Very good food, lovely place and the staff were friendly and genuine

The White Swan in Wighill is our go-to pub, but today was our first time sampling their culinary delights. We nestled into the snug with our dog, racing against the clock with dinner at 12:15 and the F1 starting at 2 PM. Our culinary adventure included cauliflower soup, pâté, pork belly, and roast beef. Spoiler alert: everything was top-notch! The soup was a personal favorite—absolutely delightful. The food was not just tasty, it was a flavor fiesta. The staff? Simply fantastic. And the landlord? A comedic genius. The pub itself is the epitome of coziness, and while they offer accommodation, we haven’t explored that yet. After devouring our meals and downing a few beers, we made it home just in time for Martin’s grid walk in Monza. Cheers to perfect timing and even better food!

Popped in on a Wednesday night which happened to be steak night, which was a good deal for a lovely couple of sirloins. Very friendly staff and 3 real ales on hand pumps so well worth a small diversion.

We stopped off on our bike ride today, the food was absolutely gorgeous we had the beef ciabatta. The quality of the beef was superb, the service was excellent and staff were so accommodating. Definitely be back x

Our family of 6 stopped for just one night. The White Swan is such a cozy, nice and inviting place situated in a beautiful village. The place and people were wonderful, both guest and hosts. Great experience! Diana and John were so hospitable & made it that extra special!

Fantastic hidden Gem of a Pub in the Country. Food amazing Rooms in the courtyard excelent lovely Walk in Wet Room Shower Jon and Diana were fantastic hosts. Their staff are a credit to them. Will always plan a stop over when we are back in that area. We were going to a wedding at a nearby Venue Diana drove us there. First class service, will defo stay there again Cant thank you enough. A warm welcome awaited us as we stepped through the door, sat by a roaring fire to enjoy a couple of drinks while we browsed the menu, we had lamb steak and fish pie, both very tasty and well presented. After eating in the attractive dining room we moved back into the bar for the rest of the evening, chatting to the landlord and the locals. Lovely evening.

This was much better than our previous visit. The beef, although still slightly over cooked for my taste, was very good quality. The main course was attractively served with nice fresh vegetables. Service was cheerful and efficient. Overall good value for money. Fortunately dining area not shared with dogs during our visit.

Booked the white swan for sunday roast. We didnt order starters. Some of the table ordered the pork and some ordered beef. The pork was tasty but hands down the best pork crackling I have had with a roast. Perfect. The beef was cooked perfect for me (still pink in the middle). I'm gluten free and found the meal to still have all of the taste to it. Came with variety of veg and plenty of gravy! We ordered the child pizza, which was more baguette style but that was perfect for our tor and what a portion size! We decided to round it off with puddings. I had apple crumble, the crumble was flavourful and plenty of apple. My husband got a bakewell tart which he found to be spot on..he exchanged the custard for ice cream with no issues. Our server, didnt catch her name but young girl with dark hair...extremely polite and professional. Nothing was too much trouble. The atmosphere is warm and inviting? Welcomed with smiles and care. If in the surrounding area pop in, even for a drink it's a lovely quaint pub.

Quite a turn around from when i first visited this pub. The service and food were terrible, but now the service was really good and the food was tasty and well presented. I initially gave one star but have now uprated to four.

Visited with friends last night and tonight as we're staying nearby in our caravan. Super little village pub. Landlord and lady very friendly, and hard working as are the staff we met. Very quick service, food excellent, piping hot and good portion sizes so thanks to the Kitchen staff too. Nice to see a village pub with a bit of buzz. Really wanted to sample Sunday lunch but sadly we have to go home. Well worth a visit and been perfect to have on our doorstep this last 2 nights. Will definitely come back again.

I could not recommend the swan enough. Me and two friends stayed here over the weekend, the owners went above and beyond for extra dietary requirements, local information and the evening meal food was to die for! (Highly recommend the chicken with creamy mushroom sauce). I rarely leave reviews negative or positive but this had to be reviewed! Lovely quiet location with tidy gardens (and dog friendly too!)

Had lunch here. First time visit. Could the lady with bright orange dress be so unwelcoming. Almost rude. We said a friendly hello twice before she responded Our lunch was fine but next table had green ion bread which was sent back Orange dress then sitting with lady with a young child in bar area … we said goodbye….. Nothing Hospitality. Wow. Dead. Other lady serving was perfectly nice. Step up owners.

Stayed over in our motorhome for an unplanned visit, the landlord was very helpful and squeezed us in for Sunday lunch which was amazing a strong 10/10 a lovely country pub dog friendly with excellent staff

Super pub, dining and rooms in small village near Wetherby. Staff very friendly and helpful. Large car park that allows motorhomes to stay overnight, phone ahead to check there is room.

Beautiful country pub, friendly staff and amazing food. Stayed overnight in our campervan as they are a host of brit stops. Overlookinga small field, beautiful beer garden and very spacious. The rooms looked immaculate and maybe next time we might stay in one. Thankyou for the warm welcome x

Called in for a drink at The White Swan while out cycling. Great to find a pub out in a small village still. Very welcoming staff, friendly locals and a great pint of Landlord. We didn't have anything to eat this time, but the food looked and smelled great, so we will call another time soon and try a meal.

We stumbled upon the White Swan as we popped off the main roads for something to eat. We received one of the warmest welcomes we have ever had from John. The food was fresh and tasty and the service was excellent. I can't fault it, just a shame it's not near where we live!

This place is a rare find this day and age. A pub with it all. Good atmosphere, good beer, good conversation, amazing food, beautiful building and great hosts. It was like being at your best friends place not a pub. Going back again as had such a lovley time. Hope John and Di keep it up.

Myself and my, very particular, wife had a fantastic evening meal here. I had steak n ale pie with mash, the mash was FAB!, The other had the fish pie - the best she's had! It tasted great. Fresh ingredients, fabulously cooked, generous proportions. Just really good service, banter at the bar with the locals. Very nice evening all in! 👍👍👍

We shared a really nice Sunday lunch platter, The pork and gravy were excellent but it was all delicious! Very friendly and accommodating overall, would recommend a visit especially If you are about on a Sunday. Couldn’t fault it.

Called in on a Saturday for lunch and was met with a warm welcome by owner and staff. The three of us took a while to decide what to have from the good selection of dishes from the menu , eventually all decided to have a light ciabatta sandwiches lunch ( or so we thought ). ....The portions were large ! I had roast beef and a jug of hot gravy , my wife had a bacon ,brie and cranberry, salad & homemade coleslaw and my daughter had the posh finger ciabatta with salad & coleslaw ALL included best homemade CHUNKY CHIPS we have ever seen & eaten ! All of our plates were full and so were we afterwards. Posh fingers were homemade and a good size. The Bacon & brie was plenty full. The Roast beef was succulent & tender & enough gravy to compliment the beef and the outstanding chunky chips . .. We are looking forward to our next visit to try the Sunday lunch . Very attentive staff and a lovely atmosphere. Many thanks to all concerned. With 3 drinks included in the bill for £50 , great value and quality.

We stayed in the Deluxe Room Hawthorn. This was just exquisite. My daughter & her partner stayed next door, and both rooms were just amazing. The fixtures and fitting and furniture are to a very high standard. Spotlessly clean. Peaceful and comfortable. Great facilities. This is attached to the beautiful pub and the food was divine. We ate Dinner and breakfast. The hosts John and Diane are so welcoming and friendly. The staff cannot do enough to make your stay perfect. The Sunday lunches are just legendary. We cannot recommend highly enough, and we cannot wait to return. A great all round experience. 100 out 100 !!! X

Really enjoyed the food and atmosphere at the pub. Had the White Swan pie (dont worry it is steak not swan🙂). Tasty dessert too. Decent pint of beer as well. All good, will return. Returned December 2022 for Xmas lunch menu. Delicious, hot, good quality meal. 3 courses thoroughly enjoyed. Nice pint of Atlantic too. Party of 8 people... all clean plates, great service.

New chef, more modern selection of dishes, not outfacing anymore. Group of 12 of us all enjoyed our meal.

Overall a good Sunday lunch. The roast itself was excellent although starters/puddings not quite as good.

The best Sunday dinner I've ever had!

As a repeat customer who has had a few great evening meals we brought our son and family for Sunday lunch and pre wedding dinner and was really disappointed. The room we were sat in was dark and dingy and cramped, certain items of the Sunday lunch were cold or overdone, the wine glasses were dirty, no placemats, just really disappointing. The usual owners weren't there, it was young staff passing hot food over a baby! Really let down by our visit! Won't rush back sadly which is a shame!

Popped in for Lunch on the bike. Had the posh fish finger sandwich. It was perfect and very posh. Chunky chips, top salad and great ciabatta. A nice stout from the bar good service and a beautiful place. Highly recommended.

Had a lovely lunch today with our friends. Food and service was excellent and would highly recommend. We had steak pie, the pastry is to die for, hot beef and posh fish finger sandwiches. Excellent quality and good portions. We will definitely return.

Fabulous. From the moment we arrived, the setting was gorgeous, beautifully presented, a warm welcome and attentive staff (and very hands on interactive but nots to any food, but especially a roast, and this was easily the best roast dinner I have had in a very (very) long-time. The meat was cooked to perfection, a generous portion of crackling with the pork option, and we were quite late in the day to be seated. 10/10 all round. Highly recommend (and doggy friendly). Thank you, John, Di Chef (& Co) and your front of house team.

Went here today 11/8th Aug party of 9, the staff are amazing my daughter is just getting over radiotherapy and the staff made a special effort to makesure she was cateredfor, the food was excellent ,beautiful gardens ,will definitely be going back again if in the area

A lovely country pub tucked away in a peaceful area just outside Tadcaster. Food was very tasty. One slight issue was my burger really could have done with a bigger plate! The staff were quick to bring extra napkins when they saw my fingers covered in the barbecue sauce!

We spent two very comfortable nights in the new courtyard accommodation and enjoyed an absolutely delicious meal in the restaurant. It’s such a pleasure to have home-cooked food to such a high standard. You would have to go a long way before finding such hospitable kind hosts such as John and Di. Thank you very much- we’ll be back !

A very friendly welcome. Barman (apologies forgot name) was exceptionally friendly & helpful throughout our stay. We had a couple with our excellent starter & main course. Ample parking. Aesthetics of the place was unique, traditional with a twist of sophisticated style. Portions was ample and choices was perfect for the hit season we're in currently. Highly recommend to the 25+ yrs, couples and smaller families .. advisory to book prior in business times. Thank you to all at White Swan. Had our daughter's wedding evening party here. The food was absolutely amazing and the landlord and landlady could not have done anything more to make it perfect. The setting is beautiful so well thought out. The staff were on hand at all times. It was just a fantastic night thank you to all at The White Swan would highly recommend this venue just perfect.

We were staying nearby in a little cottage and had a little walk here for a drink. The staff were very welcoming. If we are ever in the area again we will definitely be back.

Excellent food and service, lovely pub in a quiet village and perfect for a lunch or evening meal. The steak we had was done to perfection and the young waitress on her first day did a magnificent job.

Nice village bar which appears to have been recently refurbished and is ongoing further refurbishment (which does not effect you In the bar or restaurant) to increase its capacity and offering. Nice food, good selection of beers and drinks, nice seating inside and out. Friendly local staff with local knowledge.

Gem of a place, I'm with Britstops (stopovers for people with Campervans) very pleasant patrons and bar staff, made us feel very welcome. Delicious food at reasonable prices. Look forward to coming again once their building work is finished and they're serving breakfasts

Turned up unexpected, however was soon found a table. Hospitality was outstanding by both the landlord and landlady. Food was excellent value for money, compliments to a great chef, one of the best meals I've had in a long time with local produce. They are in the process of having guest rooms built, may have to come back for a stay. Highly recommended 👌 xx

A really lovely pub with lovely staff and ambience. I don't eat meat so I had fish it was quite oily and did not taste of much but the rest of the meal was great my partners Sunday lunch looked amazing also and he had no complaints. All in all would happily go back again.

What makes a pub great...the hosts!! John and Di made us feel welcome the moment we stepped through the door, with their friendly banter and pleasant demeanour. The food was lovely, though I did have food envy throughout the meal though wanting to swap with my husband who had chosen steak and ale pie with chips...oh well maybe next time as I am sure we will be back :-)
