So on arrival I ordered our drinks at the bar where a polite young man served me and said if you would like to find a table I can bring them over, on which another person promptly placed the menus down. We all chose to have the fish goujons where the waitress advised us they were in breadcrumbs which was good, and we ordered some chips to accompany. Our sandwiches were served along with the chips. I must say that the fish goujons were extremely over cooked, making them hard, you didn’t get much fish in there, although a very strong smell of fish! So being extremely hungry we ate what we could as couldn’t be bothered in complaining! Doubt be going back anytime soon, not for food anyway.

My friend and I had pate for starters, it was very nice with toasted bread, pickle and salad, I had a Marinara (seafod) pizza which was tasty, my friend had chicken and leek pie which she said was OK, the chips were very nice and the meal was hot as was mine. We had no complaints at all about the food or service, we had a nice evening and would go again.

Oh dear. Surf & Turf delivered to table as steak & chips, with a side order of chips . Veg missing & prawns missing. When I asked the waiter where is the surf, he had absolutely no idea what I was talking about.meal was taken away to resolve the issue. Meal then came back, still missing veg, waiter tried to take back meal to kitchen again. However we assured him it'll be ok. It wasn't. Steak was tuff, prawns chewie. Do you know what ! Getting tiered of places like this charging decent money for poor service & poor food. Place was quite so staff were not too busy or overrun, yet could not manage between chef & waiter to give us what we asked for. Nah won't be getting my money again.

Disastrous lunch! Only two tables occupied when we arrived- only one more whilst we were there……..and no wondering why!! From asking for a gin and tonic(gin was a red fruity one when I’d asked for a Beefeater/Hendricks, neither of which they had!!)- settled for Gordon’s which had no taste, even though it was a double, not sure it wasn’t watered down. Table was very sticky- like it hadn’t been cleaned. Ordered one pate starter- garnished with the most dry and wilted salad and stale toasted bread. As I said to my husband, it didn’t bode well for the main courses. My steak came with the sauce separately, as requested. Thank goodness it was not poured over the meat, it was supposed to be a pink peppercorn and chilli spicey sauce- it just seemed like someone had just put a few peppercorns in a bowl of gravy!! No spicey flavour and the gravy had a peculiar taste! The steak was dry and like shoe leather. This steak was also garnished with the horrible, dry and wilted salad, with some overboiled carrots and peas. If you wanted any chips it was another £3.95!!! Husband had fish and chips, fish was very wet and watery. It came with mushy peas- these were quite good. When we spoke to the young waiter who was very pleasant, about the the sauce for the steak and generally about the meal he was very apologetic and said he would take if the price of the sauce off the bill! Still a very overpriced meal at £70- if I’d seen the recent reviews we would never have gone there. Give it a very wide berth- you have been warned!!!

Lunch today was a disaster. Bury black pudding supermarket bought, with a rock hard piece of bacon, and peppercorn sauce covering a mushy, limp salad. Wife’s garlic mushrooms were bland. The mains…wife’s calzone turned up and when cut open, oozed grease and liquid. My filet steak kebab arrived and I could’ve cried. Never was filet steak, but worst was it’s coating which I can’t describe…grease and something else unknown. Being us, we paid and left without complaining as to avoid conflict. We used to live nearby and this place was once exceptional, alas no more. What I cannot understand is why/how it’s still open with a zero score for its food hygiene rating. Should it even be open and trading?

Booked for Mothers Day, We were sat upstairs near the bar, Our waitress was very attentive, but run of her feet, food good . However the restaurant was definitely overbooked and some tables were waiting a long time for food I felt sorry for the waitresses as they bore the brunt of the complaints from the customers, manager seemed very inexperienced and it really could do with someone more experienced .

We went in a party of 10 for Mother’s Day we will not be going back and will be telling everyone I know not to bother! It took ages for them to take our drinks order and at least 30 minutes before they took our food order starter and main. It took quite a while before they came back to clear up from the starter then didn’t reset the table when they brought the main corse we had to ask twice for more cutlarey again once we had finished took ages to come and clean up and to take an order for dessert then 15 minutes later someone came over and told us we couldn’t have dessert and we would have to leave as we had gone over the two hour tab rule that we knew nothing about. We have been to many restaurants over the years and I have never been asked to leave before must be making too much money if they can ask paying customers to leave before they have finished and loose out on 8 deserts and several coffees. Absolutely outrageous and it wasn’t like the place was busy and had another 10 people waiting to be seated. NOT HAPPY.

The reason for giving 1 is because,we had booked this restaurant well in advance and when we got there we were shown to our table, baring in mind it wasn’t that busy, however we had to wait before someone came to get the order for drinks and that took them nearly half an hour before we got the drinks, then we had to wait for a while before someone took the order for the meal. it took ages before we got our starters which was basically olives whether they went to put the olives from the olive tree or probably went to the supermarket to get them. Again, it took ages to get a main meal. Ordered some chicken dish which was supposed to come with some veg and my wife had ordered a cheese and onion pie with some chunky chips. Hence the wife cheese and onion pie was called in the middle so we had to send it back and then I had to wait a good 15 minutes to get my vegetables for my dish only to be served with roast potatoes which were totally raw and cold. I did complain to some unexperienced so-called manager. All he said was that he was sorry and on top of that he said he won’t charge us for the meal which was totally rubbish, but had an audacity to charge us for the two drinks. We had. Therefore we won’t be going to Wilton Arms anymore. I have personally told a few of my friends not to bother going to WILTON ARMS

Large pub with dining areas, very little atmosphere. On arrival there was a long queue for drinks. Some large parties in and the bar staff were very inexperienced. It took some time to be seated and served. Putting aside the staff. who may improve in time, the food was actually well presented and tasty. Average pub prices. So a mixed experience.

Really wanted this place to be good under new management as it has been going downhill for years, unfortunately it was really poor. The place was nearly empty when we arrived, possibly due to the fact that for some unfathomable reason they state they are in ‘the heart of Belmont’ when in fact they are about three miles away so people may have got lost ….. I do live in the heart of Belmont and I wouldn’t be walking home from The Wilton! There was one young man serving and to be fair he was doing his best but the quality of the food was awful. We won’t be going back in a hurry

Visited for a Friday night couples dinner out. Have been previously and the food was terrible, but had heard the place was under new management so we thought we would give it a try Service was incredibly slow and when we happened to mention that we had waited a considerable time for our drinks we were told that they were “busy” Food was terrible. Haloumi fries were actually cheese on toast .. chicken was raw in the middle , pizza tasteless ..wines are extremely poor (£3.99a bottle type ) but charged at extortionate prices. There was a large party in drinking whose kids were running the length of the bar/restaurant all evening .. not what you need after a long week at work. Glasses, plates etc all remained uncleared (can’t say empty as most food plates were at least half full when they had been abandoned) and did notice a customer clearing up (maybe an off duty staff member??) All in all a very expensive mistake never to be repeated. It’s such a shame as this place really could be fantastic , but needs a lot of work, new menu and probably new staff.

Went here for the first time in ages, for tea with my wife and Granddaughter. Now under new management, we were expecting great changes. The only thing that has changed is that it's absolutely gone down the pan! Atmosphere gone, service terrible and food very disappointing. How many pub restaurants don't have any peas, except mushy? They still charge premium prices, for less than ordinary food. Not a great recipe for customer satisfaction and the future of The Wilton Arms. We certainly won't be dining here again! Shame really!!

Christmas Day lunch. My previous Christmas Day experiences not great but this was a very pleasant surprise. We were a party of seven including 3 children. We ordered a variety of food and we weren’t disappointed. The starters weren’t to the liking of the two younger children but they were happy with the garlic bread offered. Also, the children’s portions were huge. Far too big. However, the food was hot and the staff couldn’t do enough for us. Very happy 😃

Worst Sunday lunch I’ve ever had. Asked for lamb, got beef. And the cheapest nastiest beef I’ve ever eaten. Frozen veg (still frozen) frozen Yorkshire pudding (still soggy) bistro gravy and barely cooked roast potatoes.Utterly dreadful food. At table check (right as I was finishing) waitress was clearly uninterested in rectifying it. No apology. Charged us full price so we paid and left. Never to return. Their loss - we are locals who eat out Sunday lunch every week taking family with us every month. I’d be embarrassed to show that lunch to anyone.

Lovely venue inside, however the food and service is a little to be desired. The staff looked like rabbits in the headlights with not a clue between them. We had to ask for cutlery, chase drinks, chase napkins and condiments we’d asked for. The food was bland at best. Prawns that were tasteless led to us questioning why we’d spent nearly £32 on a prawn jacket potato and a fish finger wrap with two cordials and soda water. Shame really because the interior decor is extremely welcoming. Just not matched by the service and quality of food. Must do better.

We visited as a family on Sunday and I was absolutely blown away by the quality of the food and service. Really friendly staff and the best pub Sunday dinner in a long time. Well worth a visit. Special mention to the Pork Shank.

Not recommend food overly salty to the extent of inedible . Mashed potato had a piece of plastic in choking hazard. Would NOT recommend at all

Disgusting - if you want to eat something that tastes like cheap frozen food warmed up this is the place for you. Chips were disgusting, absolute rancid. Must still be using the same oil from pre Covid. Feel sick and like I've been pick pocketed.

First time at this restaurant since it moved. Very impressed with food and service. Menu has good choices. All food arrived hot and was of good quality. The portion sizes were also good value for money. Based on our experience would certainly recomend.

I'm so glad that Sara G had a good experience, when the delivery messed up her order. I however had completely the opposite customer service! I rang this restaurant after Just Eat said they had delivered, but we never received our food. The arrogant person identifying himself as Akil, the manager, told us that it wasn't their problem, after keeping me on the phone for over five minutes, chasing up our order, and to get in touch with Just Eat. No apology, nothing. The fish and chips are nice from here, but there are other chippies in Bolton, you know!? Disgraceful
