We purchased some goodies from their stall during an event. The cob was rustic and delicious and the vegan sausage rolls are probably the best we've ever eaten. Unfortunately we didn't have the chance to try the yummy looking cakes because the dog stole them from the kitchen worktop. Due to the cake containing currants, we then had a horrible time at the vets waiting to see if this had impacted on her kidney function. I messaged the bakery for information about the ingredients of the cake and they were super helpful. They continued to show compassion and interest in the welfare of our pooch, who thankfully came out the other side healthy. They were even kind enough to offer us some free cake. Hoping we can visit in person one day.

We all remember where were were during the millennium bug crisis in late 1999. Or when we found out Ricky Martin was gay. But where were you when you first tasted the heaven sent baked delight for the first time? It's been nearly 40 years of searching for that childhood memory, taking me back to sitting in the front seat of a Saab, as my mother went and got me a ham salad roll and a can of something exotic from a bakery in town. A memory I have become reacquainted with recently... 20 or so years ago i was a lad about town. Making terrible life decisions about girls, homework, hair styles etc. I'd mooch around the town glaring at myself in shop windows to ensure my youthful appearance was up to scratch in case any of the Haberdasher's ladies were about. But my attention was soon taken away from my putrid reflection when I looked into the Wigmores window one lunchtime. The place was busy. Very busy. Buyers, servers, cakes, delights all being frantically moved from one side of the bakery to another. I sampled one or two items that day and was pleased to call it my favourite bakery. Fast forward to today, the ravages of old age and children have ensured I duck the reflective windows - oh to be a vampire. My reflection has aged like a congealed quiche, but I am delighted that whilst the busyness of Wiggies has dampened down, the products and service are still excellent. To have the happy memory presented to me in a paper bag just a few weeks ago was magical. The only problem was, it was my son's lunch and no amount of pleading, bribery, or threat of TV sanctions would make him release the bap from his sticky wet fingers. I did manage a solitary bite (a grown up size one, obviously), and that was enough to take me back... ahhhhh There are lots of bakeries and outlets these days. Wiggies is one that's worth the effort to visit. The generous selection and welcoming service are a delightful change to many other places in our towns and cities. It won't make you more alluring (well, it might?!), nor will you regain your youth, but it can make you happy... what more do you want?!

Discovered this bakery whilst we were on a stop over to break up a long drive home. I had heard of Bara Brith, a Welsh tea loaf whilst on holiday in West Wales, but could not find it anywhere. I popped into this bakery and there it was ! It was moist and delicious, now back in England I can't find it anywhere, if you have not had it and you are in Monmouth pop in and pick up a loaf (or two) it is fantastic with butter on it and a nice cup of tea.

Wow! Wow! Wow! another fantastic example of wonderful customer service from Louise and her team. Delivered a fabulous package of baked goodies to my mother-in-law for a Mother's Day treat. Both in-laws thrilled with the variety and quality of what was received. Package included a Victoria sponge, cherry bakewells, loaf of bara brith, treacle tart, cookies, quiche, sausage rolls, cornish pasties. Very reasonably priced too. Highly recommended.

This weekend Wigmore's Bakery made me a wonderful Harvest loaf for our Messy Church and Harvest Festival in St Arvans Church, Monmouthshire. It looked and tasted superb.......sorry I forgot to take a pic! I will ring Wigmore's on Monday to congratulate them on a job well done! Verena Evans : Church Warden

we've been here several times and always go back when we're in Monmouth. We always get lovely service with beautiful bread, cakes pasties etc on offer - we like the coffee here too. Don't expect anything posh because you are in a working bakery. Well worth finding we think.

Wow, why is this place not more popular? May be because it’s not on the beaten track for us tourists, but not being a fan of the national chains, we found this up by the Church and boy was it good. It is really a bakery, but it does have some sea5s for drinks and you can get a handmade sarnie or be tempted by one or maybe two of their delicious cakes at ridiculously low prices. I had a massive piece of of treacle tart which was delightful and yes, I did feel sick by the time I had finished it. I also had a hot chocolate, a glass of steaming hot milk and a load of chocolate pieces that you drop in, they melt, you stir, then drink, de-lici-ous. A hidden gem and well worth seeking out even if you just want a sarnie or a 🍰

I remember this bakers from years ago. It is tucked away from the main shopping areas but is a gem. I love the small independent bakers and this place is just as I remember it.

This really is a little hidden gem, tucked away in a winding side street - it’s a proper old fashioned bakery with a couple of tables. We grabbed a lovely pot of tea and my partner had a well filled sausage which he said was delicious whilst I had a slice of Battenberg - as good as my mums ( sorry Mum) . This place makes such a refreshing change from the Costa’s and Prets ,not to mention the rather set dressed independents - this felt truly authentic

Four of us called in here to buy packed lunches while we were walking Offa's Dyke Path which goes right by the door. What a refreshing change from the normal meal deal offerings by the chain shops. Wiggies did their own version of a meal deal which included a sandwich/baguette, bag of crisps, drink and one of their cakes (I had flapjack and it was delicious). The lady behind the counter was very cheerful and helpful. This is just like bakeries used to be.

Came here while in Monmouth and having read the reviews I bought 2 teacakes at £1.00 each....fair price I thought The teacakes were hard and lacked any flavour The elderly lady who served me was a miserable and was only interested in closing up the shop rather than serve me....taking cakes and others off the counter. Extremely disappointed considering the previous reviews

Smells just like all local bakeries did in my childhood, memories came flooding back. A very friendly welcome and engaging conversation to customers. Freshly baked and made egg mayo roll, Chelsea bun & sausage roll were all excellent. My only regret . . . . . not living nearer Monmouth to go in more often.

I've used "Wiggies" for our fresh bread and weekly cake treat for a couple of years. It's only recently that I’ve had a take away sandwich, they are brilliant! Bacon and brie! You have to give it a go, warm fresh bread, brie just the right temperature and perfect amount of cranberry bacon was amazing.

Me alegro mucho de que nos las arreglamos para encontrar esta panadería escondido local. Comprar pasteles galeses y Barabrith que eran tan buenos. No visitar, comprar y apoyarlo.

Whilst searching for a nearby antique shop (since closed down) we decided to drop in for a quick lunch snack. Very friendly staff served us with slices of pizza, coffee etc. to eat in and I could not resist the cakes on offer. Bread looked very tempting and it was nice to see a steady stream of (local) customers.

We were a group of people staying nearby as part of our Offa's Dyke walking week.We were in the vicinity for only a couple of mornings so used this Bakery to buy our lunch for the day ahead. The choice is great....including a choice of white or brown rolls....the fillings were imaginative and fresh! The cakes and all other yummy bits around were too much of a temptation to resist....so, we didn't.....resist that is!!...just as well we were going to be walking this off!I wish I had a Bakery like this near where I live.....but, I think I could gain stones in weight in a very short time....so maybe it's as well they are NOT on my doorstep!Gorgeous staff too....friendly, good looking and smiley!Keep up the good work!

I'm a regular customer and am delighted with their range of breads, cakes and pastries. Every now and again they have a special offer of a slow roasted pork filled roll with stuffing and apple sauce plus - and this is the amazing bit- a cake all for £3. But get there early or you will be disappointed.

Lovely old fashioned bakery offering quality bread and cakes. They also do coffee and snacks which is rather good as it is not quite in the centre of town and so is often quieter.

Wiggies, as it's called, is AMAZING - a huge range of traditionally baked breads - Rustique + sourdough are my favourites, though not available on Mondays as they take 36 hours to prove + the bakers take a well deserved night off on Saturdays. The range is particularly large on Fridays/Saturdays + the products are completely different from the supermarket stuff. Then there's traditional cakes like Barabrith + pastries + filled rolls + other lunchtime snacks. There are a few tables for you to eat in + excellent coffee. I am really lucky to live close by + have this wonderful bread freshly baked.

Wonderful little old-fashioned bakery serving excellent coffee and lunchtime sandwiches, hot & cold. A little off the beaten track (round the corner past the Studio cinema) but one of those one-off places that you don't forget. Great bread and cakes, of course, made right there (you can see the ovens round the back) but don't miss the hog-roast sandwich!

9 of us for dinner. Just as well we had booked as the place was rammed! No surprises why! We had a fantastic meal. I think we had the best waitress I've ever experienced and the landlord and his wife/partner put in a good shift as well and obviously the chefs. What amazed me most was I could see into the kitchen and there only appeared to be 2 people in there and I didn't hear a raised word all the time I was there! Anyway top marks Hall Inn, we all loved the experience. My wife and I live in York and we will be definately coming back when we next visit.

We shared 6 Vegetable dishes for lunch today, plus a pud, and every mouthful was sensational. The dishes were complex and delicious, and very satisfying. It is difficult to find good vegetarian food that I can’t cook equally well at home. These dishes really were better than anything I’ve cooked, and there was plenty of choice. Plenty of choice for carnivores too. The chefs really know how to squeeze the maximum flavour out of every ingredient. The celeriac dish was my favourite , but we couldn’t decide which was our second favourite plate of deliciousness. We’ll be back.

Lovely Irish landlady was extremely accommodating to me & my two boys.. Service was how service used to be before the big pub chains took over everything… Food was brilliant.. Had to have the bread pudding as haven’t had it since I was a kid.. took me right back! Definitely recommend and will return 👌🏼

Took my sales team here for lunch, 10 of us in total. The food is incredible and you certainly won’t go hungry. Everyone at the pub is friendly and can’t do enough for you. Feels like a good old fashioned boozer set in an amazing position on the Wye. Everyone only had good things to say about the place. Steak is a specialty here. No hesitation in recommending the Rose and Crown. Thanks all who looked after us that day.
