Wimpy in Eastbourne

Wanting a quick bite while in Eastbourne (and slightly disappointed that Birdhaus appears to be closed), we thought we'd give Wimpy a go, for old time's sake and to see if anything had changed in the decades since I last set foot in one. The venue has less seating than the neighbouring golden arches so we had to wait 5 mins to get a table but we weren't in a hurry. The place is clean and the service was good. The decor feels modern but the menu still has a range of classic options, such as the Bendy (hot dog in a round bun) and the Wimpy burger. I opted for the Southern Fried Quorn burger with vegan mayo, which as a meal comes with a drink (Pepsi Max for me!) and chips. We also tried the onion rings and it was all quite tasty. On Wednesdays you can get a small selection of meals for £8.50 but the vegan choice there is the bean burger and having spent too many years with just that as an option, I was happy to pay a few pounds more to try something else. Besides, a little over £10 for a meal isn't too bad nowadays and it was served quickly too. In all, not a bad experience and I would certainly be tempted to come back.

Amazing service. My family love it here as the waitors never fail to be kind and easy to communicate with. The burgers are always delicious aswell as their desserts. Always recommending wimpy to my friends!

Fantastic staff! Wait on food was reasonable as the restaurant was full on arrival. We had to queue for a table which was understandable as it was December!

Excellent food, especially with the cheeseburger deal that was on at the time, also staff were so polite and nice. Would definitely recommend to others!

What has happened???? Greasy burgers unchanged oil. Old salad with grease on Greasy chips and overcooked benders and hard boiled fried eggs. Awful. 1 out of 10

I love the Wimpy so much, i’ve introduced all my friends to it as well and they agree that it’s great. the food always taste amazing (especially the chips), good price and really friendly staff. I recommend for anybody who likes breakfast, burgers and icecream

Arrived early so no problem being greeted - delivery of meal was very slow bearing in mind that place was very quiet. ~When breakfast was delivered one of the eggs was splattered over the plate. When another was asked for the server grunted and said couldn't see what was wrong with it. In view of this gave feedback to Wimpy Customer Service as if they don't know about issues they can't fix them. Amazed that area manager has banned us for complaining. Previous issues were mould on bread and one morning someone forgot to turn water heater on so water in teapot was cold. Moral of story is that if you visit don't complain

I’ve been earing in Wimpy since I was a child and loved their burgers, relish and chips. 45 years on and the service, the food and the tastes are just the same … fantastic. Happy memories revisited.

We have been visiting this establishment for a good few years every weekend for breakfast and on this occasion we had a egg that was looking like a omelette on the plate and asked the very young l server if he would change it so I had some yolk as normal and he was very abruabout changing it and the result of the issue is that we have now been banned from the wimpy due to making a complaint so be careful if something is not as you like it DONT szz as y anything or you will be banned also.

While popping into Eastbourne to see an old friend, I decided to pop into Wimpy. I ordered just a wimpy hamburger and chips with a milkshake. The food was delicious well presented and fresh and the staff were very friendly. Will be popping in again and thank you to the lovely staff who served me.

The manager was bossy standing over me saying i shd order a vegan meal as the staff didnt seem to understand what I wanted also on a previous occasion trying to get me to sit near the loos i moved and he didnt like it i didnt like the idea of eating in a lavatory as it were ! I wd not recommend this wimpy the surroundings seemed drab as well depressing the young girl who was on seemed very nice felt a bit sorry for her working there

The food is great and the staff are extremely friendly. Food comes out quick and is always hot. Highly recommended will be back

The breakfast is what keeps me coming back! The staff were very friendly and attentive, the restaurant had a nice feeling to it. I was also pleasantly surprised by how clean everything was. Maybe a 10 minute wait overall but I'll happily wait when the food is that tasty.

Terrible food served cold with unappetising presentation. Dissatisfaction not taken seriously by management. The brand name no longer lives up to the Wimpy of old, which were great restaurants offering good value food.
