Great coffee and friendly staff

Coffees are tiny but still same price as you’d pay elsewhere for a much larger one. Girl on till seemed disinterested and didn’t listen to my order fully so got given drinks in china cups even though I asked for take away. Barista was nice enough.

Food is good, staff is kind. No cash payment what is bad! And a disgusting toilet! Jeez, I haven't seen a dirty, filthy toilet like this for long time and for extra it is broken, too!

Only place open for coffee at 430 pm on a Saturday that we like here in Totnes (apart from pubs obviously), lovely staff here. Food is always nice but we didn't eat...it was quiet, great cos my step mum and I could chat.

The pasties and pastries have consistently been high quality at this place. So has the coffee, in my opinion.

Have been coming here for years and the coffee is 10/10 but for some reason over the past few weeks/months the cake selections have been over cooked to the point where some even look black. We have raised this subtly a few times to no avail. It doesn’t happen in their other outlets just the Totnes one. Please guys sort this out, we get fed up asking for a cake that isn’t over baked. Staff by the way are excellent!

Great Bakery with friendly, knowledgeable staff and amazing coffee!

Really great bakery, best spot for a decent coffee and croissant in the morning. Service always friendly and helpful and very clean. Would especially recommend the Italian hot chocolate for a treat!

Must start off by saying that we love TCB - so much so we get their pasties delivered to us in bulk 200 miles away at home in the Peak District. We also stopped off at a different branch the day before and I'm afraid to say that I found the pasties better in that location, with the ones from the day before much better. Odd, as I always presumed that they were centrally produced, distributed and then reheated/baked in store.

Been here twice, pleasant experience both times. Card-only, and customer toilet. Can be tricky to find a table if you arrive at a busy time around lunch. Food was lovely, although I did find the cheese straw wasn't very substantial, which I probably should have guessed before I bought it, but munched through in just a few bites. The raspberry croissant brioche doughnut thing was delightful.

I.ve walked by this place a hundred times and never been in because I often go to the top of the town and get something but yesterday I decided to get breakfast. Now, I'm not a huge fan of chocolate (scandalous!) but do sometimes fancy a pain aux chocolate with my coffee and saw that they have a "chocolate torsade" or chocolate twist and being a person of adventure, thought I'd try one. Oh my word! I'm glad I did. It was divine! Not too much pastry, just the right amount of chocolaty goodness for it not to be sickly sweet. I went back to say how great it was and they told me a little about it... "The chocolate torsades are made in France. They then ship them over, proof them and bake them in the shop each morning." If you're pottering around Totnes and stumble across the Cornish Bakery, you absolutely must get a chocolate torsade. You wont regret it!

I had the chicken masala pasty, I found that they were sparse with the filling, and after finishing, I found that I left still feeling rather hungry. I don't think the size of the pasty reflects the price very well of what used to be an 'affordable meal'. However, they do taste delicious, and the bakers know how to make good food!

Me and my partner came in for steak & Stilton pasty’s. Very empty of filling and the tasted vile. We were charged almost £19 for 2 pasties & 2 coffees which was shocking reflecting on the taste & quantity. Came away and was poorly after eating this. Food was not brought to the table when the cafe was empty. Almost every table wasn’t cleared. Will not be coming back.

We are on a holiday so we went into the bakery for lunch. The selection was great nice coffee. The only thing I was upset about was the lady in front of us. She was very rude to the staff behind the counter. The shop was full and she was saying how slow they were. They were doing a great job considering it was full.

Nice food. Friendly staff. However they do NOT accept cash therefore will not be going back.

Great place lovely pasties and turnovers

Loyal customers, we were surprised by the service at the Cornish Bakery in Totnes and wanted to share it with you... it was 9.30 and there was no one there when we ordered and prepared this Thursday morning. We had to enjoy our breakfast right at the table as shown in the photo and the next customer was also treated in 'Take away' mode even though he too sat down at one of the tables!! We were therefore very surprised by the drop in the level of this restaurant ...and especially if there had been a mistake or misunderstanding because we are French, why didn't the team come back to us and offer us plates...at least! Other experiences since have given us complete satisfaction with the quality as well as the service of other C Bakery Good luck to everyone for the continuation of this summer 2023

The cherry croissants are absolutely excellent. So good in fact I went to the back of the shop and complimented the baker. I am a massive fan of croissants and these were up there with the best

Popped in for coffee at around 9.30am on Saturday and was surprised to see how many uncleared tables there were. Also was slightly disappointed at the relatively small cup of coffee for £3, given what some other cafes can currently offer.

One star for the friendly staff, and one for a nice cup of coffee. As for everything else, well it's a bit of a let down to be honest. When we arrived, we couldn't see through the windows for all the condensation running down them, the air inside being very humid. The place is generally scruffy and soul-less, our table propped up on a dirty screwed up napkin, and the adjacent door mat not having seen a decent clean for days ( no way that much dirt accumulates in a couple of hours on a Sunday morning). They don't take cash either. Won't be returning.

Lovely friendly staff great atmospher

Excellent pasties and coffee as per usual. The whole team were so inviting and friendly, and made us feel so welcome. We stopped in for a croissant and when the Head Barista Jared told us about their coffee from Union, we had to try it. Perfect flat white. Will definitely be back again soon.

Ok food but doesn’t need to add for eating in, also they didn’t notify us that the pasties were ready when we had been waiting for 15 minutes after the staff told us — then they sold out without us getting what we wanted.

The Cornish Bakery is always where we go when shopping in Totnes. I'm very fussy about my coffee and the lovely staff in there always accommodate! All the food we have is lovely but the star of the show is absolutely the Cornish pudding!!! I urge everyone to take some home if you can, it's our guilty pleasure with a coffee in front of the t.v

Popped in for a quick takeaway coffee, barista was friendly and made the drinks quickly. Also (mutually agreed with by the other two people I got coffee with) the most delicious coffee we’ve ever tasted. Was great, highly recommend! This is one star because it is unbearably hot in here. There is no air conditioning and the day we visited must have been over 40 degrees inside. We had a take away but felt so sorry for the staff having to work in these conditions… the manager needs to sort it out and look after staff better.

To be honest I felt it was a bit overpriced. We bought a pasty, sandwich and cinnamon bun which came to over £12. The sandwich was nothing special, neither was the bun. The pasty was nice but not amazing and didn’t have a lot of steak in it. So to be honest I felt a bit disappointed as everything looked amazing in the window, just didn’t taste as good as it looked.

Wonderful bakery with delicious pasties and turnovers. My children cleared their plates and requested some to takeaway for lunch. Will definitely return when I am next in Totnes.

The food was rather decent, albeit a bit overpriced for the quality. Though the experienced was ruined by terrible customer service- there was an extremely rude bearded redhead. Not polite and not at all engaged- made us feel like a bother.

This is the second time I've eaten here and will definitely be back when I'm Totnes next. We had the spicy cauliflower pasty and a vegetable pasty ( both vegan) and they taste so good! Whilst in holiday with my daughter and her husband we decided to visit Totness and what a lovely place it was but the best bit was The cornish bakery. We bought the traditional cornish pastie and can honestly say it was the best pastie we have ever had and believe you me we have had hundreds. They were hot and fresh with the perfect amount of veg and meat. If your in the area this is a must place to buy a pastie. Perfection in a pastie. The staff were super friendly too. Thank you.

Absolutely gorgeous vegetarian pasties … the best I have ever tasted .. full of flavour

Staff got the order wrong and I was overcharged. Gave takeaway cups even when we requested we eat in. Offered various toppings to my drink, was charged and didn't receive them. Staff were more concerned with talking and gossiping than looking after customers. Unpleasant experience and I wouldn't return.

We visited Totnes on Tuesday, 28th September for lunch. Food was delicious and hot. Cream Tea lovely. The shop was clean, comfortable and well laid out. The staff were lovely and I have to give a mention to Maisie, what a lovely girl and credit to the Cornish Bakery. Hope to visit again when we are next down there. Definitely recommend.
