I haven’t had takeout for ages coz there usually rubbish On a visit to my sister we had one on Friday evening and it was so so good we had one on Saturday evening also This will definitely be something to look forward to on my next visit Everything was beautiful Fresh hot and so flavoursome

We ordered from Happy Friar last night.. good food.. long wait for delivery.. when phoned to see where our food was, they were not sure when the driver left with it.. would not let you get a word in edge ways when asking where our order was! But we enjoyed our meal.

Most delicious food I’ve ever had honestly! Absolutely amazing. Especially their hot and sour soup. Cures me every time I’m feeling low or congested. 10/10! And well priced!

Came the first time and was surprised to have Kung Po chicken with nothing but chicken and carrots. Never had anything like that before. If you have a carrot obsession. it’s a dish for you. I prefer it more traditional with onions and peppers etc. They’ve got a new menu now which does advise it’s a carrot dish. Had the large homemade pancake roll both times, which I enjoyed. Had Sweet & Sour Chicken Hong Style last night which was okay. If like me you’ve been avoiding this place for years as it used to leave you with a dodgy stomach - fear not. It’s safe to return and there is no need to travel far and wide for your Chinese anymore. Thank you Happy Friar for bringing a decent Chinese back.

Awful…. The prices were hugely over and they made mistakes in my order then when they brought what I had initially asked for they made me pay again :/

Worst Chinese takeaway ever! Ribs and squid were tasteless. Ribs and duck were overcooked and dry, squid was mainly batter. Portions were small for the price which was expensive. Won't be using again!

Wonderful food, lovely staff, incredible decor

Lovely generous meal for two delivered within the hour. £17 including delivery for special fried rice, sweet and sour chicken and chicken in oyster sauce. Good value for TW. Thx

Visited this take away last Friday. The order was taken swiftly and we were offered a very quick pick up time. Collected the food and it was hot, fresh and delicious. I had the vermicelli fried noodles and this was really tasty, not at all greasy and full of mixed meats, peppers and spring onions. I also had the sweet and sour Oran balls which were very fresh, the batter was good and the prawns succulent and a good size. My family had a vegetarian dish and a few side dishes which were very tasty and the lemon chicken. Very impressed with the service, speed of service and quality of food. Will definitely use them again.

One of the few Chinese restaurants/ takeaways open on a Tuesday. Had ordered a sweet corn chicken soup which was well made. Was ready within the promised time of 10 minutes. Menu has quite a mix from Japanese, Chinese, Malaysian cuisine, etc. Improvements : Accept credit cards without a minimum amount. Review terms with bank! Upload menu online.

Very disappointed - dry satay chicken - dry noodles - strangest chicken with cashew’s I have had! Won’t be using again sorry!

Haven’t used this takeaway for years , as it had gone down hill over the years & the food wasn’t great However , due to a last minute change of plan , we ordered a selection of dishes from them All of them were very good , well cooked with plenary of flavour & good portions This could be my new go to Chinese from now on

This place I have used for over twenty years and normally have a good meal since it has been taken over by the owners young children. They Are always behind the counter and I had the joy of the little boy sticking his middle finger up at me .

Only had food poising twice . Not bad

Used this place for a couple of years, the ownership changed in the time I used it, the curry's have gone from nice and good quality, to cheap tasting and the curry sauce just tastes weird. The chips used to crispy and nice, but now always soggy, the prawn toast, again used to taste really nice and fresh, but the last few times has had a funky smell, and tried a bit and tasted off, so threw it away, the egg fried rice is sadly the same, was nice, now tastes salty more than anything. No longer willing to buy from this place and have been put of Chinese food from take aways for a while. Won't be going back.

I’ve gotten my take out from here for years. I live quite close so supper handy. Since the change in owners the food has gotten better. It’s was lovely before so this was a nice surprise. However one thing that this take out dose really badly is chips. I know it’s a Chinese not a chip shop but lots of people want chips to dip in the sauces other wise they wouldn’t sell them. These are awful. It’s like they cook them then reheat them just as they are giving them to you. Yes it’s quick but pretty disgusting. The last owners had the chips down perfectly. Even when I didn’t want a Chinese i would go to them for chips and curry source. So if all you want is Chinese this is your place. If you want chips with you Chinese go else where as it will ruin the dish.

traditional Chinese food. they now have a new menu with other asian styles, only tried a few dishes but if its all the same quality it is worth the travel to get it. it is a cash only place so take what you need.

As a family we have been using Happy Friar as our Chinese takeaway for many years now and are always satisfied with the food. Delivery service is amazing, barely put the phone down and they were at the door! Highly recommend!

Ok but not place I would use a lot

Good food for a nice Chinese takeaway as just around the corner and after a very busy day at work when you don't want to cook at home.

Inedible. Had to throw it away. Chow mein noodles were far too soft and soggy, no doubt from just being reheated to order. The one prawn i tried was watery and tasteless - definitely not fresh and the prawn crackers were stale! Disgraceful. Avoid at all costs.

Not Fresh ingredients, food not even hot,ready in 10 minutes will not be using again expensive as well food tasted off different dishes with extra onions added really not a good Chinese prawns were awful in speacial fried rice

Our go-to Chinese restaurant! Good quality food and good value for money. Recommend the bbq spare ribs which are so meaty with a lovely bbq sauce Will be back soon!

Great food at a reasonable price, fast home delivery service.

Had a few take-aways from here but latest one was not quite up to par. Will give them another go sometime as they are usually really good and a reasonable price.

Growing up in area and watching people fishing sherwood lake and be told by people that he has offered and paid people £10 per duck from lake.and actually catching one of his staff fishing for duck,should be shut down forever that duck you eating is from sherwood lake .anyone interested just go round lake ask the locals

Hot and freshly cooked food. Staff very friendly and always happy to adapt to your needs. Sweet and sour sauce is the best and large portions.

A spotless place with a 5* food hygiene rating (I checked on the local authority website). The food is freshly cooked and tastes great.

Having recently moved to the area, we thought we would try this takeaway. We were not disappointed, food is very tasty, much better than the Chinese takeaways in our previous town. Very impressed will return.

We have been ordering a delivery meal from Happy Friar on & off for many years. They are alway there when we need them: After a busy day or when people call unexpectedly & we would like to feed them. The delivery service is fantastic as we are minutes away. We eat early & they have been known to be with us in 15 minutes. The food is always good & hot & comes with prawn crackers as a gift. Good food & good service. This is not a restaurant.

Got to love the happy frier, I have used it for years, the food is consistently good. It has new owners and it's nice to see the have kept the same recipes. It's always delivered fast. Only one grumble is they only take cash, still just a minor thing as it's the best around!

Has opened more than 20 years, is known for delicious curry, only at 5 PM, Monday to rest, charge reasonable moderate, such as the food is not satisfied, they will do one for you again, good service attitude, but only accept cash.

Teníamos pollo en salsa de frijol negro y aunque la salsa era bastante agradable el pollo no sabe como pollo (muy malos). También la carne de ternera con setas el no estaba preparado y era simplemente básicamente asquerosa. Las bolas de dulce y agria pollo estaban mucho mejor.

Este lugar ha sido un Dios enviar a la zona.allí no ha sido una rata en la finca en años.y es genial para madres que quieran para recoger a los niños de la escuela y conseguir el té en un éxito

Me parece que es realmente frustrante que hoy en día sólo se puede pagar en efectivo, no aceptan tarjetas no aceptamos cheques! Las raciones tienen sin duda disminuyó en tamaño recientemente, pato es ahora un pequeño contenedor de pato con los huesos, cartones de platos principales más pequeñas y ya no horno pruebas.
