I cannot rate this beautiful gem of a place highly enough! The owners and all the staff are absolutely amazing x We moved to Canterbury and instantly fell in love with its charming, cozy and welcoming feel. The food is so tasty and reasonably priced and they are so flexible in catering to families. Our two girls love it there and the coffee and cakes have not helped my waistline ❤️ A sweet, family run business nestled down a gorgeous cobble street - it’s a must for anyone in Canterbury, visitor or local x

A small little cafe on a prime street to the cathedral. Unsure if you can book and this place seems busy during peak hours. Limited tables downstairs and around 6-8 tables upstairs. A small menu to accommodate most requirements and pricing reflected within its location. I’d say the pricing is still higher for the portions you would expect, especially the pancakes. The food was okay though and continued the journey around Canterbury. I was a little disappointed to see a dirty tray in which my food and cutlery was brought to the table on. As a tip for other guests the toilet is very difficult to navigate, it’s on the side of small wonky steps on the first floor.

The menu is quite small - drinks, a few sandwiches and snacks, which are very good with generous portions and tea served in a proper teapot. And lovely cakes. The service is good, friendly but not too over the top, and the prices are very reasonable for the city centre. Nice atmosphere. So why three stars? Firstly the loo. It is on the first floor and really difficult to access even for a fairly able bodied person. A quirk of the old building of course, but just a warning if you visit. Secondly, the cafe is ‘dog friendly’. Nothing wrong with well behaved dogs but again a warning e.g. in case of allergy but on the recent occasions I have visited, I have noticed something which means I will not be revisiting. On each occasion, a member of staff greeted the customer and after taking the order petted the dog/s. Then proceeded to make the drinks, get cake from the stand etc and fulfil other orders without visibly washing hands or sanitising. I apologise if in fact there is a hygiene code which I just didn’t see in action but feel I need to bring this to management’s attention.

A great atmosphere inside with friendly staff and with prices that wont break the bank. Only stopped for a drink and a slice of cake ( the lemon drizzle was very good ), but next time in Canterbury we'll be experiencing more items from the menu that looked fantastic. Would highly recommend it.

My partner and I were looking for a coffee and snack, in the centre of Canterbury, a difficult task given all the touristy things there to take your money for sub par food etc. We stumbled up Wilding, looked inside saw it was busy, a good sign, saw it looked atmospheric, another good sign, and saw that the staff were all smiling....I was sold. We entered and we were greeted by a lovely, smiley and friendly lady who showed us to our table. We ordered 2 x cappuccinos, a pannini and carrot cake to share. The cappuccinos were the best ever, in a Café, the pannini was warmed through and super tasty and the carrot cake was better than mom used to make. So, if you're ever in Canterbury, go to Wilding, best Café in the city.

We usually come to Canterbury for lunch (The Foundry is a fab place by the way!), but only wanted a drink & cake and stumbled across this place. It’s a lovely coffee shop and the waitress we spoke to was very friendly & chatty. I had a lovely hot chocolate and a chocolate orange brownie, my kids had milkshakes and shared a waffle. It’s very reasonably priced too. Will definitely return again.

It was a cold day and we needed a warm place for a coffee. Well we found this quaint place that served excellent tea in old style cups and fantastic home made cakes. People were lovely and the atmosphere of the place was charming. The prices were very reasonable and we had an excellent 40 min break in this wonderful place.

I’m a local and this is fast becoming my favourite place to eat with the family. The staff and family that run this are so welcoming, always friendly and nothing is ever too much. I suffer with severe anaphylaxis wheat allergy and many establishments will look at me like I’m on a fad diet when I mention Gluten Free options. At the Wilding, this is never the case. Staff instantly offer me a variety of options and reassure me with how it’s prepared, always asking whether I’ve enjoyed it. As for the menu and coffee- it’s brilliant. The Wilding is a little gem in the middle of a beautiful city.

I was invited for a breakfast with a friend, who visited toast the week before and was excited to return to show me the find. I was not disappointed! I had the avocado on sourdough bread, poached egg and bacon and it was 10/10! The owners were also super friendly and very accommodating, kind and welcoming, the staff also! I visited The Monument Pub after a uni lecture, asended my uncle recommended—he often comes here. It was a nice and welcoming place to catch up. My uncle had two beers with Cheddar & mozzarella chips, while I had an Aspall cider, then an Aspall half cider, and a delicious pepperoni sourdough pizza and chips. The food was tasty, and the atmosphere was great. It's a solid pub to visit in Canterbury. Would recommend!
