Lovely vegan hot chocolate but you might go hungry if you have an allergy: I asked if any of the cakes was dairy free and they said they didn't know and wouldn't be able to find out.

What a fab cafe - been walking to Goring from Tilehurst on a regular basis on a weekend. What a great place to stop off and grab some brunch / lunch. The staff, who are on the whole in their teens are extremely polite and attentive. Had the homemade sweet potato soup with a hint of chilli today which was delightful. My wife had a fried egg bap which she thoroughly enjoyed. A fantastic eatery!! - oh and the milk shakes are a must also ! Highly recommend.

I was keen to support a local business on a visit to Artists in Goring so chose the Village Cafe for lunch with friends. There was a steady stream of customers served by young friendly staff so I was happy with the quoted 30 minutes wait for my cheese and ham panini. It did mean that some of my group had finished their lunch before others had received their orders or other people's orders or were informed that the cream tea they had ordered had been put through as a Coke. We never did find out who ended up with the scrambled eggs we were twice offered. My favourite moment was when the woman in the queue ahead of me asked for a strawberry milkshake, was told that isn't something they offered, so she turned round and pointed to the specials board that had only one thing written on it in large letters - 'Strawberry milkshake'. Tasty food, lovely people, relaxed atmosphere, nice setting, great fun

Wow! The All-Day breakfast was quality, served quickly and piping hot, proper cut tomato not tinned. Decent sausage and bacon, the toast was yummy. loads of butter available and genuine HP and Heinz ketchup. The coffee tasted top class and was served very hot and with heated milk in mini churns. The venue is comfortable and clean, pricing is low for what you get. The staff are very attentive. Free WiFi too. Well worth a visit, car park is just a street behind and first hour is free! The counter has plenty of other yummy treats such as cakes and shakes.

We have been going for many years after hiking. It used to be a very nice café with lovely food but the quality has gone down significantly. On our last visit it was left to three youngsters to manage it and to make things worse most of the food ran out at 2 pm. Not the kids fault, they did their best and were nice and polite but the owner needs to rethink what the are doing. It is unacceptable.

All the cakes are home made and fabulous selection of hot and cold drinks The hot chocolate menu is amazing and they were fabulous, even tweaked to personal preference. A little pricey but worth it for a treat. Toilets were a let down, not very clean and wet floors. Not a beautiful location as on the main road, edge of the arcade, but close tongue river. We happened to stumble on this little cafe whilst enjoying exploring the Goring area. The four of us just had hot drinks and a slice of cake, but we all delighted in our respective selected flavours of cake and my hot chocolate was utterly delicious. It was an intensely rich flavour and the excellent quality of it should have been promoted on the counter at the entrance. It transpired, when I looked at the menu detailing the origins of the cafe, that it's affiliated to another local cafe which is renowned for it's hot chocolate drinks. I really think more should be made of this fact!

The website about ‘The Chocolate Cafe’ made it sound very smart and very different and exciting. One of the ladies in charge was charming and pleasant, the other a little dour, but neither was wearing a mask, which, in a food shop in an area swarming with Covid (we were wearing ours out of courtesy to people in shops and elsewhere), was, we felt, unacceptable; the result was that our cakes were, inevitably, breathed on and we had my 96 year old mother with us. The drinks were good, but our ‘rocky road’ had been made with less than inspiring chocolate, so a little disappointing. We sat outside (under the Arcade it’s nice and sheltered) and the table had been cursorily wiped, but was crumby and looked grubby: we asked for a clean up, which was given willingly enough. The whole place, however looked a little shabby and could do with a face lift (see below!) The cakes looked wonderful and there is so much potential at this cafe for a really splendid experience - a little more attention to hygienic detail and some really smart decor would be reassuring.

Completely ignored by the serving woman who then set about dealing with the customer who had been behind me. We visited the cafe in June on a nice sunny day. My wife wanted a banana split, but the lady said they did not have any bananas. Then my wife decided to have some ice cream, and I saw some raspberries near the freezer. I said could we have some of those, and the lady said no they were frozen. I ordered a panini and cappucino. The cappucino came quickly, but the panini took ages to come and I had to enquire where it was. By this time my wife had finished her ice cream. I could clearly see that only one lady was in the kitchen, because it is visible from the downstairs sitting area. Not to the high standard we receive from its sister restaurant in Henley, and the service could have been much better. Maybe more staff, and a complete refit of the cafe as it looks tired and worn out?

Went to The Village cafe with friends to get some paninis for lunch for a walk. Absolutely appalled by what was handed over - a clearly microwaved rubbery, anaemia ham & cheese, pathetic excuse for a panini. It hadn’t been anywhere near a grill! This inedible mass cost £6.50 but your supposed to feel like this is reasonably priced because it includes a bag of crisps with it! A panini is supposed to be GRILLED NOT MICROWAVED - customers are made to wait outside (I was the only customer inside so no excuse to send me out due to fear of Covid) so that staff can use microwave without you seeing this. Feel absolutely cheated will NEVER come to this rip off joint again! DISGRACEFUL.

Ordered a tuna jacket potato for lunch, it was ok at best so sadly I wouldn't return. The positives, it was a good sized portion and the side salad was decent. The potato itself was not the best I've had, wasn't hot enough and skin a little soggy, although it was a take away so perhaps that might have affected it (but I ate it within a minute of taking away so...). The tuna with mayo was stone cold which wasn't enjoyable, a few seconds in the microwave would have made a world of difference. It needed more mayo as well as it was quite dry. No melted cheese either, there was cheese, but didn't even slightly melt as everything else was cold. It cost about £7 so I expected more. It was edible but I couldn't recommend overall as I won't be returning, sorry.

Beautiful sourdough bread killed by cheap sausage "filling" . £7 for a single supermarket sausage, some slivers of streaky bacon in poorly cooked, dry bread. One slice crispy the other raw as though the toaster was broken. Table next to us had same issue. Portugese custard tart and coffee were excellent.

Lovely pub, fantastic food and fairly priced for the quality. Have eaten here 4 times, 3 in the private room at the front. Most recently we dined as a group of 9. Service was slow for a Tuesday night. Felt a little forgotten about. They didn't have the wine we wanted to order by the bottle, clearly popular. The reccomended alternative was excellent though. Food as ever was spot on though. Never had a bad meal here. Would absolutely recommend 👌
