What let's this place down is it's terrible unclean. I doubt it's been cleaned in a decade or more. I'm all for a place keeping a sense of history and feeling untouched but the floor really does need replacement as does the ceiling. And the walls which are coated in smoke, grease and cobwebs need a hell of a wash. There is ash everywhere from the fire and dust too.

Discovered the Northmore Arms courtesy of Google, and definitely my sort of pub. Very rustic and authentic, couldn’t be further away from the experience you’d find in a chain pub, and it’s all the better for it. Extremely friendly landlady, lovely fire and great atmosphere. Food was good and the beer equally so. Would come back in a heartbeat, indeed am already planning on how to find an excuse to visit and stay.

Absolutely everything a rural pub should be . Pubs like this are much more rare than they used to be. It is perfect. The host is a star. I know how difficult it is to run a pub, and I want to support the Northmore Arms so I'm giving it my highest recommendation. But selfishly, I hope it doesn't get too popular! (It's tiny). More importantly I hope Simone lives for many good long years, continues to run it so beautifully, and that they DON'T TRY TO "IMPROVE" IT AT ALL.

Returned after our last visit in October. My only regret is we left it too long. Well worth the drive from Torquay. A proper and totally unspoilt country pub, deep in the glorious Devon countryside. Small and cosy with two log fires, real ales and delicious food of generous portions. To take a paint brush to it would be legalised vandalism. The faggots again today from a local butcher with mash and lashings of onion gravy and veg. A rare gem of a pub!🇬🇧🇳🇿

Stayed here for 4 nights (August 23rd - August 27th 2023) & loved it! This is a real old Devon pub, untouched, untainted & unspoilt. There simply cannot be many places as charming or original as this, if at all - so friendly & welcoming too. The licensee, Simone, is the perfect host, complimented by her right hand man, Alan - together they work as a team to ensure your visit is enjoyable & certainly entertaining! In addition, meeting the various local people from Wonson & surrounding areas was a pleasure & a true taste of rural life, including the young bride & groom & guests who celebrated the momentous occasion of their wedding! So nice to witness the buzz & excitement of the moment, all within the pub on Friday night. My room was clean with the most comfortable double bed! ......with a beautiful view of the moors in the distance & the rising sun early in the morning. Familiar farmyard sounds accompanied the many birds singing nearby, nesting in the hedgerows & surrounding outbuildings. In the beautiful beer garden, swallows & house martins flew closely above in the last throes of Summer. Kareoke is another fun event not to be missed, usually held every other week on Friday.......personally I would visit just for that. The food is traditional & home cooked by Simone & the menu is varied from sea bass to lamb shank, bacon & sausage baps to cheese toasties & cheesy chips........absolutely delicious country cuisine ......her cheese topped new potato snacks should be on the menu! The full English breakfast is the best & to your choice. If you want The Ritz go to London.......if you want real life, a real living pub, with the pure atmosphere of real Devon, this is it!!! Thank you girls & guys & I hope to return soon! x

Fascinating old pub that feels as if it hasn’t changed for decades in deepest, quiet Devon. In an ancient building with huge open fires and interesting decoration. Very friendly service and no electronic noise (after we asked - there was no-one else for lunch). Terrific sea bass and chips and local ale - and there were many other menu options. Bill for the three of us came to a reasonable £55. On a slightly less positive note, some of our group thought the place needed a thorough clean, including the loos. But the member of the party charged with doing the review thought it was still worth a 4/5.

A gem of a pub. This is the total opposite of a Wetherspoons and if that's what you expect of a pub you are probably best staying away. Friendly landlord and landlady, original features and great sandwiches. The Jail Ale is recommended. Lovely to sit out in the garden without a load of screaming kids or people talking loudly on mobile phones. Lovely cat as well but under no circumstances try and stroke his tummy no matter how much he invites you to! I believe they do a lot of evening events but for me the peace and tranquility of a lunchtime half and a sandwich cannot be beaten.

First visit lovely quaint old world pub with lovely hosts. Sitting by the roaring fire on a cold day was a delight. Shame about the family occupying the fire side table and the mother who seemed oblivious to the dangers of her hyper daughters, one of which was a toddler(!) playing in front of the open fire who reacted very rudely when the landlady quite rightly asked her to take control of them . Anyway that didn’t spoil the experience, we will be back.

There was a warm welcome from the staff and we sat at a table next to a lovely open log fire. This is a very old fashioned pub which is part of its charm. Like something out of the 50’s or before. The food (sausages and chips, and gammon, egg and chips) was tasty, filling and good value, and it was washed down nicely by a pint from the barrel of Dartmoor Ale behind the bar. This is quite a querky place. If you want a sanitised, corporate chain or gastro pub this is not for you. But if you want a wonderful, special, not your normal pub experience, I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Last time visited “ small Americana “ was 1.95. Then 2.10. Today……2.60. No reason despite costs…..to elevate to this price… There are unfortunately not a lot of “ good coffee shops in Dursley” could do with “Costa” or Coffee1 “ Wake up call……for these stupid prices…..if you want to “ stay open” I’d review all your prices/ ….or you soon will be “ gone” No one wants to fell “ conned” last visit for me!!

On arrival we found a large car park with plenty of spaces. Entrance through the door at the front into bar area. People sat eating by the door and it must’ve been annoying for them with everyone coming in and draughty. We arrived just before one. Ordered drinks at the bar and lunches. Sunday lunch was good sized portion. Beef a little on the chewy side. Vegetables good choice. Not a fan of the cabbage and cauliflower cheese bit bland. Needed cheese toasting on top. Saw someone eating pigs in blankets and they looked great. Desserts a bit on the expensive side. We all left feeling quite full. I would say that the service charge really annoyed me as it’s a pub that not a high end restaurant and I would’ve left a tip of my choice not what the pub decides. We’ve given this place a 4 but I think it’s more a 3.5/5 7/10. Friendly staff and they welcome dogs. The ones in there today were very well behaved

Stayed at the Frocester George and ate in the dining room whilst walking the Cotswolds way. My room was lovely- room 12, relatively recently done I think with everything you could want. Spacious room, organic tea and coffee, small fridge with fresh milk in it (yay!!!!) lovely bathroom. The meal was delicious, and the breakfast great, including a wonderful selection of fresh fruit. Would happily return for another stay if I am in the area.
