vegetable spring roll. This was the worst item. Tiny little finger sized rolls with no discernible content. A pale comparison to NGC’s four centimetre submarines of assorted morsels....a veritable feast in themselves! 2. Salt and pepper spare ribs. Very meaty and tasty, generous serving for a starter. 3. Prawn with salt and pepper. I would say these were up to the NGC benchmark standard. Large, moist prawns in a crispy, well fried batter that wasn’t floury like so many! 4. House Special fried rice. Rather expensive at £7 and not as meaty as some........but it was one of the tastiest I’ve ever had, and I’ve had many. 5. Hot and sour soup. This is another item that we ‘benchmark’. It wasn’t as good as NGC but nonetheless satisfying. The food was packed in foil trays with card lids apart from the soup. No free prawn crackers!!! Would we order again? Yes, we’ll try a few more things on the menu. This could be a refuge in our ongoing quest.

Really friendly staff who are patient in explaining the different menu items. However, it took us almost 30 minutes to place our order because the menu's weren't transparent enough. We had to keep asking what each menu item contained. We ordered Tofu, Lamb and Fish dishes respectively along with some noodles and Chilli & Salt chips. The sauce of the Tofu was too strong and overpowering. I heard the lamb and fish were nice, albeit fairly brittle. The chips were too oily and gave us a sore throat the next day.

Came looking for a table for 2 and the restaurant was completely empty. Having told the waiter how many people there were, he then looked at the owner which was clear that he didn’t want us to come and sit. Apparently it was fully booked, yet it was completely empty. Clearly a tactic to hope for larger groups to attend. Walked by again 30 mins later and surprise surprise, there were still empty seats. In that time they could have accommodated us and served us food and made money from 2 diners. Also don’t expect great service, unless you are Chinese, as they are extremely rude and only friendly to Chinese people.

I went for lunch at the restaurant on recommendation from one of our group who is Chinese. As two of us are learning Chinese, we wanted to have a taste of authentic Chinese food and also attempt to speak some Mandarin.... The manager was very patient with us :) Despite past experiences of a few Chinese takeaways and mediocre Chinese buffets in Leicester, I went with an open mind. The restaurant looks so unassuming from the outside and if you live in the city, you may have - as I have- passed it several times totally unaware of it's brilliance. In the restaurant most- no, all- bar two of us dining there were Chinese, many of whom were students. Do not let that put you off! It was certainly a positive thing as the food was so good. We didn't feel out of place at all and had good service. The interior is small, maybe 9 or so tables but it didn't feel cramped even though tables are quite close. The menu has both Chinese and English descriptions so do not fear! Make a note of the numbers beside each dish so you can remember you favourite dishes for next time. It was overwhelming to see so many dishes on the menu and we struggled to decide what to choose as we wanted much more than we could eat! There were some unusual options like frog and offal but hey, it's good to be open minded and appreciate other cultures. Once we (finally!) chose our food, it came out in about 10 or so minutes! Some dishes we had included: *Sliced lamb with green spring onion in a sauce (super succulent and tasty!) *Shanghai style pork cutlets (think German schnitzel/Japanese tonkatsu. Basically breaded pork chops cut into strips. This was a-ma-zing. Crispy, not at all greasy and the sweet dipping sauce?! So so good! *couple of small bowls rice one veg and one mixed meat and seafood one with the juiciest prawns. We shared the food between us. They will give cutlery but have a go at the chopsticks first! I am no expert but we all insisted on trying and it was great fun even though rice was a bit tricky to handle! Tips: *If you ask for water it will be tap water at room temperature so remember to ask for ice if you want it. *rice goes un the small bowl and if you choose plain rice it is refillable! Think of it as a "bottomless bowl" (ask the staff which one on it is on the menu) *scan the QR code on the menu for any discounts available via the WeChat app *don't get caught out, take enough cash or it's a trek to the nearest ATM! *be adventurous and try something different on the menu beyond chow mein and special fried rice. *share your dishes with friends- it makes it so much more fun *take a copy of the FULL list menu from the counter, not just the short list of British favourites - you will be coming back or ordering takeaway from here.

Fantastic food at decent prices. I was surprised at the huge variety of dishes and drinks they had available too. The staff are very friendly and you don't have to wait long for your food also. I suppose the only con is the fact the restaurant is quite small so it'll fill up quickly and how you need 2+ people for the hotpot (though the hotpot looked really nice). Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant if you want authentic Chinese food.

Putting aside the modest appearance of this restaurant, it is definitely dishing out amazing Chinese food! I was blown away by how good my meal was. Came in at lunchtime (1 - 3 pm) and was handed a lunch menu which consists of choosing beef, pork, chicken, mixed vegetables or king prawn, and choosing the sauce from a long list then choosing from the rice and noodles list. You get tea or a soft drink with that too. The prawn was fabulous! Fresh, succulent and the sauce was full of flavour! This must be authentic Chinese cuisine judging from the number of Chinese who were having their lunch as well. And I must say it was excellent! This is definitely going to be where I have my lunch break everyday! It should take me a good number of weeks to try different combinations with the list of sauces, rice and noodles. And that lunch menu costs ... £6.99! How amazing is that?! Highly recommended.

I visited with my son, a Hong Kong trained chef at his recommendation and I must say that I was not disappointed at his choice. Firstly I noticed that this family run eatery comprises Father, the chef and the mother and daughter who run the front of house. I also noticed that there were a fair few Chinese students frequenting the place, in my view always a good sign! They were all having the Hotpot meal at the centre of which stood, dominating the mid table, a huge chimney like structure surrounded by a "moat" of hot broth kept sizzling hot by a fire within. We decided that was very much for us so ordered the medium spicy broth and our choices of ingredients to cook in it. We went for chicken, lamb, crab, mushrooms, king prawns, thinly sliced pork plus a paste that you rolled into a quenelle and resulted in a perfect fish ball, just fantastic. Add to this a selection of fresh vegetables including Pak Choi etc cooked until just wilted in the broth and wow! A Chinese beer accompanied this perfectly and we left fully sated. And the price, about £20 per head including drink. But the quality, friendliness and conviviality of the place deserved every penny and more, highly recommended.

Found this restaurant by chance. Entered to find it full of Chinese families eating from a very traditional menu ie pigs ears or chicken gizzards. We stayed on the beaten track with beef in black bean sauce. The service was good but the restaurant was very very basic. Having read the hygiene ratings it was a good job I did not read it beforehand.
