Lovely ambience and customer service Celebrating our wedding anniversary the food was excellent and our steak expert(the lovely Sam) was on the ball All in all we will return as its always a lovely night

We had the bread and the halloumi fries from the nibbles followed by the butchers block sharing board all of which were great, the lettuce wedge would have benefitted from a quick char on the grill and we got the included fries, quite why chunky chips warrants a surcharge is beyond me, are all potatoes not created equal? Everything on the board was lovely, well cooked and well presented, a very pleasant evening.

Fantastic food and equally fantastic service. Would highly recommend, well worth the money. The staff go above and beyond to ensure you have a great experience.

The food was delicious and our sever Kaitlyn was very on top of everything and we all felt very looked after. The food came in good time too

steak was nice chips were absolutely terrible - for 'thick cut chips' i expected hand made not greasy cheap frozen chips with no flavour - for the amount the meal costs could do better chips server was excelent

Disappointing Experience at Miller & Carter Sunderland We visited Miller & Carter Sunderland this evening as a table of two at 4:15 pm (walk-in). Despite the restaurant being quiet, the service was severely lacking. Staff were gathered near the food pass, chatting amongst themselves rather than engaging with customers. This made it difficult to reorder drinks, and we ultimately left without ordering dessert due to the poor service. We had to request the bill multiple times and were met with a dismissive “sorry, it’s not my section” response, which only added to our frustration. The lack of attentive service, combined with the audible idle gossip and chatter from staff near the food pass, made for an uncomfortable dining experience. It’s clear there was no management presence to guide or supervise the team, resulting in a disappointing and unprofessional atmosphere. Sadly, we won’t be rushing back based on today’s experience.

Attended tonight with some friends after a recent visit on our recommendation. Food was excellent yet again , lovely relaxed atmosphere and not noisy at all given how busy the restaurant was.We were served by Kayleigh tonight who was very attentive and diligent. Good value for money.

As always a great location for a good steak 🥩 all the food top notch & service off Kacey was excellent she had great advice & nothing was to much trouble for her great personality, which added to our eating experience will b back for sure. Would I return? No. Not if it was the same as this time around. Food - Scallops for a starter sounded great, but what was served appeared to be a whole load of jarred apple sauce with old smoked bacon chunks with some unseasoned scallops which were totally overpowered by the other flavours. Disappointing to say the least. For mains the steak, as always, was the saviour dish and and prevented the whole meal being a write off. Service - graded this a 3/5 not because of our server, he was brilliant whenever he was able to get to the table, but he had no support. He had several large tables and nobody supporting him getting orders to and from the tables. He was a 5/5, but his support 1/5. Everything just took far to long to get to and from he table and the wait between courses was simply poor. Atmosphere - everything just felt.....OK. The staff didn't really seem into it for the most part and you could see customers having to really make effort to get their bills or make payments etc. Not great, not awful.

Food was OK but not many team members and the ones they had were very young and clearly not well trained. They did their best but the management needs to improve. Not going to rush back

First time here since the change over from Harvester to Miller and Carter and I have to say it did not disappoint. Our waiter Dave was amazing from start to finish such a nice guy looked after us well throughout our visit. Food was amazing everyone says its over rated I say it's under rated as it's the most amazing steak myself and my partner have came across along with the rest of the food. Such a joy to be here this evening and we will be back for next date night. Hats off to Dave!!

Had an Anniversary Meal today,had The Butcher's Block,and WOW.!..It was Absolutely Amazing,and our Steak Expert was Bethany,who was Very Friendly,Chatty and Pleasant..And the chef wrote us a "Happy Anniversary" message in chocolate with a couple of heart shaped strawberries..So You All Get Another ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ For Effort...Thanks And See You All Again VERY SOON...👌

Food was delicious, service was brilliant, so polite and kind. The only thing, I know steaks need to rest so are not piping hot when they're served but all main course food wasn't very hot. All other food was perfect. Miss the sweet potato fries though!

I visit this M&C all the time, the food is always good but the service is always, always poor. We experience everything from having to call staff over to order drinks, food, get the table cleared and receive desert menu's. When they bring drinks to the table they do not remove the empty ones, every time I visit lately it's different waiting staff so I assume staff retention is high and I am always served by a new, less experienced staff.

Lamb was very good, potatoes great. Not enough variety of veg on Sunday sharer, didn't feel like a Sunday dinner. Yorkshire puddings were comparable to aunt Bessie's, you can do better. Steak was way too thin and overcooked due to the thinness. I've never been blown away with a steak at Miller and Carter. I was hoping today may change my mind but I was left disappointed

I brought my brother here for a meal, wish I'd not bothered. The food is gradually getting worse at Miller & Carter. The starter arrived (bread board) although they brought the wrong one. They brought sourdough and no sideplates - so the table was a mess. The steaks were both ordered medium - mine was closer to being rare and my brother's was more on the well done side. The fri es were dry as sticks and tasted stale. Honestly, as someone who's visited quite often, it's sad to think that I won't be so keen to revisit. The prices are VERY expensive for mediocre food and the "dress code" is non-existent. People dress better to go McDonalds. No, I didn't complain about the food as I wouldn't trust anything that arrived at the table after complaining.

5 stars are given for the impeccable table service given by Shaun and surroundings. 4 stars for food is because we were slightly disappointed that our meal went cold quite quickly and chunky chips were mainly scraps (and clearly frozen chips)Home made would have been far far better in a restaurant of this calibre.

Family celebration for our Nephew’s 21st birthday. Nice to have Family together but the restaurant and service were very poor…. Waited ages for drinks to arrive and for food orders to be taken and to arrive. Food was poor with starter chicken chipotle just fatty and gristly. Main wasn’t much better with half roast chicken appearing to be pink tinged… again service between courses was really really slow… tables were all squashed together in a long row not good for a family get together, thought we would’ve had a large round table so we could all chat together. Overall really disappointed in atmosphere, food, service and value. Will definitely not be recommending this Sunderland branch.

Visited recently and was really underwhelmed by the basics. Food was served not particularly warm. Steak and sauce was good (if they can actually cook it to your liking though, not just how they think it should be served) but the chunky chips sides were virtually inedible. Would expect better for something that is £35 a head. Wouldn’t rush back.

Came for my husbands birthday. As soon as we got there, the host wished him a happy birthday. The food was good, and my steak was slightly overcooked. The server we had was slow, we were waiting to get drinks for over 15 minutes. Overall good. Would go back.

Always one of our favourite places to visit - we love the more relaxed atmosphere of the Sunderland venue, plus the accessible parking is always a winner. Service tonight from Daisy was absolutely spot on - great food recommendations, especially some of the newer sides to accompany our food. Unfortunately I didn’t think to take a photo before we ate those… but the beef shin is a must try!

Food was like other Miller & Carter restaurants I have been to. This means the Steaks were cooked very well and seasoned beautifully. Dave was very attentive and made us feel welcome. Really enjoyed it here.

Our server was Shaun he was very attentive and made our evening fun. If you are fortunate enough to have Shaun as your server you are guaranteed to have a lovely time. First class.
