WOW. Taste bud delight. The whole experience from the presentation of each course of food and drink to the setting of a spot in a lovely town, was an experience I will definitely remember and be back for. Spreading the word of this already to friends and family. Absolutely blown away.

An absolutely superb dining experience, I cannot recommend it enough. We went for the wine pairing option which is only £15 per head more than the soft drink option and therefore really worth it. The anticipation of what each course is going to be is good fun, each course was interesting, tasty and very well presented ... and paired well with the wine. My wife is both vegetarian and lactose intolerant and some places often do not put the effort into catering for her. This was not the case at Wilder and every course she was presented with was on a par with what everyone else received. It was hard to believe that some of the dishes were dairy free as they looked and tasted so creamy ... but they were, well done Matt. The staff are very good. Don't be put off by the headline price, you must try this place. It is definitely worth it.

We booked this hotel from the Michelin Guide, and decided to have a night in Nailsworth because of it. We chose the 8 course taster menu with a wine flight. The restaurant is compact, but cosy and friendly. All the staff were extremely friendly and on hand if we needed anything, and treated all of the customers as if they were friends; this made our experience extra special. The food was excellent! From its presentation to its variety of produce and unique mixture of flavours. They don't let you know what the courses are going to be, which made us feel like kids in a sweet shop, wondering what is coming up next. At the last course, the chef came around to explain the final dish personally - we thought this was a nice touch. The wine flight complemented the food perfectly. Usually, I'm not too fond of sweeter wines, but when they were paired with the right food they didn't taste so sweet and were very palatable. Overall, a wonderful experience that we would highly recommend!

Second visit and a second delightful evening. Interesting menu and entirely different from our last visit. I tried the non-alcoholic flight this time and it didn't leave me feeling like I'd missed out, just like they promise. Interesting and well paired with the dishes.

My partner and I dined here for my partner’s 30th birthday. I had the vegetarian menu and my partner had the regular one; I had only soft drinks and my partner had some alcoholic drinks. Overall this was a great evening; one of our best fine dining experiences. The vegetarian dishes were excellent and didn’t feel like worse versions of the meat dishes which is sometimes the case in some restaurants. Same with the soft drinks, which weren’t too sweet. I finished every glass without an issue! The staff was very nice and obviously passionate about their work. Honestly nothing negative to say except the prices, but that’s to be expected in fine dining restaurants! Definitely recommend and would go there again :)

A truly magical dining experience. We have been twice now (no duplication of dishes) and it’s a really special meal, but the staff make it more than just a meal. Creative, attractive and delicious food. We have done both the wine pairings and the non-alcoholic pairings and they’re both fantastic. The sommelier is knowledgeable and a joy to chat to. We will be making up special occasions just so we can visit again. A gem.

We wanted to experience a Michelin recognized restaurant while we were in Gloucestershire for a holiday. Wilder was close to our home base (Stroud) so it was a perfect fit. Our meal was delicious. Everything was high quality and the flavour combinations along with the wine (and non-alcoholic) pairings were perfect. Huge kudos to Chef Matthew and our host and server Bella. We felt like we were in good hands all throughout our meal. Our table was intimate and comfortable. It was a great night and a meal to remember.

One of the best meals we have had. We will definitely be returning. Every course was delicious and the choice of wines which accompanied each course were excellent. The atmosphere could have been improved by softer lighting and candles. Also the music was mildly annoying when we were talking. These are minor points however and overall it was a remarkable evening.

We had a wonderful evening of food and wine from attentive servers. Really impressed with the food and the only mis-step was serving a rather punchy spiced warm cider with the dessert, which was delicately flavoured. However, the rest of the meal was gorgeous and we can't wait to go again!

I took a group of friends to Wilder for Saturday Brunch to celebrate a milestone and we had a fabulous time. Without rush, but never feeling like we were waiting, Matthew and the team served a series of tasty and interesting plates from savoury to sweet. These were creative without being challenging, and every one had the most elegant presentation. .One of our party had a dietary restriction and brought her own food. Matthew plated and presented it in a way that made her feel very special and included. An extra, heartfelt, thank you for this.

Lovely evening at Wilder. I had the wine pairings, and my mum had the non alcoholic pairings with the taster menu. The food was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. I am coeliacs and they made sure I was provided with alternatives to their gluten based items that were clearly freshly made onsite (very rare to have a fresh warm bread role as someone who cannot eat gluten). We particularly enjoyed the Canapés and Bread. I have to give a special mention to the Elderflower Hollandaise which accompanies one of the courses (as the menu is a lovely surprise I won't be posting any spoilers here), one of the best hollandaise sauces I've ever had. We will definitely be back, im eyeing up the Champaigne Brunch as we speak...🍾

I bought my partner a voucher for the tasting menu for 2 for his birthday. We phoned prior to the reservation to confirm that the voucher was ok and ask if anything else was required but sadly had to pay 20% each on leaving the restaurant because “prices had increased since the voucher was purchased [3 months earlier]”. We were not warned about this price increase until after our meal (even though we phoned to confirm a few days earlier) and only told in front of the whole restaurant which pressured us into paying. Very disappointing treatment at the end of our evening, especially given the lovely food (albeit very experimental and pricey).

As a part of my daughter ‘s wedding celebration, a large group of us went to Wilder for dinner and it was absolutely fantastic. We were greeted at the door and seated immediately upon arrival. The food was delicious and what one would expect from a Michelin starred restaurant. The staff went out of their way to ensure we had a wonderful experience. By the end of the evening I had booked to return again for my 32 wedding anniversary, which says it all. I would highly recommend visiting Wilder if you love good food and I really look forward to returning later this year.

The setting: two dimly-lit grey rooms, both empty upon our arrival other than quite a few annoying flies and a smell of fishy frying oil. As it turned out, there were some no-shows so we spent the entire meal with one other couple and a totally discombobulated, constantly apologetic waiter. The “Surprise 8 course menu” is completely out of balance and woefully lacking on the culinary front. It is not really eight courses, so a tad disingenuous as the ‘courses’ included the bread and Petit Fours. I regularly eat at Michelin star restaurants both in the UK and abroad and questioned half my sleepless night why other diners had given it 5 stars – I felt as though we were eating in a parallel reality! Frankly, I wanted a refund as £320 for the two us felt like daylight robbery considering the lack of any wow factor whatsoever! A glass of Champagne that was a tad warm, although served in a cold glass was followed by Canapés or should I say an amuse bouche of one, yes one, radish sprinkled with a few Nigella seeds and literally one tiny, chewy, deep-fried Wagyu beef croquet measuring 2cm with a small dollop of what tasted like yoghurt and peanut butter atop served with a mini-croustade (shell) of tiny pieces of trout and pickled cucumber that was reasonable. This counted as a first course but didn’t bode well with us. This was served with some okay bread with burnt honey and some rather sweet thyme butter Second course was a small broad bean, artichoke and hazelnut tartlet with elderflower hollandaise – this was the best thing on offer all evening. A third course of Old Spot pork belly with Black Pudding was incredibly dry and only mitigated slightly by being compressed with slices of black pudding but again tasted too fried. The ‘main course’ of poached hake, a little burnt pureed cauliflower that was reasonable with a half of smoked apricot on the side that contributed nothing to the dish. The fifth course was the thinnest sliver of Gutshofer goats cheese gouda with a 1cm x 8cm oily sourdough crisp garnished with a few pieces of Ruboshi - some kind of fermented pickle? For some reason this was all placed in a bowl rather than a plate. Never mind, one bite and I left it all. The sixth course was a Passion fruit Posset with yoghurt foam and Matcha – again totally underwhelming. Seventh course two miniscule pieces of very plain poppy seed cake with a few equally small cubes of watermelon and dill sauce. The only redeeming feature being some fig-leaf ice cream. We were offered Petit Fours that were quite unpalatable and we declined anything further. We left rather hungry but somewhat intoxicated; not from the food but the champagne and five glasses of average wine offered, only one was red.

We booked here for our anniversary, and were absolutely delighted! it's a small restaurant with only 1 dining time and had around 20 diners, so if felt really cosy. It's a surprise menu which made it quite exciting, and each of the 8 courses were absolutely gorgeous, and the wine flight went perfectly with it. The staff were really friendly and whilst it's fine dining, it wasn't a stuffy atmosphere at all. We were sat at the back half, so we had a view of the kitchen as they prepared everything, and at the end the Chef was happy to talk about his meal which was really personable. As it's a seasonal menu, we'll have to keep going back to try it all.

The first thing to say about Wilder is that the staff are so lovely and made us feel really welcome. Nothing was to much trouble. Gluten free option for my hubby was no issue at all. Be hungry as although a taster menu, the portions are still quite large, but there is no rush to get through them as only one sitting. My favourite was the duck, cooked to perfection. Unfortunately, I left the photo taking to my hubby, who forgot, so I don't have all the courses photographed! I punished him later! Highly recommended.

We were given the Wilder experience by our son as a gift for our birthdays Not really knowing what to expect, we went along with open minds as requested an we’re simply wowed by the experience. The 8 course taster menu and accompanying wine flight was outstanding, dish after dish of mouth watering excellence matched perfectly with its wine accompaniment Creative and unique flavours presented beautifully, made even better by an attentive and knowledgeable waitress (Violet) who explained every dish and wine pairing brilliantly! This review reflects my experience of last summer. Excellent service, excellent wine pairing, good atmosphere although a bit cramped. Unfortunately the food let us down this time. In this 3 rosettes establishment, albeit well presented, the dishes were lacking in flavour, seasoning and creativity. The service was excellent, very attentive, and fast. The non-alcoholic drinks were a refreshing experience and sometimes a good surprise, offering a good alternative to wine. The first couple of appetisers, although well presented, were actually on the underwhelming side in terms of flavours. In particular, the crumpet with marmite butter was a bold idea on paper, but the marmite flavour was too tamed (believe me, I'm no big fan of marmite), and the crumpet abnormally greasy on its own. The duck egg had some good flavours at the bottom (pickled bits), but the scrambled bit was too soggy, almost sickly. The lobster course, although nicely constructed visually, sadly tasted very bland. A stronger seasoning or sauce would have elevated the whole dish completely. By far, the most disappointing course during the evening! The star of the show was the lamb, perfectly roasted and seasoned, buttery, crispy on top, with terrific textures and tasty side dishes. The cheese course had good textures, good flavours and a nice presentation. The woodruff parfait was a good surprise in terms of flavour, though underwhelming visually and could have done with another texture. The following strawberry sorbet had powerful flavours, however the accompanying drink (also strawberry based), made the pairing a bit sickly and redundant (a more herbal focused drink could have brought more contrast). The last 3 courses (parfait, strawberry sorbet and petits fours), technically all desserts, had good flavours individually, but they lacked texture when eaten sequentially. For instance, some of these courses could have done with a génoise, shortbread base or a caramelised sheet, to provide more satisfying texture variations and richness. I was craving cake and biscuits by the end of the meal... The petits fours didn't deserve their name by French standards: they had no layering nor visual intricacy, and were rather "cold mini bites". The lemon "bite" did have a surprisingly explosive flavour: great on its own, but it did clash with my coffee. Overall, certainly not a bad experience: the lamb, the cheese course and the parfait were very well executed and a 3-course version of these would be an exceptional meal. However, the asking price commanded a lot more consistency throughout.

Where do I start. This place was amazing! The service is flawless - the chefs even greet you and say bye when you leave. There’s only a handful of tables so the restaurant feels really intimidate. We had both the alcoholic and non alcoholic pairing....

8 course surprise menu that changes weekly . The food is interesting and uses a wide variety of seasonal ingredients. A lot of work and skill had gone into each plate plate of food. All of which were good, some of them were excellent. Staff...

We were fortunate enough to have enjoyed the taster meal here two years ago when we were in the area and couldn't wait to experience it again. There's always a danger that places and experiences revisited do not live up to expectation. That was certainly...

I have an extensive list of food allergies so in general avoid dining out other than in michelin star restaurants or restaurants where we know the owners. This was our first time at Wilder and they did an excellent job of catering to my needs....

The 'surprise' 8 course tasting menu with matching drinks was excellent. Really unusual ideas (sweetcorn lasagne anyone?) that worked surprisingly well and which were perfectly matched by the wines. I particularly liked the seared tuna loin and the lemon balm posset, which was served between...

Great food. Excellent service (The welcome totally put a smile on our faces after driving through fog to get there). Loved the surprise aspect of the menu. Wine pairings were well chosen. Great atmosphere. The apple granita and parsnip was the star of the show.

We had a very nice cup of tea, china cup and saucer, pot of tea with a pot of hot water. The toasted tea cakes are a good size, served hot with butter. It's a really lovely coffee shop, with a few items to buy including cards. There is a corner for toddlers to play too. The staff were lovely and really informative on local knowledge.

Always on holiday ! Jocks, livin’ da life, always away cycling and jus’ chillin’. Moaning how hot it is on the continent and that the winter fuel allowance won’t cover the air con in the van. Doors open on this fine Sunday but no lemon drizzly drizzle, took one fine English SIS caffeine jel in return for a flat white. He’s lucky I accepted his heart in return for sitting in the wheels all the way round.

Es muy pequeño, pero la comida se prepara fresca a pedido y era encantadora. ¡Los huevos que desayuné sabían hermosos!

On arrival we found a large car park with plenty of spaces. Entrance through the door at the front into bar area. People sat eating by the door and it must’ve been annoying for them with everyone coming in and draughty. We arrived just before one. Ordered drinks at the bar and lunches. Sunday lunch was good sized portion. Beef a little on the chewy side. Vegetables good choice. Not a fan of the cabbage and cauliflower cheese bit bland. Needed cheese toasting on top. Saw someone eating pigs in blankets and they looked great. Desserts a bit on the expensive side. We all left feeling quite full. I would say that the service charge really annoyed me as it’s a pub that not a high end restaurant and I would’ve left a tip of my choice not what the pub decides. We’ve given this place a 4 but I think it’s more a 3.5/5 7/10. Friendly staff and they welcome dogs. The ones in there today were very well behaved
