Went to the Wilford green as a couple with 2 young children. No kids menu, which was fine as the waitress said they did smaller portions, when the bill came was charged at adult price.ordered 3 x fillet steaks, which were fatty and chewy. When mentioned to the landlord his response " well the chef must of picked the wrong steak out!!! Ok.... Still got charged for fillet! When asked bar staff to take off the final bill, the landlord stated he had already taken on steak meal off... Which was not eaten as came out cold. Anyway, the young lady/ waitresswho continuously apologized was brilliant. Didnt get her name but she deserves a blue Peter badge for putting up with the environment she works in. Also..... Little white dog which I believe belongs to the landlord chased my husband as he went to pay our bill..... Hilarious but not really very welcoming.

Very disappointing popped in for a drink conceded having a bite to eat, changed my mind once I saw a dog urinating on the floor next to the Christmas tree! General standards are obviously not on the agenda as this dog was running free & ventured into the kitchen area and out again this place has been taken over but obviously by people who are not professional, used to be a really great pub , So disappointing I recommend avoiding,

I live locally and pass by almost daily. It is a while since I last ventured in and it looks like nothing has changed. Poor service the staff don't have a clue, they would rather stand and chat to the few people who do go in. Tables not cleared., just plain dirty. I would not think of taking anyone in given the state of the place, and the kind of cliental that do actually go in.

My husband and I stopped in when we saw the place was in fact open again, I really wish we hadn’t bothered. All of the charm left with the previous management (and so did the lovely decor) there has been a fruit machine brought in (why?!) and the only patrons were sweary rough middle aged men who clearly use bad language as punctuation. After being served an orange and lemonade in a grubby Stella glass and having sat by the fire the smell of old grease and dirty beer soaked towels drove us out. Just a whole bag of nope from us!

We came here shortly after the re-opening and there were some news members of staff. It now seems a lot of the old staff have returned along with associate smoking outside the door with all the smoke blowing in. Basically no change, same grubby furniture ( a leather seat in the bar area is frankly disgusting) and there is now a one armed bandit and a Mexican and curry night. So sad this place has changed it used to be quite a nice bar / restaurant and quite a buzzing place. Now it's a bit of a rundown unloved pub.

Theres a new couple which have been in only a week or two but i really cannot see them making a go of it. Coming up with a menu in an average pub which has Burgers at over £10, Shepherds Pie at £12 but then has a new fruit machine next to the bar, mixed clientelle (many of which stand smoking just outside next to the bar serving area with the door open) and in need of a good decoration overall isnt going to bring new customers in. They need to look at the local opposition too and see theres a Harvester opposite - so keep away from cheap and cheerful - The Ferry up in the Village - which is a pub full of character and style and which is a far more classier and come in somewhere in between. It would be nice to see a good menu for a quick lunch too ie a pint and a pannini, jacket potato or a selection of hot cold sandwiches. And then another reasonable menu for evening trade. At the moment its lacking in every detail ie style, menu, clientele and service. I really hope things go well but it doesnt look likely for a while yet. They need to listen to customer feedback too!

We visited Nottingham and looked for a spot of lunch where we could take our dog. We found the pub near west bridgeford area. The car park is large and close to local coop store. There is outside seating for al fresco dining when summer kicks in. Plenty of people just having drinks inside and outside. The bar staff were welcoming prices looked reasonable so we ordered a rump steak and a burger dish which we shared between three. Portion wise it was ok but the steak was small see photos. The place could do with a refurbishment and clean. We thought it was ok for what we wanted. Room for improvement....

I ordered the post post belly sandwich and my husband the fishfinger sandwich .. when mine came it was not a sandwich it was a lump of cold pork belly in a bowl with 6 baby new potatoes surrounding it in a watery red juice ... as everybody knows pork belly should be crispy it was soft and really fatty .. I said to the waitress I ordered the sandwich to which she replied well do you want some bread with it !!I send it back and ordered the fishfinger sandwich same as my husband I don't know what fish it was but it was chewy just awful ... basically we left hungry shall not be returning !!

Presentation, quality and service is in my opinion diabolical. The sort of place you don't go back to twice, if you have got any sense, that is.The only way this place can get good reviews, I think, is if the friends and family of employees give them.

Been here a few times with varying results. This last time convinces me that they've got their act together. Went in for a business lunch which is normally only an hour and was in and out in that time. In the past it's been longer and once I was turned away being told that they weren't taking any "walk ins" at that time. Not sure I like to be referred as a "walk in" to my face. Before that I caught one of the staff buying custard from the local Coop because they'd run out and I vowed never to go back. Anyway I did and this time not bad. At lunchtime they serve everything from sandwiches to meals and it's tasty. There is a nice atmosphere in the place and the staff were attentive and pleasant. I had a good experience and lunch went smoothly. I'd go back.

Four people dining. One had slow roast belly pork which was cooked but wasn't 'crispy'. Two people had fish & chips - both fish looked & tasted like the fish had been into the fryer more than once; the batter was dark & too hard so had to be removed, not eaten. The fourth person had the special which was a beef stew; the meat was fine (only one piece was a little tough) but the gravy was thin and not thick & juicy as one would expect. Service was good however, staff being friendly & pleasant.

We have been coming here regularly for dinner and drinks since the revamp a few years and always enjoyed it. However since the demise of the local "colonial" pub a lot of the clientele from there seems to be coming here. Now while I'm a broadminded person I don't really like to see workman in dirty clothes and boots, swearing amongst themselves, leaving the doors open so they can smoke with associated smoke and a freezing wind blowing in. This is a trendy gastro type pub and its not really suitable which has changed the feel of the pub. We called in last night and promptly left as it was very rowdy and went to the ferry which is what the wilford used to be like. They must get a firm grip on this or the identity will change.

Lumpy mash and cold veg cold yorkies dry and crisp!Roast potatoes tasted as though they had been cooked the day before, who cooks a meal in the morning then eat it in the afternoon? Rhetorical question as the answer is noone but a "cook" that doesn't give a chit because he's not eating it!The staff were nice if you could get their attention as they all stood around talking in the corner with the manager allowing it?!?! Not the way to get respect from your team! All in all one of the worst Sunday lunches I've ever had, I will also add that I don't like giving bad reviews at the same time I don't like going for a meal and it's crap, people should know what they are getting before they walk in the door!

Lovely place, I have eaten here a couple of times before and it has been enjoyable. Sunday lunch is not to be recommended though. Took 40 mins to arrive. Roast Potatoes tasted as though they'd been reheated, mash was luke warm, Yorkshire Pudding was both hard, and dry. My companion ordered the 'extra large' and though not pricey as such, you do pay more here for a 'pub' meal. This consisted of 3 small pieces of Beef, also rather dried out, and the only extra we could see was a 3rd Yorkshire. We had neither value, or quality of food. Complained to the manager, and sent both meals back. Left without eating and went elsewhere.

We booked a table for 3 people at 2pm on fathers day at 2pm.On arrival we were put into a side room even though the restaurant was nearly empty. We were in there on our own and felt very secluded. As a result we had to wait about 35 mins before our order was taken. The meal arrived about 20 mins later. My husband had the steak and it looked great. I had the roast lamb dinner and my daughter had the roast beef dinner. The first thing I tried were the carrots which were stone cold. Saying that the lamb was plentiful and really nice. The other veg on the plate was also cold. When I came to try the mash potatoes they tasted sour, I asked my daughter about her potatoes and she described them as “bitter”. My husband tried them and agreed that there was a problem. We had to get up and leave the side room to attract a waitress and explained. She did not take the plates but offered to get us some more mash.By the time the new mash came we had finished the rest of our dinner. We explained that we had finished but the waitress just offered to bring us some extra gravy to go with the new mash???????When our plates were cleared, including the bowl of new mash, we were asked if we wanted desserts, we said that we would take a look at the menu, which was bought to us.We then waited over 30 mins for an order to be taken, and this was only taken after we had yet again gone up to ask for a waitress to come. After about another 35 mins the original waitress that had given us the dessert menu came to us and asked if we would like a dessert??? We explained that we had already given in an order. She came back and apologised that it had been put behind the bar and had been forgotten. It was now nearly 5pm and we had still not had our desserts or coffee and what was more annoying was that to the side of the table that we sat was a glass panel were we could see through into the kitchen area.A waitress had been there nearly the whole time texting on her phone in between sorting out cutlery.Have been here quite a few times and the service and food have gone down hill. Its such a shame. The restaurant was at no time full or even busy.We may give it one more try just in case this was a one off.If its any better then I will let you know. Starters were ok, perhaps could have been hotter, but were so hungry didn’t want to complain and send anything back by that point. I checked the time when the mains arrived, and that was 1hr 10 after our table booking time. This wasn’t good for my daughter who had opted not to have a starter. The place was nearly empty so I can’t see there was any justification for the wait. Mains were ok, but in addition to the delay, I question whether the quality matches the prices they charge. What I will say is that when I paid I commented on the delay, this was acknowledged well, and a reduction on the bill was given.Doubt I would return.

Having popped into the Wilford Green for an early dinner, we left feeling very unimpressed. We ordered the cheese burgers and light lunch fish and chips. The fish batter appeared to have been slightly burnt, with the fish just cooked. I'd say the oil was too hot and the fish still slightly frozen as parts of the batter had exploded off the fish. The burgers where just average but at two for a tenner acceptable I would have been very disappointed if it was the full £9.90 price. My husband and I decided to drop in for a bite to eat on bank holiday Monday, the Wilford is a usual spot of ours so we were looking forward to a nice lunch. Granted it was a bank holiday and quite busy but we still had to wait 50 minutes for our starters and no one checked to see if we wanted drinks in this time. The starters (we had the same) were the potato rosti from the specials board and were so unappealing, grey potato in the middle and a very strange aftertaste which was so strong I couldn't eat it. No one noticed a full starter was sent back?!. The linguini was okay but not much sauce and having waited another 20 minutes for it we were just underwhelmed. Usually the service is great and the food lovely so I'm not sure what happened but it has put us off going back.

Met family here after a 4 hour journey from Cumbria. The food was excellent and served promptly by very friendly staff. The cost was very reasonable and the option of smaller portions was great for those more elderly in the party.Plenty of parking available.

I wasn't actually going to write a review as I don't always agree with it, however after speaking to my work colleague this morning I feel compelled to share my experience as he had the same raw deal it seems. Myself and my husband arrived on Tues 26th April for some food around 7pm, it didn't seem too busy when we got there - I've seen it busier. The waitress that seated us asked where we wanted to sit, and we chose the 'snug' area where we were the only ones there. She took our drinks order, and brought them to us in literally 2 minutes which was cracking. She disappeared, left us with the menu and 15 minutes went by and she hadn't been back. My husband made the decision to go to the bar to order. We ordered a burger and fish and chips - easy, or so we thought. We waited over an hour, our drinks were more than empty and in the end I got cheesed off and went to the bar to order more drinks and see where the food was. The waitress said to me 'you haven't had it yet?' I was like 'nope' - she walked over to the kitchen and kept saying 'table 36 what's happened' and it transpired we had been forgotten about and they were 'cooking it now' - we were not happy2 couples in the meantime had sat in the snug with us, and their food came out before ours which made things even worse. The waitress apologised and said we could have a round of drinks on the house - in hindsight I wish I would have had a champagne. Probably the worst thing that happened, was the waitress mixed up my husbands burger and another guys - my husband had eaten the chips and said 'I know this is unprofessional but would you mind swapping plates' !!!!!! I think by this point we just wanted any food so they swapped without moaning but they should have done.Absolutely shocking, and we wont be back. Apparently it was busy due to it being a Tuesday and burger night. Can I suggest you put more staff on for these nights as 2 clearly isn't enough.

Been here on many occasions before and really enjoyed the service and food but yesterday was very disappointing. The service from the staff was very slow and sloppy. Tables were dirty, took ages to get our mains. The food wasn't as nice as it was before. I also noticed a couple sat down and then walked out after 10 minutes. The restaurant/bar was not even busy. From talking to a colleague I work with today she had the same experience a few weeks ago. Has there been a change in management? There was a very friendly lady who used to work there before - think she was the manager. If she has left this maybe the reason why the Wilford Green has gone down hill.

Well, I was put off within 5 mins of entering the venue, we had pre-ordered from a menu sent out to us, when we got to the venue there was one serving behind the bar making coffee's and one showing people to tables and also trying to sort our food out, it took us over 15 mins to get a drink from the bar. The food that we had pre-ordered we were told was no longer on the menu, why were we not told this prior to arriving, email is a simple thing to use. Most disappointed in the whole evening and put a right dampener on the evening too, the starter I had was nice to be fair, but the steak was not good and had little flavour to it.

Visited here with my partner on a weeknight. It was fairly quiet and we were seated quickly. Good choice of food on menu with an additional specials board. Food was very tasty, only problem is that one if the dishes was it what we ordered. Despite this it was very nice and was fully refunded by the manager. It would not stop me returning.

Visited the Wilford Green on Sunday early evening with friends, food was lovely but the service not so great! Got there & had a reservation for 6 people (2 children, 4 adults). Myself & my partner got there first so got sat at a table for 6, friends arrived 5 minutes later & were sat on a completely different table under the same reservation! Not very good reservation management there! Ordered drinks & food after 10 mins and waited nearly 25 minutes for food! Can't complain about food quality or taste though as it was delicious! Kept having to go up to find staff to get cutlery or extra drinks! Once finished took ages to try & get someone to bring over the bill, gave up trying to order deserts which we wanted! Finally got the bill but nobody had cleared our table etc! Member of staff apologised for not being over soon but they were "rushed off their feet"........from where we sat staff were stood around the kitchen hatch talking & hugging each other & leaning waiting......to me that's not exactly busy! Also be nice if they offer colouring & activity books for children to have sharpened pencils......none of the pots were any use! Would visit again as its local & food is lovely......just disappointed with the service this time!

We dropped in for lunch - three generations! My mum, who's in her 80's, my son, who 9 and me. It's a shame that it wasn't busier, as it is a real hidden gem. We eat from the light lunch and kids menu - which didn't disappoint in quality or value for money. One word "yummy"

We visited for a birthday meal. The table was booked through their website and no problems - we increased numbers the day before and that was fine.We booked for 3 p.m. (on Sunday) and it seemed to be in the lull between a busy lunchtime and evening. So nice atmosphere, but not too busy,Although there is a very extensive menu (which made it hard to choose) we all chose a Sunday Roast including for the toddler who had little choice!Service was fine, and meals were delivered surprisingly quickly. Good quality and tasty food - all platefuls were plentiful - even the toddler's portion was a good size, fine for any child up to the ravenous teenager!Well done chefs' and well done staff.Looking forward to our next visit.

We visited on the evening of Mother's Day and there were no vegetarian dishes left, as the pub had been so busy serving meals during the day. We were just deciding where else to go, when the waitress offered to talk to the chef to see if he could rustle something up. The result? a truly delicious fresh pasta dish and I was mightily impressed. They should add this permanently to the menu! Thanks to Simon the chef (who said he makes this at home for his girlfriend!).

As the local committee for a national charity we meet at the Wilford Green about 5 times a year. The management are keen to support the local community. For our annual dinner on a Tuesday evening we placed our meal orders a few days beforehand and the food was ready as soon as our AGM finished. The staff were very helpful and the food was delicious, making our evening most enjoyable.

When paying over £4 a pint and £19 for a bit of pork, you expect more than.... being asked to find your own seat (would have liked to be told that the table we picked would quickly have a speaker propped next to it for the 'live band'), being told "menu's are over there on the side", forgetting you are there despite 4 people being in the restaurant so you have to go to the bar to order, having to go to the bar for another drink while eating as no one came to the table (to see 3 staff, mainly texting on their phones), nobody asked how our food was (average), fed up waiting for our bill so had to go to the bar to pay (not nice to see someone tying a rubbish bag behind the bar). No wonder the place is so much quieter than when we used to go previously. Limited menu, overpriced and awful service. Not returning.

Despite a rocky start when our booking couldn't be found, the welcoming and friendly staff managed to find us a table for 5 on Mothering Sunday. We all had traditional Sunday lunch and desert which were both delicious. Good honest homemade food served with a smile. What's not to like? Portion size was perfect as often you are overloaded for Sunday dinners but if it wasn't enough there is an option to order a large plate. Very pleasant environment for a relaxing family lunch.

Having enjoyed many good meals here I was very disappointed this week. I had the red snapper special, sent it back once because it was not cooked, but the replacement was not much better. It was barely recognizable as edible fish, and yes, I have had snapper before. We can only think that the chef has changed recently. We are now looking for another local pub - restaurant where we can feel safe that the following will be good.

Our recent experience at The Riverside Farmhouse Carvery was beyond infuriating. Arriving at 7:30 pm, well within their advertised hours, we were informed that they’d run out of carvery – the very dish they brand themselves around. This isn’t just disappointing; it’s a complete failure in planning and customer service. A so-called “carvery” restaurant running out of its main attraction an hour & half before closing is beyond incompetent. They couldn’t even be bothered to ensure the primary meal they’re known for would be available? When we expressed our disappointment, we were met with indifference – no apology, no compensation, not a shred of accountability. It felt like we were inconveniencing them by expecting the meal we’d come for. But the lack of care didn’t stop there. When we tried to salvage our evening by ordering dessert, we were told they were not serving “Menu” desserts only Take Away– and still well before closing! Clearly, they were trying to quietly close early, with little regard for the customers they’d left hanging. And as if that weren’t bad enough, it became obvious what their true priority was: Christmas decorations. The dining area was closed off, cluttered with boxes of decorations, as though preparing the restaurant for the festive period took precedence over actually serving the people who came to dine. With a road closure outside, it’s clear they’d pulled both the carvery and dessert offerings to shut down early and focus on decorating. The utter lack of professionalism and disregard for paying customers was appalling. This isn’t just a disappointment – it’s a warning. If you’re thinking of going to The Riverside Farmhouse Carvery, don’t waste your time. A restaurant that cares more about hanging tinsel than serving its core menu, that shows zero regard for its patrons, and that quietly pulls service to close up early has no business pretending to care about customers. Avoid this place at all costs.
