Wintex in Tunbridge Wells

We had ordered two lots of prawn balls and they were actually mouldy 🤢🤮 won’t ever be going back there it’s a shame as the people who own it are lovely. Just need to work on food being fresh not mouldy.

Having read the recent reviews we thought OK let’s try the Wintex. Was it eatable - yes, would we go again- no. The dog was happy, he loves a Prawn. Cracker but he’s not fussy about the quality and they did taste a little stale

Some dishes vary a bit depending on the day you go so I think they maybe have different chefs but we really like the food here. The salt and pepper chicken is absolutely superb and we do on occasion crave chicken balls and they aren't super greasy. Old reviews for this place certainly aren't true anymore and they now offer home delivery locally. Still cash only though which requires forward planning for your Chinese takeaway craving!!

Been away to Cranbrook with my wife for a few days and wanted a Chinese... The reviews for Wintex are awful, but old... So I thought, what the hell, and gave them a go. Totally glad I did. Me and the wife indulged in a feast of the senses. The food was amazing. And only £2 local delivery charge if you don't want to go out. And for a place that is meant to be awful, it was fairly busy too. This is Cranbrooks best kept secret, give it a go, you'll love it.

All l can say is that I use to love a good Wintex Chinese on the weekend , not anymore. Since it has changed hands the food is bland and greasy. Il be in no rush to go back or recommend it.

You can tell By the reviews pre 2022 That it used to be good Chinese takeaway food now the new owners cook horrible tasteless greasy well salty food they put the prices up & put less ingredients in the portions the cook (if you can call him that)? Was allegedly seen smoking in the kitchen cooking The ribs were so salty and well burnt & hard Singapore noodles just a tasteless stodge prawn crackers soggy & old Threw it all away just expensive Yuk £35 For a meal for 2 wasted

I really hate to give bad reviews as I know people can have off days and you can have a negative impact on someone’s livelihood. Sadly however I really felt compelled to comment on the food from here recently, as it was so awful. It used to be nice so I am not sure if they have changed hands recently? Food was inedible due to taste, texture, quality and greasiness. After a few mouthfuls it had to be binned and money wasted. I won’t be getting a Chinese Takeaway from anywhere for a while as really put me off altogether.

I reviewed this take away in October 2020 and it was the best. Not sure what's happened over the last two months as there seems to be different people. I've tried it now twice. Chicken balls not cooked properly, curry now all onions, bland food all round. Also I've seen the cook smoking a dirty roll up out the back. Won't be going back again soon.

Only had Iphone based payment method on me, expected to pay by card. Nope 'Cash only'. No where to get cash in Cranbrook without a physical card. Even Cranbrook Coop has rules about cash back - not permitted without a card... had to walk away. Felt really bad. What fast food place does cash only.. be warned - cash only...

The food is cooked to order and tastes fresh. It is towards the top end of what I am prepared to pay.

First takeaway food we have tried in the area and sceptical trying a new Chinese takeaway. Found the service very efficient and the food as good as any I have tried.

Having read some of the reviews, we ordered our food with some intrepidation !! However, we were very pleasantly delighted. Having eaten Chinese in China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Macau, Malaysia to name just a few I found the food quite acceptable as were the prices. No, its not the same as I have eaten in other countries and is a more Westernised style of cuisine. There are other Chinese take always not to far away, but why travel further when you have this on your doorstep. It is also rather funny that people criticise yet their Grammar can be quite appalling. It rather destroys their review if they cannot even get this right !! ie. Review from Exeter !!

Always had good takeaways from here. Recent visit - excellent sweet and sour ribs but other dishes the meat was quite dry. Seems a bit hit and miss as to quality and suspect some dishes reheated several times. Bit unprepossessing from the outside and really don't know how they turn out so much, so quickly. Generous portions and quick service. Will use again. Pity there isn't a decent Chinese restaurant to eat in locally now Tenterden restaurant closed. Business opportunity? Shame they don't do Chinese duck in smaller portions any more.

Over the last few months I’ve had about 6 takeaways from Wintex. No complaints about the food. All meals have tasted fresh. Quick service. Friendly staff. Always get a little freebie! Only 4 star as they only take cash.

I moved to just outside Cranbrook 10 years ago. I have tried every Chinese Takeaway for miles, and in my opinion Wintext is the best.

I live away from cranbrook now. But I travel to cranbrook just for Wintex! They are the best Chinese around! Fantastic food. Fantastic owners!!

Frequented many times over the years. Have tried others in the nearby area and would be happy to place this at the top of the list. However, the competition is not strong! Fast service and are happy to accommodate some of the pickier eaters among us and removing ingredients from dishes. Best crispy chilli beef in the area, bar none. Never disappoints. However overly greasy fried products such as chicken balls and prawn toast.

We thoroughly recommend Wintex. The exceptionally tasty dishes have fresh and brilliantly cooked meats, yummy sauces,special fried rice and sesame rolls and more. We are VERY particular people and we could not fault anything. Standard menus for two often have more than two can eat and can be boring and sameish. If you set a budget about the same you will find that, unlike in many take-aways, the individual dishes of what you really fancy add up to much the same and you will get super variety and sensible quantities. It's a shame some people enjoy complaining.If they did what we do (and in the last case made allowance for a language difficulty) they would have a really good time. Yummee!!!

We have used this place many times over the past two years because it’s been good, recently something has gone seriously wrong, for the second time we have booked and been appalled by the service, a couple of weeks ago we ordered a takeaway away to be delivered, when we chased it 2 hours later we were informed the driver got lost! No apology but a soggy warmed up dinner 2 and a half hours later ... 4 hours ago we ordered a takeaway to be delivered, 2 hours ago we were advised the driver was on his way....it’s a 5 minute drive...he never arrived, having rung back to enquire the staff member laughing was probably not what I was looking for...hey ho....don’t bother, it’s a shambles.....when you live in a rural area you make allowances but please don’t take us for idiots....

My biggest complaint is the meat - you can tell it isn't good (or decent) quality. The duck tastes as though it's from Iceland and the chicken is mushy. It is also incredibly over priced. As this is the only Chinese for a good 8-10 miles, they can charge what they like. If there were another competitor, they wouldn't last. Would not recommend.

Im not sure if they are new owners but its the worst experience of chinese food ive ever tasted (sorry I re-phrase my comment as their was no taste whatsoever)?Its also very very expensive for small portions The place was completely empty ?for a Saturday night?and the phone wasn't ringing for orders? Nuts? I should of clicked? If its not busy Its crap? I Had spare ribs and spicy chicken rice and pork balls ? I was so amazed? -(and worried)? as they had no cooking going on? that my meal was ready in 5 mins??Obviously just re-heated cold old food ?The ribs were very few and VERY VERY salty !! Enough salt to cake your veins in 5mins hence i had to wash the sauce off before eating The chicken was obviously frozen slices felt like rubber and tasted disgusting more like old pork it was meant to be spicy and flavorsome but it had no taste or flavour at all ?£20 plus meal for a load of old sludgeA funeral directors had more friendly atmosphere than in that old tatty shed they sell food out of? And dont even think you will get a hello or smile? Never never ever again ?Cranbrook has a crap indian a crap chip shop and a crap chinese ? Get a micro meal its got more value and taste

Pedimos un plato de fideos, carne de pato y tortitas chili. Pato era increíble y llegó ya cortado en porciones que estaba bien, pero el último medio de era muy grasos. Fideos y carne chili eran buenas y algas muy bueno y no demasiado salado.

Mira, yo siempre pienso que es injusto hacer pronunciamientos global sobre la base de experiencias individuales platos individuales; así que no tome mi palabra. Dicho esto, esta fue la peor comida china que he probado. O intento para comer. Imposible terminar. Tuve pato asado con brotes de bambú y castañas de agua. Quiero decir, sí, en parte mi culpa por elegir nada con castañas de agua: la clave está en el nombre - que sabor de agua. Pero normalmente, otros componentes seductores del plato para compensar el aburrimiento en los suburbios las castañas. No aquí... En general, de nada sabía. Si abrió un par de latas, les echaron y climatizada, esto es lo que tendrías. Fue horrible. Cuando voy a aprender: comer en este país es un colosal del riesgo. Si no has escuchado los comentarios favorables de personas de tu confianza, no lo hacen. Podrá hacer que se sienta triste.

Este es nuestro mejor local chino para llevar - es realmente nuestra única opción a una corta distancia en automóvil. Está bien, pero un poco inconsistente con variación semanal dependiendo de quién está cocinando esa noche. Es bastante caro para el tamaño de las porciones y una cena para dos cuesta alrededor de £20.

It looks and sounds more like a window manufacturers but wow the food is very fresh and delicious. Now discovered we use this takeaway regularly.

Dreadful. Staff poor ,food poor ,attitude poor. Avoid.being the only Chinese takeaway in the town is reflected in the attitude of the staff and the quality of the food

Después nos trasladamos a la zona staplehurst decidimos probar los chinos locales Wintex! Mi novia llamó para preguntar si nos trajeron a la que respondieron no y colgó el teléfono en él! Nos llamó atrás y dijo que poner el teléfono en mí y la maleducada respuesta abnoxious fue "sí"!! Antes de que lo colgó el teléfono nos hubiera hecho un pedido y recogido pero debido a sus desperdicios modales y vergonzoso servicio al cliente que nunca probar este de principio! Por trabajar en una función de servicio al cliente que yo estoy contrariado todavía existe un servicio tan pobre

For a takeout place, pretty awesome. Don't expect gourmet, but for a quick, easy fix, it's ideal. Fast service, perfectly good takeaway food.

We get our takeaway from here most weeks and it is lovely, it has it's days where it's not the best tbh but it's mostly good.

There are better Chinese take-aways, but as it is the only one for a good few miles, the food is not bad, but if I had a choice, then maybe I try somewhere else. The staff are friendly. They stopped doing sweet and sour pork (traditional) a while ago, as it was 'unhealthy and not much in demand, shame loved that. The waiting area is a bit old fashioned and dull. But the food is delivered fast, so not much waiting. But I ask the question is it just heated up or quick fry and not fresh cooked?
