Absolute gem of a hotel. Very cute twin room with everything you’d expect from a hotel. Staff were incredibly polite and attentive. The breakfast was included in our rate and it was one of the best I’ve had, quality food and perfectly poached eggs. My daughter wasn’t feeling too well so they made her a breakfast for me to take back to our room. Easy transport to Wallingford via the X40 bus. Will definitely stay again if we are in the area and would certainly recommend. Thank you ☺️

We stayed here for one night and enjoyed it! Location: Remote village although close to Oxford and other nearby towns, the actually place doesn’t have many amenities although does have a co op opposite! We really enjoyed the local short walks before we checked out. Staff: Staff were friendly and nice during our stay. Breakfast: Big breakfast and you get coffee/toast and cereal too so very filling! Room: We asked for a slightly accessible room due to me being pregnant. The room we were given was very big however very dark! And I think in hindsight I wouldn’t mind going to another room if it meant it was less old perhaps. We could also hear the people above us but that might come with the building. The facilities and room was quite outdated but it was very quaint with wooden beams etc. our toilet got blocked and I did inform staff but it didn’t get resolved before we left. We could use the loo by reception at least in the morning. Our hairdryer also didn’t work which was a shame. Not sure it was worth what we paid (£135) for the night, I would’ve expected slightly cleaner room/bathroom and no blocked toilet and a hairdryer that works. But it was nice that breakfast was included.

Very rude barman. Arrived to have supper we made our way into the bar area and the Barman rudely told us to ‘move away from bar as its was evidently ‘Men’s night’ . He did not offer to take us through to the Restaurant area he was just so rude and he then ignored us when we tried to talk to him. Needless to say we left to eat somewhere else. I phoned to complain to the Manager this morning. I was told he would call but I’m still waiting and it’s 6pm!!

It was ‘taco’ night when we went. The food was absolutely superb. Everything was home made, including the tortilla chips. The lovely young chef, Connor, came out and chatted. We visited whilst on a boat trip on the Thames so my only disappointment is that we don’t live near this restaurant and can’t go regularly.

I highly recommend the White Hart Hotel for a cozy and historic experience in Dorchester! The 16th-century charm was undeniable, and the overall stay was very pleasant. Location & History: Nestled in the heart of Dorchester, the White Hart's historical significance adds a truly unique touch to your stay. It's like stepping back in time! Room & Comfort: Our room was comfortable and clean, with plenty of character. The age of the building certainly adds to the ambiance. Breakfast: While the included breakfast was good, it could benefit from more options, especially for vegetarians. Perhaps adding some local specialties or lighter fare would elevate the experience. Parking: Having free parking onsite was a huge plus, especially in a historic town like Dorchester. It certainly eased the stress of our stay. Overall Impression: Despite the small breakfast misstep, the White Hart's charm, history, and comfort shine through. We had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and characterful experience in Dorchester. Just be sure to consider the historic nature of the building and the potential limitations for modern amenities. Additional Tips: If you're vegetarian, it might be good to inquire about breakfast options in advance or prepare to supplement with additional choices.

The property is lovely, it's such a nice venue, even more so with the Xmas decorations and lights. All the staff were polite, and genuinely friendly, there was a nice vibe all round at The White Hart. We also dined there that evening and the food was outstanding, we both had the Christmas Turkey and trimmings, it should be on the menu every Sunday, loved it. We'll definitely be back again for more visits, as it's a great location. A big Thanx to Jonathan, went above & beyond for us, much appreciated!

It's difficult to fault, I think the only thing I could pick was that the shower head didn't spray as such, just shot you with plenty of hot water. Other than that, which is me scoring them 99% rather than 100, everything else was really really good. Certainly a place we will stay again. Very helpful as we arrived shortly before the restaurant took last orders, and departed before the official start for breakfast - we asked the night before and they provided a couple of bacon sandwiches to go as we checked out. This is what the hospitality business needs. Well done all.

Sat down with a Groupon voucher, we were never explained that this does not cover the full amount of price, we were rather lead to the impression that we could order anything with a bill coming over 70 pounds. The restaurant were execellent in rushing their starters through and delaying our main so that all of the food arrived at the same time. The food choice was excellent and everyone was more than happy with the quality of the food. The wine choice was also very good and we would definitely return. For the price, the rooms were okay. They were a little dirty and one of the spot lights did fall out of the ceiling in the bathroom, but otherwise, the bed was comfy and I had everything I needed. Dinner was also okay, I had the pork belly but it didn't come with a sauce or gravy to tie the dish together so it ended up being a bit dry. Breakfast was sub par. I did expect better. All in all, I will consider staying again, but I think by spending a little extra, you could get a bigger room and an altogether nicer experience.

Myself and my husband stayed for 2 nights for our anniversary. The dinner and breakfasts were fantastic ; we both thoroughly enjoyed it. The main problem was where our bedroom was. The 1st night was fine as no-one was next door, the 2nd night was horrendous. There bathroom must back onto the wall our bed is and the noise from the shower was horrendous. Our neighbours were showering past 11.45 pm for what must have been over half an hour so it woke us up. And then it went again at 4.30am for over an hour which meant no sleep was had from there on. I then had to drive 2 hours home and didn't wait for checkout at 11,..we left at 9 just so I could ho home to sleep. It really was a shame because it would have been a nice stay. Unfortunately the noise was beyond bearable!.

Disappointed overall. Went here with my wife for a lunchtime treat, service was great. Only moan was the ploughman’s lunch meal. I expected a meal fit for a farmer to go out and work the fields afterwards, instead I had a small triangle of cheddar cheese, a small slice of ham, 4 x 2 inch fingers of focaccia bread, a few silver skin pickled onions and some pickle all served with a few lettuce leaves on a slate. Thank god I ordered chips to go with it otherwise I would have been left hungry! On the other hand my wife had the chicken and bacon Caesar salad which was huge! Real food envy going on there I can tell you!! Sandwiches would have been a better choice as they looked lovely! Oh well live and learn! Only choose the ploughman’s if you are after a little snack.

We stayed here some years ago and returned as part of a siblings and cousins get together. The hotel has been renovated nicely since our last stay and we found the bedrooms exceeded our expectations. Our only concern about the room was we had no way of turning off the heated towel rail, making the bathroom roasting on a hot summer’s day. Bed and other furnishings were good quality and comfortable. Staff were all friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The only reason we gave 4 rather than 5 stars was because the restaurant food was overcooked. The eggs at breakfast both mornings were like bullets and the ‘rare’ steaks in the evening had almost reached cremation stage. The young waiter was informed, but other than “I’m sorry about that”, no other action was taken. All in all we had a very pleasant stay, despite the culinary disappointments.
