Ate here twice over a weekend. On Friday night and Sunday lunch. The food was delicious and very well presented. On the Friday they did a %off for locals and half price on fish and chips which was enormous. The staff are so friendly. Highly recommend here for food.

Very friendly staff. Excellent food. Nice decor. Reasonable prices. Our waitress was lovely. My husband and I visited on a Saturday evening. We chose Jambon and Manchego croquettes, with black garlic ketchup. Hubby had Baron Brigod and shallot custard tart. Then we both chose beer battered haddock and chips and peas puree. Followed by the White Hart rich chocolate bar dessert with toffee popcorn, salted peanuts and raspberry sorbet. All washed down with a pint of Adnams Ale and an Adnams Wild Wave cider. Very pleasant throughout. Would recommend. As mentioned earlier, the service we received (from waitress Ivana) was very friendly and attentive.

Lovely traditional English pub with a great country atmosphere. Can’t hear the road from inside and generally lovely!

We popped in for a late lunch and ordered a club sandwich each. We couldn’t have been happier: it was made with REAL SOURDOUGH. It’s so unusual to find anywhere serving real bread, so 10/10 for that. The sandwich had lots of warm chicken and bacon, with tomatoes, lettuce and mayo. My husband was delighted with his pint of Adnams. Lovely staff too.

Great pub, good beer and wine selection. We ate there both nights, had a delicious roast, with delicious vegetables, and good fish and chips. Staff were lovely, helpful and the room had a lovely view to wake up to. Room was extremely clean and comfortable. Southwold a 5 minute drive away, lovely to come back to the pub and chill!

Popped in last minute for Saturday lunch confident that an Adnams Pub would deliver and was not disappointed. Pleasant atmosphere, happy medium between cosy, trad “horse brass” pub and fresh modern. Great beer and pub grub, not a huge selection but enough. Burger with all the trimmings was juicy and delicious, best chips at least twice-cooked so crispy but still fluffy middle. Battered haddock also very good. Mushy peas actually tasted like peas. Service good. Look forward to going in the summer as large beer garden has lovely vista across the river.

Not much atmosphere. Radio 1 on in background and next to busy A12, they allow dogs but not in restaurant for some strange reason. My single pint of Adnams “Ease Up” was cloudy, cold and not underpriced. Onwards and upwards.

Four of us ate here last Sunday and all had superb meals. I ordered Whitebait to share as a starter because my grandson and granddaughter love fish. It was a tasty experience for them and not enough to spoil our main courses. The staff were polite and attentive. For our main course, three of us ordered the roasted pork and my daughter one of the vegetarian options. The children’s portions for the roasted pork were quite substantial. The meat and vegetables were beautifully cooked. Al dente for the vegetables and a nice piece of crackling on the pork. And, how nice it was to have proper home made gravy, made with the meat juices. A lovely meal and a great beer to wash it down. Well recommended

Lovely spot and the hosts are very friendly and accommodating to our two young children. We ordered venison sausages which were amazing and the burgers weren’t bad ether however the fish wasn’t great and arrived cold. So a mixed bag Would try again.

Really accommodating as we had complicated dietary needs. Great lady at the bar with a wonderful welcoming attitude and the young guy taking orders was very cheerful too. Lovely place. We only really wanted snacks so used the starter menu and sides and had a really delicious lunch. Thank you all. Kitchen staff too. A place to visit for a great meal and coffee. We'll done.

Despite the wonderful setting and delightful building, you would not persuade me to eat here again. The woman behind the bar was unapologetically rude. The woman managing orders was bossy and unfriendly and the food was dire. My husband ordered Partridge and Rossti as a main, it cost £16 but was a minute portion, more suitable as a starter. I ordered what was termed “Peri Peri chicken” what appeared was chicken with little flavour on a bed of rice which was full of black dots. I can only surmise that these may once have been peas, as peas were stated on the menu. The sweetcorn cobs which accompanied it we’re charred and had a weird flavour. Our son ordered roast pork .....he was given one small pork chop. Apparently, the kale on the small portion of veg provided tasted good, but as the meal for three of us cost £55 with drinks, it was an expensive tasty morsel in an otherwise very poor experience. Never again.

We got there early so sat in the beer garden enjoying the sublime view of the river Blyth as the sun set. They weren’t quite open but kindly served us some drinks anyway. Main courses were excellent, two Cromer crab salads and blue cheese gnocchi, each around £13. Side orders of smoked nuts and paprika fries were massive and 3 of us shared them quite happily. I am not really a pudding person but had one to be sociable, a lemon and cardamom posset. Couldn’t taste the cardamom which might have been a good thing. I thought the puddings were dear compared to everything else, and rather on the dainty side. Dogs are allowed in the bar which would have been my preferred seating choice with or without them, with huge “pews” forming comfortable booths. The service was fine overall but perhaps lacked a bit of warmth. Top tip: loo-wise, apparently gents are “fishermen” and ladies “farmers”. I held my breath as I opened the door, but thankfully had deduced correctly.

Booked an overnight stay, which was more expensive than local hotel chains, as more convenient for a family visit. Included breakfast and we also had a fish and chip takeaway. The room was tired, especially the bathroom, and not with the money. Breakfast was better, and whilst freshly cooked, not good as as in the Hilton the day before. Full English was a small plate and some items very greasy. Same was true for the fish and chips. At £10 per head, I would have expected better and tasted like the oil had not been changed for a while. Which tied in with the smell of old cooking oil that we noticed in the room! Which we discovered was coming from a very greasy fan on the kitchen roof.

I am so disappointed, great environment, friendly enough - food shockingly bad. Even now all I can taste is salt!!! Burger undercooked and salty to the extreme. In fairness when we raised this they offered to take the price of one of the burgers of the bill. Such a shame - could be great but reading some of the the other reviews which referenced the salt content of the burger it seems like a common problem. As someone who lives local it’s disheartening that something so simple could be made so bad.

We have eaten here most evenings since arriving and had starters mains and deserts. The manager Sarah is lovely as are the staff who made us feel so welcome and our dog Benji. The menu is very varied and the specials are great ! We did have one meal out of 4 meals each that wasnt as good as normal and the manager went out of her way to assure us it wouldnt happen again. She gave us a complimentary drink as well as changing the whole meal. (Just a poor cut of beef) . We will definately eat here again. We have tried the fish pie the crab thermidor the fish and chips fillet steak and the smoked fish platter all of which we recommend. Sunday roast beef was a bad cut but everything else was fab. So as we look at it 7 meals that are great out of 8 is a great standard. Thankyou for making us feel so welcome and for super meals !! Sue Shaun and Benji !

I dropped in here with my girlfriend at lunch on Monday. We ordered two ploughmans, one cheese (£11.95), one with pork pie (£13.50) and a couple of cokes. What arrived looked splendid! Until we started to eat. Then we discovered that there was practically no *food* on the platter. Chutnies and the like do not feed you. The cheese platter consisted of a single thin slice of very nice bread, cut in half; but very full of holes, so very little food value. Also two thin slices of Suffolk cheese, total weight about an ounce, and a small chunk of some blue cheese also about an ounce. That was it! Yes there was an apple and a few leaves of salad. But ... total food was less than half a cheese sandwich. The pork pie option removed two of the three pieces of cheese and substituted the tiniest pork pie you ever saw. Photos attached. These "meals" were not food but snacks. After paying bill of more than £30, I felt royally cheated. And so I had been. Avoid.

We were sat next to a window adjacent to the noisy A12, we had to endure listening to a radio station playing dreadful 1970s and 80s pop music. Everyone there was dressed in scruffs, including the waitresses. Service is utterly charmless. This place offers okay fast food but with undeserved high prices. Nothing on the menu appealed. Pork and smoked sea food features and the usual battered fish, burgers and chips. There are much better places to eat in the vicinity for the same price.

As a fan of Adnams ales and being a visitor to the area, we took a well meaning recommendation and visited the White Hart for dinner. My immediate impression was the smell of fish in the restaurant/bar area. Granted, fish is one of their specialities (apparently - not tested) but the smell was slightly off putting. We ate outside in the garden which at dusk was alive with flying ants and gnats - not entirely unexpected given its proximity to water and the heat. The garden is large and the views across the river/estuary are nice.

I’ve always thought the White Hart was the perfect place to eat but this time completely disappointed at selections very uninspiring - had sandwiches that were very nice but it was placed on a horrible chopping board and also partners(burger) was on an old chopping board - what’s the matter with plates ? I found toilets not very clean - doors to and from toilets were filthy - only needed a wipe down - we were there when it wasn’t particularly busy too , early evening , just needs a bit more effort putting into it. Staff pleasant enough

After a disappointing visit to Southwold yesterday which was very busy and nowhere to park for lunch anywhere, we drove out and both being very hungry we thought we'd try "that pub at Blythburgh that we always drive past!" Well, we were not disappointed! We had a very friendly welcome on arrival at the bar and spent a long time studying the extensive and interesting menu. Eventually my partner opted for the Soup of the Day (spiced kidney bean and bacon) followed by Cromer crab and horseradish potato salad, and I skipped the starter, having spotted summer pudding and clotted cream on the dessert menu, and opted for the Blythburgh rack of pork with mashed potato and tender stem broccoli. All these, except the soup, were on the specials menu. As it was a beautiful sunny day we opted to sit in the garden, where we had lovely views of the river and gardens. My partner's soup arrived and was delicious, and the main courses were both excellent. Dessert was the perfect ending to a lovely meal and my partner opted to just have a cappuccino. We were both so pleased that Southwold was so busy or we would never have found this lovely pub/restaurant. Also pleasantly surprised at a very reasonable bill. Can't wait to go back as there were so many tempting dishes on the menu we want to try.

Me and group of friends came here for a work outing and overall was very impressed. Service was attentive and friendly throughout the duration of our visit, the food was excellent, the Sticky Toffee Pudding in particular being a real stand out highlight for me, the only thing I had an issue with was the Pint of Adnams Samba City I ordered being vinegary, whilst it was dealt with quickly and I got another drink it was disappointing that with being plastered as an Adnams Pub the Pint I got was off. However despite this criticism with everything else being positive I would return again no question.
