Well all I can say is avoid the scones, they are dry and horrible

We ate whilst decoration our ceramics a great place for an entaining lunch

I was absolutely blown away by the lunch here today. We didn't go with expectations, I just had a quick Google as to where to go for lunch before our journey home. The presentation was excellent and the flavour combination was devine. Great value for money too. The indoor shop was worth a browse. I would definitely recommend to go here if you're visiting Totnes.

Deceptive from the front of the building. I was pleasantly surprised at the space and food selection. A must visit, great atmosphere and feeling. The outside area is well spaced out, and shaded areas too.

China Blue has always been a great place to visit and it does add to the enjoyment knowing you have a cafe in the same building plus they now deliver to your table as you paint. However, the increase in costs of both the painting and the food is utterly unacceptable. I paid £7.50 for a brekky roll which consisted of a muffin with two sausages in it and literally half a teaspoon of fried onion ( I think). No butter nothing else! The actual cost would be less than £1 for the ingredients. I do think you should reconsider the costing of a muffin with two sausages in it! A positive is the cafe is clean and today and the staff are very polite and helpful but I certainly don’t think we will need back having spent over £200 to paint and eat for 2 adults and 2 children.

This is our second time here and it was as good as the first visit. Lovely calming surroundings, bright and plenty of tables and chairs to choose from, the outdoor space is lovely too, with potted plants and covered seating. The food was well presented and tasty, the food is a little pricey, but you pay for good quantity food and nothings cheap these days. I will definitely visit again.

Tasty coffees and Prosecco. The white chocolate blondie was to die for! Absolutely delicious and great service - we will be back.

A Regular Customer To Shop & Restaurant,Which I Love, 2 Weeks Ago Very Disappointed ., Ordered The Health Salad , On Menu Did Not State Contents , Appalling, Mostly Cold Pasta Cold Browned Small Roast Potatoes Thrown On & A Few Green Bits. , I Paid Extra For Some Crab. After eating The Crab, I Took It Back To Tell The Waitress, This Was Expectable, Her Response , Not “ I’m To Sorry But You Only Get The Salad On Show “ I Stated , It does Not State That On The Menu.. No Response ! As a Trained Chef & Nutritionist, The Only Good Thing Was The Crab I Paid Extra For. As A Frequent Visitor To London , On That Day The Charge For Soup Was £8 , London Prices ! Unbelievable., As I Know More Profit Is Made On Soup Than Any Course .Certainly The Quality Of Food Is Not As it Was When They Took Over , Being New It Was Excellent & So Were The Staff Now Some Not Dressed Appropriately. The New Renovations &Patio Are Beautiful, But Shockingly They Have Now FORCED US LADIES , CHILDREN To Be Subjected To MEN Using What Was Once The “ LADIES” .Only A Small Area , It’s Outrageous We Women , Have To Endure Such A Violation Of OUR RIGHTS ,Privacy & DECENCY . Also It’s NOT Safe NOW For Any Parent To Send A GIRL on Her Own , With Men Walking In , It’s Clearly Intimidating To Any Child. Women Today Are Constantly Being Abused & Our Rights Violated . WHO On Earth Decided, MEN SHOULD USE OUR TOILETS , When Men Had Their Own Before The Renovations. Totally Unacceptable!! . I’m Surprised At The Owners as China Blue , Which Has Always Been A Lovely Place To Visit . I DO NOT WANT A MAN STANDING BY ME in SUCH A Confined Space , “ GOD KNOWS WHO HE IS !!!!!!

Fantastic cooked breakfast with delicious sourdough bread. Just the right amount and everything cooked to perfection. Lovely coffee too. We sat outside at the back in the lovely decking area which is very nicely decorated with potted plants, giving it a lovely atmosphere.

I’ve been here a few times since the new menu has been launched and it is honestly amazing ! The best brunch in the south west hands down ! So many options that taste amazing and such a cool vibe ! Can’t wait to come back and try more !

Very good for breakfast or lunch in Totnes. Food is good quality and tasty with good options for vegans. Good service and restaurant is spacious and clean. And you can park even when Totnes car parks are completely full

We visited for lunch as we hadn't been here for several years. We sat at a table, there were no menus to be seen, so I asked a lady on the next table where she had found hers! She replied that there only appeared to be one menu for the whole area, which she had found and kindly let us have. We made our choice of food, and as there was no staff around, I stood at the bar for a couple of minutes, and no one appeared. I went into the shop and found a cleaner!!! When I asked her how we ordered food, she kindly took us around the corner to a large counter area and more seating! There was a large pile of menus in this area!! We ordered, and the waitress was charming and polite. The food came out, served on cold plates, and was only just warm. In all a very disappointing visit. We weren't the only ones struggling with how the system worked and saw another couple come in and walk out! There needs to be signage advising customers where the till area and ordering point is!

We went there for a breakfast and it wasn't a traditional breakfast and had a few tweeks on what you would normally expect, I didn't think the oyster mushroom worked that well as was quite chewy and would've been better if cut smaller, the sourdough, tots and sourdough were nice but wasn't a fan of the streaky bacon that much. The the price I probably wouldn't rush back but there were a lot of great looking cakes and bakes that I wouldn't mind trying and the coffee was nice. Service was polite and efficient.

This is our wet weather day out but it can be enjoyed whatever the weather great food and lots to paint

A good stop for a healthy lunch, afternoon tea, or coffee and a cake. I had a mushroom, feta and onion tart with a butternut squash, potato and pecan salad. They have a selection of scones, cakes and tray bakes. The biscof rocky road was wonderful (a bit thick, so remember to pick up a knife to cut it up!) But it tasted lush. Some can be a bit on the large size and incredibly sweet, so would be best to share. There is free parking here, customer toilets and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. There is currently a festive menu with a great alternative choice from the average cafe .. the cranberry cheesecake french toast was a lovely sweet choice and the piggy smash burger and stacked turkey sandwich sound very interesting.

The cafe was very quiet but the tables were mostly covered in dirty plates etc from other customers. Waited quite a while for someone to clear the mess away from our table. None of the tables were wiped so we moved because ours had avocado smeared all over it. After we had been there about 20 minutes someone finally turned up with a cloth so I called them over to clean up. Sofa seat was split with sponge filling falling out. Not nice.

Very busy, a very Christmassy feel with the decorations, seasonal goods and atmosphere.

In my view this cafe serves the best coffee in Totnes. I can park, and bring my dog with me. Good Value

All round a nice place to go but, the menu could do with a few more classics to take it to the next level.we both went for the French toast with cashew butter and compote. The French toast itself was done very well, but the bitterness of the compote was not particularly well set-off by the cashew butter. I think something sweet or simply adding a classic option such as banana and maple would be beneficial. The pain au chocolat were OK, but clearly not made that day as they didn’t have that crunch.

The lunch was lovely, but christ the staff are rude & disinterested... If staff can't be bothered with common curtsey, it says everything about the culture. 😳 Never going back. Vote with ya feet people 👌

Visited for brunch . At the point of ordering was told they were short of staff so the food might be a little delayed . No problem for us as we were not in a rush . The coffee was brought to us quickly and to be fair the food did follow in good time . I'm not sure why the mushrooms are even mentioned as part of the menu as both of our breakfast had literally two stalks on , not even worth calling mushrooms. Also I was surprised that the eggs, mushroom stalks and sausage were served right on top of the sourdough toast. Therefore if you wanted to eat the toast separately with some butter that was not an option . All in all we enjoyed it but I've had quality " freshly sourced locally produce" breakfasts which you could taste the difference if that makes sense so at £14 per plate I do feel was slightly overpriced .

We pulled into the cafe’s carpark for breakfast on our way from Exeter to Hope Cove. My wife ordered the smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel. A few bites into her bagel she said, ‘this could very well be the most tasty thing I’ve eaten since I’ve been in the UK.’ … and make no mistake about it, we have had some wonderful food these past few weeks. I ordered the Eggs Benny with Streaky bacon and yes, I had to agree with my wife.. the food here is well prepared and quite delicious. Our coffees were also first class. They get things right here. We had a Wild Thyme at the Wild Thyme Cafe.

The food was ok, but the tedious wait for service was very annoying. There were 3 or 4 staff behind the counter at any one time but only one of them seemed to be able to do the job properly. One young person just stood around clutching a menu and getting in the way of his colleagues. I was told that they did not have enough staff to bring our drinks to the table and would have to hang around the counter for even longer. So did not bother with drinks in the end. The table next to us were served drinks and food, and a full five minutes later someone actually managed to bring some cutlery out so they could then eat their luke warm food. Unless you are very patient and don't mind being ignored, not served and forgotten, it would be best avoided.

This cafe changed its menu a week ago. 2 weeks ago, this would have been a 4/5 star review for brunch; it was great! What we experienced today was mediocre; flaccid streaky bacon full of fat, an anaemic sausage, some strange potatoey things etc. and so overpriced at £14. Whereas before, we have returned, I wouldn't go back again. The only saving grace was a good coffee. Please revert to your last menu, 1000 times better than today.

Great spot for some delicious breakfast! Opt for the smoked salmon poached eggs. They were delicious! Need to order at the counter - make sure you know what your table number is before ordering.

Lovely brunch at Wild Thyme! Nice to be able to mooch around the shops afterwards and spacious parking out front. The food was great. But a little expensive for what it was to be honest - £14 for a veggie breakfast is very steep and I'd expect to be very impressed for that amount of money. The cakes were absolutely incredible, and they were huge!

Lovely spot for a morning snack. Very good coffees that were full of flavour. Cheese scone much better than most with cheese flavour coming through, light but not too crumbly. Good ambiance.

It was nice atmosphere and I liked the variety of objects to choose and paint. I go every time I’m in Devon. The items will be posted to me and I’ll look forward to that .

Had a lovely evening doing Paint and Dine at China Blue. The food was delicious, nicely presented and thoroughly enjoyed by all of us.

We heard great things about the food but we were bitterly disappointed. I will say the freshly squeezed orange juice was good. I genuinely think the food would have been better if the use of sourdough was limited. We love sourdough but it is overused...

The cakes are often dry and heavy, especially the scones. Nice atmosphere, but very hot if sitting inside. Afternoon tea very disappointing, dry cakes, no patisserie & strange sandwich choice

We enjoyed our coffee and tea but looking at the menu, we thought the food was very expensive compared with similar places we go to. The metal seat’s definitely require cushions, hard and cold!!

As a returning customer we had great service, scrumptious breakfast and an all round good meal. The vibe is always really chill and the setting funky and alternative particularly in the garden. Love it on our mini break to Brixham.

Usually here for lunch but tried the breakfast today. Big mistake! Hash browns to break your teeth on, tasteless and dry.Leather like mushrooms, dry beans. The Avocado was good as were the poached eggs, All in all an expensive breakfast that didn’t deliver.

20 of us from our local WI had afternoon tea here at Wild Thyme cafe at China Blue. Tea was excellent - delicious sandwiches and cakes for some - others chose scones and jam and cream and some of us had Prosecco as well! Highly recommended. Nice friendly staff too.

They are always friendly and the cakes are amazing, they always have a gluten free or vegan cake on offer and not just a brownie.

So much to see. Lovely and unusual goods. In store do it yourself pottery painting too. Cafe so relaxing, bright, clean and loads of nice things to eat. Toilets clean and fresh. We'll worth a visit
