Chinese Snack Box in Leicester

Those who like spicy food can try the spicy sausage noodles and spicy and sour beef brisket noodles. The sausage noodles can also be made non-spicy to cater to people with different tastes. The fried bean paste noodles are a bit salty. I chose fried pork and leek dumplings, which tasted good. You might as well give it a try, and the price is moderate

When I don’t know what to eat, I will eat my hometown noodle shop. The price is affordable and the taste is amazing, but you can’t go wrong. Even when dining in, the clerk always gives you cash. I often eat their saliva chicken. The chicken is quite tender and not very spicy. It contains a lot of crushed peanuts and raw minced garlic. I can only eat it at night. The cold dishes are pretty good. I haven’t had any trouble with the rice bowl. Except for the mixed fried rice - the barbecued pork was too fishy.

Fabulous , tasty, authentic food, big portions and it won’t break the bank. The staff were very attentive and friendly. Don’t walk , run to this little gem.

Great food and great service. We go there at least once a week. Our favorites are Jasmine tea, salt and pepper chicken wings, and dumplings.

What a lovely little restaurant. Such nice staff, very welcoming and polite. Food was great quality, quantity and value. The environment is nice and there is a good authentic atmosphere. So glad we passed the ques outside Pho and Wagamama and came here instead.

My wife ordered chicken fried rice,house special fried rice,chicken with mushroom.I got a small bundle of hair from chicken fried rice.I have the photos.We were struggling to resist vomiting.Hygiene is very poor.We will never order food from this shop.When we called the Shop ,a lady was putting blame on the delivery boy.I don’t understand how a delivery boy can be responsible.The boy gets the food already packed

Overall Experience - highly recommend the sour chilli soup with hand cut noodles 1. Sour chilli soup with noodles - soup is sour and mildly spicy, noodles are springy, beef is tender 2. Fried rice - average, would prefer more flavour and seasoning in it 3. Service - friendly staff 4. Serving time - 20 mins 5. Affordability - average 6. Atmosphere - clean

Been going to this restaurant for nigh on 8 years and it’s been impeccable. Until recently. The food quality has gone down hill over the past year or so. The staff are helpful but if the food you’ve been eating for years suddenly makes you visit the toilet more often than usual,then it’s a no go.

Probably one of the best Chinese places I have visited in a while. Food was just amazing and tasty. Had the chicken chow mein, Szechwan chicken and egg fried rice. I wish I had taken pictures but the food was just delicious.

Portions and price fine, but vegetables undercooked, "chef's specials" bland, other sauces indistinguishable. Maybe we should have gotten the noodles?

First time ordering at Chinese Snack Box in Leicester. Met with very friendly staff. Not rushed to order as the menu is quite vast, so I went with something I like. Very tasty, very quick from ordering to table. Will definitely be coming here again with friends/family and try something different.

Fantastic place: good quality food, Equilibrium quality/taste/price, efficient and friendly service, a very very clean place with lots of customers letting you know that is concurred meaning that it is worth it. Very recommended 🥢🍜🍱. I have taken the bento 136 👍🏻, not just tasty but belly filling as well.

The most disappointing restaurant ever. If you’re considering eating here because the prices look reasonable, don’t be surprised when that’s reflected on the quality of the food, I got a roast duck noodle soup which was so bland and the broth looked like dirty mop water. Even water has more flavour than the broth in this dish, obviously it was loaded with coriander aswell which made it even worse. The service was great until I asked the waitress to change my meal for something else as I barely ate any and eating more would’ve felt like torture, but her face lit up again when I just said I’d pay, they are cheapskates. so I ended up paying for a chow mein which wasn’t anything spectacular, could probs get better chow mein from Tesco’s ready meals. Maybe I just got unlucky this time but honestly u couldn’t pay me to come back. I ordered green tea and they must’ve confused my order with sewage water bc that’s what it resembled both in appearance and taste, don’t know what it was but defo not green tea.

I absolutely love Asian food and I was looking for a quick lunch. I had Szechuan beef and boiled rice and it was delicious. The staff are super friendly. Everyone's food looked so delicious and I can't wait to go back and try some of the other dishes. The chow mein looked amazing, the noodle soups, dumplings... definitely going back!

Needs a health warning due to amount of salt used

I lived in England for a while and this was my favourite place to eat. When I visited again with my family eating here was at the top of my list. I always get the Pork Mince Noodles & dumplings, which are quite literally heaven on earth. The staff there are also so sweet and helpful. My brother has a shellfish allergy and they made sure to keep him safe. They're also very fast which is super impressive with how high quality the food is. So sad we don't have this place in America.

A very pleasant woman took our order. She was helpful and very friendly. We ordered three dishes and they were all tasty. The boiled dumplings were authentic indeed. Had the noodles with peanut n sesame sauce which was yummy. Also the double cooked pork with good quality rice. Huge portions and very filling. Reasonably priced. Highly recommended!

A great restaurant for traditional Chinese food. They specialise in noodle soups - you can select different variotions including hand made noodles. This kind of place is common in China to stop for a quick bite to eat. Chinese noodles and dumplings are the highlight here.

Best Chinese food you’ll find in the Midlands, if not the whole of the country. So many dishes to choose from and amazing portion size. Great value for money, we go almost every month! The staff are so lovely. Would recommend to anyone and everyone.

I had ordered from this place multiple times on uber eats so I decided to go into the restaurant for a date with a guy who doesn't know the restaurant. yesterday I had ordered about 4 plates to share and we were both full so he had asked for 4 containers for us to take the food home. As the containers were so small we asked for an extra and the woman who was washing the dishes responded so rude and angrily, over a container I would have gladly paid for. It was incredibly embarrassing and I hadn't felt welcome in that moment despite being a faithful online customer. I would leave zero stars but the two stars are for the delicious food and the very kind girl who had served us at the till.

The best Chinese food I’ve ever tried! Beef with aubergines in soy sauce is my favourite 🤩 The staff is really welcoming and friendly, the orders are processed in no time and the meals just moreish! Unfortunately I have no photos of the food cuz we usually finish it so fast that I have no opportunity to take at least one pic😄 Thank you so much for such an amazing service!

Visited recently over the bank holiday weekend for lunch and it was a nice experience. The food was tasty, reasonably priced and portion sizes were decent. Not a big place so might be difficult to get a seat during busy times. The staff were friendly and service was very quick (I jokingly commented their microwave is super efficient) Looking forward to the next visit and that they keep up their high standards (without significant price increases of course).

best chinese in leicester. been going here for years. since 2018/19. dumplings are amazing. there soups are good. the boa is okay. the prices and value for money is exceptional. and food always comes so quick. there captial sauce is very good. they have some great specials the mapy tofu and there twice cooked pork is great. would reccomend. this place is so good!! also the egg fried rice is very good

Was pretty good. All dishes were tasty, my only issue was with the beef noodle soup which had really poor quality beef. Was mostly fat and cartilage. Really disappointed with that dish but everything else was 5*!!!

This was my favourite Chinese Restaurant in Leicester. I loved the service, the owner is so friendly and the boiled dumplings are the best! I was a regular here for 3 years and the braised pork with green chillies are amazing! EVERYTHING IS THE BEST. I came to review because i miss this food place so much and was nostalgic. I will love to meet the owner again and visit if I'm back in town!!

But the pork and chive dumplings (pan fried) were a great alternative.

Best restaurant we have been to. The place is really clean including the toilets. The staff are really polite and carnt do enough for you they even opened the door for us upon leaving. The food is very cheep for the size of the portion and fantastic quality. Are favourite choice is the sweet and sour pork with chow main and would highly recommend this. To people can eat and drink for under £20. Overall experience 5star.

Amazing food and such good value for money! Been going for years, so much better than just your standard Chinese take away. Chicken in capital sauce, crispy curry chicken and salt and pepper chicken are some of my favourites 😋

Its a tiny little place, very basic but very welcoming, and the food was brilliant. Don't be fooled by the outside which is not eye-catching and currently (Jan 2022) has scaffolding above. Food arrived lightning-quick too.

Popped in early Saturday evening for a quick meal after the cinema. The two members of staff were helpful and very friendly. We had a selection of house fried rice, crispy beef and various side dishes. Servings were very generous and the high points were the bao buns and the fried dumplings . Not the most luxurious of surroundings, but great value for money and amazing food.

We stumbled upon the Chinese Snack Box as we were looking to grab a quick lunch. My two young children were made to feel welcome. We were greeted by a very friendly lady. The menu was good and the food spot on. The crispy beef was exceptional. The only suggestion that I have for them is to have a few vegetable side dishes. Definitely will go back when I am in the area.

Called in on a Monday evening at 8pm . Place is spotlessly clean . Ordered duck in black bean sauce with boiled rice . Within literally a minute of ordering meal was brought over to me . Clearly not cooked fresh - whole meal was tasteless . Place was deserted with only what looked like the owner sitting in front of me . Nobody asked came over to check with me how meal was . I was hungry - ate half and left , never to return.

Good Chinese take away but not great sit down atmosphere. A bit slow on service, maybe just on Tuesdays, which also is the day they don't do steamed dumplings.

By far the best place I've come out to eat in leicester, the food was absolutely delicious packed with flavour. The service was amazing food was served in literally a couple minutes after ordering. Very satisfied:) highly recommended for everyone!

I had planned to go to my usual, excellent restaurant, only to find it had not yet opened its doors. I decided to look and see what alternatives there were in this area. I eventually decided on the Chinese Snack Box. It is quite a small place, but I was amazed how friendly all the staff were and I mean really friendly and helpful. I ordered Roast Duck with plum sauce and noodles and Pork Casserole with fried rice and vegetables. The flavours were amazing. I could not believe I had stumbled on to such excellent food and such a friendly group of people working there. I would definitely recommend The Chinese Snack Box for outstanding authentic Chinese food.

Love this place! Sat and chilli prawns are really tasty and the duck chow mein. The staff are very friendly and it is a good portion size. The food is also piping hot and very fresh

The name may be a bit misleading, this is not only a noodle in a box place. Very nice and fast service, good size portions, all nice and clean. Will come there again for sure!

Fantastic authentic Chinese food at great prices. Lovely to be able to try dishes I've never seen before. The aubergine was delicious as were the hand cut noodles!

I have been coming here for years and I am never disappointed. Chinese Snackbox is very clean, has excellent customer service and delicious food 🥘 . They also use very good containers for takeout and the food is always hot and fresh.

Staff here are so wonderful and kind and friendly! Me and my boyfriend got dumplins they were delicious!! We had to get seconds to take home with us. Price is also decent 👌🏻 will definitely come back here one day and try some other different foods from the menu.

I am absolutely in love with this restaurant, the food is not only the best Chinese food I have ever tried but the price are very affordable, something that I found excellent is the amount of food served, enough and very feeling. The staff is absolutely fantastic, friendly and very professional. My favourite take away in Leicester for sure!! The restaurant is very clean and tidy, is a place that enthusiasts of Asian and Chinese food definitely have to try!!

2 really good dishes for vegans: veg with rice, and spicy aubergine with potatoes (very spicy!). Would be nice to see a tofu dish.... currently they only do tofu with pork =/ Not a huge selection of choice for vegetarians/vegans.

Great food every time but please stop using only Bacon in Pork dishes or admit when asked. Its happened twice I was told its not Bacon but it was. It tastes fine but too much isn't as nice.

Fantastic. It's a shame it isn't open longer hours but I've managed to make sure I get there before closing most nights.

Chinese snackbox serves traditional Chinese dishes, really yummy food. We are in and the staff were very polite, friendly and sweet. The food was well presented, served quickly and delicious. Be mindful that you get a LOT of food for your money. We ordered too much and couldn’t even start some dishes due to being so full but the staff kindly gave us takeaway containers to take the food home. Is also popular for takeaways judging by the amount of deliveroo collections we saw. So tonight we are trying takeaway from here. Worth a visit.

The lads I work with and myself went here Thursday 17th Sep. I had wanted to visit previously when working in Leicester but it was not open a few weeks ago due to Covid restrictions in the area. I am so glad that it was open this week whilst we were down there working as it was fantastic!! The food was fresh, portions large and the taste was amazing all of us enjoyed it and will go again next week (i would have given five stars but the ribs were chopped into small pieces and I prefer long whole ribs) The Staff were very helpful and polite and gave us takeaway boxes as we had lots of food left over....A brilliant little place!!!! TRY IT

We ordered a beef soup, dumplings and beef in black bean sauce. The soup was delivered with nuddles in it so nuddles soaked all the soup and there were just moist nuddles, no vegetables and some dry beef chunks. Beef in the black bean sauce was very greasy and the dumplings came sticked together to one big dumpling. Pasty was falling apart so unable to eat with the sticks. Overall very disappointed

Delicious food, good portions and nice tupperware! We ordered the sweet and sour chicken which came with egg fried rice, the roasted duck on schezwan sauce which came with egg fried rice and the salt and pepper chicken wings. All delicious and reasonably for around £20/£21!

More of a cafe than a restaurant in that you order food at a counter. Simple wooden tables, and some bare brick walls but cosy. Very friendly staff; customers often appear to be Chinese students who eat huge meals in 10 minutes! Generous menu , but for me the best are the dishes promoted complete with plain or fried rice or noodles etc...my favourite being beef with black beans and noodles. They have a specials ‘blackboard’ notably of offal and cuts less suited to western tastes, but cheap enough to try! Closes on early side in evening if looking for dinner.

All I can say is that my friends and I love eating at this place (we go every Sunday) the prices for meals are very student-friendly and portion sizes are very very very generous I highly recommend the chicken in capital sauce with egg fried rice and beef in black bean sauce with egg fried rice!!!! Lovely staff too
