Wilton Arms Hotel in Rochdale

Great new menu excellent sea food.Varied clientele very welcoming. Good staff some new some from when it was a sizzling brand pub.looking forward to trying more of the menu.Nice choice of single malts for the whiskey afficionado.

I don't normally write negative comments about pubs and restaurants that I visit. I prefer to be constructive. So yesterday, the 15th of April 2025, we visited Mangiamo @the Wilton in Rhodes, Middleton. Now, this pub-restaurant has been in decline since around 2019 during the ' Covid ' period and the divisive issues caused by the hotel and the response by the previous management to those issues. So back to the present. Many believed Mangiamo @the Wilton was going to be a new beginning. After visiting yesterday, it's gone backwards, and it looks like it's in terminal decline. There were only two tables being used when we were there, and they managed to bring the wrong orders and forgot to provide parmasan cheese for an Italian meal. The food was mediocre and not inexpensive. Also, there is no children's menu or meal deal offers anymore, which means we'll go elsewhere with our grandchildren, and having no offers is a turn-off for older generation customers who used this pub regularly. Regarding the all-around pub experience. When we arrived, there were overflowing rubbish bins outside near the restaurant entrance rather than inside the segregated area for rubbish. They've decided to remove the outside seating area, which was a big attraction in the summer when we get the occasional nice day. Last two weeks, we've had great weather , and nobody could enjoy Al fresco drinking because there is nowhere to sit and enjoy it. They've done nothing to improve the tired worn-out decor of the pub, which adds to the dismal expirence. I want to finish of with some positive comments. When we arrived, the barmaid called Michelle was very friendly and helpful. She was replaced behind the bar with a barmaid called Sonia? ( I think ) who was also very pleasant and friendly. So all in all, it was a negative experience when this pub restaurant has the potential to be booming and packed out if those running it put some imagination and effort into it.

I ordered a lemonade and got soda water, then while waiting 40 minutes for the meal for my family I found out the bar women had failed to place the order, then when the food arrived it was disgusting. The side of steamed veg was either raw or weeks old, the cunky chips would fail to make it to farmfoods value section with peas that were vary old and a pie that made me feel ill afterwards. I'm writing this to save wallets and time of any humans from making the mistake I made.

Not been here in years New Management New Menu Chicken wings are ace so are the meatballs It’s like an Italian/Tapas cross with proper pub food Perfect family tea!!! Definitely coming back!

"I’ve been visiting this place for many years, always enjoying the food and atmosphere. During my recent visit, I used their car park, where they say the first three hours are free. I’m confident I didn’t exceed the three-hour limit, yet I received a parking ticket for my trouble. Very disappointing experience as a long-time customer."

We had a booking for 6pm. I don't eat meat or fish so asked what was on the vegetarian menu. Was told vegetarian lasagna. After a almost hour wait I was told no lasagna but I could have vegetarian sausages in a tortilla wrap what?. It wasn't even on the menu. I had a bowl of soup for a meal. Absolutely pathetic food and service.

It was freezing cold and no radiators were on meaning we had to wear our coats to eat our food, as well as the pub smelling quite musty. The food we ordered was pale and tasteless and we ended up leaving half of it to go home early. 2 kids were playing loudly running round the entire pub whilst we were trying to eat too and no one seemed to care. Other than this, the staff seemed friendly. I hate to give a negative review but I’m just being honest of my experience.

Food OK, much improved from a couple of years ago but… new parking arrangements! Didn’t see any warning signs as the nights are dark in early March. £100 fine for parking outside the restaurant I was using? Ridiculous! Won’t be going again - better places to eat without the hassle, just a massive turn off to customers who drive over for a meal.

We had a lovely meal here this week. My son and I came in for lunch during half-term, and our food was absolutely beautiful. Genuinely the best meal I’ve had here before, it was cooked very nicely. I had a bbq chicken wrap with chips, with a side of garlic bread, and my son had a kid’s meal of pasta followed by an ice lolly. The waffle dessert was incredible! The food has always been nice when I’ve visited but it was particularly nice on this occasion, so compliments to the chef! The value for money cannot be argued with.

We go regularly as the food is always amazing and staff extremely helpful. Bar staff are always amazing and very efficient. Atmosphere is great aswell.

Just been in for brekkie....... lovely freshly cooked and filled me right up, cheap as chips as well, family of four fed and watered for £20.... bargain , I would highly recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
