Wednesday April 17, shop assistant gormless and when paid with cash failed to ring up the amount on the till….

As usual delicious coffee, croissant and friendly chat with Tahir, the owner. Such a refreshing change from going to one of the usual chain coffee shops 😊

This cafe has a lovely selection of tasty, traditional cakes and pastries, which are becoming increasingly hard to find elsewhere! Service is friendly, the coffee is excellent, and the prices are very reasonable for this location. Keep up the good work!

I have been coming to this lovely little cafe since earlier this year as I work local and like to visit before or after work. The gentleman who owns the place is friendly and happy to chat. The coffee is the best I’ve tasted in the area and well priced (£2.95 for a decent quality latte). I haven’t tried much of the food, but I once tried a lamb samosa which had been heated for me which was incredible. I really like this cafe as it’s just off the busy high street and has a choice of indoor seating and outdoor seating. Though I always opt for outdoor even in the rain!

Very friendly service and the desserts were very good! I had an éclairs and a cup of tea, which were lovely and I will be back!

I got harassed in this place. I was walking from Pret with shopping in one hand and a coffee from Pret, and there was a free table outside. I was not going to sit down, I just wanted to put the shopping in my backpack so I could continue walking more comfortably. As I put my backpack on the chair, the owner/employee came out and started screaming at me, saying I have to leave right now because I'm doing publicity of another chain. I said that I wasn't going to sit down, I just needed 30 seconds to put my shopping in my bag as I was walking down the street. He continued shouting at me demanding me to leave immediately. It was a horrible experience, even though I tried to explain the simple situation. Another employee joined in and started pushing me off from the street, I was just in shock. I have never experienced this level of harassment. Definitely do not reccomend.

La Gauloise ISN'T just a placed that serves great food, mouth watering cakes and delicious coffee. It surpasses all the essentials beyond belief. La Gauloise is the oldest standing cafe in Marylebone and is still independently ran! I'm so glad I found this gem in the middle of these giant, rusty, corporate cafes. To be greeted by an incredibly charming, kind and thoughtful man, Tahr. Serving connection and conversation with everything he does. You might be asking yourself now, "What in London?"... "YES IN LONDON!" So my final words are this...fair enough, you might prefer Costa or any of them brands. Assisting them in buying their 9th holiday home this year. Or you could support the underdog, La Gauloise and help Tahr and his family have the holiday they deserve? Thank you La Gauloise and thank you Tahr, Josh.

An absolutely revolting place, moreso than Green Park Caffé Concerto and that's saying something seeing as the disgusting bald man (of whom tried to poison a poor couple with covid-ridden mustard) made my experience Hell but somehow this godforsaken "café" if one can even call it that (as I'd describe it more as a maggot, flea and generally pest-infested pigsty of which makes a diarrhoea-covered toilet in a 1-star bar's gentleman's toilets look extremely clean and hygienic) was worse. Firstly the premises were filthy and uncleaned, they looked like it wasn't done for days. Secondly the shop was small and inefficient, there was hardly even a kitchen so God help the poor person who has to make the food/drink. And finally the food was all either rotting or fly infested, honestly a risk to customer health! Please avoid this as it might as well have the plague, there's far better coffee shops and cafés!

beware of this location ! food in display case have bugs crawling all over them. i even saw one of the workers serve food directly out of the case. definitely a food safety hazard. go somewhere else!

The owner was very rude and needs to learn better customer service skills and manners. After being provided with our meal, the owner started shouting and swearing at someone outside who literally was trying to take an umbrella out of their bag. The fact that it has just been raining and spent less than 2 minutes trying to get their umbrella out from their bag. In the meantime, the owner was shouting abuse, swearing and harassing the individual. The owner was extremely rude. Both my colleague and I did not even finish our food let alone the hot drinks. Made me realise that this is clearly not where I'd be providing business in the future. I'd strongly recommend to not visit this place unless you want to a rude awakening.

I was thinking of going to a cafe after visiting the Sherlock Holmes Museum, and the owner of this shop invited me in. My family and I shared chocolate cake and fruit tarts and enjoyed the cafe. I don't usually eat sweets, but it had the perfect amount of sweetness and was very delicious♪ My wife and children both raved about it! The coffee and tea were delicious and I was able to take a nice break. The master also spoke to me in a friendly manner, and I realized once again that England is the best. If you come to Baker Street, please come! Bought an eclair today - it was old and stale, and the filling was sour and fermented. Took two bites from it and threw it away. £3.95 for one eclair. Reading the reviewes, I can see many people complaining of poor quality food!

Tahar was very welcoming upon arrival. His oreo chocolate cake slices were perfect in taste, texture and quality. If you're near Baker street or Marylebone station, this is a great local spot for sure! Thanks again Tahar (it's Victoria).

I picked this place on a whim when I was on my way to costa and I am so glad I stopped here instead! Wow the coffee truly is incredible, and the food is delicious. Best coffee I’ve had! The tarts looks wonderful and I had an apple danish which was huge and incredible! I can’t wait to come back!

I placed an order through just eat. There was no option to add a special note and I wanted the order for my friend's birthday. So I called the place to ask them to add 'happy birthday' on the cake. The person who answered the phone did not speak English well. I repeated myself about 6 times and she still did not understand what I was saying nor what the 'just eat application' is and nor that I had ALREADY placed the order and was not calling to place a new order.

The owner is so kind and the coffee is incredible! My favorite place in London to get coffee. I have been here a dozen times and never been disappointed!

Today I came across the most spectacular array of patisseries in La Gauloise. Further to that wonderful surprise they have fresh sandwiches, fresh juices. Take away and eat in available. Friendly service and the most wonderful reception.

I popped in for a quick coffee and a cake while waiting for my train. The gentleman working there was brilliant - dry humour and really helpful. I also had a lovely chat with another woman who was also enjoying a coffee there - it was generally a really lovely experience overall

I bought a cake in the 23rd December for Birthday present, looks very delicious and the fruit on the top very shiny, this day we took just three slices and the fruit taste was not fresh but was just fine, next day on the 24th the family wanted to share the cake with more family members and the fruit was totally Rotten, I went to the shop trying to explain the situation and the same lady that sold me the cake the previous day just told me that she can't do anything about it, not replacement and not even partial refund, please be aware about these cakes, looks very shiny and delicious but next day you will get fruit Rotten and it will be direct to the rubbish bin

Came in wanting to support a local small business but left never wanting to ever return again. I was simply sitting byself, minding my business when a staff member blatantly lied to my face. He told me to move because the table was supposedly 'RESERVED'. I moved not thinking much about it, two other people came by not long afterwards and were allowed to sit on that table. I stayed in that cafe for over 40 minutes and no one came in for the supposedly 'RESERVED' table I was told to move from. To add this, I took home some tarts to share with the family and found mold on the fruits. Looking through the reviews, it seems I'm not the first to make a complaint about unfresh food. Avoid this is place at ALL costs. Don't spend your money on a business that might end up killing someone.

This is an absolutely awful cafe - do not go here. The owner is one of the rudest people I’ve ever met. I've seen several reviews on tripadvisor say the same thing. There is a pret and costa on the same road - you're better off going to one of those than supporting a man who has no manners and is incredibly aggressive.

This was a random coffee stop for us and we ended up sitting down for cakes. The coffee was the best we have had since being in the UK strong and not bitter.The cakes and the cakes beautiful. The owner Tahah was really friendly.

The cake was very good. I ordered an Oreo strawberry cake. The taste and looks were perfect. There were variety of cakes and lunch meals, so you will absolutely find your favorite. In addition, the owner was so kind! Also, this shop had some hot drinks and sweets for taking away. For that reason, you will definitely have great time if you come here!!

Great strawberry tarts Good service

Very disappointed with the full english breakfast here, it was awful. Not one bit on the plate hot or had any flavour. Hot chocolate was nice. The cake selection looked great so if your looking for a cake or pastry maybe this is the place but if wanting a full english breakfast id stay clear.

Lovely little independent cafe. We only had a drink and a cake as it was more for a sit down, but having perused all the ciabattas, baguettes and cakes on display would certainly love to try more than we had today. Certainly recommend it over the chain places that litter most of this stretch of Baker Street.

I made the mistake of purchasing a cake at this establishment. I was asked whether I wished to take away or eat inside. I said take away and the cake was placed in a paper bag (I had to ask for a plastic fork). Upon leaving the cafe we sat at one of the two small metal tables outside. There were no other customers. The server charged out of the shop and yelled, 'you said take away, you have to pay more to sit there'. We got up as we were not going to pay extra to eat from a paper bag with a plastic fork. He then got even more aggressive when I took a photo of the shop to remind me of the name. Needless to say we shall never return to this establishment and would advise others to avoid it. Such unpleasantness ruined the start to our day.

I was having quite a bad day, after walking out of Marylebone Station I came across La Gauloise. I was greeted by a young man who was very charming. He really uplifted my mood, he made me an amazing hot chocolate and a panini which was very tasty! The shop was very busy but this young man was a star, he dealt with the customers speedily and was very conversational with me. He made my day! Young man if you are reading this, God Bless you!!!

I bought a small cake from this place. The presentation looks good. I asked the person to give me chocolate one however he gave me deferent one. I had feeling he is trying to give me an old one. However, the cake was not fresh so it was baked ages ago & it was not tasty. He told me it’s £2.5 then I found out from my bank app he charged me £2,95 Poor experience.

Apart from the fact that the tea was hot, this place unfortunately has nothing to recommend it. Usually tea comes with teabags included, but surprisingly enough there were non in sight when brought to the table in dubiouly off white mugs. The stale pastries were...

Stopped in for tea and pastries after a walk in Regent’s Park. Although we were assured that everything was freshly baked, all three pastries were stale. What is more, tea was delivered already brewed in a cup without the teabag, so there was no opportunity to have the tea at the strength one wanted. Very poor.

Excellent place at excellent price. Is a treasure in the city where you can rest and eat incredible cakes with coffee or hot drink before continuing your journey. Loved the placed, became our favourite in the city

We bought 3 cakes from this cafe on the off chance that they looked appetising from the shop window. When we got home, the sponge cake was stale and the cream was off. My wifes mille fuille was stale and soggy and the eclair which i bought was dry. None of the desserts were fresh and appeared to be stored in the cake display cabinet for far too long. Avoid this place at all costs. Better to purchase from a trusted shop such as cafe concerto or an established patisserie shop.

I didn't go in person to this shop, but order through Uber eats for my partners birthday, as I started having contraction (couldn't do much more) Wrote a special note, notified the owner I was pregnant.. And yet, I received what seems to be stalled food. The 4 slices I ordered (chocolate tart, tutti frutti tart, cheesecake and lemon tart) were all off. The crust of the dough was non existent, everything looked and attested pretty soggy. Overly sweet as well with more sugar than actual taste from other main ingredients. We couldn't finish as I was scared for our health, especially being pregnant. La Gauloise has nothing French.. And I don't understand how so many people rated so high. Super dissapinted and a waste of money. Actively avoid.

Excellent service; more than happy to meet the varied needs of the family including a vegetarian and young children. The food was very tasty and cooked perfectly. Coffee had a proper kick to it, but was lovely and smooth. Would highly recommend.

In the Baker Street Station area? Then this coffee shop is the place to visit. An independent, owner operated coffee shop, great food and wonderful cakes to die for....I always stop here and sit outside and watch the world go by as I drink a coffee and have a cake. This is my place and I love it....you try it and see if I'm wrong.
