Wine and Dine at Oscar's in Ryedale

Thornton Le Dale bowls club held their annual winter luncheon on the 7th February. Oscars hosted 18 members on one long table beautifully set out, with table cloths etc, overlooking the indoor rink. There was a good choice on the menu & food was served hot & was delicious and with a good selection of vegetables. Several people commented that it was just like mum used to make (good home cooking). We will definitely eat there again.

A celebration meal for 33. The room was partioned off so we had the window side of the room as planned. From start to finish what an excellent time we all had. The food was well presented, hot and tasty and good sized portions with plenty veg and gravy etc in good supply. The whole team have been amazing through out. The tables were positioned, dressed and laid with thought and care. Nothing was too much trouble to them. Our unforseen last minute changes were catered for without any problem. The room was lovely and warm on arrival and comfortable throughout. With 4 young children in the group we had a wonderful relaxed time. The use of the side bar worked perfectly. We were able to mingle and mix before we ate and after without being rushed. What a perfect day we had. Cannot sing the teams praises enough. Highly recommend this as a venue for everyone. In all the years we have used this venue, whether for an evening do, buffet food or whatever, its brilliant team have never left us wanting for anything. Some of our contingency came from away and were suitably impressed at what a gem of a place this still is for all of the above reasons as well as its accesibility/parking and facilities.

Great service very friendly on a busy Sunday lunchtime.i am gluten free this wasn’t a problem as i was given a gluten free Yorkshire pudding and gluten free gravy. Plenty of veg to go with it. Fresh fruit salad for afters. Will definitely be going back.

was told this was a good place to eat, so very disappointed. the service was slow as they were a bit busy. we were seated for about 45mins before we got our starters. then we had to wait about the same length of time again for our main meals. all our party had either, pork, beef or lamb. we were served with 2 very thin slices of meat, like you get from the deli counter for a sandwich. the meat was dry and the bottom sliced was almost welded to the plate. the lamb looked more like pork but had no taste. also on the plate was 2 roast potatoes and a burnt yorkshire pudding. a dish of veg was brought out to share between 4 people. half the dish was mash, the rest was soggy carrots and dried up peas. there was only enough for about 2 portions in the dish, but nobody wanted them anyway. there was no serving spoons for the veg, so had to use my soup spoon. another long wait then along came dessert. the fudge cake and cheesecake were small portions but very tasty. however the home made trifle looked like it had been dropped on the floor and then scraped back into the bowl. lumpy custard. i had to try eat my trifle with the same (soup) spoon i had used to serve the veg. what went wrong, did half the staff not turn up for work, or were they just being greedy by trying to fill the place as full as possible to make more money.

Had good buffets here and had heard so much about the Sunday lunches so booked for my birthday. We were in a cold side room, waited a while for starters which were fine, but then they seemed to have forgotten about our main courses, after about 45 minutes I went to ask where they were, they came out almost immediately, the beef was dry and shrivelled as was the pie as though they'd been stood about for ages, veg was fine and plentiful. My daughter's partner had asked if they could bring my birthday out with candles lit, this was refused. Felt they catered for regular customers and anyone else was not particularly welcome, this was felt by all our party. Overall very disappointed ☹️

we went to oscars new years eve, 2023. The carvery and food were amazing !! There was a fab disco too. The staff were great as always, a friendly bunch. well done to julie and staff. Thanks for a great night 🙂

Had sunday lunch here 24/7/22 after asking a few locals for recommendations Food absolutely top notch in all areas and excellent service Price in my opinion very very reasonable. Enjoyed so much we are booking again for this sundat

From loading my car with disco equipment from a party I did there . Me and my partner decided to book a table for the 2 of us .. We was seated straight away .we both orderd our lunch . With in 15 minutes we was served with our food I had roast beef my partner had lamb The food was very well cooked Just how we wanted it . a credit to julie & jody The staff very professional . Booked Sunday lunch after social bowling session, We invited our daughter and partner to join us we all agreed a beautiful meal and will certainly come again top marks to cook and waiting on staff.

I have attended many parties here, ranging from weddings, christenings, birthday parties etc. I have even booked the venue for my own events. The food is excellent and the drinks reasonable priced and cant wait to try their breakfast.

I would fully recommend Wine and Dine at Oscars for a wedding venue. Julie,Jodie and the rest of the team put so much hard work and effort into making our day the best day of our lives. Sunday lunch at Oscars - yet again an outstanding success. We regularly attend Oscars for Sunday lunch and have never yet been disappointed. Good, honest home cooking nothing fancy just great food. Combine this with friendly, cheerful staff and it’s like having lunch at home without the washing up afterwards. Haven’t found anywhere else locally to better Oscars for value for money and quality.

My friend and I visited here last tuesday for lunch I had the roast beef and my friend had the steak pie . We both enjoyed our meal and we both had puddings . Everything was homemade. Well worth a visit and it was also very good value.

Called in on a very busy day without booking at 2.00 but they managed to fit us in.Choice of about 6 startrers,wife had prawn cocktail,i had the chicken liver pate,both very tasty but be warned the pate portion is large and even with half a loaf of warm bread did not have enough to spread the pate on! Both had the roast pork and veg,again tasty and generous portions.Wife had baileys cheesecake for pudding again generous portion and tasty,i was stuffed.This is the old bowling club but unlike the old days the room was warm and the gents toilets are vastly improved. Will return.

Went to Oscar's for Sunday lunch with all the family for my husbands birthday. The food was fantastic, really tasty and plentiful.even though they were really busy they accommodated our two younger grandchildren with food not normally on their menu for Sunday lunch. We all thoroughly enjoyed it and will be back. Thankyou all.

I had my wedding day here on the 10th of June 2017 and it was amazing!! Nothing was too much for Julie Jody and the team! From the planning to the day, they were so helpful! All the guests loved the food and kept commenting on how nice it was! The next day we went to collect our bits and stayed for our dinner and that was just as good! If i could give them 10 stars I Would!! Great place to have any function the room is so big! Also great if you just fancy a bite to eat all fresh home cooked food just what you want! We held my daughters christening party at this Great venue, everyone commented how brilliant the buffet was! The staff had decorated the room beautifully! We also hired a bouncy castle which the room is big enough to house so perfect location with families! All the staff were very helpful and made the day go hassle free! Would recommend for any function!!
