Great place, great food, busy but nice atmosphere. But gutted no more plant based breakfast ☹️. A lesson in impermanance Will miss you. Thanks for all the coffee grounds 😊

We enjoyed a lovely light lunch at Fred & Doug's in Epping. The café is nicely decorated, with a comfortable and pleasant atmosphere. We especially enjoyed the smashed avocado on sourdough with smoked salmon and eggs. Well recommended 😎

Top notch Veggie breakfast. And the coffee is always great. Update: Still awesome, had a great lunch. Still good veggie options.

Good food although slightly limited options. Also a little pricey. That said, staff friendly and efficient. It is dog friendly which is very important to me.

Local gem, if you live nearby this is a must for brunch. Really delicious beetroot hummus, coffee is top notch. Service was friendly even when they were super busy when I visited.

Had a beautiful breakfast here to set us up for a day's wandering in Epping Forest! Food was fantastic with generous portions for the price and the service was friendly and fast!! No complaints at all, except there were a lot of children and it wasn't exactly peaceful, but I certainly cannot hold that against the staff or the restaurant. All-in-all a lovely experience and well worth a visit!!

Coffee was fantastic and the breakfast largely very good. However disappointing to receive burnt bacon and no one came to check on food. Breakfast still very tasty.

Very disappointed today, I always rave about my trips to Fred and Doug’s but today was not a good advert, very little on our plates and mine in particular I love mushrooms but there was just one large one not cooked well and tasteless. A very different visit to other times when I have been. With a bill for £34. 10 too expensive for the amount on the plate.

Great coffee and brunch on Epping High Street. I often stop here for a delicious coffee and a brownie when I have time. I feel comfortable breastfeeding and reading my book at Fred & Doug’s - perfect spot!

The only word to describe this establishment is 💥BANGING💥 The food 🤤🤤🤤 "the bruncher" The coffee ☕ 🙌🏻 I'm lost for words. If you've not been just go you won't regret it!

This small cafe always delivers on quality and service. When ordering the staff are super friendly and inviting. I would say some of the lunches are slightly overpriced but you know that you will always get quality when coming here. Cakes, coffees and food are all great.

Food here is always delicious, with great choices whether you're a meat eater, vegetarian, or vegan. The coffee tastes divine as well as the fresh orange juice, and I would highly recommend you visit, I can guarantee you'll want to go back.

Expensive but worth it. Tastiest breakfast I have had in a long time. (Avocado & Egg on toast with truffle oil) Definitely going back.

Luke warm food, that’s not freshly cooked, when raised with staff, a new portion came out within 2 minutes - still like warm, rubbery where it has been sitting there for hours.

Fairly good value for money and place but the food was ok, nothing amazing. Nice people and efficient service though.

We had a great breakfast at F&D this morning. It’s looking fresh after the refurb. The coffee is second to none and I would highly recommend The Saf to eat - delicious as ever!!

Wow..... what an experience! A colleague and I heard whispers that a boujee cafe nearby had just had a revamp, so decided to see what all the fuss was about ourselves. As soon as we walked through the door, we were instantly greeted by a warm smile as we were escorted to our seats. As we gandered over the menu, we were struck by some overwhelming prices. However, as you can see by the picture provided, this is justified by the monstrous amount of food in each serving. I opted for the 'club', and must admit, I was swept off my feet. A bed of crunchy sourdough gets mounted by fresh avocado, succulent salad, some beautifully crisp bacon, topped of with some chicken covered in sesame seeds. A perfectly cooked boiled egg gets halved and placed at either end of the bread, then it's finished with their spicy mayo, which tied the entire dish together flawlessly. My colleague was almost in tears by the end of his. All in all, I had a great experience in a stunning establishment which oozes class, and will definitely be returning. Not too happy with a £3 san pellegrino though :(

Had a great breakfast here with some pals. Seems to be a good haunt for mums in the area. I had a decaf mocha and the granola, both tasted amazing. If I had to complain, I did have to ask for my coffee, but the team made up for it in taste.

Once a month we visit Epping only to go to Fred & Doug’s We are both 80 years old but make sure we visit Fred @ Doug’s for lunch the food and the service are first class and not expensive

Had an amazing breakfast at Fred & Dougs, there was a short wait to be seated as I visited at a busy time, the staff kept us informed and made us feel welcomed while we waited.. the food was delicious, great coffee, friendly staff.. Will definitely go back

One of the best full English breakfasts I’ve had. Very nice presentation, with bright orange egg. Everything on the plate was delicious, the tomato perfectly cooked. If I’m being picky I would have preferred more charring on the bacon and sausage but they were delicious anyway. I also would have liked black pudding but not sure if it’s on the menu. The butter and toast were very good as well. Nice outdoor seating and friendly service.

I had a really great visit to Fred and Doug this week. The vegan breakfast is good and I’m always impressed by latte art in non-dairy milks. The staff were friendly and the food arrived fairly quickly and was really well presented. I will definitely be back.

Coffee was fantastic! Service was good, when 14 cyclists turned up, they were very accommodating and very reasonable prices too!

What can I say! What a little gem I have found in Epping High Road! Lovely welcoming staff, great service and above all fantastic food! I had the Dougs Dish (full English) I couldn’t fault it great fresh ingredients cooked to perfection. I would definitely recommend you pay them a visit (opposite the old Barclays Bank)

We absolutely love coming here for the truffle avo, it’s quite simply the best brunch dish I’ve had for a long while in the U.K. you get a sense of the Aussie brunch scene in here and it works perfectly. The staff are always so lovely and welcoming and the coffee always hits the spot!

Incredible coffee and amazing food. Perfect spot for some breakfast with friends (furry ones too as it’s dog friendly🐶). I had the smashed avocado on toast which was delicious and the atmosphere was nice and relaxed.

Love that they have vegan options, the coffee always tastes that little bit special and the staff are always happy to see you which makes my day.

Unfussy , well prepared, swift friendly service

Myself and daughter had breakfast this morning we have been there more than a few times. Today wasn't good fatty bacon underdone eggs even though we had asked for med to hard. Toast cold . We were really looking forward to our breakfast but came out thinking what a water of money . It could be its bank holiday but standards have dropped.

I usually only ever give good reviews, but a complete lack of customer relations have put me off this place. FB messaged them twice in the past to ask about serving times for breakfast etc., - never received any reply given there is actually no other way to contact them because their website had some sort of security risk and the phone number is not in service. (As it happened we went a bit further out to the wonderful Ashlyn's where they did an amazing breakfast). Messaged recently to find out if my partner had left something in the shop and to find out if I could just dash in and pick it up when next I came to Epping but no reply at all - It was only a small thing but it was ignorant not to reply (no matter how busy, and they were not busy at the time). What if it had been something more important? Simple courtesies go a long way. Have only had coffee and cake there - both ok, but forgettable. Cakes were really all sugar no flavour.

I wanted to try this little place out whilst in Epping for a morning. It's cute, cosy and intimate. I had to wait fifteen minutes or so for a table for one as it was a little busy as I guess it's quite a popular place. Service was quick, I had a delicious vanilla and chai late and beetroot hummus with poached egg and avocado on sourdough toast which was really good. The food is really fresh, they're using good quality ingredients. I also picked up a couple of cakes to takeaway for later and these were really great too. Staff are friendly and polite.

I don't live in Epping but was over on business very early on Sunday morning. Was hoping to find a cafe open early for breakfast, luckily Fred & Dougs was open at 8am 👍🏼 Great little cafe. Fab scrambled eggs on toast and great coffee. Would be a regular customer if I lived nearer. Lovely to chat to the owner James Would 100% recommend a visit to Fred & Dougs 👍🏼

You're in a high street cafe, it's never going to have oodles of space. It is indeed small with tables close together.. but that's exactly what creates the atmosphere. Everyone is happy to be there because the service, coffee, food and decor are second to none. Sitting so close to like minded people who feel the way you do about the establishment only makes it better!

Great coffee and friendly arrival however they had ran out of Smoked salmon and we were left waiting with 2 hungry children for 45 mins before anyone even approached us. Then we were told they had to go out to get some salmon. Our food still took another 20/30 mins to arrive. In the meantime my husband had to move the car and actually missed his food arriving at the table. No apology, nothing offered to apologise. Really disappointed family day out lunch. Shame as it’s not the cheapest or the nicest brunch we have had.

I had sourdough toast, but I'm not a big fan, this was the best I've had. Service was very good but it is very busy and popular. So either expect to wait to sit inside or sit outside like we did. Other food looked very nice.

I met a friend for coffee here this week, Epping is a half way point for both of us and what a little find. Friendly staff, good food to order and delicious cakes (Banana Cake with caramel & cream...!) and not over priced which was a bonus! It was clean, modern and comfortable - and seems to be very popular too as it was full up the whole time! Will go back for sure!

Good tasting strong coffee, if that's your thing. It was very busy when I went so don't expect to get a table that easily on a Saturday.

After walking the high street fred & doug looked the best, so glad we stopped in! Beautifully decorated, simple with a few tables. Cakes were delicious 🎂 I don't normally like my hot chocolate in a glass but it was perfect temperature so I was able to pick up, so chocolatey, just perfect! Friendly staff and can't wait to come back!

Delicious salmon wrap and fantastic coffee, topped off with a stinger of a ginger shot, made for the perfect midway break in our hike. Would absolutely recommend and will definitely return.

Lovely little cafe that’s dog friendly. I took my dog and hamster (coming home from a road trip) and the staff welcomed us all. The pesto, tomato and mozzarella toastie was lovely

Great space, great coffee and beautifully prepared and presented food with friendly service. We live in Australia and the place has a real Melbourne city vibe (if you’ve ever visited Melbourne, you’ll know this amid a very good thing!) Definitely recommended.

Visit every day to get a coffee around lunchtime. Staff are great and personable, food is fantastic if you want some brunch bits; cakes are also delicious. In my opinion the best coffee in Epping. It’s popular though - and rightly so - so you might have to wait for a table.

It’s very nice in here very busy the toast and coffee very nice but we thought it was very expensive There are lots of Coffee Shops along this High St so they do have a lot of competition but we can get Coffee and Toast for much less the price at some of the other coffee shops up the road

Really nice trendy and boutique café. The food is presented beautifully and there's a nice selection. The staff are lovely. There's seating inside and outside and in the afternoon the seats are in the sun. I've been a few times now and never been disappointed. Would recommend.

We came here on the new year bank holiday and had to wait 20 mins for a table, we were dubious to start with, however we didn’t regret waiting one bit. The waitresses were friendly and attentive despite the cafe being very busy. Our food was wonderful. The halloumi melted in the mouth, the sourdough toasted perfectly. I ordered a soya flat white and when it arrived, the milk was curdling, the waitress swapped it for me with no hassle, which I really appreciated. Would definitely recommend going and will return if in the area.

Brilliant staff helped us get three mums and their buggies in to have a coffee and chat! Lovely sandwiches. Wish the delicious chai latte came in a bigger cup!! Can't wait to go back.

Brilliant little cafe with lovely staff, incredible food and lovely drinks. Chicken club open sandwich was probably one of the nicest I've ever had, along with some really nice freshly squeezed orange juice and an incredibly smooth latte.

Absolutely highly recommended. We visited this place yesterday for breakfast and was not disappointed whatsoever. Very friendly team, that had made us feel very welcome. I had family members with me that had just landed from Portugal and had their first English breakfast, and this was the right place, the food was absolutely amazing, freshly cooked, very tasty and I got to point out that the bacon was marvellous like everything else obviously. Thank you all for the hospitality and delicious food too. Definitely will visit again when I am down the area.

Have been to Fred & Doug's once before and really enjoyed our breakfast so decided to stop here again last Sunday. This visit was just as good. The staff are all friendly and courteous and know what they are doing and there is a good menu selection to choose from. This place gets very, very busy so either get there early or be prepared to wait - we were lucky that a table in the window became available soon after we arrived. We were advised that our food may take 40mins to arrive as they were so busy but I think that it was delivered in closer to 20-25mins which was fine ...we weren't in any rush. Both meals were cooked and presented really well and we felt that the portion sizes were perfectly adequate and, for the high quality of the ingredients and presentation, that the price represented good value for money. We look forward to our next visit and recommend Fred & Dougs to others.

fred's breakfast was great but i thought the portions were a bit small. The atmosphere of the cafe was good. It was a pleasant breakfast.
