Toast in Canterbury

Best lunch ever! I eat regularly at Toast and cannot recommend them enough. I love it when they have Greek stuff on the menu, especially the Rosto. I also love the chilli bowl. The servings are generous and the attention to detail is really impressive for a cafe. Everyone raves about the crispy cheese on their sandwiches for example! Not only is the food great but the staff are really lovely and accommodating.

This is a fantastic cafe, great food freshly cooked to order and toasted sandwiches to die for! The menu offers a great variety of foods and Neil the chefs homemade burgers are delicious 😋 It’s also set in a gallery so there’s plenty of artwork to view while you’re there.

Great cafe that serves very interesting and tasty food. Will go again and again. Highly recommended. They also love dogs and provide snacks

Fancied a nice cake and cup of tea. Chose a scone....didnt think it was possible to mess with a scone, but they arrived looking like they'd been flattened to go into a toaster. Or pushed flat to heat on a griddle pan? Why....were they stale? So the butter melted into them and that made them very sticky and hard to eat. The reviews all say the food is great so maybe we were unlucky. Except l remember going there a year or so ago and being disappointed.

This is an extraordinary cafe with amazing, interesting, different food, artistically presented, with a free art gallery thrown in, to boot. Although it gets busy, and things get a bit messy sometimes, there is enough friendliness & grace amongst the chaos to more than compensate.

First time here and certainly won’t be the last! Perfect poached eggs on perfect brown toast! My husband had the pulled pork and cheese toastie which he said was delicious and filling…..service was quick and staff friendly, the whole place had a great vibe! Reasonably priced too. Glad we stopped here for our lunch

So glad my friend and I discovered this place. We were visiting Herne Bay and were looking for somewhere to have breakfast/brunch as I'm gluten free. Read the reviews which were really good and we were not disappointed. Good portions of cooked breakfast, which lasted us most of the day! Would absolutely recommend and will now go every time I visit!

A lovely spot for a morning coffee -and cake! We enjoyed looking at the art exhibition (amazing wood carving pictures) while we had our coffee.

Staying down in Herne bay for the weekend and after a short walk, found this gem for some brunch. Food: the selection of food is varied. I had the 'all in' sandwich and it was delicious. Plenty of filling and good quality products. My partner had the avocado with bacon on sourdough toast and said it was delicious. Their coffee is lost sheep coffee and also very nice. Atmosphere: a couple of rooms you can sit in. The tables and chairs are rustic but comfy. There are handmade paintings hanging all around you with members of the public coming in to admire them. Would definitely recommend and visit again next time we are in Herne bay.

This place is fabulous! The menu is vast and the food is delicious, well presented and plentiful. Really lovely, friendly staff too! Will definitely return if we're back in the area again.

Friendly staff, beautiful little garden space… very disappointing food. Scrambled eggs over cooked and bland, French fries were the most anaemic looking things- totally tastelesss. Looked like they were from the cheapest bag from Iceland. Bread was good

Wife found this place her being gluten free makes things difficult when eating out, staff are lovely and friendly, food was great had the all in sandwich was well worth it, wife had the gluten free breakfast finished the whole lot, definitely recommended especially if you have a gluten free person.

My absolute favourite place in Herne Bay! The staff are lovely, they can’t do enough for you and the service is very quick too. The food is absolutely delicious, a personal favourite being the chicken fillet burger and thin chips. It’s delicious and not expensive either, I highly recommend! There’s a wide range of gluten free and vegetarian dishes available too, so there’s definitely something there for everyone If you’re ever in Herne bay, you definitely need to visit!!

Had a full English and pot of tea here and it was fabulous! Not greasy and presented beautifully . Lovely staff and very clean and welcoming. Thoroughly recommend !!!

Very lovely small indie-cafe space with lots of character. Gallery and event space had some very nice comic/satire work when I visited. Ryan and the team, are friendly, welcoming and make an excellent smoothie (and are generous with top-ups) for a sunny day. Nice menu options, and home baked goods I'll need to get back to sample.

What a brilliant little eatery in Herne Bay! We popped in for coffee and tea, and we really enjoyed what they offered. The menu is replete with toasties, smoothies, cakes and sandwiches. Staff are friendly, and made us feel very welcome. Cannot wait to return. Highly recommended.

Great fresh food. Perfect potion size and the protein shakes are amazing.

I had the Bubble and Squeek and sadly it was to oily and the greens very undercooked. The atmosphere is very low key and quiet which is great for me.

Had seen really good things about Toast online and was excited to go there for breakfast however we were left very disappointed with the visit. 2/3 of our breakfasts contained a long hair which instantly put us off of our food and when we informed the waitress she told us that 2 of the meals would be removed from the bill. When we went to pay the bill still came to £28 for 1 breakfast and 3 cups of tea which is very expensive! The chef had no hair net on either when we walked past and very long hair not properly secured.

Had the banana bad boy smoothie from Toast, and it didn't disappoint - absolutely delicious! The rest of the menu looked so good too, so definitely need to go back (many more times!!)

Fab place to have lunch, meet with friends for coffee and cake or maybe attend the Toast Connects networking meetings which I love going to. Everyone’s so friendly and it’s a fantastic atmosphere, highly recommend

Spot on. I don't usually like fruit and veg but a Buddha Bowl and a juice sorted me right out. Great little cafe, great people, great food. Top marks.

Visited Toast for the first time today. The flat whites were excellent and also had toasted sandwiches and cheese on doorstep toast which were both delicious. We were very impressed with the friendly service and took home a chocolate brownie which was lush! Will definitely return.

Nice surroundings. Unfortunately the scrambled egg was overdone to the consistency of rubber and the toast was not toasted.

We visited this charming, small restaurant/tea room which is on Beach Road opposite the main car) coach park. It is a 5minute walk from the sea-front .The staff are amazingly friendly and the food is excellent &nearly all home-made. Most of the dishes are vegan/vegetarian although meat&eaters can ask for additional bacon. There are "Specials of the day" to sample along with a choice of home-made scones &cakes. My wife said the chocolate fudge cake was 'yummy'There is a large choice of smoothies &milk shakes along with tea/coffee available (& reassuringly served in China cups)Although there are not many seats available in the tea-room, there is an attached 'art centre' to peruse.Prices are reasonable.

Excellent, healthy, home-made food with an interesting menu. Good to sit amongst gallery display - tables all have water on. Sardines and grilled tomoatoes on toast a must! Lovely staff team Good for a quick coffee or lunch.

Visited Toast cafe last week for lunch, not our usual cafe in Hernebay but we thought we would have a change. I had 2 poached egg on toast and a cup of tea and my partner had coffee and cake. Very nice little cafe but overpriced I think, £6.50 for the poached eggs!! Even though it tasted very nice I will not return to eat, only for a cuppa.. Having visited many cafes Toast is by far the most expensive for poached eggs. A shame as I do like to stay local..

Delicious food, well presented at affordable prices. The staff are welcoming and very friendly. This will become one of my regular must go to places.

This is a must-go-to cafe in Herne Bay which my friend and I discovered today. Really friendly staff, a lovely light filled building with a garden, and very tasty food at a reasonable price. My mushroom, buttery spinach and Halloumi on granary was delicious! The coffee was fab too. I will definitely go back, and will be recommending to friends.

We went here as a family and discovered a gem of a cafe tucked between two supermarkets and an art gallery. We have a child that is gluten free and that was not an issue with the wonderful variance on the menu. My wife van only eat mozzarella cheese, again not a problem, poor ole Leona got dispatched to buy some. The Victoria Sponge, well Queen Victoria and Victoria Beecham could not of rustled up a better cake between them, it was a cake of the gods. Other redeeming factors, great coffee, great art work and great service. A must for foodies and art lovers.

This cafe inside an art gallery is the jewel in the crown of Herne Bays food establishments. The food is always cooked fresh to order. The menu if varied with a lovely variety of dishes from breakfast to salads. You must try their pancakes with a variety of toppings delicious. Or one of my favourite meals is eggy bread with bacon and maple syrup.They have an enclosed garden for use in the summer months which is delightful. Another bonus for me is this cafe is very dog friendly which is a bonus for us dog owners.Would highly recommend a visit.

A lovely light open setting within a gallery, Toast dishes up delicious meals and drinks (the coffee is great as are the juices) as well as makes families feel very welcome. Our two year old got his crumpets served very quickly (he is impatient and this was a lovely gesture) and a booster seat. Staff are friendly and professional. Food is locally made or sourced and really good (I love brunch in there as well as their cakes). Highly recommended!

Had a lovely brunch on Sunday morning. We were greeted warmly by the ever smiling host, Sherry. We sat in the main gallery of Beach Creative so we could admire the art work while we waited.

What a lovely place for lunch. Incredibly generous portions, delicious, freshly made food and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

My Husband and I were delighted when my Daughter won a competition for us at this restaurant. Firstly we were greeted at the door, then showed to a choice of three tables in one room which I thought was great. It was quiet and although others there you did not hear them so could talk. The Olives and 3 different breads to start , followed by our starter then main meal, dessert and to top it all home made chocolates. There is nothing negative to say about this restaurant and the staff were attentive and nothing too much trouble. We went for the evening meal but they do snacks during the days. I will certainly visit here again and in the Summer you can sit outside. Highly recommended.

Love Toast, the staff are always very friendly, cakes and sandwiches are amazing. As an art lover you have the added benefit of sitting in art gallery whilst you snack on a delicious piece of homemade cake. There vegan brownie is amazing, even if like me you are not vegan or vegetarian!

I love coming here for a quick bite to eat - the food is always amazing and the staff are great! They are so good with kids and there is loads of choice of food for them and us! It is a lovely spot in town!

We visited Toast for the first time today and we’ll be back tomorrow for sure. Visiting from Australia this place serves the best flat white we’ve had in the UK during our stay. This place is a real gem in this town, we were made to feel so welcome, the friendly staff clearly know what they’re doing and their passion and knowledge shines through in their attention to detail, their friendliness and in their cooking. The food is quite delicious I can highly recommend the eggs - cooked to perfection if you love poached eggs then head to Toast. We have two boys and they catered for their fussiness both my boys loved their smoothies supplied by Little Pep another local producer. We loved everything about this establishment they seem to tick all the boxes, their love of the environment and connection to the arts (its connected to a gallery - Beach Creative) just rounded off the experience. When you have a friend who is vegan and you are a full blooded meat eater it has been know that we had to eat in different places on a trip out to get the meals we needed . No fear here at Toast, they serve both and serve it well too. We both felt the food was created with love and the staff were very passionate about living us the best food experience ever. If we are in the area again we would certainly call in and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Fantastic cafe in Herne Bay, great menu choice and the best coffee served for miles! All dietary requirements catered for; vegan, gluten free, glutinous (me!) and kids. My son was welcomed by the friendly staff with a Hulk stool, great smoothie and sandwich! Highly recommend the cake and cream tea too

Toast is a real little find. Friendly staff and delicious food in a cosy laid back environment. We had smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on toast and it was fab. I have gluten intolerance and that was easily catered for. Can't wait to go back!

I often pop into Toast when I’m out and about in town. Sometimes it’s hard to find healthy food choices when you need something quick. I LOVE Toasts fresh smoothies as well as the tasty paninis. Great quality, healthy and nutritious food at reasonable prices, what more could you ask for?
