Came here for a late lunch at the weekend, after it was recommended to us while holidaying in the area. It didn’t disappoint!!! The food was amazing, hands down the best meal of our holiday. Service also good, and dogs welcomed too. The only feedback I’d give to the restaurant is that we were sat by a door that led out to a garden; people would take drinks out and the door didn’t close properly so we had to keep getting up to close it! Hopefully rectified in the upcoming refurb. Otherwise perfect and would recommend without a doubt!

This was our wedding anniversary holiday and we decided to give this place a try after driving past it a few times. On initial arrival, the service was impressive and friendly. Lovely atmosphere and a very stylish venue. We were given a more private table at the back of the room, which was appreciated. Our order was taken very quickly, however it took 40 minutes for the food to come, bearing in mind, it wasn’t even that busy, with only a few tables taken. Staff apologised and said they’d had problems in the kitchen and because the food itself was absolutely delicious, we let it go. However, no one came to see if we wanted more drinks or to check if the food was ok. When we were finally seen to, we had to ask for more drinks and to see the desert menu. We were left to peruse the menu and sat there waiting for someone to come. After waiting again for at least 15 - 20 minutes and our second lot of drinks finished, we gave up and asked for the bill. With a 10% service charge added to the bill automatically (you have to request to have it removed, but by that point, it’s too late), I think they have a cheek. We won’t be visiting again.

The service was fantastic, which made our long lazy lunch with friends really special. The food was good too, and certainly a place I will go back to.

Ate here last night and was impressed with the menu, our food and the service. All were excellent. Well done, Wild Hare team. We will be back. My salmon dish in particular was beautifully presented and tasted great. We will be back!

Lovely food but a little expensive and a automated 10% service charge added and no option on paying by card to decline

I want to love the Wild Hare. It’s a beautiful pub in a stunning location….but the food is so variable here! You can never be sure what you’re going to get. I’ve had some lovely meals but more of them have been disappointing. The ambience is lovely and the staff always friendly (although usually under trained) There’s a good selection of drinks and an ok wine list. The food is hit or miss though! Yesterday only half the dishes on the menu were available. Of the things we chose, the chicken burger was cremated; the chicken Milanese was like school dinners and the lamb kofta was so dry, it was almost inedible. A shorter, reliable menu might be easier for them to manage.

My Wife and I stayed for a night in one of the "lodge style" rooms .....the room was well equipped and clean and had the benefit of having a lawned area outside which was great for having a cup of tea in the morning . Breakfast was in the restaurant area and very well cooked and presented .....my brioche bacon , egg & sausage bun was particularly nice. My Wife and I also ate in the restaurant the night before , that too was excellent ....my Wife remarked that her plaice dish was one of the best fish dishes she had ever had ......my lamb rump dish was terrific.

Had a Sunday lunch here. Place was heaving, which explained the variable service. The food was OK, but nothing exceptional. I expect it's much better during the week, when the crowds are less. There appear to be back rooms that might be better suited to families or people who want more quiet than then main dining room.

Loved the buzzy ambience, decor, excellent service, great Sunday roast lunch using local produce with perfect portion size and meat cooked as requested. Thought the greeting by the Receptionist was a really nice touch, taking us to our table (by window in bar area as requested) and she even mentioned to be ready for the emergency/disaster alarm that would be sounding at 15.00 hrs! An all round good experience......I will be returning.

Booked a table for 3 for Saturday lunchtime. It wasn’t particularly busy but it took nearly 20 minutes before our order was taken. The menu was disappointing, we’d seen one online, which we liked the look of but it was completely different to what was available & I really struggled to choose anything. The dessert I ordered should have come with honeycomb ice cream & it came with vanilla, not the end of the world but annoying when you ordered it for a reason! To add insult to injury, 10% service charge was added.. there was no service above what is the absolute minimum. Maybe they realise they won’t get any tips because the service is lacking? Or they simply don’t try as they know they’ll get them anyway? Either way we won’t return & wouldn’t recommend others do either.

Met family here for Sunday lunch. First point, be aware dogs freely allowed in dining room ( on this visit 2 or 3 per table but well behaved) so if this bothers you, go elsewhere. Dining room - very cold and not helped by various staff coming & going through door to parking area and leaving it open. Table arrangement not always conducive to easy service for staff. Service - adequate if somewhat amateurish, could be quicker. Food - Sunday lunch menu so roasts, fish & chips plus vegetarian options. Portions not overly generous - 2 small half roast potatoes, 1 skinny roasted carrot/parsnip and barely a dessert spoon of green veg to accompany poorly cooked, fatty, sliced roast lamb. The exception was an enormous, stodgy Yorkshire pudding. Food waste is abhorrent but an extra potato/ carrot or two wouldn’t hurt. Ordered dessert only to be told choice unavailable as options had been changed on a new menu - surprised they hadn’t noticed this before as service had been underway for 90 minutes or so by then. Pricing - expensive, taking into account what was on the plate and standard of cooking- fairer price probably at least 25% less plus please end the practice of adding 10% to the bill before presentation for payment. Let customers decide for themselves what, if any, tip to leave. Overall this was a slightly below average experience and not good enough to encourage me to return and sample their other offerings- there is better to be had elsewhere in the area.

On the biannual occasions that we pass by Tintern, we usually stop at a well-known place on the other side of the road for a quick lunch. However, last week we were travelling on a Monday and the "other place" was closed. Previously when this had happened, my husband somehow felt that the Wild Hare was too expensive or too "posh" for him, so we never did stop there. But last week, with my student daughter in tow and wishing to feed her before she jumped on a train from Bristol to London, we decided to have lunch there. Luckily we were just in time before the chef signed off for the day. We were very pleasantly surprised (especially my husband!) as the menu was excellent value as well as being extremely interesting and appetising! The staff were very attentive and helpful, the food was brought to us in a timely fashion and was well-presented, delicious and well worth the price, which was as competitive as where we had originally intended to stop (but outstanding in its originality!) I am so glad we chose to eat here as I am sure that, in future, we will choose this place over the usual eatery! We chose starters, small plates and light lunches but they were absolutely plenty for our appetites.

Stayed the night and ate in the restaurant here, all as a treat for my 89 year old mother's birthday. Lovely new colourful and very tasteful decor throughout the pub and rooms, really great food and extremely friendly staff and manager. With some additions, this will be a stand out place. Lighting (and music addition?) needs to be improved in the lounge/breakfast area to create more atmosphere for pre dinner drinks, staff need to be a bit more trained up and then you will have a really great place to stay and eat.

My partner and I came here to check out the Detroit pizza and cocktails. The service was fast and super friendly, plus they catered for my nut allergy really well. Being dog friendly, we took out 12 yo labrador Alffi who had fun, plus and Utterly Mutterly ice-cream! We had the 1/2 and 1/2 Detroit pizza, a mix of Bloody Mary and the porcini mushrooms. It was DELISH, the portion was also massive meaning we took half home for tea, making it 2 meals in 1. My partner had the Detroit IPA which was hoppy and fresh. I had the Shepherd and Welsh Wanderer cocktails. Very strong, delicious and well presented. We have friends that live locally and will absolutely be back to check out the Sunday slices, bring our dogs and have some more pizza and cocktails. Thanks Lee & co for fab hospitality.
