We booked a table for a mid afternoon Christmas Eve meal. The food was great and our table server was lovely - it was his first day and he did a very good job. The only problem was the horribly rude bar tender. She was too hot (in her jumper) and kept opening the door even though we were right by it, and mentioned that we were getting cold. What a shame that one person can spoil a really good experience. Let’s wish her Merry Christmas all the same!

Popped in to William The fourth with the family and I would come back again. Food and service were amazing. The bar team were great huge props to Sam, Freeya and Caleb. Would recommend x

Friendly staff and Kraken coffee.

Always like to pop in for a pint on trips to Brighton. Well located and great atmosphere. Surrounded by shops and convienent location on corner. Service good with a wide range of alcohol choices. Only comment is a limited range of non alcoholic drinks and no Guinness zero on last visit. Prices have increased along with many bars in recent times and was slightly quieter.

Excellent roast beef, terrific crackling and well looked after by the friendly staff. The friendly atmosphere forced our small party to stay a bit too long! 👌

Never been so embarrassed when asked to leave because my wife was looking down at her phone and accused of being asleep. Genz disrespect to the elder generation. avoid if over 25.

Very good reception from the lovely bar staff and very good choice of beer. Blue moon is my current favorite with a slice of orange do I was a happy man. 😇😇

Kitchen close at 7 o clock even during weekend. What a shame for such a nice pub. Main reason why we have to choose a different pub in the evening.

Bar staff, particularly the manager, were rude and condescending. Focused on making a profit from the tourist trade rather than offering good service, manners and decency to customers. Better and more welcoming pubs nearby.

Really liked this pub, nice chilled atmosphere. I think it could be quite a lively place at the weekends. Food and drink certainly good for a weary shopper visiting the area

Had Sunday roast beef very cheap meat and was cold potato taste od as must of been frozen at some time beef chewy food took so long to come also thay don't even ask how your food was if thay did I would of told them instead of doing a review it's was on 25 August 2024 at around 2 30pm it's definitely not worth paying £17.50 is definitely not worth £17.50 avoid look do research for a good roast I'm well dissispointed. I should of just ask for a refund but was in shock

Unfortunately my Sunday Roast was disappointing. The potatoes were overcooked & the yorkie was too eggy. I also added cauliflower cheese & it was inedible. My husband said his fish & chips were not good either.

Can't say about food as we didn't eat there.

The William the Fourth pub is a charming spot for a delicious meal. Our group enjoyed a feast of juicy burgers piled high with toppings, crispy chicken wings bursting with flavor, and chips cooked to perfection. But the food wasn't the only highlight of our visit. The pub itself has a warm and inviting atmosphere, with cozy corners and a welcoming vibe. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our meal. And as a bonus, they even have Blue Moon on tap! It's the perfect place to relax with friends or family over some great food and drinks.

Great traditional pub in the heart of Brighton.

They refused to accept an European ID as proof of age. I was asked for driving license or passport to be able to order a pint. On top of that, the manager was rude and talking to me as if I wasn’t able to understand such a simple policy for her. I never had such a problem in any other pub in Brighton where I’ve been living for nearly 5 years. It’s ridiculous, I was in shocked. There are plenty of pubs in Brighton, I recommend going to any other European friendly one.

Food ✅️ Drinks ✅️ All good. Atmosphere can suffer sometimes and service gets slow but that's the same as every pub in this location. Prices aren't bad for the area though.

Nice cosy pub in Brighton. Average drinks prices but a great atmosphere. Didn’t have to wait too long at the bar and the toilets are well looked after. Only stopped for a pint but the menu looks nice.

Café where you can also sit outside under a heat lamp. The bangers & mash here was great.

This place has scrubbed up rather nicely. A good selection of beers. Some hand pulled beers would be nice. But otherwise a less crowded place to meet in the centre of town. Didn't eat there so no idea on that front.

We came here for dinner with my family. We ordered food and waited for more than an hour for it, even though there weren't many other customers there. And soon after we started eating they told us we had to leave because no under-18s are allowed inside after 7pm and we had our kids with us. If the food arrived in time this wouldn't have been an issue. And they could have at least told us about this when we entered. We just had to pack our food into boxes and leave halfway through the meal. The food was good, but not worth the price or the inconvenience.

We had 4 great roast dinners yesterday. We say the little plates and thought that won't be enough, but we were proved wrong, the food was more than enough and we left feeling full, after enjoying a really good meal.

Disgusting attitude. Came into this pub a year ago with a Mexican family member who wanted to try one of the beers first, as you do, and the member of staff behind the bar took one look at him and told us that they don’t just give our product out like that. Clearly a racial thing and incredibly embarrassing. I’ve never felt this way before and will never ever step foot in this pub again. Nor will I recommend anyone else to, either.

£6.70 for a pint of Guinness. Takes the piss. Wasn't even perfectly poured. Grow up. Overpriced with no atmosphere.

Great atmosphere in a traditional setting

Such a hidden gem! Nipped in here whilst waiting for an appointment for a glass of wine and it’s lovely! Little smoking area out the back which is covered and an absolutely perfect spot to sit with a drink and book. Staff are super friendly and drinks are well priced for the area :) (didn’t order food)

Really enjoyed our little beer stop here whilst we were walking around the Lanes. Prices were reasonable for where it is, the place itself is lovely and airy. Staff were friendly too. I'll definitely be coming back when next in Brighton.

Bar staff are uninterested, would rather talk amongst themselves, and make you feel like an inconvenience. Whilst the Tiny Rebel beer is always good (anywhere you go, thank you Tiny!), a smile wouldnt go amiss with this place!

3.5 star Services is good but was let down a little by quality and preparation of the food on our last visit.

Had lunch and a drink here on the first Bank Holiday Monday. Fairly busy so had to wait for food but it was nice, plentiful and hot. Good selection of beers and spirits and the staff were friendly too.

Called in while visiting on Sunday, nice pub, good vibe and friendly staff. We had 3 x Roast dinners (a beef, a chicken and a nut roast £45 which is an average price for 3 Sunday dinners) Unfortunately, we were all Ill to differing degrees following our visit which is a shame because we all really liked the place. Hopefully just a blip on their part. I did ring and explain, apparently no other reports, we were just unlucky.

I had a splendid Sunday roast in this pub during a sunny Sunday of February! I liked this pub, very chilled but in a bubbly area of Brighton! The food was delicious and the place had everything you would look for in a pork roast ! I would definitely recommend it :D

We went today to eat Sunday roast and we really enjoyed it. The pork belly was really tender and well cooked. The potatoes were proper made and the vegetables also. The staff very friendly and the atmosphere amazing. I haven’t had such a lovely roast for a long time!
