Excellent food,really good value for money

The William the Fourth pub is a charming spot for a delicious meal. Our group enjoyed a feast of juicy burgers piled high with toppings, crispy chicken wings bursting with flavor, and chips cooked to perfection. But the food wasn't the only highlight of our visit. The pub itself has a warm and inviting atmosphere, with cozy corners and a welcoming vibe. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our meal. And as a bonus, they even have Blue Moon on tap! It's the perfect place to relax with friends or family over some great food and drinks.

Great traditional pub in the heart of Brighton.

They refused to accept an European ID as proof of age. I was asked for driving license or passport to be able to order a pint. On top of that, the manager was rude and talking to me as if I wasn’t able to understand such a simple policy for her. I never had such a problem in any other pub in Brighton where I’ve been living for nearly 5 years. It’s ridiculous, I was in shocked. There are plenty of pubs in Brighton, I recommend going to any other European friendly one.

Food ✅️ Drinks ✅️ All good. Atmosphere can suffer sometimes and service gets slow but that's the same as every pub in this location. Prices aren't bad for the area though.

Nice cosy pub in Brighton. Average drinks prices but a great atmosphere. Didn’t have to wait too long at the bar and the toilets are well looked after. Only stopped for a pint but the menu looks nice.

Café where you can also sit outside under a heat lamp. The bangers & mash here was great.

This place has scrubbed up rather nicely. A good selection of beers. Some hand pulled beers would be nice. But otherwise a less crowded place to meet in the centre of town. Didn't eat there so no idea on that front.

We came here for dinner with my family. We ordered food and waited for more than an hour for it, even though there weren't many other customers there. And soon after we started eating they told us we had to leave because no under-18s are allowed inside after 7pm and we had our kids with us. If the food arrived in time this wouldn't have been an issue. And they could have at least told us about this when we entered. We just had to pack our food into boxes and leave halfway through the meal. The food was good, but not worth the price or the inconvenience.

We had 4 great roast dinners yesterday. We say the little plates and thought that won't be enough, but we were proved wrong, the food was more than enough and we left feeling full, after enjoying a really good meal.

Disgusting attitude. Came into this pub a year ago with a Mexican family member who wanted to try one of the beers first, as you do, and the member of staff behind the bar took one look at him and told us that they don’t just give our product out like that. Clearly a racial thing and incredibly embarrassing. I’ve never felt this way before and will never ever step foot in this pub again. Nor will I recommend anyone else to, either.

£6.70 for a pint of Guinness. Takes the piss. Wasn't even perfectly poured. Grow up. Overpriced with no atmosphere.

Great atmosphere in a traditional setting

Such a hidden gem! Nipped in here whilst waiting for an appointment for a glass of wine and it’s lovely! Little smoking area out the back which is covered and an absolutely perfect spot to sit with a drink and book. Staff are super friendly and drinks are well priced for the area :) (didn’t order food)

Really enjoyed our little beer stop here whilst we were walking around the Lanes. Prices were reasonable for where it is, the place itself is lovely and airy. Staff were friendly too. I'll definitely be coming back when next in Brighton.

Bar staff are uninterested, would rather talk amongst themselves, and make you feel like an inconvenience. Whilst the Tiny Rebel beer is always good (anywhere you go, thank you Tiny!), a smile wouldnt go amiss with this place!

3.5 star Services is good but was let down a little by quality and preparation of the food on our last visit.

Had lunch and a drink here on the first Bank Holiday Monday. Fairly busy so had to wait for food but it was nice, plentiful and hot. Good selection of beers and spirits and the staff were friendly too.

Called in while visiting on Sunday, nice pub, good vibe and friendly staff. We had 3 x Roast dinners (a beef, a chicken and a nut roast £45 which is an average price for 3 Sunday dinners) Unfortunately, we were all Ill to differing degrees following our visit which is a shame because we all really liked the place. Hopefully just a blip on their part. I did ring and explain, apparently no other reports, we were just unlucky.

Very good reception from the lovely bar staff and very good choice of beer. Blue moon is my current favorite with a slice of orange do I was a happy man. 😇😇

I had a splendid Sunday roast in this pub during a sunny Sunday of February! I liked this pub, very chilled but in a bubbly area of Brighton! The food was delicious and the place had everything you would look for in a pork roast ! I would definitely recommend it :D

We went today to eat Sunday roast and we really enjoyed it. The pork belly was really tender and well cooked. The potatoes were proper made and the vegetables also. The staff very friendly and the atmosphere amazing. I haven’t had such a lovely roast for a long time!

popped into this pub on a day trip down from london. lovely atmosphere and a nice little outside area. was just sipping my pint and the menu caught my eye, lots of menu items with vegan equivalents which i always rate. on this occasion i actually went non-vegan and got the cheese, bacon and gravy fries. three toppings to fries which simply can't be beaten. 10/10. i think about these chips a lot

Lovely pub with a great atmosphere on a Sunday. The venue was full, which is always a good sign & the staff were welcoming and friendly. The only SUPER MINOR thing letting it down were the dry roasties & Yorkshires, but this is dien to personal taste more than anything. Would recommend & visit again

Excellent food and really friendly service. We had a lovely boozy lunch at William the Fourth, the pulled pork burger and chips was really nice, perfectly seasoned, and a decent portion as well. We opted to have the black pepper mayo which was a nice addition to the dish

This pub brands itself as a bar with an ever-changing beer/ale and spirits selection, and welcomes people to come and enjoy them. However, they are the only pub that I have EVER been in, that does not offer tasters on its beer/ales. The prices are higher than most other places in the North Laines, between £6 and £7.50 for a guest IPA, and so if you are spending that kind of money you want to ensure it’s something you are going to enjoy. These tasters don’t need to be massive, just half a shot will do. To make matters worse, a group of 3 homeless and high men were welcomed in by the bouncer and bar staff, allowed to sit at a table without buying any drinks, daring each other to ask other patrons to buy them a drink. This made the entire atmosphere tense and uncomfortable. But that isn’t the worst part. The bar staff then proceeded to offer these guys a free drink of their choice, 2 going for a pint glass of spirit and mixer, the other an IPA. We couldn’t believe our eyes!!! Great location, but other places value their patrons more.

First time visit to this pub. Good and lively atmosphere and worth a visit. Beware the footwell entrance and step up - easy to trip (as I did!) if you're not looking ..... I was concentrating my focus on the bar!! 😂🍺

Great pub, can get quite busy and is worlds away from the pub it was before being modernised. For nostalgia reasons I love it, but it offers the same look, feel and drinks as any other number of other pubs in the area. Worth a visit but if its rammed you could find another one that's similar elsewhere.

Walked in here today no booking and had a brilliant pork belly Sunday roast. Outside table with awning cover which they whipped out when it started to rain. Super friendly staff, offered my dog a bowl of water. Loved it.

Pretty decent city centre pub that gets lively at weekends. Big central island bar with a good number of beers on tap and a small outside area at the back for smokers. Also has tables outside the front on the street but if you're looking for somewhere to soak up the sun on a hot day you're better off heading to the Waggon and Horses nearby
