Lovely Irish landlady was extremely accommodating to me & my two boys.. Service was how service used to be before the big pub chains took over everything… Food was brilliant.. Had to have the bread pudding as haven’t had it since I was a kid.. took me right back! Definitely recommend and will return 👌🏼

Went here today 20/1/24 for lunch and i couldn’t fault anything the food was absolutely spot on from the Homemade hunters chicken which my mum who was with us said it was the best one she’d ever eaten anywhere to the gammon egg and chips and also the scampi and chips. I would recommend anyone to try it 10 out of 10 for me . I will definitely be going back.

There's no pretentiousness here, no haut cuisine or bistro menus, that's not what they do. Instead, what they do do is traditional pub food very well indeed. I enjoyed the Steak and Ale pie very much indeed, potentially the best I've ever had. Very polite staff, very good prices.

It had been a wet day for canal boating, and we wanted an easy evening. There was the pub, just downhill from our mooring. We booked, as advised by another publican earlier on our trip; felt foolish as the place was almost empty. But we were welcomed in, seated and served with friendly courtesy. And there was an ever-changing cluster of locals nattering nearby, happy to exchange the odd comment with us. The food was good, the choice of beers likewise. We forgot we had been cold and wet and decided it was a good day.

Probably the best Steak and Ale pie, not just in Wales, but all of Great Britain. Discover the little inn, hidden in the village of Govilan in the Brecon Beacons. If you are staying anywhere near Brecon, Crickhowel or Abergavenny, make sure you dont miss out on this small historic canal side village and their lovely old fashioned inn. It’s where locals dine and you’ll ge5 to discover the best Steak and Ale Pie ever. Tasty, pure steak pieces and no gristle or fat, only the best cut stewing steak and the tastiest gravy and beautiful hand cut chips. It’s all made fresh on site. So while you wait, the local bees are well kept and served to compliment you choice in pie. Enjoy.

We shared 6 Vegetable dishes for lunch today, plus a pud, and every mouthful was sensational. The dishes were complex and delicious, and very satisfying. It is difficult to find good vegetarian food that I can’t cook equally well at home. These dishes really were better than anything I’ve cooked, and there was plenty of choice. Plenty of choice for carnivores too. The chefs really know how to squeeze the maximum flavour out of every ingredient. The celeriac dish was my favourite , but we couldn’t decide which was our second favourite plate of deliciousness. We’ll be back.

9 of us for dinner. Just as well we had booked as the place was rammed! No surprises why! We had a fantastic meal. I think we had the best waitress I've ever experienced and the landlord and his wife/partner put in a good shift as well and obviously the chefs. What amazed me most was I could see into the kitchen and there only appeared to be 2 people in there and I didn't hear a raised word all the time I was there! Anyway top marks Hall Inn, we all loved the experience. My wife and I live in York and we will be definately coming back when we next visit.
