Had the most lovely experience yesterday took my 89 year old uncle in for his birthday lunch. The moment we entered we were made to feel welcome. The carvery was beautiful the fish chips was stunning. A sneaked a cake with candles in to a lady Cheryl who when we were finished brought it out singing the other diner's also joined in was 10-10 loved it will 100% be back highly recommend this place.

Nice friendly staff and always clean and tidy but I’ve scored a little lower than I normally would as they have taken off the £1.99 tea/coffee and toast offer off which is a bit disappointing as we come in regularly after our morning runs

It’s always an 10 out of 10 from us as the carvery is top notch, also the place feels like home with the atmosphere too. We were served by Cheryl also treats customers and us so great that we can’t wait to be back at the Willow Farm restaurant with her happy, bubbly and cheerful attitude. Thank you Cheryl!

Went here for an early family dinner with grandkids. They have a soft-play area which gets quite busy and quite boisterous! I already had the Greene King App so ordered everything off there from quite a complicated menu trying to get the offers in and the food preferences. TOP TIP order at the bar if this is an issue with food/drinks. I had the lamb curry, little too salty and messy. We had the chicken curry and the same. The best option next time is to go for the carver which looked more inviting.

Thought we would give this place a second chance after having an appalling visit a year or so ago. Wish we hadn't! Had a lovely family afternoon bowling and my youngest son chose to come back here. After driving 10 miles to have some food, we walked into the restaurant to be greeted by a member of staff running up to us asking if we had booked a table. Bearing in mind the resturaunt was half empty!! We hadn't booked! For her to abruptly tell us they are only taking bookings and that is fair enough, had the resturaunt been full. But it wasn't. It was very embarrassing in front of other customers. She didnt even have the decency to try and accommodate us or ask us if we would like a drink at the bar until a table became available. Instead we were ushered out with red faces. I will never ever step foot in this place again. Absolutely appalling customer service from what looked like a manager. You have lost us as customers for the second time and we wont be returning in the future. I suggest you give the front of house lady, who is supposed to greet their customers with a warm welcome some valuable training. I would give this a zero rating if it was possible.

I come here all of the time for a cooked breakfast and its always really nice. The staff are all friendly and polite and I like the fact its huge and clean. The food is on the whole very tasty and plentiful for a buffet option. However I have noticed that since the last time I was here just after lockdown ended the prices seem to have crept up for some reason. I paid on this visit £5.79 for a standard weekday breakfast with bottomless tea/coffee and toast plus £3 for a pint of fresh orange and lemonade. Previously the same breakfast cost roughly less than £4, drink was probably the same. I have said it before don't go later on for breakfast as the food tends to be warm as opposed to hot unless certain items have just been brought out like the hash browns which I had to chase up at the buffet bar! The tea is usually the same hence the pint of orange and lemonade. Overall its a great place to come for breakfast and I will continue to visit even if the prices have gone up...just don't put them anymore please!!

We visited on a Thursday on arrival we said table for 2 adults and 2 children and the woman said any table except a reserved table ,so we sat in a booth ,we started ordering food on the app and then another staff member come over and said we can't sit there as its for over 12 children only so we walked round towards play area a whole section was sealed off and the only empty tables were filthy and not cleaned so we walked out again, we've been to many different farm house pubs and they've been great we've sat in booths before and never once been told we can't sit there because our children aren't over 12 which they are 10 and 4 ,this is my 3rd walkout from willow farm because of bad customer service ,had to walkout with upset children which is unacceptable thought I'd give it a last chance but will never visit willow farm again.

Visited for a family meal. We had a good table and the place looked very clean. There was a small soft play area for little ones. Just as we arrived the carvery was closed due to staff issues (Covid) so understand this can’t be helped. Ordering on the app showed lots of meals not available however when checking at the toll they were available. The staff serving were very nice and good with the children which is always nice. I must however say two members of our party commented that the barmaid was very rude. But all in all it was a nice place to eat and would return

Was extremely happy with mine and my wife's Breakfast. It was well prepared and hot. A good selection yo choose from at the hot plate. However for my grandaughter it was completely different. First there were no Pancakes, was informed their order hadn't arrived. So she choose Waffles. These turned out not to be freshly made. But brought in. Surely it eould be far cheaper to produce these items from fresh. Not brought in and warmed. The pancakes could not be cut with a knife they were that hard. Extremely disappointed.

Was passing here and decided to take my husband and 2 grandkids for lunch. Its nice and spacious plenty of room to sit with family. 2 of us had the carvery which was hot and plenty of a variety, the only issue i had was we had to wait 10mins waiting for staff to come and put a Yorkshire and meat on a plate. There was plenty staff on serving but the poor lass on the carvery was on her own rushing about and always apologising. My husband had steak & Ale pie which was filling and nice. I have used this Pub for a very long time and have never had a bad meal there, until last Saturday. My family and I were kept waiting for over 15 mins to be escorted to our table. The table was pre booked earlier in the week, We sat, ordered and awaited our goodies. The wine was served in a glass that can be described as been taken of a table outside and not washed. It was disgraceful. They changed that, then the food arrived. I had the Hunters Chicken with veg, the chicken was undercooked, the BBQ sauce was just a clump of gloop. My Mam had Fish & Chips. This was so overcooked that the batter could have been used as a missile and done some damage to anyone or anything in it's way. My other family member had The Chicken Tikka Masala. The chips were tasteless and the Nann bread was as hard as a frisbee. I can only surmise that they have changed Management or the Chef, maybe both. I will not be going there again and this perturbs me as it used to be my favourite restaurant.. What has gone wrong????

Ate here on holiday in the N.E. with family. Probably the higher end of the Greene King spectrum pubs range. Used APP to order (works very well BTW) but drinks took 15mins to arrive, the starters 5 mins after that. The presentation of the 4 different Mains once they actually arrived was very variable. The Smothered Chicken had clearly been held under lights waiting for the other Mains and had crispy, dried ends, the gammon & eggs was fine, the gravy for the steak & ale pie was congealed (under lights again?) and was sent back for replacement which was fine. But the All Day Breakfast looked like it had been thrown onto the plate - ZERO presentation points. Our Guests, who had recommended this place looked suitably embarrassed so we didn't make a fuss - just ate.

Awful pub. Rude staff. The man on the desk was awful. I went in with my daughter in law, while the hubby's parked up. He asked us to check in with trake and trace. We said we don't have it. We asked if he could just write our names on paper, like other pubs do. He said no due to data protection. A new one on me. He also said it is illegal not to have the app. Which is a blatent lie. I said it was not. He asked rudely if I had a smart phone. I said yes but I'm still not downloading the app. His attidued immediately changed when our partners came in. Seems he likes to think he can intimidate women. He picked on the wrong ones that day. Anyway he said he would put my details on the computer. After all that fuss. The staff who served us looked like they wanted to be anywhere else, the place has no friendly atmosphere, like other pubs. The food was bland and definitely not worth what we paid. Overall a very bad first time experience at this pub, and the last. Note to staff. Please no not try to reply with nonsense to justify this behaviour. Eg. Covid guidelines. Covid guidelines does not make you a rude person who likes to argue with women!

We were given all the information regarding covid protocol, we ordered via the app and although on one occasion it was extremely busy the staff were very attentive and we didn’t wait long at all. I have noticed a review regarding the staff not wearing face coverings, I did not notice this myself but I would presume that those particular members of staff are exempt? Which we can not discriminate against! Overall I do not have a bad word to say and under the current government guidelines I think every member of staff did a cracking job, I certainly feel safer in the pub than in a supermarket! Well done willow farm!

I have been to Willow Farm many times in the past. It is a basic standard eatery with (usually) a decent carvery. However on my visit today with the hope of decent Covid-19 precautions the alarm-bells should have started ringing from the start. True I could, and did, book online, but with no option as to where in the building (as all other places I have visited in this way).I signed in with my Track-and-Trace app and without being given any option taken to our table (by a lady wearing the correct gear). It should have occurred to me then that several staff and customers were wandering around without masks. However after what seemed like an unnecessarily long wait in a very quiet place a waiter (with mask) arrived to take the order. It was simple: two carvery meals, a wine and a real ale. The waiter appeared not to know what beers were available, but we agreed that they might Green King IPA. I was then asked how I wished to pay. I though that odd as I have never been asked to pay before eating except in a late night Chinese restaurant full of drunks liable to abscond before paying. However I paid and was told that we would have to wait for our carvery 'tickets' until the drinks arrived (Another ten minutes)Sitting where we were in view of the carvery, it became obvious that many/most people having a carvery meal were not wearing masks and were not corrected, but worse still. some of the carvery servers were not themselves wearing masks. Looking around even the manager(?) was not wearing a mask.Having had to pay in advance, I was now trapped into having a meal or leaving at a loss. My Scottish ancestry prevailed and I decide to bite the bullet and order. I had a medium and my wife had a small, carveries. My choice usually is beef and pork, but of course today there was no pork. Vegetables were served by staff (one with a mask and one without). To be honest I'm not big on vegetables and if self serving I have one roastie. a bit of this and a bit of that. However the servers must feel that lots of everything is good so I ended up with a navvy's plateful drowning in gravy and with a pool of English mustard. (see photo).Keeping a carvery 'just so' must be a problem and as often happens, the carrots were soggy while the broccoli and cauliflower, not completely cooked. The mash and roasties were just right. (Tell Goldilocks). My wife, who had managed to curb the zeal of the servers finished her meal while I gave up having eaten the meat and the potatoes. We did not stay for desert or coffee as the afternoon was already wasted. For that we went elsewhere.I know it was cheap, but it really was not cheerful.Sorry Willow Farm, but if I ever come back it will be after you return to normal.

I love the décor and overall feel of the place. It’s like a Wetherspoon pub in its appeal; plenty to see on the cake and carvery counter to wet your appetite. And most certainly plenty of drinks to choose from. The tables are grouped in clusters – and whilst there are no obvious partitions – there is a sense of privacy. The wine-red signage carries on the colour scheme into the interior, whilst the wooden tables are a reminder that this is a pub-come-restaurant. There are tables outside, which are perfect in the summer. Overall a great looking restaurant. A nice family-friendly buzz was on when we visited. And a huge plus in my eyes, the staff insisted that we wear mask when moving from our group; so there was a semblance of the regulatory compliance being met.The negative side about my experience. (This again may be reflective of the shortage in staff due to COVID) Previous Carveries I’ve attended – limited your portion of meats whilst giving you unlimited amounts of vegetables. In this instance – they limit both meat and vegetables. You basically get three sizes of plates – small, standard and large; and that gets filled once. That’s not the sort of Carvery I like. Also – there was no Broccoli on offer on the Carvery counter; so the only bright green veg I had were Brussels sprouts. I did enjoy the beef as it was very moist and delicious – but the pork did not have a decent layer of crispy crackling; it was soft and rubbery looking. A Carvery without proper pork cracking – is a fail. I can only speak for myself in my review – but none but one in my group talked about how delicious their meal was. I certainly did not see the point in taking a picture of my “Carvery” plate. It looked like a fairly ordinary dinner plate. And they insisted that we had to pay either in cash or card – not both. That to me indicates they were trying to simplify to avoid mix-ups in payment. Also – the bill is for the whole booked table groups – not individuals. So if you go with a large group – make sure everyone brings enough cash. Else someone will pay with card – and you’ll need to give him your cash. I prefer individualized bills when in groups. This is a great place; may be back to perfection once the economy fully fires back to “normal.” I can certainly recommend – but on this occasion – they did not shine.

We were advised to pay and order via app and because it's our first time after the lockdown; I was not sure how it works after I paid so I went to the bar with my face mask on and spoke to the cashier. As she was explaining the process; this rude guy on the bar told me to step away from the bar (very rude and condescending tone) as he said no one is allowed to stay around the bar. How would I know you are not allowed to speak to a cashier? Besides, the cashier has face shield and mask and the bar has a plastic divider. The guy was not even in uniform so I'm not sure if he's the owner or what, but the more he should be polite with the customers. I will never come back to that restaurant again.

Had an excellent meal here with my family last week, we were greeted by Keith who explained the COVID rules and showed us to our table. Our server Sam was very attentive and brought us everything we needed with no problems, I had the carvery which was served by Jack, I thoroughly enjoyed it! Well done to the full team!

I can’t thank Andrea and the team enough for their fantastic service yesterday!! Andrea supported me in arranging a small Covid-safe birthday party to celebrate my daughter’s first birthday. The staff were ever so friendly and attentive and while we were expecting to be governed by distance and rules, they created a layout and a toddler-friendly space that helped each ‘bubble’ distance but still be able to interact and we all had a fantastic time. While it’s been a difficult time for the hospitality industry, the team at Willow Farm are maintaining rules and processes and still succeeding in creating a lovely environment for customers. Food and drinks were great too. 10/10 guys, thank you!!

We went to Willow Farm as a last minute booking. Very spacious inside, cleaning stations, no social distancing issues, and tables cleaned immediately. Huge menu and drinks choice and excellent prices. Food arrived quickly, piping hot, huge portions and absolutely amazing. Friendly attentive staff. Only criticism! Should be in Essex, it’s too far away.

“Have you booked?” A delightful greeting from the man we shall call Pink Shirt. Well no, your app is defective. The three cars in the car park and a pub as bereft of life as a monty python parrot indicated it was potentially not necessary. Perhaps at this point we should have taken a hint, turned tail and beat a hasty retreat to a superior establishment, perhaps the bins around the back. “Order by the app, you can’t go to the bar, it’s the law now,” proclaimed pink shirt. Stern, indeed; humourless, alas a natural. Track and trace circuitously completed and table directions delivered a form of no discernible logic appeared. You tick what you don’t want. Ah so your deficient app must be the same. Order the whole menu at your convenience, please remember to allow the kitchen to determine the one missing item and by some quirk of chance you will get a meal. By some act, I suspect a mistake the correct food arrived. I say food, in doing so I swerve the facts. The waiter was also at a loss, although I suspect him new. Newness aside I suspect he should be able to identify beef. Perhaps not from his startled reply; “oh is that beef?” No, my poor child, it appears to be charcoal, or perhaps the cow skin, ah hello, a sole for my shoe. A sole for my shoe I shall walk anewNever mind well done I wanted it blue. I digress. My poor wife she didn’t eat. But worry not I had clothes for my feet. Again I digress. Summary. Poor food, previously mentioned monty python parrot atmosphere (bereft for those who forgot) and pink shirt a natural at poor humour. However if yellow shirt is reading you were as bright as your shirt. At least one of those two stars is yours. I can also recommend cramlington cobbler in manor walks to attach the plated leather to your shoe.

We've been to willow farm many times but never for breakfast, so we thought we'd pop in on the last morning before the bairn returned to school and the usual early morning routines resumed. The buffet breakfast was fantastic, really nice and reasonably priced. Everything was very well organised with regards to the pandemic too.The staff were lovely, very friendly and helpful. Louise, who greeted us, sat us down and fetched our drinks, was especially nice. Extremely friendly and attentive, a real credit to the place.

Tried a couple of places before hand but they were full but managed to get a table here at Willow Farm. I’ve eaten here and quizzed a number of times previously and it’s always been perfectly good. Willow Farm seems to be absolutely smashing the Covid-19 safety precautions. All staff wearing visors, procedures in place for ordering food/drinks, all delivered to the table. One way systems, toilets single user use and the place was spotless. Tables were very well spaced and it just felt the place genuinely cared for its customers. I used the app to order food and drink which was super easy and quick. The food was very good and very reasonably priced. Staff very professional and efficient. Will likely try here first next time.

Our first time out since befor lockdown, we were unsure what to expect after reading some of the horror stories in the press. We were greeted by freindly staff at the door and shown to our table and the rules regarding social distencing etc were explained by a very polite member of staff. The food was excellent and again served by freindly helpful staff.

We have gone to the Willow Farm for a Sunday Carvery for years. Only missed when on holiday. They have done everything to keep it safe since the pandemic. Yesterday was the third visit since it reopened. Last Sunday we paid for meal and drinks at the bar. When they brought the drinks we were told to wait till we were called to go up for our Carvery. Waited 45 mins, when I asked if we could go, they said they had forgotten about us. Yesterday when we went up for Carvery the chef gave my husband one slither of Turkey, then one slither of ham., mine was more. We won’t be back, I said to the chef, surely you are going to give my hubby more meat, got one more slither. So thin we could hardly pick it up with a fork, disgusting.

Visited The Willow Farm for lunch with a friend today. I cant praise the staff and the manager on how safe and covid safe they have the pub. Tables all spreed out so good distance apart. Go in the main entrance and exit by the side one. Carvery was done brilliant behind glass so only the staff can touch the food. And still gorgeous. Even at the bar they have signs where to stand so nobody standing together while been served. The staff all wore masks or visors..They served the food on a tray where the kindly ask you to lift the plate so they aren't touching it. I really cant praise this enough. And the food is always amazing. Many other places should take a tip from here.

Excellent! The organisation and efficiency were outstanding. Staff were well trained, clearly knew the new social distancing methods and protocols, polite, friendly, helpful and very respectful of social distancing. The new carvery system made collecting our meal enjoyable and stress free. The carvers serving the food were very generous (gave more than I would have given myself), patient and very friendly.

Visited today ( our 1st visit to " ANY "POST LOCKDOWN Pub/restaurant ) with my grandson and husband and so impressed. Welcome and organisation fab , staff friendly and wearing visors or masks which instilled confidence from the start. We sat outside and our drinks were served to us. We paid by card for ease. Clearly marked routes and labelling of procedures made for a lovely visit. Well done Willow Farm we will return.❤

Just been there today after lock down. The place was freezing because the air conditioning was on which caused the meal to turn cold in seconds, not good. Why do they need the air con on - this is the North East of England not Florida. Turn it off. You are ruining the occasion.

If I fancy a nice hearty breakfast in pleasant surroundings I just come here as it's the best place around. Really good value, no pressure to rush your meal and the unlimited coffee is pretty decent too. Go early though as the food is fresher and not dried out, however it does get refreshed quite often and the eggs are cooked fresh (fried). I will certainly be back as soon as the 'lockdown' restrictions are lifted and this place reopens!......

We Went for tea today arrived about 5pm ordered 2 carveries. Only had choice of 2 meats beef or turkey. No choice of gammon or pork. Vegetables were absolutely shocking, hard dried up potatoes new and roast. Mashed potatoes had obviously stood a long time as a skin had developed on them. Parsnips were dried up. The turnip and carrot mash thing was also dried up. The Yorkshire pudding was incredibly ROCK HARD could not cut it with knife couldn't even pull it apart it must have stood since lunchtime. When asked by staff member if our food was alright we mentioned the above and were offered a free pudding which we refused as we came for a carvery not a pudding. We were then offered another carvery but again refused as 1 plate of dried up veg surely would be the same as another. A different member of staff took our plates away we mentioned again how terrible the meal was her reply was it hasn't been busy today which confirmed to us what we thought was correct THE FOOD HAD OBVIOUSLY STOOD SINCE LUNCH TIME. Absolutely shocking we finished our drinks but no management came over to offer any apology. We left and came home feeling rather disappointed, we looked on trip advisor and the amount of comments regarding same complaints about carvery are shocking we only looked back to January this year. The reply from owner at green king willow farm apologies but still it is the same. We will not be back. Waste of money. !!!!!!!!!!

Took a seat whilst wife went to order. Very long queue with only one staff member serving. Took almost 20 minutes to get a drink and order carvery. We were lucky. Other people in the queue ordering off the menu were being told that there was an hour wait. I was pleased to see that they are now making their own giant yorkshire puddings but disappointed that they were cold and tough as old boots. The stuffing had a thick crust on it and veg seemed to have been out a while and was dry. Although they usually have 4 meats available they only has a small piece of beef and some rather dry turkey. The carvery chef looked rather embarrassed to be serving it. Yet again standards appear to be slipping.
