White Orchid Cafe in Derby

I used to stop by when I worked around the corner. The staff are friendly, and the food is great. It's a cosy environment, but you must watch your step in the dining area as there is an elevated floor. It's a shame I'm no longer in the area, as I'd love to come by again.

Take a short walk from the city centre and you will find the White Orchid still blooming. Fabulous service, very good breakfast and best of all great value, well worth the walk.

Terrific little cafe serving delicious breakfasts, great coffee and homemade treats. It’s rare to see such wonderful staff who are so attentive to their regulars and new customers alike. Cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Excellent cafe. We're from out of town and found this little gem by chance for a much needed coffee and snack. Great service, very clean and lovely, friendly staff. 10/10.

I’d just arrived in derby after a 2.5 hr drive and was in need of some breakfast whilst my car was at the local MG specialist garage. Shelly was great, knew exactly what I was looking for and recommended their Belly Buster Breakfast Cob (I did have to ask what a cob was !!). Anyway, the Bellybuster was awesome, the cafe was awesome and if ur in the area then pop in and see these guys .. Shelly was super friendly and it was just nice to chill for 1/2 hr. Before I knew I was back in the car and heading back home. I would travel 280 miles all over again just for another belly buster !!

It's so easy to get your coffee from one of the "major chains" but why not instead support your local, private run outlets? A great example of one you should visit is the White Orchid. I am slightly bias as I pay a visit nearly every day (I wouldnt return if I didn't like it!) A friendly smile greets all customers which brightens up any day. If you have time on your hands the cafe area at the back can be found by following the "covid signage". It's clean and a great place for hot or cold food or just a drink and a chat. Personally I am more regularly found in the take away part of the shop ordering my cappuccino and a home made cake. The home made offerings are delicious whether you have a gooey chocolate brownie, a tasty white or milk chocolate flap jack, lemony lemon sponge or frankly anything else on offer on the day, you will not be disappointed. If you like savory don't fear there are usually homemade scotch eggs and sausage rolls as well This is on top of the full cafe menu. If you are on a diet you can have a skinny white, if not just enjoy! The White Orchid always seems busy which is a recommendation if you ever needed one.

I use this cafe on a regular basis. Never had an issue with anything. Staff are always working with a smile and you get a warm welcome as you come through the door. Breakfasts are filling and I love the coffees. With so many cafes around it’s good to find one you can go to on a regular basis and not be worried about the quality of the products. Cob’s are all made up fresh for you and are of a decent size and there is a good choice of fillings. Pop in and give it a try. It looks tiny from the outside but it has a reasonably large room at the back with 7 tables.

A really lovely cafe with a friendly owner who makes sure everything is right for you. Great menu. Lots of variety. AND the biggest sausage cob I’ve ever seen! Amazing value for money. Will definitely be returning and recommend to all. 5 stars from me!

After a heavy weekend in Wales, four hungry lads popped in to refuel. This place DID NOT disappoint. Friendly staff, prompt service, delicious food at a great price. Highly recommend.

We visited this cafe for our daughters 18th birthday breakfast. The owner and her staff went out of their way to ensure it was a lovely experience. We ordered a variety of different items from the menu and everyone enjoyed their food- especially grandad who declared it the best black pudding! The party included two vegetarians who’s requirements were catered for well. We will definitely visit again!

Visited White Orchid as recently been taken over by new owners. Shazza and her team are lovely friendly happy and make you feel so welcome. The breakfasts are amazing piping hot consistently good and very reasonably priced.

This place is just perfect. Staff couldn’t be friendlier and the food is to die for. Served quickly (even when every member of our party ordered something different!!!) and nothing was too much trouble. Kids meals are massive and all beautifully fresh. So much choice and all just as delicious. A gem of a place.x

Visited the cafe for a bacon cob and a coffee and just wow!! Absolutely lovely really nice cafe and was very well priced and was well worth a visit! Will be going back very soon!

A friend and I went for lunch and a good old chinwag. We both had the toasted club sandwich which was delicious and very filling. We had our teapot topped up regularly without even having to ask, they asked us! We felt we could just sit and chat for as long as we liked. We will definitely go back and look forward to trying something else from the great menu.

I call in to this lovely cafe at least once a week for a meal deal and the staff are so friendly.. just makes you want to stay there longer. food is delicious and you don't come out of the cafe smelling of greasy food like some cafes...

Does what it says on the tin, provides nice food, in a fairly quick manner and the staff are really friendly as well

Spotlessly clean and well laid out cafe, breakfast choice was very good with excellent quick service, well worth the short walk from the city centre.

Popped in this morning after walking by and seeing the Menu / Price Board. £4.95 for a Full English. It certainly was a Full English, bacon,egg, sausage,Black Pudding, mushrooms, Hash Brown, tomatoes, beans, fried bread. Attentive and fast service and the breakfast was very good.

A warm welcome and first visit for us. Very attentive service and food was lovely. Reasonably priced compared to other cafes and good selection on the menu
