Was a shame have been following on instagram and looked amazing the reality was diffent brought a cambert starter to share was tiny smaller than in shop and was so overcooked was hardly and cheese in it Then the dinner was drowned in gravey loads of carrots two yes two roast potatoes and the lamb roll was 90 percent fat and the cauliflower cheese was awful. Was a waste of 75 pound

Friendly oldy world pub in the country with helpful staff

We had a lovely meal here yesterday evening for my daughter’s birthday. The staff are really friendly and the food was delicious. It’s also not expensive, like most of the other pubs in the area. The kids all loved their meals too. Thanks and see you again soon!

I am not one for adding reviews but I have had hundreds of roast dinners all over the place from very expensive and not expensive I try a new place every Sunday and this is the best roast dinner I have ever eaten so far I started to think that I might never find one until today please keep the great work up and don’t change any think with the roast will be back 100%

Made the journey from East London as heard great things and we wasn’t disappointed, I opted for the Pie of the day which was Lamb Pea & Mint and I can honestly say it probably was the nicest pie I have ever had!!! And that is a big statement considering I’m in my 60s, my wife opted for the Prawn Linguine and absolutely loved it, desserts are out of this world ~ all in all it was a fantastic lunch, service was fantastic and the price was so reasonable I had check my bill!! Well done White Hart 👍

Went with a couple of friends and had the Christmas meal Turkey, it was a lovely meal, good service, lovely atmosphere, very much enjoyed the evening, will go again soon.

Great Essex pub with nice food and countryside surroundings. Also dog friendly, which is a bonus and good walks close by. I have visited many times, and every time i come away thinking how much i really love this place. It's not only good food but good value too. I can see why it wins awards as it really does stand out for a lot of other places.

Appears like a lovely, remote and popular restaurant and pub. A thriving and lively place in a hamlet of Essex. Reviews almost overwhelmingly positive - probably almost all from the (very) locals. Yet, its not my experience. I felt let down, humiliated and deeply disappointed. Food good, service mixed but attentive sums it up well, management....well, what, what management. Locals, helpful yes, friendly, no. I feel I'll be the but of their jokes until the next gullible muppet walks through their doors... For those that remember the original Werewolf in London...(set in a Yorkshire pub) - add a restaurant that garners outsiders with a small wary look and I think you have it. Opinions aside, lets state some facts. From the reviews, this is a popular restaurant pub (I don't like term gastro pub and this doesn't apply anyway) put it is in a remote village with a tiny car park. It does offer an 'overflow' carpark and never has a term been so aptly suited. Upon entering it's next to a river and seems to serve as both a farming entrance to another field and an idyllic summer spot (during the summer). However, in December upon entry looks like a designed flood plain judging by the drop from road level and I was the only person to venture in on a Sunday afternoon at dusk. The result, the first time my car has ever been stuck in mud. After 30 mins of myself and later my brother in law couldn't get us out. I mentioned this to the bar staff, the first comment, optimistically, was, "perhaps it will dry out soon" - I still love this comment - but in truth, I'd doubt this would happen until Easter at the earliest....their is no mobile service but they offered access to their landline if we needed it....No mobile access, but my sister could access their wi-fi (I couldn't) Later a server said the management would be arriving in 30 mins and could help sort it. Later still, a server said some locals could pull us out, when we finished so I took them up on their offer. They were polite but curt. Resolved the issue with no fuss then disappeared. I finished up with my meal. A few moments later a server arrived at our table and rather abruptly or flusteredly, I cannot tell which, asked rather aggressively if I would like to buy them a drink. I responded positively immediately. They accepted, curtly again, clearly embarrassed or just not trying not to be rude in accepting my thanks (I suspect the former more than the latter) but either way clearly not wanting to have any conversation. And that was it. We paid up, made a generous tip to the bill. The chaps made a passing comment as I left, it felt half in jest, half insult and management offered....nothing. I can understand legally about accepting responsibility for an unfortunate event that I feel they were aware of before, during and after but I didn't get anything from them. Nothing. I'm not after a free meal, or a drink (or two), or even a free dry cleaning bill after tramping through mud, or a free car wash. But something, anything, would have helped me feel like a valued customer - or even a customer, I left not appreciating the meal, the company, the venue. I just felt used. I'm no snowflake but it just felt like it was my fault and I was the inconvenience. A week later and that feeling remains. My final opinion - I respect a restaurant that has autonomy. That thinks on it's feet, that deals with most issues. I think this shows management has respect of its staff and they have trust. However, when staff mention management then management are involved - like it or not. When management wash their hands, let their staff clear up their crappy mess, expect their staff to ask patrons to pay locals rather than themselves and don't even have the self respect to even face their (non-local) patrons then you get the impression that they may be having a bad day (I've had many over the past few months hence a family meal) or they really don't give a crap. IMHO, it is clearly the latter and I will never go to this 'destination pub'. There are much better, much more accessible, pleasant places with better service.

So long since I had visited the White Hart I was a little uncertain about what our lunch date with friends would bring. A friendly welcome at the bar quickly set any qualms aside. Our table in the restaurant was plenty large enough for four and we were given plenty of time to review the menu. There was a good value set menu (from which we could, we were quickly told, depart if we wished). For the two vegetarians there was one dish on the set menu, and a pasta and two burgers (one of them vegan) to choose from the a la carte. Keen to leave room for dessert, we opted straight away to begin with a main course (two macaroni cheeses, one fish and chips (hake?), and Cumberland sausages. Avoiding a starter meant a longer wait for the mains, but all of us agreed the wait was worth it. Desserts were also very good for the three of us who had the capacity, although the bread and butter pudding was not quite as expected (possibly using brioche rather than the traditional white bread. Surprisingly the only draught beer was the ubiquitous Doom Bar. Perhaps the management might consider one of the many good Essex beers and slash the food miles? That apart, a delicious and satisfying lunch, a welcoming atmosphere and friendly, attentive, service. Entrance to the car park is steep - wouldn't like to attempt it in my Ferrari (if I had one).

Great Sunday lunch. Very accommodating for allergies/preferences. But mains were slow in coming and had to wait for the bill. But will go back.

Terrible staff/owner booked for a family birthday booked weeks before then when weekmof birthday cancelled saying they could get more money letting diners in than our booking, they took deposit and had to wait to get it back as machine not working so had to drive there to collect it and no apologises apart from come in will buy you a drink - disgusting !!!!!

Mum and I visited this beautuful pub very spontaneously for my birthday lunch whilst we were in the area. We managed to arrive just in time for lunch (kitchen closes at 3pm). The staff were so lovely, warm and welcoming and it really was service with a smile! The food we ordered was utterly scrumptious! We had the homemade bread with salted butter and olive oil and balsamic vinegar for starters! Then I ordered lamb rump with feta mash with roasted Mediterranean vegetables and homemade gravy. Everything was DELICIOUS!! Mum had scampi, chips and salad! No room for dessert unfortunately! I would thoroughly recommend this pub.. such a cosy gem of a place! Thank you to the smiley staff!

I have been many times and as always food is delicious. Attentionate waitresses, pleasant and engaging with customers. The restaurant area is spacious and the atmosphere is lovely. Orders come quickly and portions are copious. Food is always good and plentiful. I recommend.

This lovely traditional village pub is set in an attractive rural setting. There is a large carpark with outside seating too. The pub is divided into several very attractive small rooms for eating. The service was very professional and friendly. The food and presentation excellent.

Moreton is spoilt with 2 outstanding pubs, but The White Hart wins hands down with its ambiance, friendly staff and value for money menu. We celebrated our son's 21st birthday this weekend. 12 family members were seated in a private room, to the right of the bar - with its own bar, toilet and access to the outside area. The menu options were superb and priced very reasonably. The food quality was excellent. The staff are really helpful and happy. Nothing was too much trouble. We were allowed access to the room early Saturday to dress the room with banners, balloons, table decorations etc. Our overall experience was superb. A great choice to host a milestone event. Lovely location, venue, food and value. Thank you so much. We will be back (next to experience your Seafood Tuesdays!).

This was my favorite place for dinner during my stay in Moreton in Marsh. The roast chicken with potatoes is to die for. I actually went back a second time for the same dish! The atmosphere is so cozy as well!

Lovely and welcoming. The chef must be 5 star creating delicious Sunday roasts with a truly home cooked detail. On one of the hottest Sundays the pub was cool enough inside to enjoy our food. We visited here for a family birthday for a Sunday roast. The staff were all so friendly and welcoming and very attentive. The food was good too. Really nice roast and the mushroom crumpet to start is amazing!! We sat inside which was lovely and cosy but they have a great outdoor seating area.

What a gem, having read the reviews we decided to ride over and see for ourselves! We were not disappointed greeted by Angie who was so lovely as we explained it’s our first visit , we sat outside on the decking everywhere was lovely and clean. The food was lovely, we tried the 3 small plates for £20 the Ribs were amazing then enjoyed a Meat feast flatbread . Amazing food , great service and the staff are friendly and very helpful. I live down the road from this pub, I haven’t been since the new owners and I must say one of the most amazing dinners! For a pub everything was spot on! We just had a family dinner and I never do reviews but this place deserves it. Fabulous dinner, thank you. Will be back!

Lovely Sunday roast, good beer garden

I’m so glad we’ve discovered this pub as it is now going to be our go-to for a roast! The atmosphere is wonderful, it’s beautifully decorated and the staff were just amazing! The roast was the best I’ve ever had. We both had the all meat roast and both agreed it was flawless. We don’t even live locally, but will be making the hour long drive often now! We will definitely be back. It was also very reasonably priced! Including the drinks too. 10/10

I visited for a Sunday roast with some friends and we were all very pleased. Food was fantastic, the service was lovely and we really enjoyed the laid back atmosphere outside. Absolutely loved the citronella incense brought to the table to keep wasps etc away. Great idea! Will definitely be recommending to others.

We eat here regularly and keep coming back because of the service, atmosphere and food. The staff are always welcoming, the food absolutely excellent (the chicken, mushroom & leek pie on the menu currently is outstanding!). Nothing is too much trouble for the team to adjust dishes for allergies or minor swaps.

Very friendly place, lovely surroundings and dog friendly too. The food was excellent and it was seafood Tuesday so my husband was very happy. He had the seafood platter which was huge, smoked salmon, rollmop, mussels, crayfish tails, large shell on prawns, cockles, peeled prawns and French bread and dips, all for £25. We was served by a lovely lady called Tammy (I think). I had scampi and chips which was lovely. I would certainly recommend this place. We will go back perhaps for Sunday lunch.

What a fantastic pub! We travelled over from London after hearing a glowing review from a friend. We arrived as a party of 7 which included our 91 year old grandma, my dad who has a brain injury and a baby. The staff could not have been more accommodating and allowed us to go through the staff area so that they didn’t have to walk far. The service was impeccable. Polite, fast and they were even interacting with our baby. What can I even say about the food? I always have to slum it as a vegetarian with a sub par roast but this roast was delicious. Definitely the best vegetarian roast I’ve ever had. The nut roast was flavourful and delicious - something that is rarely found. The others thoroughly enjoyed their meat and said that it was tender and flavourful. Even the 91 year old who complains about absolutely everything couldn’t find a fault in her fish and chips. I am not usually a dessert kind of girl but I couldn’t resist after seeing the menu. I had a sticky toffee pudding for dessert which was fantastic. My mum said that the pineapple upside down cake bought her back to her childhood! Great all over and we will certainly be back :) xx

Came to the white hart for my partners 60th, we had the lovely snug/ function room which is decorated so nicely and has a great feel , I was able to pop in during the day to put some decs up and leave a cake and nothing was too much trouble , we arrived and from then on our food and service was fantastic staff were so attentive even though we were prob a pain ordering so many drinks! The waitresss and of course Joe were fabulous!! Our food was so good !!( mushroom crumpet was a big hit ) Highly recommended the pub and food in general but especially using the private room !! Thank you White hart a great birthday celebration with plenty of sore heads the next day !!!

This pub was kind enough to hold a fundraising event/quiz night for my place of work. Stunning country pub in a beautiful location, lots of spacious rooms and above all, the friendliest staff and most welcoming atmosphere. We raised a great amount thanks to the generous locals - and their hospitality was outstanding. The food was delicious and I will definitely be returning here very soon. Would highly recommend. THIS PlACE IS A HIDDEN GEM. I live in OZ & am visiting my parents in essex. I googled & found this Place & boy o boy we was not disappointed. From the first phone call talking with Natalie. She was kind courteous & very professional from the word go. Advised us that it was seafood Tuesday & that suited us fine, especially me dad who is a cockney. When we arrived the stunning scenery blew us away. We was shown to our table & drinks where ordered straight away, which arrived within mins. Tanya (hope I got the name right) took our order. The food arrived within 15 mins. Presentation, quantity, and quality was perfect 10/10. We all cleared our plates & left nothing (had too stop me dad from licking his plate 🙄🤣 We will Definitely be back ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Been here twice in three weeks now and both occasions the food and service have been great. The roast had a nice range of veg and sides and the meat was superb. Tonight's Seafood platter was lovely and again, great portion size. Staff was friendly and the owner came and said "Hi" which was a nice touch to.

This is a traditional pub in a beautiful village and built in the 1600's. The food is typical pub food and good. Sunday lunch is very good value.

Proper Sunday Roast! I had the four meats roast. Not only was the meal flavoursome but the veg was cooked perfectly, and including cabbage, was a plus point for me. Big ole Yorkshire & a big meal all round. Good service, too. Thoroughly recommended.

Excellent service and excellent food. The pub itself has a very warm welcome. The food is excellent value with the quality being exceptional. From burgers and pies to amazing sandwiches. I had the pork belly sandwich which was sublime. The service was also excellent and felt waited on hand and foot. A little gem of a pub and a must visit for anyone in the local area. Very disappointed with the roast dinner, lamb was so chewy unbelievable cheapest bit of lamb I've ever had I think, 4 thin slices of carrot, literally 4 small pieces of cabbage the roast potatoes were not crispy abit soggy and food was swimming in cheap salty gravy without being asked maybe I don't like gravy it was just terrible for £17 was shocking won't be eating a roast here again sadly but the staff were very nice.

1/1/23 A very clean Pub/Restaurant. Plenty of choice on the menu. Our food was well cooked, hot and nicely presented. We on had two courses we couldn't manage a third. Very reasonable prices.
