I can't recommend this enough. Excellent food from this intimate family run restaurant. Try the casserole (ask when you order), fab meal in a dish. Wonderful flavours. The Tapas is great for a lighter meal and you can top up with more selections or bread and olives if you are still hungry. Don't forget the Custard Tarts, my children love the ones we brought home. I only wish they were closer! x

I've just returned from a delicious meal at Wine and Bread. Marcia made me feel at home from the moment I walked through the door and I was soon delving into some delicious starters washed down with a warming Portuguese wine. The restaurant is warm and cosy with uplifting Portuguese music and warm subtle lighting. Some of Marcia's amazing photography covers the walls and my eyes darted around the room admiring the wonderful images she's captured on her trips to India. The starters soon arrived with highlights including caramelised goats cheese, a beautiful squid salad and plump tiger prawns in white wine. Freshly baked rustic bread allowed me to mop up the delicious liquor and savour every mouthful. I followed this with whole sea bass. A plump meaty fish with fresh new potatoes and fresh salad leaves. I rounded off the evening with a sweet and delicious portuguese pudding smiler to tirimasu but creamier and more indulgent. Perfect with an intense expresso pick me up. I'll definitely be returning to this gem of a restaurant and can't wait until my next trip there.

My boyfriend and I visited this cute little Portuguese restaurant last weekend. This restaurant is really cosy and cute inside and really relaxing and chilled. The decor is all a bit dated but actually we quite liked it, it kind of felt like it was more authentic, it gave us both the feeling like we were actually on holiday! Before we knew it the restaurant was getting really busy, this is obviously Hendon's best kept secret!I ordered the prawns to start, these were so juicy and flavoursome! These marinade was to die for, I used half a bread basket as a sponge to soak up all the deliciousness of the marinade left on my plate! My boyfriend went for the squid salad, which he also really enjoyed, it was so fresh and zesty!Oh and the olives are good!We ordered the seafood and chorizo meal to share with potatoes and tomato sauce. This was beyond delicious! Even the potatoes were scrumptious! We lapped up every last spoonful, it was amazing!Overall this was definitely the best meal out I have had for a long time, and I am so happy we have found this little gem so close to home. We will definitely be back for more! Also, the whole atmosphere off wine and bread is really relaxed and there is no urgency from the staff to get you fed and out as quickly as possible, which is really lovely. I would think this would be a really nice place to go with family or group of friends for an evening out as you could sit and have an amazing meal and relax and not feel like the staff are waiting for you to pay and get out! I will definitely be returning!

This Portuguese restaurant is a hidden gem located in Hendon, North London. I live about 10 minutes drive from Hendon but only discovered Wine & Bread when I was searching for restaurants in the area online. I was getting married at Hendon Town Hall down the road and needed a venue after for an early dinner for 10 guests. I liked the look of the restaurant on the website and the great reviews from past diners. We were also lucky that it is open all day as our ceremony finished at 3.30pm on the Saturday and most of the other local restaurants opened at 6pm. Our decision to have a casual dinner at a local restaurant was made at short notice so I emailed Kadir (the owner) 2 weeks before the wedding to check availability and was fortunate he could fit us in last minute. We went there a week before to sample the food, see the venue properly and to meet Kadir and was very pleasantly surprised. The outside of the restaurant is fairly small and unassuming (which is probably why I hadn't noticed it while driving past previously). However, the inside of the restaurant is nicely decorated, has a homely feel and is quite spacious overall. We had a lovely meal, with good service, friendly staff and felt comfortable in our choice of venue.Over the next week, before our event, Kadir was very helpful with prompt responses on email to all my questions, gave helpful suggestions with menu options and overall completely took the stress out of arranging our small party. On the day itself, the back room had been beautifully decorated with the few wedding decorations I'd ordered and we couldn't have wished for a better atmosphere. It was a completely private space, separate from the main area of the restaurant. All my guests had a wonderful time and remarked on the excellent food, the reminder of lovely little family run restaurants they had visited on holiday in Portugal and the smooth, efficient and discrete service Kadir provided for us. An ideal evening. This will now be a regular dining venue for myself, friends and family.

One of the few restaurants I know that provides napkin rings. After a heavy afternoon at IKEA Wembley we browsed here on Trip Advisor for somewhere to eat before going home. We were not disappointed. We enjoyed a stewed dish for two of seafood, bacon, chorizo and pork with potatoes in a delicious sauce. A glass of house wine blended superbly. Attentive staff and delightful domestic-style interior. They love food here and others dining had excellent reports of food on their plates too. We wondered whether adding a beans to the stew would have worked - but no matter. It was lovely!

It's amazing how some traditional portuguese food tastes better here than back home! I love the concept of Wine and Bread overall, keeping it very traditional, whether it's the decoration all the way to the fresh seafood and even the chips come from Portugal! It is an amazing atmosphere and there is no where else I like to eat out with friends and family. The owners are just lovely and so caring, amazing customer service and great value on the prices. For lovers of Portuguese food and wine the dishes are authentic and delicious; the wine list mixes Portuguese with some well chosen other nationalities, and the menu varied enough to satisfy a variety of tastes and pockets. A very welcome change from the ubiquitous chain restaurants dominating the high streets!
