Wok ever in Kirklees

Never again! Food was soggy and had the appearance it had been reheated in a microwave. One of the dishes was wrong and we were asked to pay another £1.50 to deliver the correct dish.

During lockdown we used this takeaway almost weekly and never had a bad meal. Last Sunday ordered starters and main and wow. What a disappointment. Ribs were nice but mains poor. Hubby had special curry and said it just didn’t taste nice so went in the bin. I had king prawns with cashew nuts, a dish I have frequently when I eat Chinese food. This wasn’t nice. The prawns were lovely but everything else horrible. Thick and gloppy with obviously some thickener added. The vegetable weren’t crunchy, peppers were soft as though they were very old. The whole dish was very very salty. Such a shame but won’t be using again for a long time.

we ordered a sweet and sour chicken, when we open it in was in batter. It wasn't very nice, the balls all were hard and chewy. never again!!

Had one of the banquets, was lovely. Also asked for a break in between each course, which they did, staff attentive, friendly & helpful.

I can honestly say this is the best Chinese meal I have had in 40 years Every spice was distinguishable , the soft shelled crab was awesome , the seaweed heavenly , the satay chicken aromatic . My Szechuan house special was just that special. . I cannot recommend this restaurant enough And the service was well above part On the whole it made a family trip down memory Lane An awesome experience Thank you so much and the prices were really good as well

I rarely make time for reviews, I only comment on particularly good or in this case bad. I have eaten here a number of times in the past both in large and small groups. Arranged a family celebration, what a difference. The portions have become minuscule. Sizzling filet steak three small pieces padded out with veg. We had two versions both with the same three small pieces. The soft shell crab is at best a quarter crab. The crispy aromatic duck is pre shredded ( nothing like a proper portion shredded at the table ) it is so dry and crispy I really wouldn’t bother. Anything salt and pepper seems to be just salt, we struggled to find any chilli or Chinese pepper. The service is good and attentive, although any comments re the food are pretty much ignored. This is not particularly cheap. At almost £200 for six people having only soft drinks going home for hot cross buns seems disappointing. In summery if you want a quick bite I suppose it would suffice. If you want an enjoyable meal with good Chinese food that has more than a passing nod at authenticity I would try somewhere else.

Had crispy duck, hot n sour soup and salt n pepper chips. Tasted alright, how ever the next 3 days following that were perhaps the 3 days of my life. Firing out of both ends with venom. Will not be using these again 😒

as a take away this is amazing always piping hot and fast delivery.usual 40 mins and turns up after 20 brilliant

We always use this takeaway and find that the quality of the food is as good as a Chinese restaurant! Our family of 4 with 2 kids get a full on banquet every time here are our favourites - hot and sour soup, prawns in chilli spicy salt, chicken skewers in satay sauce, chicken sweet and sour, beef in black bean sauce, duck in pancakes and lemon chicken. Best service and amazing food. Well done guys!

Ate here for over 10 years always been fantastic ordered last week and just wasn’t the same something was different However I ate it anyway 10 minutes later I was head in toilet Since then I’ve heard it has new owners If this is the case I will now not be ordering again or was I just unlucky ???

A weekly treat, great choice on the menu, but we always tend to order our favourites. Very busy takeaway, nice friendly staff.

Tasty food delivered hot and within a respectable time to campanile hotel. Reasonably priced delicious salt and pepper chips.

Food here has always been nice, quite pricey as have to pay for rice chips etc separately but other than that the food is lovely. Will only order from here for Chinese.

I have had takeaways, fetched by a friend, several times from this business and can't recommend them too highly. The menu spoils me for choice, I've never had problems with cold food, and the flavour and quality of the cooking is superb. Very good value for money IMO, and I'm a pensioner.

I have to say the food has always been good here but the thing with this place is the service is rubbish, the delivery time is always 60mins plus, and then the food is cold when it arrives? and even when you collect it can be 40 mins wait as they never answer the bloody phone, need to work much, much harder on customer service

Over two hours for a delivery and then it's cold! Surely it's better to be honest and not accept orders than have hem sent back cold? Don't accept orders which you can't fulfil

As this for us was a new venue my wife chose a range of dishes. As with other foods there is a set expectation. Eg fish and chips should come with a crisp batter and quality potatoes. Here we chose chicken skewers in Satay sauce, crispy duck , po po chicken and chilli salt ribs with fried rice. The salted ribs were excellent and much better than our usual. Plenty of meat and well flavoured and we would be happy to order again. The duck and pancakes came with plenty pancakes. The po po chicken was a little sweet and plenty of chicken and crispy vegetables. Perhaps the king po would be more to taste having a spicer mix. A good dish and filling. The satay was large dish but the chicken seemed dry and the sauce not as thick or creamy as expected. Maybe Thai makes a different combination. Overall good value for money and definitely worth anoth visit

He estado pidiendo desde aquí por años, cada orden que lugar es de forma semicircular de 20 - 30 y he pedido al menos cada 2 semanas. Mi última orden se olvidaron una olla de salsa dulce y agria nada más, me llamó esta noche y les dije sobre mi última orden y que había olvidado la salsa, pero parece ser que no hay nada que puedan hacer y se negó a añadir una a mi pedido. No me importa pagar por una taza de salsa como un par de libra es sólo el principio. Sólo va a mostrar lealtad no significa nada. Tengo una base de clientes yo y sé que si me trataron como la mía que me suelto a todos!Obviamente, la comida es genial, pero eso no es lo que mis comentarios.

We come here quite often on a Sunday afternoon as they do a special 2 course meal for £9.95 until 4.30. The food is superb and there is a good choice on the special menu. Makes a nice change from an English Sunday lunch.

this place is great, everything turns up piping hotthe salt and pepper chicken starter is almost a meal on its ownmy wife had spring rolls (equally nice)we shared a chicken curry with egg fried rice and a portion of prawn crackers as the helpings are hugewell worth the money and friendly driver delivers to your door

Best Chinese takeaway around this location. Really nice, fresh tasty food. Quick delivery even at peak times. Recommend the Salt & Pepper chicken strips and also the Duck Pancakes.

Estupenda comida. El servicio era el mejor que he visto en ningún restaurante ya que todos ellos tenían auricular y hablaba de la otra. Incluso la salida estaba en e-pad. Tan rápido y podría agregar la propina a la factura de servicio. Pregunté si el personal los consejos y me dijeron que no, a las lavadoras pot. Espero que esto es cierto.

Best Chinese takeaway in this area, never had a bad meal and we've had plenty from here, and quite a few from the rest near by would recommend wok ever every time

Prompt and reliable service. Very tasty, excellent quality food and value for money. The best chinese take out i have ever tasted. Been to many take outs world wide and this is my favorite which is easily located.

This has to be one of the best Chinese takeaways out there. The food is always freshly cooked and hot when it arrives. A small important thing to me, is that there is a fussy eater in our family, so if I say no onions or bean sprouts etc the that's exactly what they do. I have been to so many that just don't listen and I have to send it back or pick out whatever it is they don't like! Can't wait to try the new restaurant in Cleackheaton. The takeaway is outstanding, higher prices than most that's why 4stars and not 5. The staff, in particular the girl at the till, are brilliant but she is excellent at her job.

If you do it was about the same time as when Chinese chunky chips and gravy were on the menu too! Wok Ever hasn't got around to the chunky chips yet! But this is a big hint.... Their present chips are very nice too. My most recent meal was a banquet for one which I can highly recommend. I have been going to Work eEver for a while now, everything I have had I have enjoyed very much. I love going in the shop and listening to them cooking, it all sounds so frantic but also reassuring that everything is so fresh because they are so busy? Two other things which I appreciate about Wok Ever is that they have a lovely English speaking person on the till/phone who comes up with good recommends when I can't decide. Secondly, if there is just me eating I don't have to order enough for two to cover a minimum order and I can have delivery for just a pound. They have made a real effort with the interior and the staff were very friendly and helpful. It seemed they were still teething a bit because there were more staff than they needed and some reviews have said the same so at least they are dealing with it.Very typical choices on the menu so nothing stood out as unusual.The sharing mixed starters were easily the best we have had in any Chinese in the area. The chicken skewers were really delicious and everything was fresh, crisp and hot.Mains were fine. Nothing special but good. I never like chicken dishes in Chinese restaurants because of the way they seem to Cook it. Always seems rubbery. I had char sui pork ginger and spring onion which was very good.Loads of rice.Reasonably priced.Would recommend it to anyone. Will just have starters to myself next time!

A group of us went for the first time on Saturday evening lovely place, but the food was just ok, the main course was served on cold plates and the food was just warm. As there was a large group of us we did not complain when we received the meal as some of the others said there's were fine, so when the table was been cleared we mentioned to the staff that the plates were cold and they said the plates can't have been cold they came out of a plate warmer and as for the food been just warm they said well there is a lot of you to cook for, not really the reply I expected. Its not the problem that you have its how its handled I don't think this was handled satisfactory, we were not looking for any discount or anything we were only giving back a constructive comment but I would not imagine our comments reached the management

I don't like Chinese food much, but the take away from Wok Ever was excellent. The ingredients was much better quality than others Chinese I've tried. Will certainly try the ribs and beef curry again.

We ordered this time this evening from here after recommendation from a friend & certainly not disappointed although the curry could be a little stronger.Chicken in black bean sauce was good rice nice & fluffy, chips were good too. Definitely recommend to my other friends.

Came here as a party of 9. The food was superb and with big portions too. Service was great and all the staff were friendly. Definitely recommend and will be visiting again

Went there tonight and after eating an average meal got told we could only pay by cash only & not taking card payments. Yet they are not telling anyone until after they have eaten probably because people will walk away! The manager assured us this was a mistake but as we left we asked a couple of people who had come out for a smoke and they said they hadn't been told! So in order not to lose a large amount of business on a very busy Saturday night they are not being honest with customers. Will not be returning!

We have only just discovered this little gem in the past few months. So glad we have the food is fantastic. We often order a curry and the beef in sweet chilli and honey it's lovely. Dishes are served in fairly large containers which is always good. Prices are very reasonable too !

Telephoned to book a table for Friday 8th April the previous afternoon was told yes we can book a table for 2 for 7.45. I then asked don't you want my name or contact number???? so I gave my surname (thought this was odd not being asked) Arrived at the restaurant 7.30pm and was told the booking had not been made!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So there wasn't a table for us, was not even offered a table for a later time. Appalling customer service. There will not be a return visit

1st visit to this new eatery, food delicious and good portions. Staff are lovely and impressed as even chairs are cleaned between sittings

Visited here Thursday evening and had some reservations after reading other reviews, in fact we nearly cancelled our booking. Am so glad we went. The food was lovely and really nicely presented as well as tasty, the service very attentive and prompt and the atmosphere was great. The only downside was there are no banana or pineapple fritters on the desert menu.....not that we had any room to fit them in but it would have been nice to try. Will definitely go again

Visited for the first time today and really enjoyed our meal. Both starters and main course we're amazing and certainly will be coming back again

The staff were very friendly but they need some serious work on the ordering side, there were only three of us but our drinks order was wrong, our main course order was wrong and the bill was wrong. We didn't order anything difficult and it was all from the menu so what's the problem? We ordered 2 tigers and a coke - a coke, a diet coke and a tiger came to the table so we had to wait again for that to be corrected. 2 of us ordered sizzling dishes but normal meals came out so then we had to wait for the sizzling dishes to come while all the other stuff was left going cold.The diet coke was then on the bill even though we had sent it back. Such a shame because the food was very nice.

Visited on the back of reading some reviews on here and I am sympathetic to both sides:-Yes the service is not the finished article-your order is taken using a tablet which is a great idea however as with all technology you need to be able to work it and sometimes it just doesn't work! All staff were pleasant enough however.The buffet style/order as you go is a great idea but in practice is too labour intensive on the staff.... I believe this is being stopped in favour of an a-la-carte menu going forward. I think to please everyone a fazenda style offering would be a good idea where you have some items on buffet and the rest brought out fresh regularly.As for the food, I was very impressed, they know their chinese food! For that reason I have given this restaurant 4/5 as the foundations (the food!) are great. Give them some slack with regards service they have just opened!

We booked to come to wok ever for my mums birthday, as we knew that it was a new restaurant and had very high expectations, When we first arrived we decided to order drinks from the bar before we were seated, the waitress that took our drinks order didn't know what the house white wine was and asked us... Great start.We were then taken upstairs to our table, we all kept all our coats on because it was cool. We decided to order a bottle of rose for the table and was brought Merlot with dirty glasses, so we told the young waitress it took her 15 minutes to replace with the rose we originally ordered with clean glasses, unfortunately the rose was warm so we had to ask for a wine cooler.Our staters arrived one starter missing, so we had to ask for the starter which took another 10 minutes.The duck dish came with the starters and had an inadequate hoisin and cucumber ratio in compared duck and pancakes we asked for extra but had to ask 3 times, eventually when it came the duck was cold.When the main courses arrived Bernie one of the older waitresses didn't have a clue what she was serving so guessed the dishes and we had to correct her. The food was ok but Chinese being our favourite we have tasted better. All in all the service was highly disappointing as most of the staff were highly inexperienced, slow and were unapologetic ... I know it is a new restaurant but we feel that customer service should be paramount at this time.I have never felt the need to put a negative review on trip-advisor but was really upset as it was a special night and we didn't even come on a busy night it was a Thursday evening .. Hope this feedback helps the business to improve but unfortunately we won't be returning.

However we were seated up stairs in the corner of the restaurant nearest to the window on fixed seating - it's March and it's not so warm outside but you don't expect to be shivering at the table - so avoid the fixed seatingPlates arrived with marks from a previous meal and knives and forks that could of done with a polish The menu is an all you can eat, but without the buffet style making the place a sort of call order service. The problem is that the format cannot copeWe arrived at 7pm, ordered our food at.7.15, received our starters around 7.45, and the mains took, we'll they took till nearly 8.30 The main arrived and was barely warm, albeit perfectly edible, half the items where missing and not a word from anyone to applologies for the delay or a follow up to check if everything was ok.Staff didn't appear to be rushing around to accommodate a large party or anyone for that matter - there was a clear if not intended lack of urgency.The management could have handled this so much better - timing and customer awareness are corner stones in this industry Several tables were complaining and for once I did - something I never do - I work in the industry and appreciate the challengesOnce we complained to the Supervisor, (who was a young chap) he handled us with the right attitude, explained the delay adding that this wasn't an excuse and as compensation reduced the bill. £45 for four starters and four mains (all small) was not value for moneyThis place is new and I'm sure lessons are being learnt, equally we are not the first or probably the last to find the service very slow and I would consider this if you fancy heading there - don't forget this was a Monday evening and it was reasonably busyI really do hope they fix the situation it would be a shame for it to fail - the potential is clearly there.

Dined at the restaurant with my son, daughter in law and Wife tonight. We went for the 'All you can eat' and we were not disappointed. The food was red hot tasty, and quickly served. The staff were excellent both in respect of clarity of explanation but also very helpful and cheery. The price for dri nks was reasonable and so we had a very good experience which we will definetly do again.

I've never had such bad customer. I spoke to the head waiter and he met with just a yes and a nod to everything I said to him.We had starters but we had to wait a whole hour for a mains and when they finally came they were quite cold, we mention this to the waiters they took one of the plates away but never apologised.I've never put a comment on trip advisor before but felt it wouldn't be fair for some else to have as bad experience as what we had.

We came for the opening night of Wok Ever Palace Restaurant, it was amazing, the interior is beautifully done and in my favourite colour (orange) simply looks fantastic, the staffs uniforms are so quirky and lovely too! The staff are so lovely and friendly, all were nervous for opening night but they honestly didn't need to worry. The food was gorgeous, I mean REALLY gorgeous, beautifully served. It was just a perfect night and I can't wait to return, they do a la carts buffet or you can order a set meal, choice is yours. Well done for your opening night guys! I wish you all the best for the future, you truly deserve it. See you again soon.

We always love ordering from Wok Ever - delicious food and generous portion sizes (great for leftovers the next day!).

Easy and efficient telephone ordering, good delivery service, very generous portions, fair prices and, most importantly, delicious food; the Singapore Noodles are to die for! Definitely the best!

This may be the best Chinese take away I have ever been to. The food tastes a lot fresher than the usual Chinese take away. They're opening a restaurant soon. I'm certainly looking forward to that one.

Lots and lots of Chinese takeaways available in the Cleckheaton area however none of them come near to this place. Fantastic quality food, cannot wait for them to open the restaurant in Cleck

We've tried many take-aways in the area and there was one in Cleckheaton we loved until it changed hands a few times too many and the quality suffered, but that certainly hasn't been the case here. The food is always fresh, and portion sizes more than adequate. The staff are really friendly and make a huge effort to fulfil large orders even on a weekend when they're busy, you never have to wait particularly long. I personally like that I can get my favourite sides (chips, mushrooms and gravy/curry) in one portion for just a few pounds whereas most places you'd have to buy each of them separately which can get expensive when you're buying other things too. They've always been great at handling some of my fussy requests and it's one of the only take-aways left in the area that myself, family and friends feel mutually happy to return to. Great value.

Never had a bad meal. We always ring and collect but they do have a delivery service which friends and family use. Really good value, tasty food with excellent service (some days it can be extremely busy but that's because it's so good so I recommend advance ordering).

This is the first time I've tried this takeaway even though I've lived nearby all my life. I thought I'd give it a go as they are opening s new Chinese restaurant in Cleckheaton shortly. I've got to say this is one of the best takeaways I've had. The Thai green curry is probably the best I've had outside Thailand. The mixed starter was yummy especially the chicken satay. Also the delivery was super quick, they quoted 30 mins (most places say 45mins) but it actually came after only 20 mins. I'l now be ordering all of my Chinese takeaways from here and I can't wait for the Wok Ever Palace to open in Cleckheaton.

We've tried every Chinese in the surrounding area and none of them touch wok ever! It's amazing beautiful food! The salt and pepper chicken Strips are superb :)

Very tasty Chinese food. We enjoy the deep fried squid, prawns or chicken wings in chilli spicy salt, crispy duck and pancakes and sweet & sour chicken or prawns and beef in black bean and lemon chicken! Quick delivery too.
