To Phil and Sandy...We just wanted to send a five star plus review after our final visit to our favourite restaurant...which is sadly closing we have been going to this wonderful restaurant for over 20 years the food is brilliant but more importantly the hospitality is fab. You will be sadly missed and best wishes for the future see you around!!!!

Party of 6 and we each enjoyed all starters mains and desserts. Very good service from pleasant waitress and Phil came from the kitchen to speak to us before we left. Nice background music throughout which did not interfere with conversation.

Winifreds is an excellent restaurant. And quite for catch up with friends. If you are going prebook as limited space. You also take your own drink .soft drinks are supplied .set menu excellent value. But alacarte still very reasonable. Would recommend visit.

This is a great local restaurant. Unlicensed. You can choise your food and then nip over to the co-op to choose your wine! Very welcoming. Recommended.

Limited opening days and times. Small cafe with chirpy chef. Food ok. Parking available beside access but in wasteland type grounds. Can book a private function but make your our own atmosphere because it is devoid of any.Take care of footing as lighting into access very poor..

This is a great wee restaurant and we eat here regularly, both at lunch times and in the evening. Phil and Sandy always make you feel so welcome and nothing is too much trouble. The food is great and Phil's chilli on the lunchtime menu is fab . In the evening the steaks, fish and chicken are delicious and Phil does a big selection of desserts which he makes himself. The cheese and biscuits are great too especially when washed down by your own selection of wines or beers. It's BYOB and excellent value for money .Book ahead I would say as it can get very busy especially at night.

A favourite of my family and friends Winifreds always hits the mark and more. Phil is so accommodating to everyone and anyone and always does his absolute best to produce excellent food. BYOB is excellent and as the food is amazing value for money you really can't get a better night with a better price tag attached

Booked Winifred's for a surprise 50th meal for my partner and what a delight. The service was exceptional, food tasty and cooked to perfection, lovely cosy environment and guests commented how comfortable they were. I was surprised at the bill too. The staff at Winifred's made my partners night with nothing proving too much trouble. Fantastic, a hidden little gem for the finding.

.I was looking forward to our meal at Winnifreds after reading the reviews on this site.It was my husbands birthday, so I thought I woud treat him. First off, we couldn't find the door to the Restaurant. For the uninitiated, it is round the back of the building, and up a set of stairs. No lights or signs. There are no directions indicating where to go, and no sign on the building to say that this is the Restaurant. If you are a local maybe you will know where to go, otherwise beware. If if had not been for a gentleman who looked out from the kitchen door at the side of the building and saw us dithering, we mights still be looking.Inside it is very small, but we expected that.A waitress showed us to our table, and brought a wine cooler for our wine, and provied us with menus. Efficient and pleasant service from our waitresses. My husband had a starter of mussels in white wine and garlic. They were okay.He had the Sirloin Steak stuffed with Stilton and I had Le Rendezvouz, a seafood medley in a crayfish sauce.I mistakely thought this was a shelfish medley but it was trout, sole and salmon instead, but the crayfish sauce was delicious. Some rather nice vegetables served separately with each. The Sirloin was cooked as requested, but full of gristle. For desert my husband had rhubarb pie and ice cream, I just had ice cream and was disappointed to find it appeard to be a bog standard supermarkets own make ice cream. No wafers or fruit were offered, just a plate of standard vanilla ice cream I could have had at home, infact I wouldn't have bought it for my home. The bill wasn't too bad at £37, but I've had better for a lot less.If this is their normal menu, then I wouldn't recommend it for a special meal.

had a lovely anniversary dinner tonight in Winifreds , and we would like to say thanks to the staff and Phil the owner,We had booked for 8 ,but phoned at short notice to change to an earlier time and phil said it was no problem.Dont be put of by the quaint decor or location this place easily beats any of the bigger places in Bothwell for food and prices. The food was in the top we have ever eaten and , amazing since its just Phil doing the cooking. Also a big thanks to the young staff who could not have been more friendly and helpful ,making our evening even better. Thanks ,we will be back.,

Small and friendly with a bit more extensive menu than the usual coffee shop - and reasonable prices. It is difficult to find as the entrance is not on Main Street but round the back up a stair with no signs. No wi-fi either. There is a car park but access is from the unsurfaced track known as Ferry Road.

As we live quite close to this restaurant we visit often and have never been any less than delighted with the food and service. Winifreds is a small privately owned establishment where you take your own alcohol along (no corkage fee - bargain). The chef/owner has always got a friendly word for everyone and the two young ladies that wait the tables are really lovely and couldn't be more helpful or welcoming. The restaurant is set slightly off the main street and is fairly plain inside (it is only a small restaurant remember) but it is always spotless and the food here is truly delicious - in my opinion it's better than any of the much fancier, more expensive eateries in the area with their steaks alone being worth a visit

What a great wee pub. Staff are brilliant and the locals are really friendly. They have live music at the weekends. We saw Rock Therapy, a brilliant cover band who play there often. Drinks are reasonably priced and they do food.

My husband and I visited the Abbeygreen Cafe today for lunch enroute from Elgin to Warwickshire. It is ideally situated just off the M74 motorway. We had a warm welcome from the friendly staff and the food, drink and service were excellent. Prices were very reasonable . We would highly recommend. !

Arrived at cafe approx 1.00 pm, party of four. We adhered to the ‘please wait sign before being seated ‘ for couple of minutes and no one came so as there were empty seats we proceeded to sit down. Shortly thereafter a young girl , waitress, appeared and began chastising us while literally throwing the menus in front of us. She launched into a tirade about ‘in the future wait before taking a seat the signs are there for a reason’! We accept that you clearly expect protocol to be followed to the letter busy or not. However I think it’s fair to expect to be spoken to in a professional, respectful manner and not an angry attitudinal one as we experienced from this young girl today. We have been long time weekly regulars but after this incident , sad to say will not be returning!
