Wildernest in Sunderland

We ordered a drink, starter and main course each. After about 20 minutes the main course came. The waiter blamed the printer for not printing out the starters we asked for (sic). Since the steaks were supposed to be cooked to our requirements we forwent the starters. Our steaks were actually very good (cooking and tasting), but I had one element missing that the very clever chef must have known I didn’t much care for, that was destined for my wife.

I came here for cocktails on a Friday night, and the overall experience was good. The setting was comfortable, and the music wasn’t so loud that you couldn’t have a conversation. The drinks themselves were lovely and quite reasonably priced compared to some other establishments like this. There was a good range of very nice mocktails for non-drinkers. It took quite a while to be served and for glasses to be cleared from tables, but the staff I encountered were very friendly... perhaps they just needed more staff on.

We came here for restaurant week which was 2 courses for £10 or 3 courses for £15. We were sat at our reserved table and given our menus, we had to catch a waitress to show our voucher for restaurant week menu who also informed me if we went to the bar for our drinks, it was happy hour until 7pm which was great to know as we got 50% off 2 rounds and a free round. We ordered our food and the service was great. Food was nice and good portion sizes. A lot of people just drink here rather than eat so it can become loud

Popped in solo on a work trip as I'm staying in the hotel next door. Had some dinner (Moroccan chickpea curry) which was really nice. Rice was slightly undercooked and curry was slightly over seasoned but overall a great, hearty meal. and decent value. Staff were lovely and helpful and seemed on top of things. I noticed them go above and beyond for a family who were asking for some off-menu frozen non-alcoholic cocktails (as someone with a rich history working in hospitality, I know how disproportionately annoying and frustrating it is when people ask for this!). Great selection of draught and bottled/ canned beer too. Cocktail menu looked brilliant. The real strength of this place is its amazing decor; inside and out. I sat outside where they have a fire pit and nice covered seating until around 9pm which was lovely. Absolutely worth a visit!

My family and I visited twice in one week. Very nice restaurant in terms of drinks (plenty to choose from). However I did struggle finding food that did not seem spicy. So I ended up choosing sides, one being lobster mac and cheese which I would highly recommend! Staff were friendly and made us feel very welcome.

Have wanted to try here for a while. It was a friends birthday It was great from start to finish Sharing platters were delicious I had the prawn curry Soooo tasty. Staff were so pleasant and friendly and there were some good deals too. Will be back to try the cocktails

First time being here after seeing so many good things. Group of 5 of us booked and table was ready on arrival 👍🏼 Sunday lunch menu alongside normal menu which was good especially since it was bank holiday! Server was really friendly but clearly ran off her feet.. drinks took an eternity as there was only one man on the bar (?!) but all of a sudden after we got them there was 4/5 on the bar so obviously catering to the needs of each individual bar within the palm. Still took ages for drinks though! We got a mixture of Sunday lunches and normal menu. Food was LUSH. Sunday dinner which I had was very well presented. Veggies & gravy separate which is always good. Drinks need a bit consistency. Two bloom & marmalade gin cocktails looked completely different and also overhead they ran out of marmalade so to mash oranges 🙄 not ideal! Rose sangria is highly recommended though! All in all a good experience but I don’t think they realised how busy it wouldve been!

2 for 1 cocktails were tasty and made quickly. Friendly staff and lovely atmosphere on a mid week visit. We only stayed for a few drinks before attending a booking for a meal in the restaurant above but will be back.

First visit here and was for our wedding anniversary. Took a couple of minutes to be acknowledged even though there were 2 people in the bar area. Once seated we were brought the menu and told they were out of Lobster and Chicken Parfait. Really annoying as we were going to have the Parfait and the Steak and Lobster. Was only 4.30pm and also probably a third of the main menu contains Lobster! Not really good enough..... But we decided to stay. We didn't order any starters as there was nothing else we liked/wanted but ordered the £19.95 mixed grills. I have to say they were delicious, good quality and cooked really nicely. The waitresses were really lovely and asked several times if everything was okay. Still really disappointed about the Lobster!!!

I went with a friend to Wildernest recently. I ordered Lobster Thermidor and my friend had an 8oz steak to be cooked medium. His steak was very pink in the middle and difficult to cut. My lobster was small but tasty. As we were there using my 2 for 1 app from Call the Meerkat the total cost wasn't too bad but I wouldn't like to have paid the full price of £15.95 for my half lobster. Our waitress was very pleasant and friendly and the food was served quite quickly. The entrance to the Palm is lovely - brings back memories of holidays abroad.

Visited for Sunday dinner, food was excellent, our waitress Gabrielle was amazing,had great customer service of her will definitely be back

As the title suggests we booked for restaurant week. Three course for £15. Now my wife is a fussy eater but there was plenty of choice on the menu for her and plenty for me too. The popcorn chicken with sweet chilli and slaw was lovely, a really juicy and tasty burger and delicious and generous churros. We also received excellent service. I really did enjoy this evening out.

Called in for lunch on spec when out for a drive. Place looks amazing! good menu, however some items were not available, however we did call in week following new year. Sunday lunch was fab. Staff were lovely if a little ditzy! A nice relaxed lunch.

What a fabulous addition to Sunderland this is! Great food, amazing selection of drinks and the atmosphere is fabulous at any time of day. Try the cheese fondue-it is amazing.
