We love going to Dikes and browsing and purchasing from the supermarket. We also have a meal first and have never been disappointed. This time round however we felt the portion of lasagne we had was not good value for money. Perhaps a review of portion sizes/pricing is required.

DIke & Son to me are one of the best independant supermarkets i've ever been to. The range and quality of their products and the professionalism of their staff is second to none. This extends to William's Cafe as well. Very friendly staff and great food.

Very disappointed, items on menu weren't available (why advertise Cornish pasties when you don't have them available? And won't make available when asked for? A chip van can heat a steak and ale pie in eight minutes, so why is the equivalent not available in an indoor cafe?) and prices were absolutely over the top. £4.45 for a literal handful of alabaster chips. £8 for small wraps (no sides) which we waited 20 mins for. Will not return, the shop is fantastic so it was so upsetting to be let down like that.

We were passing through Stalbridge and called in the Dike and sons supermarket to pick up provisions. We found Williams Cafe within the supermarket. Due to the COVID-19 limitations the cafe was subject to pre booking. We asked for availability and as luck would have it we managed to go straight in. The staff were all brilliant and helpful, the cafe was very well laid out for safe distancing. Staff were cleaning everywhere that the previous customers had been sitting. We felt quite safe as a result. The food was nicely presented and of very good quality for a supermarket cafe. The staff were all very helpful and obliging, a nice little find that is well worth visiting if passing through.

There was some shopping required, so 3 of us called in for a quick lunch. Two of us had the chicken in mustard cream sauce with potatoes & veg - delicious. I could quite happily (but greedily) gone around again. The 3rd member of the party was accommodated with mayo-free food to suit her allergies, which was also delicious and much-appreciated. We're all happy to go back soon.

Set inside Dikes supermarket in Stalbridge williams cafe is well worth a visit, even just for a quick coffe. The staff are attentive, cheerful and helpful. The menu ranges from breakfast to lunch and afternoon tea, all excellently cooked and using local produce. They can also cater for functions which you will need to book. Dikes has excellent parking facilities but be aware that it is a popular local shop and can get busy at peak times. Highly reccomended.

We like to support local business however Dike's cafe is spoilt by the slow inattentive service from the staff. We arrived at 1pm in the middle of lunch rush hour (bad move and lesson learnt) and there was a 25 minute wait for hot food so decided to skip it and just have drinks instead. We ordered a coffee and a hot choc which never materialised. The waitress who had served my husband was no longer behind the counter and had not written down the order so after approx 15 minutes of waiting at our table we gave up. I went up to the till and got our money back. Where drinks are ordered it would work better if the customer waits for the drink to be made before being seated like in the big chain coffee shops (it works well), otherwise like here the orders take too long as drinks and meal orders are mixed together. Additional staff required in the cafe and a higher attention to detail from the staff. employed.

I usually judge breakfasts by the quality of the bacon and theirs is excellent. Staff are friendly and helpful and prices are reasonable

It is always a pleasure to visit the restaurant at Dike&Son in Stalbridge, Dorset. Today it was just a quick "pit-stop" as it were but I have enjoyed catching up with long-term friends there too. The variety of seating areas is excellent... gives the customers a choice and there are various areas within the restaurant having different atmospheres. The historic pictures are such an interesting feature especially for the "senior youngsters". The service is cheerful and the staff are real people who can hold an interesting conversation. Today's pot of tea was just right. A real teapot and friendly service. Really do recommend this restaurant. GlobalNomad

Visiting relatives in the area so called in here for breakfast. Very clean and all of the Staff are very friendly. The breakfast is excellent, locally sourced produce and not a drop of grease on the plate. The daily specials board looked very appetising with various home made dishes to choose from. I would highly recommend Dike & Son.

Been here many times for a coffee or lunch and shopping. All the staff are friendly and so helpful. Maybe some of the stuff is dearer than supermarkets but it's a great local shop with everything you need or could possibly want. The cafe is also a great place to grab a quick bite or cuppa. Eat in or take away, it's lovely to have this in a local village. 10 out of 10 for everything.

Dike and Sons is a great little local supermarket, selling high quality local produce as well as normal every day groceries. Imagine a farm shop with everything you need for your daily shop... Well the little cafe is all that and more. Good, old fashioned square meals, at excellent prices, served by friendly and helpful staff. From the all day breakfast to the daily specials, sandwiches and cakes, everything is well sourced and well cooked. No mass produced rubbish here! The milk shakes are a firm favourite with my girls! If you believe in shopping local and supporting good farming, this is a great place to shop and have a great lunch or snack.

Dike's is our local store and we like to support it both for shopping and for coffee etc. and keep our spending "local". Friendly and helpful staff, good coffee and nice things to eat both sweet and savoury at honest prices. Highly recommended - on a sunny day, nice to sit in the conservatory part of the cafe, good to relax and have a treat.

Sunday roast was good ie.good selection of vegetables (blue cabbage and cauliflower were tasty, vegetables were not overcooked), generous portions of meat (I had beef which was a bit overcooked for me but it’s just me being a bit picky about beef. It was seasoned very well).Really enjoyed sticky toffee pudding. Good value for money - there was 2for1 deal for Sunday roast. Friendly and helpful service. Nice atmosphere and decor. Will definitely come back to check out the rest of the menu.

On our journey home from an overnight-stay in Bournemouth we decided to take a minor roads route back home rather than the direct main road route. This took us through quite a few small towns and villages. Our plan was to find a Farm Shop Café or a village / small town-centre café where we could get lunch: ideally a snack and a hot drink. We were over an hour into our journey when we saw the signs for Marcia’s Farm Shop and turned into what was a heavily pot-holed carpark. We then walked into the signposted barn noting that there was plenty of tables and chairs arranged in neat rows but no-one was sat there. There was another door into ‘The Shack’; inside was actually a full bar; like you would find in a pub. There were a few locals propping-up the bar, chatting and drinking draught beer. This is not what we had expected and we assumed that the ‘Marcia’s Farm Shop’ and ‘The Shack’ were one in the same business. There didn’t appear to be any farm produce on sale: other than, we assumed, the food offered in the menu. It was almost exactly 1pm when we were approached and welcomed by a pleasant lady. We asked about food, and she advised us to select a table and choose from the menu of snacks that were available, and that she would return to take our order. We studied the menu having ordered some tea and my Partner chose a fishfinger baguette, whereas I chose a toasted ham and cheese sourdough sandwich. The plates took a good 20-25 minutes to arrive from ordering, but freshly prepared food does take time. So, we sipped tea and amused ourselves with the help of a large (probably over-fed and under-exercised) old Labrador who constantly wandered and sniffed around the bar and seated areas. The dog then settled at our table once our food order arrived. This was not a serious issue for us (others however may dislike being ‘hounded’ by slobbering dogs while they eat their food). Both plates featured a colourful and tasty fresh dressed salad which was really good. My sandwich was really firm and crunchy with a generous helping of thick-cut ham and plenty of well-melted cheese, and a small portion of red cabbage coleslaw to go with the salad. It was really good and enjoyed. My Partner’s baguette featured homemade cod loin fishfingers and tartare sauce (both inside the baguette). The fish was a bit moist and insubstantial; despite being made from the loin. Cod can be like this and it is why we prefer the meatier haddock. The baguette also accompanied by a few crisps, but they were a really strange flavour for accompanying fish (reminded us of Oxo beef - but very artificial). Our food was on the whole good, generously portioned and very much welcomed, and it was good value.
