Went for lunch on Friday , great mixture of tourists, locals , workers clocking off for the weekend. Great all fashion service with pa smile, didn't even need to go to the bar to order either drinks of food. My wife had a lovely home made quiche and I had my first ever Goat Curry ! I took me 73 years to try one , delicious. Thanks again.

Great food, knowledgeable attentive staff. I had Beef Chilli and my wife had Brie, bacon and cranberry quiche. Both excellent in terms of taste and quantity. All food is made in house. Good selection of drinks and warm friendly atmosphere and great location for the town centre.

The Wickstead is a traditional town centre pub with two separate bars. It's not exactly an unspoilt gem but has an old fashioned feel about it, and I mean that in a a very positive way. There is a great selection of ales on the bar, some of them from smaller Cheshire breweries. Don't forget to check both bars, as there are different beers on the pumps each side. It's a popular meeting place for lunch, and they offer a decent, fairly straightforward menu with one or two surprises: for example, goat curry. I went for a very pleasant fish pie. Staff are friendly and welcoming.

The Wickstead Arms is a gem of a pub right in the heart of Nantwich. It oozes character with its fine selection of real cask ales that you may never have seen before. The food has that home made quality you rarely find these days. Plenty of choice and served piping hot with friendly attentiveness. If you want a proper pub you don’t need to scour the streets - just head for the Wickstead Arms and you won’t be disappointed.

Nice dog friendly pub, good attentive staff, but on the occasion we visited the food came out on plates that were literally red hot, 🔥🥵 the food was still cooking on the plates, could not begin to eat our meals for 10 minutes, this may have been a one off, so we will give it another try.

We've waited three years to manage to get a table in here as it is quite small and only offers walk-ins and is usually full. The Steak and Ale pie did not disappoint at £14.95, a half a pie slice with real cooked chips and peas. Beer battered onion rings were also light and lovely. The staff were fantastic, two lovely friendly young girls who served us, a credit to the pub. Cask ale selection is also decent in here, the rest of the lager selection is fairly standard such as Madri and Morreti, could benefit from a craft style IPA on tap. They only serve food at lunch which is a shame as we would happily dine here in an evening. Certainly one of the more affordable pubs in town these days for food and drink.

Incredible pub with amazing food and wonderful customer service. I have been more times than I can count and have never been disappointed - dog friendly (bar side only), welcoming and friendly staff, a wide selection of real ales and home cooked food all call for a perfect meal out in Nantwich. For those wanting a great night out at the weekend I also highly recommend. Live sports with music on Saturday nights, has often resulted in a few more late nights than intended!

I attended this pub with my friend both FEMALES on a busy Saturday night. No security staff cover this pub. All was ok until a middle aged MALE who has clearly had too much to drink (he was with 2 other MALES) was annoyingly pushing me. After several times I asked him to stop and turned away to which he punched me in the side of my face. He proceeded to fight, lash out, shout and was extremely out of control. The bar lady Amber came to assist and at one point was held back by the males friends to prevent her from getting him out of the pub. She herself said she was frightened. Eventually after a brawl he was removed. To my dismay myself and my friend were then both asked to leave the pub via the back door (which leads on to the same street the male in question was on) at the exact same time which amber stated was policy. Leaving us vulnerable. Once I left the pub I myself called the police to report the assault as a further assault went on to happen. At no point did any member of staff contact the police for assistance. I contacted Emma the land lady of the pub several days later to discuss the events as a lessons learned exercise. Wow what a rude, obnoxious, obstructive lady she is. She had no idea what had occurred that night yet was talking as if she did. She claimed to have watched the CCTV. However only saw one female be assaulted not two. She was nothing but argumentative and defensive. I explained I had contacted the police and was merely trying to prevent further happening. I didn’t think it was ideal to ask two vulnerable females to leave at the same time as a violent male. As there are no security staff I do think the police should have been called. Having spoken to amber the next day she also informed me she had stopped serving the male a while previous due to him being too intoxicated, may be at that point he should have been asked to leave. Emma took none of this on board and also had me on speaker phone where Tom her partner was interrupting and was merely trying to bully me!!!! Both Emma and Tom treated the assault with no sensitivity or care and were just defensive to the conversation. I have formally asked Emma on several occasions for her licensing details to make a complaint and she was not supplied them. Therefore I feel a review is appropriate as she dealt with this situation appallingly

It’s rare to be reviewing a funeral Wake, but now The Wickie deserves special mention and have its place cemented at the heart of what turned out to be a terrific celebration of David’s life. A ‘Local’ as well as a ‘Regular’, for David, this place was a wonderful Harbour ; a trusted safe Haven…but more than that, a fantastic focal point for community interaction serving up a perfect blend of company, fun, security and friendship. A perfect venue - the only venue - for David’s friends & family to come together alongside his pub mates to share stories ! Emma runs a really impressive set-up. Here, there’s ‘heart’, there’s soul and there’s a real sense of belonging. Everyone ‘the other’ side of the bar is on their game, all with energy, purpose and big smiles. And ‘this side’ seemingly, has its fair share of notable characters ; those who create the culture, stamp their presence on something that makes it discernibly its own. And the food is the very best money can buy. Julie knows what she’s leading in the kitchen and what it creates, is pub grub heaven. Except ‘grub’ is a complete misnomer ! I defy anyone to taste a better steak pie than those served up at The Wickie. And judging by the terrific spread that was laid on at yesterday’s feast, the culinary mastery goes far beyond anything encased in ‘just’ pastry ! Fresh. Delicious. Totally satisfying ! Well done Team Emma. You did David proud - for so many years in life, and yesterday as he was settling in ‘up there’ ! Thank you.

We enjoyed a very tasty and fairly priced Sunday Lunch in the lounge at the Wickstead Arms today. The welcome and service throughout were fantastic. A cosy and traditional pub decor, with regulars at the bar but just as much welcome for someone new (and with a baby in tow). We hadn’t booked, but luckily there was a table. Gluten free Sunday Roast option. Clean and tidy including the toilets (no official baby change due to limited space, but a mat was available and the floor was clean).

As regular users of the Wickstead we walked into town for sunday lunch. It's always been our first choice. We both ordered roast beef as fellow diners looked superb. Our plates arrived looking really nice as usual . The beef , plenty of it looked nice but after eating much of the meal the beef that was buried we coukd not eat as it was pink and chewey. We told the waitress who was very pleasant. We said we were not complaining but may be the chefs could cook it less pink. Won't stop me returning though. Hope it's just a one off . Still a superb pub.

Have been going for a considerable number of years, and really enjoy everything about this pub. Ideal location, good food, great selection of beers and very friendly staff. We always have the pie, which I feel is their best offering. This time, unfortunately, it was a bit of a disappointment. You can tell that the pies are lovingly made but I don’t know whether it has been microwaved, because the crust was extremely hard , and overall a bit dry. Perhaps if a jug of gravy was served separately, it would overcome some of that problem. Otherwise, a completely enjoyable experience. Will definitely be coming again in the near future. Thanks

Stayed here for one night on work business. The bedroom was nice, comfy bed and fairly tasteful decor (apart from the lion pictures everywhere!!). Free car parking is available and the reception staff were helpful and friendly. However our evening experience was really poor. I’m not sure exactly what was happening but there was some kind of filming going on and (I think) various staff were being interviewed. This then resulted in the kitchen being closed and not taking any food orders. When we asked to see the manager, we were told various tales including “the manager isn’t on site”, “the filming has tripped all the electric and gas (!) in the kitchen” before bringing told the kitchen had miraculously reopened. It felt like the filming took priority and was more important than paying guests. Equally in the morning at breakfast guests were asked to sit in certain places, out of the way of any filming, making us feel like an inconvenience. I wouldn’t recommend sadly.

Attended here with friends for an evening meal as part of a group of 11 and the service by Niall was outstanding. We had the evening meal and breakfast package from the premier inn next door and very good value for money!

We used to live in Weaverham and often walked to the Riverside for a drink or food. They used to do 2 main courses for £10 which was good values for money. I know those days are now gone but after our recent visit I don’t think we will be returning. We booked a table for Sunday lunch for 4 people. We ordered drinks which came promptly and then ordered our food. We only ordered 4 mains, fish and chips, sea bass and 2 x steak and ale pies. We waited over an hour for our food, others who arrived after us received their food so we asked how long ours was going to take and were told they were just plating up. 10 minutes later we finally received our food. The fish and chips did look lovely and was a healthy portion size, the pies were well filled but mash potato was a bit on the small side. The main issue was the sea bass. There were 2 small fillets with a few crushed potatoes underneath, a spoonful of frozen peas, 2 green beans and 5 mange tout. Now for £17.95 I expected more. I’m not a big eater or a quick eater but I finished my meal first, and I knew I wouldn’t be full for long. How much do vegetables cost? Surely some carrots and tender stem broccoli wouldn’t break the budget? I did mention this and I was not charged for my alcohol free G&T, but I couldn’t wait to get home and have something to eat, disappointing.
