Wimpy Restaurant in King's Lynn and West Norfolk

Very very slow and got the order wrong! It’s now been 15 minutes and no kids dessert! We have been coming to wimpy for over 40 years and this was by far the worst experience.

Delighted to spot this modern day Wimpy in Kings Lynn town centre so headed in for dinner. The place was spotless and well maintained and our meals were served up in a matter of minutes. Portions were quite small but tasty. Customer service a bit hit and miss. We had a small bill query and as we talked about it with the lady on the till our server ( young man with bleached blonde hair) came and stood right beside us frowning with arms folded like we had dared to query something he had got wrong. A brush up on customer service for all staff would make this a little gem!

Have been an avid fan of wimpy for several years, however today that changed. It was 0915 and I was visiting with my daughter opened the door to be shouted at by a very rude member of staff "we are not open yet" Now firstly if you are not open keep the door locked and secondly this member of staff needs to go back to charm school and learn some manners " sorry we are not open yet" would of been a much better response or even " if you would like to come and sit down and look at the menu, but we are not open for another 15 minutes " would of been even better! Needless to say we went away and found much better offerings and price at tipsy teapot! Goodbye wimpy!

What a lovely wimpy friendly staff and very polite especially Nike and demi and so clean far better than some other wimpys we have been in far better than the colchester one keep up the good work girls

Wimpy used to be a big thing when I was a kid. Then Burger King, an American company bought up the chain and turned most of them into Burger King outlets in the 80s selling tasteless 'patties' in equally tasteless 'buns' served up in a soggy wrapper. I was worried this Wimpy had gone Burger King style but I was pleasantly surprised. Gave up on McDonalds and Burger King years ago with their vile, tasteless offerings. A joke. And was amused when one reviewer said that as soon as he had arrived in Lynn he headed for Burger King! Why? Wimpy is what it is. It ain't haute cuisine but it's honest. My wife had a chicken burger and I had a straightforward burger. Good service and served at your table at a quid or so more than the soggy rubbish that McDonalds or Burger King provide. Was going to give a four star simply on the basis that the food isn't five star but that'd be the mark of of a snob - the staff are really good and the food is perfectly good - I will be back - and good luck to Wimpy with burgers that come in crispy buns and fries that you can actually taste. Unlike the pallid offerings that some people seem to prefer from McDonalds or Burger King.

Super staff, lovely and clean, and plenty of choices. Our breakfasts were just the best, the eggs were so good, I cant remember where I have had any so nice! Great coffee too. I had not been in here for a long time, so we have been missing out!, will definitely be returning, thanks for a really enjoyable time.

We went in towards the end of the day. Staff were cleaning but were very efficient and attentive. Food arrived quickly. You know what you're going to get and it'd always good and tasty. Definitely our go to place in Kings Lynn

We always make a bee line for wimpy as it's the highlight when we come to King's Lynn. Staff are always polite and friendly. We had the Wednesday burger deal, any burger, fries and drink (including a hot drink) for £7.50.....you can't beat it . I have noticed on some past reviews about it being expensive....yes it is more expensive than other burger places ...but at least you get served at your table, the food is hot and served in proper plates and cutlery.....and after half an hour, you don't feel hungry again!! It's also great to see the toasted teacake back on the menu....we did miss this when it was removed. Keep up the good work!!

Visited lynn today, headed for Burger King which was shut then walked past Wimpy which I didn't even know was a thing anymore so decided to pop in. The waitresses were all very attentive and didn't have to wait long for order to be taken. Children's meals are good value, meal, side, drink and dessert for less than £6 although you had to have chips or beans not both which was weird because I can't imagine just beans but never the less it was fine and can't argue for price. Adult burgers don't come with chips which is odd. The prices of a regular chips comes in at over £2 and onion rings just over £3 and they're only regular frozen style. Burgers were fine, tasted okay, really nothing special and just an average burger. Our total came to £35 which is okay but still a lot for a simple burger meal really. Burger King is far more superior and flavourful and a lot cheaper. All in all an acceptable and fine experience but average food and slightly pricey we can say we tried wimpy now but shall go back to burger King next time.

I haven’t been here in easily 30 years and the place is still great!! It was ran with precision and all the girls were fantastic, every table cared for from cleaning and serving and nothing was too much. The wimpy burger was the same with the diced onions just like it’s always been. A proper nostalgic trip down memory lane!! Can’t wait to return 👌

Came to Kings Lynn for a couple of hours and wanted a drink and a bite to eat Walked past the Wimpy and just for a bit of nostalgia thought we'd give it a go - havent been in a wimpy for at least 15 years We both ordered a sausage and egg muffin and hot drink which arrived really quickly, freshly cooked (not kept warm under a heat lamp) and piping hot. It was absolutely lovely Im not normally one to rave about something as trivial as a sausage muffin but it was really was great! The staff were all friendly and the seating area (although not big) was clean and nicely set out

Visited here with my 2 children for a treat, order was taken quickly, and food was quick to arrive. All was very nice and staff friendly.

Tried breakfast for the first time today and it didn't disappoint. Lovely fresh muffin and brilliant quality produce. Left feeling very full and ready for a day shopping. Service was great too.... Very polite staff.

Excellent service, excellent food. Lovely chips and the Half Pounder burger was lush. You get proper plates and glasses and knifes and forks. I highly recommend it

This place is RIDICULOUSLY expensive - cost almost £30 for halfpounder/chips and quarterpounder/chips and 2 milkshakes. Visited less than a year ago and it was between £15-20 (when burgers included chips!). We came here for my birthday treat and I can assure you that we will never come here again! This price hike is a rip off!

My Gran used to take me to Wimpy as a kid in Edinburgh (which sadly no longer exists) so when I saw this one whilst on holiday I had to take my family in! The staff were really friendly, a wide selection of items on the menu and all the food arrived hot and fresh. would definitely recommend.

Very hard to rate when only outside seating but they are trying very hard . Enjoyable food but read the menu thorough to get the best value . Staff pleasant and on top of covid covid regs

I ordered the pancakes, with bacon and scrambled eggs. It was so delicious, the pancakes tasted freshly made (unlike the McDonald's pancake breakfast I usually get). The sweet and savoury of the syrup with the bacon was great. I also got a hash brown on the side which was a really generous size. It was greasy but in a good, guilty pleasure, way. Definitely would recommend, staff were friendly too. One critique- more seating would be good.

We travel from Boston to shop in Kings Lynn. We arrived at lunch time and headed straight for Wimpy as we usually do!!Great social distancing measures.... Great food and great service. All staff are really friendly and polite. It was a great start to our shopping day!!

I love wimpy and have not been for years, a couple of ladies looked after us and they were fab!!! Definitely deserve a pay rise! We visited 2/10/20 at 5.15 pm. Food was fabulous and with us being fussy with sauces etc they got it right first time!!! We all had desserts and also excellent. A gem of a place and staff are fabulous. A star to you guys x

My Aunty, cousin, sister and grandma have recently moved up to Littleport. Me and my family decieded to have a nice day out in Kings Lynn and normally we dont stop off to have a meal but today we did, and I'm glad we did. We were walking around and came across Wimpy, I had never had one before. We sat down and the service was amazing, took our order and we didnt have long to wait for our food or drink. The food was amazing. Will be coming again.

Today we visited the Wimpy Restaurant. My Wife is in a wheelchair, staff didn't bother even helping with the door even though there was a couple of people looking. So we thought ok we will get some help with the seating at a table. I wheeled my Wife around for a minute or so trying to get some help. But no, nothing, they just carried on looking or pretending to be busy. Disgraceful in this day and age. I wheeled my Wife straight out. We will never frequent this restaurant ever again.

Excellent experience every visit, lovely staff members, nothing is too much trouble! Couldn't recommend a more family friendly place in King's Lynn!

We had to go and visit the Wimpy, the service was quick and food not bad, I had the bender in a bun combo and Mrs youknowthescore had the fishfinger burger, along with some Cheese and Onion rings, all cooked well, the decor is getting a bit scruffy, but clean, go and get yourself some nostalgia.

I visited the restuarant today on my arrival to kings lynn .. I was greeted by a really nice gentleman , who showed me to the table upon entering , The service was fantastic considering how busy it was during the lunchtime rush . The staff were friendly and so efficent ...The restuarant was spotlessy clean .A great menu with a varity of choices that definatley caters for all and so reasonably priced too . The food was REALLY tasty . With out a doubt i shall definatley visit again . Thankyou wimpy for the great exprience !

I Visited While On Buisness Saturday The 28th Of September, After My Last Visit Left Me Disatisfied. Was Greated By A Gentleman, Who I Assume To Be The New Owner, Great Service And Great Food. So Glad I Give It Another Chance A Lot Of Improvments Have Cleary Been Made. Keep Up The Good Work !!

What a find in Kings Lynn. I didn't know Wimpy were still trading. The service was excelent. The food was great and the menu varied. Its not a particularly big place but the atmosphere was good if not a little noisy. Every body in the group of 6 i was in was more than happy with the food they had. I will definitely be going back, as i want to try out the rest of the menu, mostly I want to try the knickerbocker glory

popped in for drinks after a lot of travelling, I think the staff recognised that we were not local and told us where to get drinks etc, the place was really clean, I took me back to my childhood when we had a Wimpy in our town.

Service and food very good,happy helpful staff. Our Granddaughter enjoyed the Knickerbocker Glory 😊

Liked new menu and mostly food nice, however apple torte was actually a tart and jacket had large bad patch I couldn't eat. Also health and safety in serving area could see a pile of chips left on floor and not swept and one staff slipped.

Treated my Nan to lunch at the Wimpy today. We always used to go to the Wimpy after doing Christmas shopping so haven’t been in years. Food was lovely, we both had chicken strips and chips. Good portion sizes. Only downfall was my nans food came before our drinks and the waitress had missed off my order so had to wait around 10 minutes for mine to come out. My Nan also has a lime milkshake that was definitely overpriced as she said it wasn’t that nice.

Decided to chance the toilets at wimpy as the last time they were awful, this time... squalid!

We stopped in for lunch on Sunday afternoon for a laugh as we hadn't been in a Wimpy for 20 years and was pleasantly surprised. Obviously it's a burger and chips type place but there's lots of choice and the food was obviously freshly cooked. The waiting staff were very polite and efficient especially the young lad, the only miserable looking person was the woman (we assume the manager) dressed in black, she doesn't do the place any favours.It was definately better than the KFC that we were going to grab.

Just stopped here for lunch. Decided to have the chicken burger thoroughly enjoyed it and our waitress was very helpful. Will return :)

Not many around so we went in at lunch time after telling our grandkids how good this would be they came. WHAT a dissapointment the whole meal was for everyone. Did nothing to encourage us to go again

In is the first time I have visited despite living here for almost 40 years, but the café across the road was full. I waited around five minutes before I was asked if I would like a menu. When I ordered it took 30 minutes for the food to arrive. It is not totally the fault of the staff, as the place was very busy, but perhaps one or two more bodies might have helped. When the food arrived it was pretty standard. The menu seems to be mostly burger and chip type fare.

We popped in for some lunch on a busy Sunday and the place was heaving and only 2 members of staff working front of house so the service was really slow, the staff we saw were friendly and helpful but they needed some help, being in catering myself I wanted to jump up and lend a hand. The food was really good though and good value. We ordered a second drink which didn’t arrive before we were already ready to leave, I think they need some summer recruits! Pop in if you’ve got time to spare!

Had the best meal at The Wimpy Bar back in June! It can be difficult to find a good vegetarian option on a menu, but Wimpy hit the nail on the head. We had the Lemon and Pepper Quorn burger and it was just amazing! It was like ordering a meal from my meat eating days - not a goats cheer tart in sight (thank goodness!) Normal, hearty food - simple but wonderful. Best vegetarian meal I've eaten out!

Situated in the town centre and easy to find. Our food orders were taken and our food arrived fairly quickly. Pleasant staff. Would however be nice to see more vegetarian options. ( all the salads contained meat). The toilets are located upstairs, but there is a disabled toilet downstairs. Food prices reasonable for breakfast, lunch or snacks.

Just your average fast food joint with waitress service,service was quick and efficent but food was just average,not much else to say other than a quick ok lunch stop

I have visited this lovely restaurant several times, and I have always had excellent service here. The restaurant is consistently warm and spotlessly clean; the young staff are invariably friendly and helpful. The decor has a charming 1960s feel to it and I like the cosy banquettes by the window (to the left hand side of the door as you go in).

We love Wimpy & the food here was every bit as good as it promises to be. The waiting staff were friendly when our party of 5 arrived on a Saturday lunchtime. Although not every table was occupied, there were many that simply hadn't been cleared, showing that this restaurant is very clearly understaffed. We cleared the table, with help from the staff and placed our order. 3 of our meals were delivered, but 2 of them were completely forgotten, so when we enquired after 15 minutes where our other two meals were, there was a panic as they realised they'd been overlooked. The meals arrived quite promptly after that and we enjoyed them very much, but another example of how understaffed this place is. Shame really as otherwise, couldn't fault it.

Went there with my friend after some shopping in town. Staff was very friendly and food was served pretty quick. I had a open mushroom burger, it was nice but a bit too greasy for me.

I paid for a basic double cheese burger £5 and then put chips in the same plate, charging another £2 ,average quality for that price is kind of rip off . I not back again

Four of us stopped for a coffee. Waitress service. it took over 15 minutes for the 4 staff on duty to make 3 coffees and one milkshake was charged almost £10 for this would have understood if the place was heaving however other than us two people inside already eating and no one else waiting. Will not be returning here again

went to this wimpy restaunt this week with young family haven't been in one for many years,and I was surprised thought it was going to be like burger place with mc name the chicken berger I had was very large with thick chicken and good...

I ate here only once and had a coffee also waited ages to be served .Food was not well presented I had a burger and chips chips weren't fully cooked and burger had hardly any salad on it all all it was expensive and very bad quality.Coffee was ok but in a huge mug and tepid.I would not eat here again.Also the toilets were far away upstairs and smelled terrible they were dirty and unsanitary.

Visited for lunch. I had a jacket potato my basic ask was- please put the butter on- beans first cheese on topIt come with butter on the side & cheese on the bottom. When I told the waitress she just stared at me! Then when a person come in who was talking to himself-possibly mental illness two waitresses decided to start laughing at him. I visit wimpy around once a month and always get served by friendly staff. Prices are reasonable and I always enjoy the food there.

Many years ago, before the arrival of an American clown with a Scottish surname, Wimpy was a name known almost everywhere. In Coventry, where I was brought up, there were four within the town centre alone. Gradually they disappeared. I used to enjoy eating there as a teenager so when I found this one in King's Lynn I put it on my list of places to go.Several months later on a day visit I called in for lunch. It was larger than the ones I had known but the look and the feel was still the Wimpy I remembered. There was still table service too.The waitresses – for they were still all female – were busy clearing tables, taking and delivering order and generally ensuring all was well.I was seated very quickly and provided with a menu. Shortly after, despite the restaurant being busy, I was able to order an old favourite, Cheeseburger and Chips with a coffee. My drink arrived quite quickly and I noticed a couple of changes...the cup seemed larger and it came with a caramel biscuit (never got those in the old days!)Sadly, when my meal arrived it wasn't quite as I expected. On a positive note the portion of chips was much larger. However the cheeseburger had originated as including salad and tomato which I has ask to be left out. Towards the end of my meal I discovered a slice of tomato lurking under the burger. Clearly they are either prepared in batches or delivered ready to cook. Either way it wasn't a plain cheeseburger. It didn't taste as nice as the Wimpy of old either, but I was hungry so I didn't leave much.My table was cleared quickly and shortly after I was asked if I was ready to order. The service is indeed attentive. I paid shortly after and decided to visit the toilet before leaving. There is an accessible toilet and a baby change on the ground floor. However, all other customers have to go downstairs, round a corner and upstairs again to find the separate ladies and gents toilets.Whilst I was a little disappointed by my experience – sometimes it is best to let memories stay as memories – clearly plenty of other customers were not. I can't fault the cleanliness, the service of the staff on duty or the coffee. Please don't be put off by my experience!

The food is good and arrives quickly. It's also of good quality and there's a good selection. I think it can be be more spacious and perhaps a furniture update. Also I think the staff need to be more alert and pleasant as they aren't very "with it". Overall a good restaurant.

Just returned to Boston after a lovely day shopping in Kings Lynn.As it was my birthday, my partner asked me where I would like to go to lunch and straight away I said Wimpy!! I remember these restaurants as I grew up with one in Spalding, however it closed down. I had the chicken burger and my partner had the mega burger. Both were excellently cooked and extremely fresh. Service was extremely polite and prompt.I really miss these restaurants...why did they all go???!!!I understand that due to fast food competition on the high street these establishments were possibly pushed out, bur the quality and service is so much nicer!!!

Went for lunch here today with some family members. Service was quick and the cutlery/plates were super clean. Pepsi was a bit flat however, the food was excellent. Hot, not greasy and prices were good. Only thing I could fault was the lack of attention once we had our meals. We had to go to the counter and ask for the bill which isn't usually the case. Overall a good lunch and would return!

Great breakfast menu, very nice waitresses. Quite busy in the morning but possible to find a seat. Descent dinning on the budget, good vegetarian options.

Always found the food very well cooked and presented. Staff really polite and helpful at all times, I've even had to phone up to see if I had left a shopper in the cafe opposite, whom does not have incoming calls, and they popped across, no problem to ask whilst I stayed on the phone.. Breakfast was substantial, well cooked. The wimpy burgers are always very tasty.. The chips and extras are yummy.. Can't complain about anything really. Good view from all angles of the shop to people watch. Close o car parks.

Wimpy burgers are the best on the market shame there isn't more as they put Mac D to shame ..nice little eatery with nice staff.. Will def come again

Back in 79 my wife had a craving for Wimpy Cheese Burgers (didn't eat fast food before that). After daughter born never again as local Wimpy (Redcar) closed. So being in Kings Lyne took opportunity to relive that time.Not disappointed, waitress service, proper plates, proper glasses and good coffee.Wife, of course, had Cheeseburger, I had Quarter pounder with cheese and bacon. Much better than McD, loads of chips, nice buns, tasty burger and a proper bottle of Ketchup on the table.Had a Rocky Road Sundae, loads of Mr Whippy, Mini Oreos, mini Marshmallows and chocolate sauce... cracking!Very happy after a 30 year hiatus.....

my favourite! they do a lemon quorn burger that tastes so chicken-y that I had to check with the waitress that she hadn't really given me meat by mistake! and the milkshakes are the best ever! so thick and delicious! im afraid I cant rate the dessert as I love it so much I eat it all and cant fit dessert in!

We came here on a Saturday lunch time and it was very busy. One of the girls came over straight away and told us to sit where we liked. She brought menus over straight away and we had 5 or so minutes before she came back to take our order.We both ordered off the specials menu the cheese burger chips and fizzy drink for £6.99 but you could not exchange the fizzy drink for a hot drink so we had to pay the full individual price of each.When the food came after another 10 minutes or so it was piping hot, plenty of chips and the burger was good too.Had we been able to swap the fizzy drink for the hot drink I would have marked this as excellent.

I had the grill which included the famous "bender" sausage. I completely forgot how good this tasted. I also had a "brown derby" which was on offer with a cup of coffee. Even better!! Was a very nice meal and very good, friendly service. Would definitely revisit if ever back in the area.

Often pop in here for lunch when shopping in town.The menu has evolved over the years but they still have a lot of their classic dishes like sausage egg and chips.The service in this branch consistently runs like a well oiled machine. The staff are quick to attend to you and the food is quickly served.Hot tasty and no frills food. My favourite/ usual is a toastie and chips. Rally tasty and brilliant value.Tables are quickly cleared and cleaned. It's usually a busy lunchtime when I go in and I've never seen a dirty table.

Used to love Wimpys in the 1980s/1990s, so nice to have a Wimpy when I spot one!! Don't see them on every High Street like the old days!!

Went to wimpy for first time at the weekend and asked for a burger as there was no other healthy options available and it was like rubber. It was served by a middle aged woman who was puffing a lot and was not very plesant. I was uncomfortable there. The lady continued to pick her nose and subsequently served a customer. Granted the most of the customers were old people I don't think they know what they are been served..but there was a lot of over weight people there also and didn't seem to mind what they were eating... will never go there again

Ah, The Wimpy Bar, brings back the past, it is great to see they still exist and everytime I see one I cannot resist to go in. I had the classic Bender in a Bun and it was delicious, great service as well, good work girls!!!

I visit this store two or three times a year and have never been disappointed. The prices are fair as meals are freshly prepared to order. If you're looking for a special they always have deals on offer. The staff treat you like a human being and very helpful with the directions. It has become a destination for me and I do not agree with tge negative comments from one or two previous visitors. Give them a try

Im not sure how someone can justify saying its a ''greasy spoon'' cafe, i can only assume they have not looked at a Wimpy menu since 1981. The menu is outside to look at before you go in, so you know what to expect. I have been going in Wimpy's in Lynn for pretty much most of my life, food is cooked to order so its hot and perfect, the special sauce is one o the best sauces in the world and i so wish they would sell it in bottles, I can happily say they have the ''' greatest burgers under the bun ''!

i ordered 2 breakfasts at the price of £2.99 2 capri suns for my 2 young children a coke and a portion of chips. i changed the toms to beans and they charged me £1.10 each, £1.60 each for a caprisun carton that u can get 4 for £1. I was absolutely gobsmacked when the woman told me how much it was dont make the same mistake i did.............MAY 23RD about 10am

This Wimpy is like Wimpy has always been. It's a greasy spoon with everything that goes with that nomenclature. There are, within easy walking distance, many many more better places to go. Do yourself a favour and go there.

Used to go to the old Wimpy near sainsburys so nipped in here for a touch of nostalgia. The staff were very young and moody - not friendly at all. But the food was ok.

Was very pleasantly surprised to see a Wimpey Bar as thought all had gone. More expensive than McD or Burger King. Staff very pleasant but food did not taste that good. Maybe it wasn't as I had thought it would be from past memories.

Ett trevligare snabbmatsställe för lunch än t ex Mc Donalds. Lite roligt att gå dit också eftersom det inte finns så många Wimpys. Möjligen kostar det något mera än på t ex Mc Donalds men det är det värt. Det känns även lugnare här. Beställningen togs upp vid bordet och det var också till servitrisen man betalade när man ätit klart.
