Just been to This Establishment we had mixed meat salad and it came with chips if we wanted them. Must say this is the best “Salad” I’ve had in ages and the plateful was massive. Had to finish with Rhubarb Crumble again the helping was massive. All aspects of this place in my eyes are 5 ⭐️from the friendly and cheery staff to the cleanliness of the place. Highly recommended

My wife and I and two friends went for Sunday lunch,we booked a table the previous week for 1pm,we arrived at 12.50pm,given our table No and bought drinks at the bar, which we took to our table, after a while we realised,a lot of people seemed to be waiting to order, one table actually got up and left,we eventually put our order in at 1.30pm,approx 10mins later our lunch arrived,we had beef & lamb & Turkey and trimmings & a side order of chips(real chips)the food was excellent,QUALITY,we would definitely go back and hope the service was a bit better prior to the meal. The staff were all very nice & friendly, great views from upstairs windows.

I take my elderly father here for lunch when I'm in the area. We always get the £10 two-course Wednesday lunch deal, which is fantastic value. The roast beef is ace and comes with a side plate filled with mountains of veg. Then there is a choice of dessert, either off the trolley or something hot - I can highly recommend the rice pudding and sticky toffee pudding. It's out of the way but the location is interesting - right by an airfield and hangar. Very much a place for those with local knowledge.

It took almost one hour before our food arrived. Clearing away the plates and bringing puddings took just as long. We were there for two and a half hours altogether. My pint of bitter tasted odd and someone’s lager was equally bad. The barman agreed with us but the two cans of Diet Coke seemed poor compensation. Both main course and pudding were excellent but we won’t be back for a while.

Delicious tasting food. We all had starters and mains, mainly Sunday dinners. Very tasty and wasn’t much of a wait. It’s slightly odd the way they serve the Sunday dinners that you are given an empty plate hen they hold a silver platter and scrape the food from the platter to your plate. I’d rather it was already on my plate. Much more simple. The desert trolly is the best. Everywhere should have a desert trolly. Brilliant. Only qualms- girl behind bar (very tall girl) was unbelievably miserable with no customer skills.Second and final annoyance, the tables were all a different height then with a table cloth over the top- my brother had just bought a drink, placed it on our table and due to it being on the join of two different height tables it tipped and spilled everywhere. We told the waitress and she gave zero sh*ts and walked away! In my eyes they should have replaced his drink out of courtesy.Other than that I do plan to return and give t another try.

Occasionally I have had Sunday lunch here and it has always been enjoyable, so I booked for 12 for Easter . When we arrived the table was only set for 10 so they added 2 more placing which meant we were touching each other . The service was a total shambles with the food coming in dribs and drabs - from our initial order we waited 1 hour 20 mins till we got our main course . They brought warm plates , but by the time the food was served they were cold . The beef was mixed - one tender piece and the rest like shoe leather , the veg was just warm , and the scampi was too crisp on the outside and soggy batter on the inside . The sweet trolley was just a mess , bits of this and bits of that , and the girl who served it was so uninterested she might not of been there ! A really disappointing lunch , and for nigh on £260 it left a nasty taste in ones mouth . Basically I think they hadn’t got the staff to cope with such numbers as it was very busy , and apart from one older lady who was pleasant and efficient the staff were kids who were not bothered at all . Sadly , I’m afraid we would think twice about returning .

After a lot of my friends and family saying this place was lovely I decided to go here with my husband for my birthday meal. We were seated in a separate room as the place was pretty full, it was nice and quiet until a rowdy family with kids came in. A family came in 10-15 mins after us and there order was taken straight away whilst we were still waiting the waitress seemed to know this family by the way she was talking to them I found it really unprofessional of her to bypass us. Eventually we ordered food, We both had vegetable soup to start which was nice, I had beef dinner and my partner had turkey. If I’m honest the main wasn’t nice at all when it comes out them basically plate it up for you in front of you and it was very basic food bit like something you’d get in hospital, beef was extremely fatty and potatoes and Yorkshire pudding were burnt to a crisp. After the dessert trolley came out there wasn’t much left to choose from but we both took some dime bar cheesecake away with us which was actually nice! Overall I feel like we wasted our money and wish I’d went somewhere nicer for my birthday.

Just to say this is a hidden treasure and was such a treat to dine there with a large group of friends. The hotel/restaurant was pre booked for a group of mainly silver surfers and wayward crafters on our annual away day this time to Keswick. We stopped off at the White Heather for lunch we had already decided on our two course menu. The restaurant was so clean, the drinks were a very reasonable price there were many non alcoholic drinks at the bar, and those who had a tipple said the prices were good. How many of them returned for a second tipple I can not tell but there were a few old dears that were over jolly! The waitresses were wonderful and nothing was a problem.. as for the food...just wonderful! My mum and I chose the roast beef which was lovely and tender, hand carved with a variety of hot veg. Some had the steak pie, some had haddock and a couple of the waist watchers had salad. Not one person was disappointed with their main course. Then came the sweet trolley which was piled with calories of all delights plus a fruit cocktail for the sensible ones. I had raspberry pavlova mum had trifle, my friend asked and was given two different sweets on the same plate, and even our wonderful Methodist Minister gave in to temptation and followed suite. Topped off with wonderful hot fresh coffee or tea. Plenty of good fayre all round, not one complaint! We were all sad to leave the White Heather and it is a place to remember and hopefully visit again.

Have eaten here a few times but this time was not as good unfortunately. We were a booked table of seven, including two children. A busy Sunday would obviously mean it would not be a fast service however we were not in a rush. We waited over half an hour before chasing a waitress to place our order, our main course arrived and we were offered mint sauce, cranberry sauce etc which never actually arrived. We then had to wait for over an hour to place our sweet order. There was an obvious lack of enough staff to cope. At no point did any staff member come and ask if we needed anything else during our meal and we were not offered coffee. The delays in the service meant that the children in our party were getting bored and rowdy, while the waitress was busy wrapping up other tables doggy bags.

Don't get me wrong when you eventually do get your food it's very nice but it would be even better if you could get it a bit quicker. That is why I have only rated it three stars for the service. Forgot to mention the price is now £18 a head for your three course meal.

Large dining rooms, well stocked bars providing excellent service and the very best quality of local food served at "farmers" quantities. Booking essential for Sundays to get your preferred time and advisable on Wednesdays for Senior Citizen's lunches. Always very busy keeping the serving staff on their toes. My Brother in Law, when up from Kent, insists on dining in the White Heather and as usual there will be seven of us again this week. This is a very popular place and with good reason - loads of parking, huge dining room, huge portions, prompt service and very reasonably priced. But, you get what you pay for - a set menu with nice meat but overcooked vegetables, chips with everything, bland gravy - just what you'd expect for a place geared up for mass catering. A sweet trolley laden with creamy offerings, tea and coffee finish off the meal. The dining room is like a barn and lacks atmosphere, service is quite good but impersonal and aimed at getting plated food out as fast as possible. Lots of folk love it but it isn't for me.

I had lunch today at the White Heather, my grandad said he would take us out for dinner, this was good because they go there regularly and always say it is good, i thought this would suit me because i like plain simplistic food, or good old English grub! I was most DISAPPOINTED when i arrived and the food was laid down in front of me. I ordered roast beef (as did the rest of my table) and although it arrived fairly quickly, i was amazed, as i am a northerner i like 'reet big portions like' i was presented with about 5 slices of paper thin beef (which was nothing special either), 1 roast potato, 1 yorkshire pudding, peas,tomato......yes TOMATO, with beef and gravy, and finally a garnish of cress. Well then the other vegetables arrived, which consisted of carrots that had not been peeled and boiled potato's, which were swimming in a oily lake of starchy water. I then started my meal, trying to find away around a plate that was no bigger than 25cm diameter. Then to top off the meal, about a five stein bag of tatties had been made into chips and were piled into this serving dish. After i had finished my meal by negotiating my way around the plate i had to wait about 30 minutes for the staff to realise we had finished, we then were shown the desert trolley, where there was numerous options of pudding, and this was very good, a nice end to the meal! I would not recommend this, I like my roast with proper trimmings, about 3 or 4 roast potatoes, 2 yorkshires, carrots, mash, swede and carrots, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower etc. But the most important part is the beef, although it tasted a mediocre, OK i would thoroughly recommend my local, They Greyhound Inn, Cotehill, you get substantial meat of about half an inch thick a slice with all the trimmings for a very reasonable price! I will not be rushing back here!Infact i will probably never go back!!

With the venue I keep expecting Barry Potter to pop out in his wheelchair. Always clean and tidy. When it comes to value for money, this is the place to visit. I always eat way too much, it's like a man vs food challenge. I'm always defeated haha. Portions are amazing, food is like a home cooked roast and rice pudding that is delicious! Great place.

This review is in no way connected to the quality of the food here because it is always top notch.Booked a table for 2 at 13.30, arrived 13.25, after waiting longer than acceptable to be served at the bar I was asked to wait in the waiting area. 45 minutes later still no table and I was starting to get irritated, even more so when I witnessed two separate parties walking in without having booked and getting seated at tables straight away. Was I wrong to be annoyed? After pointing out the problem it was clear that we had been FORGOTTEN about well I am sorry but I am a coach driver and I don't just FORGET to collect my passengers, because it would be unprofessional, just like it is unprofessional for you to forget to feed your customers!!I decided to leave and was offered some food by way of an apology, wait for it.....to take with us??NO THANKS, I decided to eat out today for a reason and as it happened by the time we got away everywhere else that is half decent had finished serving food so it was back home for cheese on toast for Sunday lunch.I am not blaming the young lady behind the bar for this, she was left on her own and clearly under pressure, she was very apologetic for what had happened but had you got your front of house in order this need not have happened, she was clearly in need of help and direction. Thanks White Heather for spoiling what little time I get to spend with my partner, it will be a very long time before I return. If I could have given you a zero rating I would have, I suppose you deserve the one I gave you for not taking money off me for the drinks!!

We had a fantastic Sunday lunch here. Huge slices of thickly cut beef which covered nearly all the plate, large dish of veg and all the extras. The sweet trolley was a pudding lovers dream, lots of creamy gorgeous concoctions with hot puddings also available. Friendly and fast service in spite of being very busy indeed, we were glad we had booked. One of the best Sunday lunches we have ever had. Massive portions in a lovely dining room. Don't think we will be able to eat any more today. Will be going back very soon.

We frequently go to the White Heather for for a Sunday dinner. They do a number of sittings on a Sunday so best to take their advice on timing your booking. Service is always excellent and friendly. They do silver service of the main courses which is unusual but very pleasant. Huge portions of carved meats and masses of veg. A good selection of other meals. Always happy to go back.

15 of us recently went for a family birthday. Meal was delicious, I'm particularly found of their cider sauce, toy get loads & the price can't be beaten. 3 courses for £15. They also let you take your pudding home if you can't eat it at the time. This place is a family favourite

I am a member of a ladies group who have been taking coach parties here at least once a year for about 8 years. Never once have we been disappointed and keep returning because, despite trying other hotels , this is the only place where we can guarantee that the only complaint will be that there is too much to eat. The staff are extremely pleasant and helpful ,the service is excellent and the food is always cooked to perfection. There is a good choice of starters and main courses and a fabulous range of sweets which I doubt could be bettered anywhere..Excellent value for money and despite only visiting yeaterday we are looking forward to a return visit.

Was here tonight for a meal to celebrate my mam's birthday. Booked the table for 7pm, arrived 5 minutes early as you do. Waited 10 minutes to get served at the bar as only one person behind the bar. Got served and shown to our table and then we waited and we waited and we waited to have out order taken, I eventually went to the bar 35 minutes later to ask if they would come to take our order. We eventually got our starter at 7.50pm. The starter was also a disappointment as the garlic mushrooms doesn't come with toast or anything and neither does the pâté! You do get roll's on the table but we were that Hungary we had demolished them well before we got the starter but I was surprised the pâté didn't come with toast, we did mention this and they brought some. Overall you do get value for your money but as the heading states order your table earlier than you wish to eat otherwise you will be eating the table leg.

This place holds no bars when it comes to Sunday Lunch. It is recommended you book in advance as it does get very very busy. The staff are very keen to help and serve food very promptly. The meats are tender and you get far too much on your plate, all your meal is brought on a silver platter and you really do get the whole Sunday works and then some,it does not matter what meat you order it falls apart from the fork and is cooked to perfection-the guys or gals doing the cooking here know a thing or two about traditional Sunday Roasts!Went here with a large family group and the desserts are also very very 'moreish' I will be back again and again,it's a great afternoon out too when the weather is nice with the nice lawns outside to sit out in and catch some sun.Fab.

Food is brilliant and 3 course meal for 15! Most of the staff are young, very pleasant but still learning. Service can sometimes be slow and if you don't like noisy atmospheres, avoid functions.

What a lovely restaurant with fabulous food and great staff. We were staying close by and had seen great reviews about the restaurant so we had to try it….not just once but two nights in a row it was that good. On the first night my husband had lamb shoulder which was cooked to perfection and fell off the bone, I had salmon and prawns which were equally as good. The second night it was seafood platter for my husband and sweet and sour chicken for me. Both meals were very good and it was great to have so much to choose from. It was a pleasant change to be able to choose the accompaniment to the meals rather than just chips with salad or veg. The staff were very attentive and polite. All in all it was a great experience and would definitely recommend this restaurant.

The festive lunch was ordered by all. Firstly the food for the most part was enjoyed by all 4 pax. However service was lacking both in care and in speed. A set 3 course lunch took 2.5 hours to complete. Dishes were delivered to table without suitable cutlery, serving tray left on the table, 3 pax finished their desserts before the 4th pax received theirs. Waiting staff had to be called for as they passed by, as all, except one, just ignored checking the table meal progress. It appears there is a shortage of staff, but in that case restrict the number of reservations to a level which can be coped with. That said the Brasserie was only a quarter occupied.
