The food is quite ok, not the greatest dining experience! The dessert was not good (chocolate soup). The highlight was probably the bread that you got before the starter

Staff who lack politeness and interpersonal skills. Impossible for them to say goodbye… Attitude to be seen again. The jackets from the locker room lying on the floor… The staff seemed more concerned with timing than customer enjoyment. It felt like we were in a race against time... To top it all off, some dishes were simply not served which added to our frustration. As for the food, I was expecting a New Year's Eve meal, but the reality was quite different. The dishes lacked flavor and did not reflect the special occasion. It was far from living up to my expectations, especially for a Michelin-starred restaurant…. Barely at the level of a gastro… In summary, if you are looking for a place to spend a pleasant evening, I recommend that you avoid this restaurant. It's best to find another place where you can really enjoy a good meal without pressure and with respectful service.

We came for the New Year, what a disappointment! We are seated at the bar, 2 minutes later we are already moved to a corner. As soon as we start the champagne, we are told that we must quickly sit down at the table because it is only reserved for 2 hours. The “sommelier” jumps on us when we haven’t even ordered our dishes, he rushes us to order bottles ranging from 3000 to 12000 euros….. the meal is not worth the Michelin star, we pay for a special New Year's menu which is available all year round for less (the "special" dessert for my husband, a scoop of ice cream worthy of flunch!!) We hurry to eat everything, arriving at dessert (which has not yet been served because it was forgotten for 45 minutes), we are invited to go to the bar to finish our dishes, shameful! Each dish is placed and not even explained, we don't know what we were eating. Not to mention that we left without a goodbye, almost kicked out. My husband's jacket was lost, in the end, my husband had to go find his jacket himself which was just ruined on the floor. Everything was a disaster! The deplorable service, bordering on insulting. We are deeply saddened to have spent a New Year's evening in such a place with such a welcome. No consideration for the customer, it feels like a McDonald’s given the sequence of “services”. Deplorable!!

A disappointing experience despite the prestige We had high expectations coming to this Michelin-starred restaurant, but the service completely ruined our experience. As soon as we arrived, the welcome was frosty, and the staff were condescending throughout the meal. The delays between dishes were endless, and despite our reminders, we had the impression of being ignored. No effort was made to correct the errors (a dish served cold, a poorly recommended wine). When you pay such a price for a gastronomic experience, you expect impeccable service. Here we felt like we were treated like a nuisance rather than guests. Unacceptable for an establishment of this standard.

I really wanted to like a trip to this restaurant. Lets start on the positives. The bar on entry is lovely and the staff were great and friendly. The cocktails were gorgeous too. The restaurant is wonderful and again the staff super attentive without being intrusive. So why 3 stars? The food just was not that tasty. The beef dish and the custard desert were nice, but various other items were lacking. When almost untouched plates were returned the staff didnt ask why. If they had i think would have just said i dont like the taste so not sure they could have done anything. Either way im glad i went but wont be rushing back.

Wild Honey offers a three course set lunch called the ‘working lunch’ at £59 that includes a glass of champagne and coffee with a canelé, with a choice from two options per course. Assuming that one of each option appeals, which it did to the three of us, then this represents excellent value. We found every element of the meal to be faultless; food, service, pace of delivery all perfect. I recommend it wholeheartedly and we will look no further when returning to the area.

I know Michelin stars can create a lot of expectations and pressure for the team at the restaurant. So let me start with this: is the food nice? Yes. But is it worth the price? My personal opinion is you can have a better dining experience with a lower price. We all went for the 3-course a la carte menu at £95 per person + 15% service. We were early enough to choose the £45 Early Supper menu (also 3 course, albeit fewer choices. Offered between 17h and 18h30). If the quality of food was the same for the Early Supper Menu, then £45 is probably worth it. The quality of food was mixed. Some dishes were nice such as the venison (not quite amazing level, compared to other fine dining restaurants), some were disappointing, especially the beef. My friend remarked that Flat Iron’s even better. Many dishes were simply unremarkable. I remember someone once told me that you can tell if a restaurant is good based on their bread, and their sourdough was certainly unremarkable. Their signature dish is their Custard tart, which was nice. But I think the fact that it was branded as a signature meant that I had high expectations which led me being ultimately a bit disappointed. Speed of service was good. It was interesting how the chef came in and out of the restaurant multiple (an excessive amount of) times, and he doesn’t engage with any of their patrons. There doesn’t seem to be a massive feedback culture at the restaurant. Had I been asked my thoughts on the dishes (chef or waiter), I would’ve mentioned that I was curious why the chawanmushi was served cold when the eel was warm. Occasionally, it took the servers a while to refill our glasses for tap water. But they were still broadly attentive. The coordination also seems like there could be improvements: one server already came and confirmed allergies of guests as listed in our reservation online, and another server came later and asked if we have any allergies afterwards. There just wasn’t many nice touches unlike other Michelin restaurants. There was no petit fours. I was at another 1 star restaurant last week and at the end, I was given a copy of the menu. None of that happened here. Was it a good dining experience: sure. But I think I struggle to justify both the price and the Michelin accolade.

Had lunch here with a friendly business acquaintance. We spurned the opportunity to take the business set menu which was very reasonably priced, and went à la carte. I had the smoked eel which was delicious, followed by the monk fish which was excellent. We drank an Austrian wine by the glass. The service was friendly but not pretentious, and the restaurant is airy and light. Little touches were good, such as a plate of amusebouches before and petits fours afterwards. The desserts were inspiring (I had the wild honey). But the most negative aspect was the price which came to over £300 for two. Of course if we had had the set menu this would’ve been about half the price but for lunch I would say this is overpriced . Still a useful place to know about with a Michelin star near to the theatre area and the National Gallery. When the bill came, we had been charged for an extra glass of Chablis that we didn’t take.

Nice menu but beware when ordering the charcuterie meats! There’s a lot on the one plate! Wish there was more snacks but otherwise pretty standard but good meal Edit from original review 2 years ago and increased from 4 to 5 stars: came back since it got its Michelin star and I can say the food, presentation and service has drastically increased in quality. You can see in the latest pics the dishes are way more intricate and flavourful. Enjoyed every course although a little bit cheeky we asked for tea and coffee and they upgraded it to add the petit fours for £18 without our consent. They were all too sweet tbh and we wouldn’t have chosen it but we had a lovely time so didn’t complain and left it.

We booked to come to Wild Honey St James as a last minute reservation having extended our stay in London by a night. We booked it the night before which in itself was a surprise as trying to book a Michelin star restaurant on a Friday night with no notice seemed a bit far fetched but there was availability so we booked. We had the 3 course tasting menu that gave us approximately 4 choices for starter, main and dessert with complimentary champagne and the usual extras one would expect in a Michelin restaurant. The food was beautiful and plentiful after 3 courses we nearly had to be rolled out! We didn’t have a wine flight as I am pregnant but the staff were so attentive and made sure things were slightly adapted as a result. We have been to many Michelin star restaurants and this felt like the most relaxed with a wonderful atmosphere and background music that added to the ‘buzz’. It was a perfect casual Michelin experience which was exactly what we were looking for and for £95pp for a 3 course it was exceptional value for money. The staff were wonderful and attentive but not overbearing, and we honestly have nothing bad to say about our experience. We both came away feeling like we stumbled on this gem and would recommend to anyone.

Obviously as it is in St James, has a Michelin star and is expensive it should be excellent, but often places like this are pretentious and not as good as they think they are. We booked dinner at Wild Honey recently as part of my wife’s birthday weekend. The restaurant is very conveniently placed, a few minutes from Piccadilly Circus. It is part of Sofitel London St James hotel, although can be entered separately. The staff and atmosphere were both very friendly but informal. The menu is based on a fixed price for three courses. There were the usual choices on the menu, all beautifully executed. The dishes were just the right size to enjoy three courses without feeling uncomfortably full. The service was exceptionally fast - unusually so for a Michelin star restaurant. Despite being a Saturday, they did seem quiet. Although they did cater for a gluten free diet, I was slightly disappointed that only one or two options were suitable for each course. The wine choice was good & reasonably priced. We were also offered a complimentary extra desert for my wife’s birthday, which was a nice touch.

1. Three people took turns taking the first drink order, but the signatures weren't correct and the carbonated water I initially ordered didn't even come out. When I looked at the bill later, it was included in the price, which was very absurd. 2. I made a reservation a few days ago, but something came up during the meal, so I asked to be moved, but the flow of the meal was interrupted, and I wondered if this was basic restaurant manners. 3. I ordered a half bottle of white wine and my glass was empty, but none of the staff knew or cared. I sat there for a while and asked to fill it up, and only then did they give it to me. I thought it would be really easy to pay my own money and eat properly. 4. The food was delicious, the wine and cocktails went well together, and the staff were very friendly and nice. However, the price of drinks that were not served even when I ordered them was included, and I was quite disappointed, perhaps because I had high expectations, but I wonder if a Michelin-starred restaurant can only be of this standard. no see.

We were visiting London, and as we like to do when we travel, we decided to try a Michelin star restaurant. There were four of us, and two people at our table were vegetarian. The restaurant offers vegetarian options (one per category), but the “main” option was disappointing to say the least. Having been to these kinds of restaurants many times before, we realize that quantity is not the objective. But to charge £95 for a small appetizer, and then two spears of asparagus with a few mushrooms as the main course, is unreasonable. At this price, every morsel better be sumptuous, and it was not. Both the vegetarians described the main course as “fine”, which is certainly not what one would expect at a Michelin star restaurant. We have been to many restaurants worldwide that offer exceptional vegetarian meals, but sadly this was a miss for us. And an expensive one at that with a bill more than £600 for four (including 4 cocktails and a bottle of relatively inexpensive wine). I will say that the appetizer, which was also vegetarian, was delicious. They flew in tomatoes from Italy and you could taste the difference. The tomatoes were juicy and sweet and popped in your mouth. Combined with a creamy ricotta and a delightful tomato broth, the dish was subtle and perfectly balanced. The other two people at our table were pescatarians, and chose the fish option, which was much more reasonable in both quantity and flavour. I would describe the main dish as very good, but not something I’ll be thinking about for years. Maybe that’s an unreasonable standard, but that’s what I’d be hoping for at a restaurant like this. We have returned to Michelin star restaurants in the past with anticipation. I wouldn’t come back to this one. Unfortunately, nothing was memorable for us.

Brown butter not sure.., the surface was very dark, I couldn’t taste butter and it’s was intensely flavoured. To me there was a flavour of soy sauce (this could be incorrect) but if not it was as similar. I can still taste it. Importantly the fish could have been tofu.. the sauce was so intense it overwhelmed the delicate flavour of my favourite fish. CH

I think I may have fallen in love with their wine list. Unlike many high-end restaurants, they don't hand you a 100kg wine list so extensive that you feel overwhelmed. Instead, you get a wide yet not overwhelming selection of carefully curated wines. Thank you for a lovely evening!

We've been to Wild Honey several times over the years - in its former location and since it re-opened in the Sofitel; this was our third visit there and it did not disappoint. The three-course fixed price menu with enough choices for each course suits us fine, as we have gone off lengthy tasting menus elsewhere where the trend seems to be more and more courses and ever increasing prices. The Lady Orthopod started with beautifully presented and cooked asparagus and I opted for the smoked eel as I always do when I see it on a menu - delicious. We followed with lamb (TLO) and duck (me) - both precisely cooked and prettily presented. Now the TLO doesn't eat puds so we shared a plate of cheese and I opted for the custard tart which was every bit as nice as I had hoped. When ordering the tart I said that I had noticed rhubarb as another pudding option and wondered if I might just have a little taste of same alongside my tart. Nothing doing - our lovely waiter Lucas (if I remember correctly) brought me the said rhubarb pud in full, with a cheery 'enjoy'! Two puds were me! As well as eschewing the tasting menu approach (and well done for that!), WH serves decent portions given that it has a Michelin Star which you kind of worry leads to smallish plates of primped about loveliness. Here, however, the food was great and the portions decent - we couldn't fault our meal. We drank a couple of glasses of white Burgundy to start and a reasonably priced Beaujolais to follow. We had a lovely time and you can pay a LOT more than this for a starred meal in Central London. Can't wait to go back and try the newly-opened Bistro.

Enjoyed this place. Service was really good and the food was very good. The portions were a decent size considering that it's a Michelin star place. The only thing to question was the only choice of a set menu rather than an a la carte offering. But that's a small gripe considering that everything else was great. Overall I would recommend going here. Top place.

Had a lovely birthday meal yesterday and was waited on by Loange (sp?) who was absolutely lovely! Very attentive, efficient service - and the whole team made sure we made it to our show on time. The food was fantastic, well-presented, and introduced some flavour combinations that we hadn't tried before. I highly recommend it as a pre-theatre meal.

We had the set lunch and I could not fault the food at all. The starter of chicken was perfection followed by moist pork and a delicious tart with not a soggy bottom in sight. Service was attentive and it’s a beautiful location to eat in. But…charging £6 for a bottle of tepid soda stream water is criminal and it’s the first restaurant ever to add a 15% service charge. Stick with tap water!

I was disappointed by this restaurant which is a shame really. The decor is great and the table comfortable with a good ambiance. Some of our courses were excellent such as the Denbighshire lamb and the monkfish. I thoroughly enjoyed my English custard tart with a nice hint of nutmeg but the rhubarb pavlova was poor with little rhubarb flavour. The Dorset crab starter was bizarre and far too large. The salad of white meat was delicious, the toasted brioche sandwich of the brown meat tasty but enormous and the custard of the bisque very rich and, again, too much. A large starter on three separate dishes is intimidating and a small sandwich and a quenelle of custard on the salad plate would better suit. I didn’t like that the fixed price menu (£95) is not a balanced tasting menu because after the large rich crab starter I would have happily passed on a dessert- but of course it’s paid for! The service was friendly and pretty efficient but let down by serving occasionally leaning across our round table rather than walking around. It’s lazy and poor practice. We had a cheapish bottle of red wine (which was actually excellent for my palate) and a carafe of white but apparently it’s only expensive wine that deserves a decent fine glass! More attention to detail needed here to justify the Michelin star and the high prices in my opinion and I doubt I will return.

Wanted to enjoy it but TBH for a Michelin starred restaurant the reception is low rent, and whilst some of the food was good the sirloin (came with a supplement) had a vein of connective tissue running through it that rendered half inedible. It happens but no consideration was given by the service staff to make good.

We visited from Edinburgh to celebrate my birthday and we had such an incredible time. We both work in the industry so it was nice to be on the other side for a change. The service was excellent, all the staff were incredibly attentive, friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. They made my day really special (shout out to Joao). The food was beautiful, we thoroughly enjoyed every course. The chef introduced himself to us and presented our snacks at the table which added to the experience and made it more personal. The cocktails also deserve a mention, they were fantastic! We cannot wait to visit again, thank you again to all the staff.

Wild Honey serves up an unforgettable dining experience with food that easily ranks within the top 3 meals I've had in London, scoring an 11/10. From the appetizers to the desserts, each dish is crafted with care, making each meal truly special. However, the atmosphere could use a touch-up, as it feels more like a hotel breakfast room than the Michelin restaurant quality it embodies with its cuisine.

We stopped in for a spontaneous lunch during a sudden downpour and they accommodated us and our wet coats. Vicky was a pleasure and made my birthday special. The food and drinks were top notch.

Perhaps I’m being picky, but I did not think that the whole meal was excellent. We had crab, the white meat salad was lovely, but the brioche sandwich of brown meat and accompanying custard of the bisque made the starter a bit heavy, even though it was all very tasty. The mains of Monkfish, and Lamb were as I would expect from a Michelin starred restaurant. The pudding that we had, Yorkshire rhubarb and pavlova, was poor. Dehydrated rhubarb is not my idea of fun: nothing can beat lightly poached pink rhubarb. The service was reasonable but could have been better; ie not leaning over a guest to serve another. The ambience of the restaurant was really good, but a restaurant like this should be better.

Oh dear, oh dear. I absolutely love nearly every restaurant I visit, and almost always give five stars. What happened? I booked WH at a day's notice for a really important and meaningful personal meeting. Went with my gut because the original Wild Honey in Mayfair was just so good! I should have known from the fact it's moved to a hotel, the totally open availability, the inflexible and slightly odd £95 menu and the £25 no-show charge (a crooked practice in my view) that this was one to avoid. My bad. We met in the bar. The service, the nuts and the cocktails were really good. At £18 a pop, they'd better be. Into the chamber of doom.. the huge dark room with no atmosphere where the guy on the desk ignores you, with the weirdest 80s music. Ushered to a smallish table rather close to others around the edge of the cavern. The crab starter was a bit strange. The "bisque" was more of a pate, cold, straight from the fridge and solid with a layer of fat on top. Was it supposed to have been warmed up and made liquid? Then you twig that all the dishes are pre-made and assembled to order from pre-prepared units, no skill required on the night, no manual decoration, and certainly no sign of the chef. My main course of venison was decent. My best man's rabbit was one of the strangest looking dishes I've seen in years.. a "slug" of vegetable matter in the centre with two cold wee roulades of the real meat. He said his food was so salty it was barely edible. The wine wasn't bad, although it's hard to find a decent bottle under £100. Dessert wasn't a real pavlova and wasn't in any way memorable. Final insult.. the bill for a basic meal came to nearly £450. That is absolutely horrific. You get FIVE star service for that! We had lackadaisical waiters and it was slightly too hard to catch an eye, pay the bill and escape. Final final insult.. I had an email from the manager a day later, except it was a mail merge with my name stuck in mismatched format, saying "here's an easy booking link for next time". I replied to say, well, thank you but the meal wasn't great. No answer! The best restaurants in London are very particular about personal service. This place.. couldn't care less. NEVER again!!

Excellent experience start to finish! Vicky helped us out and went above and beyond. We were seeing a show after, but she ensured we were able to experience the a la carte menu (rather than the limited “pre-show menu) and kept the timing on track. Food was flavorful, unique, fresh, and well presented. Highly recommend!

We had the lunch menu, food is very nice, our table waiter was lovely. Our lunch was spoiled by an up noxious dinning room staff with very bad manners. We ordered an extra coffee ( be aware an americano cost 9 pounds !). They brought chocolates and other sweets included in the menu. We said it was too much food and they told us we could take it home. Great ! When we asked to take it home, that rude staff person threw us, literally, a paper bag to the table. Any restaurant would take the food away, pack it and give it back with a smile. I have been going there for years. Never again

Went for the pre-theatre dinner menu as a family of four and enjoyed the food and drinks immensely. Great experience (big props to the front of house ofc) for the price and we all agreed we would love to come back for the regular menu as well.

Disregarding prices and Michelin Star reputation, focusing solely on the food—opted for a prefixed menu; my husband and I chose different menus to sample a variety. Regrettably, the meat was tough, the fish lacked flavor, and overall, the dishes suffered from a fundamental absence of a basic cooking ingredient—salt.
