Have only visited the barn, so cannot comment on pub. Was really disappointed to find they had changed the barn menu from pizzas and burgers to a handful of quite expensive main courses. We popped in after a walk to the new menu, to be told it had changed with little explanation and then to be told they also couldn't do any of the toasties so there was little in the way of lighter bites. Had a mismatched meal of salads, chips and a roast chicken and beef. Partner said chicken was flavourless with was disappointing for £19. Drinks also very expensive. Most expensive pint we have found in the area! And £16 for mya glass of my usual wine was excessive. Under the list of "Puddings" there was only one pudding. We liked it last time as there were some books/toys for the kids but these were quite dirty and disregarded. Staff were young but polite. Pastries were nice but that was the only redeeming part. Would not visit again.

A beautiful barn in the grounds of the pub, sadly having visited twice now and both times having to wait ages for a coffee and food which when arrives is n the verge of being cold. Sausage rolls that come heated were partially warm. I ordered avocado on toast with poached egg. I’ve thrown better avocados away, it was brown and bitter and the poached egg was hard and cold. It’s such a shame, everything is there for it to be absolutely amazing sadly for us it’s just a cake and coffee stop, something that can’t be messed up by the kitchen.

Every one of the staff at the Bottle and Glass were fantastic. Friendly, welcoming, efficient and hospitable. Our room was lovely (although the sound of the chillers was audible at night with the windows open), and the food and service at every mealtime was faultless. With beautiful walks on the doorstep, this is the perfect place to stay, including for our dog!

Three of us had a good lunch today. However, not impressed to be charged £5 for olives and £5 for bread when the menu has prices of £4 for each of them, which is more than enough. Also, I note I was charged £1.75 for extra gravy! I don't think I have ever been charged extra for additional gravy anywhere else.

I fondly remember the Bottle and Glass from many years ago, alas no longer- children jumping on and off the tables and generally running wild, incompetent bar staff and can’t buy a drink with cash. This is how to spoil a potentially wonderful country pub!

The service, environment and food were good but two dogs were at the next (very close) table. Dogs in a restaurant are not acceptable. These dogs also kept invading our space and the chef arrived and gave the dogs food by hand, did he wash after? I was a returning customer but no more there are many alternatives.

Rooms are ok. The one I stayed in was rather small and was a bit tired and in need of some maintenance like the toilet roll holder that kept falling off the wall and the shower valve handle that was loose. I couldn’t find a hairdryer either. Not sure if I was just being a bit stupid and missed it but that would be a good addition. Breakfast was ok even if it was a bit slow. Seemed like the accommodation was run completely separately so the staff in the pub didn’t know the answers to some questions and couldn’t help when I asked for synthetic pillows instead of feather ones. More training on the EV chargers and how guests can use them would also be helpful. I’ve stayed in worse places.

Wonderful stay in an idyllic location. The Bottle and Glass Inn is off the beaten track, but once you arrive it’s lovely to be looked after so well. We stayed for one night as a break from the hustle and bustle of city life and we’re so glad we did. Our room (number 3) was beautifully decorated, with a freestanding bath in the room, complete with lovely toiletries and fluffy towels. The bed was cosy and comfortable and the wet room was a delight! We enjoyed the most amazing evening meal- Cote de Boeuf, complete with a delicious bottle of red wine and in the morning were served breakfast, with all locally sourced products, cooked to perfection. But the highlight was the hospitality shown to us by everyone who works at The Bottle and Glass- they may have been short staffed on occasion, but everyone was so friendly and welcoming. We loved our stay and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

So so disappointed after going for a birthday meal with a friend here today. The staff couldn’t have been any ruder or less welcoming - unless you were the large table drinking bottles of champagne in the corner, who they were waiting on hand and foot! I asked for salt for my potatoes and was shouted at by the manager as he felt I was being offensive to their seasoning. In actual fact I just like salt on my roast potatoes. All toilets were blocked, no hand soap available, and the roast dinner came out and went cold whilst I was queueing for the one available loo. Food arrived 3 minutes after ordering so certainly wasn’t freshly cooked by any stretch of the imagination. Was so looking forward to coming here as had seen great things online - and am thoroughly disappointed. Please do not waste your time and money going here as you will be spoken to like dirt on their shoe!!

I generally don't write poor review about someone's business but feel Sunday lunch on the 31st March was so disappointing it requires comment. We were told on booking that we'd only have the table for 2 hours as they were fully booked. This was fine with us as we had a baby in our party and needed to lunch quickly anyway. Despite three young waiters milling around behind the bar, it took over half an hour to take our order and this was only after the manager/owner yelled at his employees in front of customers (not an ideal way to treat staff even if they weren't doing their job properly). I'd also add that nobody, including the manager, offered an apology for the delay and I thought perhaps the manager might have taken our order himself but maybe it was below him? Anyway, our order was finally taken and the waiter asked if there was anything else we needed, we suggested a drink might be nice! When our starters arrived, we only received 3 of the four plates ordered and again had to chase the wait staff for the fourth order. After about 15 minutes, the fourth plate arrived and that person ate alone as the others had eaten theirs to avoid food going cold. To say the starters were disappointing is an understatement, the beetroot and goats cheese salad was awful. The beetroot undercooked and there must have been a goats cheese shortage as you really had to rummage in the rocket to find any. The potato and leek soup was tasteless and less than appetising. The late dish, a chicken terrine looked a bit like a dry chicken sausage. On to the mains which did arrive in a timely manner but were so disappointing. Given we were early in the lunch service, I'd hate to see the food of later patrons. Our roast was overcooked, potatoes dry, cabbage soggy and wet and the gravy was like water. I'm not sure if the B&G have a new head chef but the food bore no resemblance to past Sunday roasts we've enjoyed. To top off a very poor lunch, we were reminded that we needed to vacate the table! Incredible given the wait staff's tardiness. Needless to say, we didn't get a pudding but that was probably a blessing. At no point did we receive an apology from any of the staff/manager and I'm not one to fuss or try to get a discount. I will just vote with my feet and not return.

If you are looking for a very average Sunday roast then this is the place. Fine dining it is not. When the manager asked if everything was Ok with the meal, he was not interested in the constructive feedback given. Sunday roast mains were overloaded and poorly presented with Yorkshire piled on top of vegetables. Fish dish well cooked but lacking vegetables. Vegetarian plate was bland - to say the least. Price was ok but still came away disappointed. Would not recommend.

I was really excited to go here for my birthday meal, having been impressed by what I saw on social media. The pub itself is in a beautiful spot with a fantastic walking route behind it which we thoroughly enjoyed. It is decorated very well and also very clean. The food was delicious and on the whole reasonably priced. Unfortunately what let it down was the slow service - it took two hours to get our mains and we just about managed to order one drink an hour. The table behind us were close to walking out entirely. The servers seemed to be trying hard, however it was clear they didn't have enough staff nor enough experienced staff as the two more senior employees were running around like mad and I suppose they can only do so much. When the mains came a side was missing, we chased it but we'd finished our food and it still hadn't come so we said not to bother. I was most disappointed that not one apology was given for the slow service, missing items or incredibly long wait for food - when we chased we simply got "well we're very busy, everything is full" when we were sat opposite the patio with about ten empty tables and inside was not full either. We were expecting a discount or such to compensate which we were not offered, and when we said we'd be paying half the 12.5% service and explained why they made further excuses without a sorry. Sadly it was enough to ruin our experience and I'm not sure I'd go back. However when it did come, the food was delicious.

We went for a Sunday lunch as two couples, choosing the venue based on reputation, past experience and online menu. The first disappointment was the menu we were presented with did not match the advertised online menu and the venue could not provide the menu items that were missing. This presented a limited choice compared to what we expected. I had a venison starter and the meat was very, very dry. I didn't mention it as the rest of the table had other dishes and I didn't want to make a fuss. We all had the beef main course and were all disappointed with the quality of the meat. It was very rare (not a problem in itself) but it was almost impossible to cut and very chewy. One of us had a slice that was worse than the others and had it replaced. The initial response from the waiter was that the meat all came from the same joint and was 35 days aged, frankly that is irrelevant if someone can't cut their meat never mind eat it. The rest of us struggled on but nobody was happy. When my wife quietly mentioned at the end that her meat was also tough, she got the same rebuttal. I had one whole slice of beef along with a collection of 'bits', however only the single slice could be cut so the rest of the fatty chewy meat went back to the kitchen. The plate was mostly yorkshire pudding. The serving of vegetables was miserable and we had to twice ask for more gravy as what was provided was not close to adequate. The cabbage served was mostly stalks. This was our first meal out as a group and everyone was reluctant to ruin the day by complaining but on reflection we all agreed it was overpriced and very underwhelming. It never helps when the reaction to feedback is pushback - nobody wants to ask for a replacement meal, nobody was asking for discount. If a customer says they can't eat their meal, it shouldn't turn into a debate.

The weekday set lunch here is amazing value and the food is delicious. Interesting, unusual. Their set lunch includes a glass of wine or soft drink and costs as much as a single main course would in other places. I have been there just as a couple, and also with a party of 20 people and they all wanted to go again soon. It's necessary to book because even though it is out of the way in a little village called Binfield Heath near Henley, news travels and it always seems to be fully booked.

I really used to like Bottle & Glass but I feel it's given itself over to the muddy boot, screaming kids with dogs brigade. I have no issue with dogs, mud or screaming kids, but in the bar only. You can't put yourself out there as a high end gastro pub / restaurant, charge £40 for a steak but then allow the dining experience to descend into much alike to a rowdy creche. Won't be returning.

We went for the 'teepee' experience, which was probably not the best decision in winter. It was freezing cold, covered in mud, and not iverly clean overall. Children were running in and out, with the door open, and as it was raining, so it resulted in mud everywhere, making it very slippy. The pavement leading to the teepee was thick with mud. The menu, in this part of the business, is extremely limited with hardly any sides (salad/olives) and no desserts available. Burger is just a burger as they 'dont do fries'. Maybe all this should be pointed out when reserving so an informed decision can be made? At one point, a lady was changing her child's nappy on the dining table..........granted nothing to do with the business, but also nothing was said by staff......... The one good thing is the staff are exemplary in their attitude and attentiveness. Otherwise, score would have been a score of 1!

First time we’d eaten here as a friend moved locally and suggested we try. The pub itself is lovely and has a nice friendly vibe. The restaurant is nicely set out and we had high hopes. We had 2 glasses of house red ( very good ) and an alcohol free beer. Snack starters were Cod Croquettes, delicious but only three of them and very tiny. Mackerel Pate was so delicious and decent size but accompanying crisp breads were a tiny portion. Luckily we had also ordered Soda bread for the table so could use this. Mains were two Fish and Chips, these were very average for the high price. I had the Sea Bream on a risotto base, again very average / bland for the price. I’ve had much better Sea Bream at Cote. To finish, one cheese board, it was ok but we had to ask for more crackers as only a few were provided. Black Forest trifle was excellent. The staff were very helpful and attentive but I wouldn’t eat here again. I’m happy to pay for good quality food but this was more pub grub quality for the main courses. Bill over £150 for 3 people at lunchtime I feel is steep for the food quality / taste.

This is a bijou gastro-pub and our first visit. It has 3 bedrooms, all modernised and tastefully furnished with very comfortable beds. The rooms are quiet and relaxing. The staff were all lovely - very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The pub has quite a large dining room in a new extension at the rear. It offers a set menu on certain days and an À la carte. We opted for the set menu as it was well balanced and also included a glass of wine, all in for £25. It was well presented and delicious. What's not to like? If you're working, be warned breakfast isn't served until 9:00am, but it's well worth waiting for as the chefs prepare it. We stayed for two nights at the bottle and glass in their stunningly modern but country feel styled rooms. The rooms have excellent facilities and tea/coffee. We stayed in room 3 which had a roll top bath in the bedroom, it was absolute bliss! We didn’t realise until the second morning that breakfast was included in our stay (our fault for not reading properly!), the full breakfast was gorgeous and food of very high quality, you could just tell! Everything cooked to perfection and generous portions. We booked to eat in the pub restaurant one of the evenings, my husband had the partridge wellington and I had the sirloin steak, again both delicious and cooked perfectly. The staff were extremely helpful and welcoming. We feel terrible because we couldn’t remember the gentleman who welcomed us and basically looked after us for our whole stay, he was South African which should narrow it down! He made us feel so comfortably and couldn’t do enough to ensure we had everything we needed. Couldn’t recommend enough, I really can’t believe the negative reviews and definitely not reflective of the experience we had. Thank you so much for the fabulous stay! We will be back! Becky & Lloyd

Sunday lunch for my birthday with daughters, husbands and grandson. No high chairs available. Wrong drinks brought; confusion as to whether we had been served gin instead of Seedlip non-alcoholic, wrong beer. Asked twice for water to be replenished to no avail. Empty glasses not cleared. Large glass of red wine spilled from tray-height across the length of the table which completely ruined grandson’s new book. Pooled into my lap, soaked nearest daughter, even reached son-in-law (wearing white top) at opposite end of table. Lovely waiter VERY apologetic but really felt resulting chaos might warrant response from manager which wasn’t forthcoming. Service SO SLOW. Meal was 3 hours+ end to end, and we didn’t have starters. With a three year old in tow this necessitated several trips outside! Meat VERY rare (was that why we waited an hour and a half?) vegetables undercooked (ok for some veg but not parsnips and potatoes). Desserts patchy: crumble resembled granola. Adjustment to bill amounted to taking off dessert price from two course menu (though they still tried to charge for child’s ice cream and £5 supplement for cheese); we felt that this would be an adequate adjustment for the slow, poor service but in no way compensated for the red wine spillage which will involve purchase of replacement book, dry cleaning / washing of clothes etc Manager really didn’t seem that interested. He never came to speak to us, I had to seek him out. We’ve been patronising the pub for many years and determinedly supported them through lockdowns but this will absolutely be our last visit.

Visited for a family birthday and we were really disappointed by the service - it took 3 hours for Sunday lunch, which wasn’t easy with a toddler. It was over an hour before the mains hit our table, and prior to that, we had an incident where the waitress couldn’t remember whether the non-alcoholic drink ordered by one person was actually gin or not, but when we pressed for an answer she said ‘well I don’t know, I didn’t take the order!’, and then another waiter dropped a glass of red wine down my mum, me, and my toddlers books. Whilst he was very apologetic, it was pretty shambolic. After asking how long our food was going to be, our mains eventually showed up. The roast beef was bloody it was so rare (unusual for a roast beef), and the battered fish was burnt. We were told we would have the mains removed from the bill to compensate for the wait and that we would have a round of drinks removed for the wine debacle. Having waited for 15 minutes after finishing eating our mains, we went to ask if we could have dessert, as no one had bothered to clear the table. These were also slow to come - one didn’t show up until a while after the others, and the crumble was burnt. When we came to pay, we were told that just the desserts had been removed (but not the surcharge on one of the desserts, and not our toddler’s dessert), and our bill also contained someone else’s coffee (which the waitress wasn’t remotely apologetic for adding mistakenly). The adult mains were £25 per person, which is expensive anyway, but when you’ve waited over an hour for it to hit your table, it’s unacceptable. We won’t be returning, and would suggest a serious overhaul of the service offering is undertaken, if you want to justify serving meals at that price point.

Nice pub/restaurant with friendly staff. Small menu in the evening but well cooked/presented. Would prefer more vegetables included on the plate not at £5 extra per vegetable.

Lovely pub and excellent food. I would have given 5 stars of it weren't for the fact that they charge more on s Sunday. The 2 course set menu is £32 on Sundays. I had one course and was charged £24.50 for the fish and chips, which on their main menu (not Sunday) is priced at £18.50. Left a slight aftertaste on what would otherwise have been a perfect meal. Worth mentioning that we were served by a lovely gentleman who lip-reads. His attentiveness was faultless. So, as I said, just a shame that my group of 8 felt sloglty cheated for being surcharged on a Sunday. I personally have not seen a pub do that before.

A charming barn pub with three rooms and an adjacent ‘burger barn.’ Full marks to Karl and Paul who are the hard working folk who run the place. Excellent selection of wines by the look of things. We had a light lunch before as wedding and then a fantastic full English while we recovered the day after! Excellent food and very nice decor. Thank you for looking after us!

The burger barn divides opinion, but the main dining room is altogether a different experience. On a summer evening a drink on the patio then dining in the modern, but sympathetically restored, main room is a treat. We had a wide range of dishes including good size steaks with fluffy and crisp chips, a perfectly cooked deer steak on white beans and nduja and a beautiful piece of fish. Desserts were superb, including a pistachio frangipane and burnt apricots with the creamiest almond ice cream you could imagine. The carte is good and there was also a very reasonable set menu. Special mention for our South African server, who was very jolly and got the balance of attentiveness and discretion spot on.

Lovely olde worlde pub in the sticks with great food. Just had lunch but good food at sensible price. Really enjoyed the Caesar salad for starter and Cornish Hake for mains both off the set menu with a glass of wine included

We decided to treat ourselves and tried the Glass and Bottle inn near Henley. Love the exterior of the pub,m with its authentic thatched roof. Equally love the inside with the wooden beams and the big tiles. We had the Ham croquettes, Scotch egg (made with black pudding), battered haddock. The chips are hand cut and delicious. Service by Paul was attentive and friendly. Would definitely recommend. You can tell the food is homemade.

A tasty set menu for lunch in the sunny garden was enjoyable as a good stopping place on our woodland walk and through the nearby Crowsley park.

Nice venue and really cool pub. Staff were actually very nice but just thought it was a bit stupid that it was only table service outside as that just meant you were sitting around for ages waiting for a pint with the poor servers running everywhere. Food was 👍

Lovely countryside restaurant / pub with a nice garden and terrasse. Not cheap but the quality is there. We had the chicken as starter and the flat iron and pasta for dinner. Everything was very good except the peppercorn sauce (just water?) and the pasta meal was fairly light.

Lovely place, lovely location. The staff were friendly and attentive. And the interior aesthetic was warm and welcoming. The menu is eclectic with something for everyone. The food is to a high standard and couldn't fault at all. Highly recommended. Will be returning next opportunity I have.

We checked availability and went in the day. They warned us there were a couple of large tables booked in and it could be noisy. In reality is was “humming” The menu is fantastic in the restaurant. Outstanding value with a small glass of wine and water included. Service very professional, attentive and engaging. They responded well by recognising we did not want a long lunch. My wife’s comment was that the tiramisu was the best she had tasted. Setting lovely. It seems the restaurant is completely different to the barn but you will not be disappointed with a three course lunch, small glass of wine, water and service charge for £51.m in the restaurant. We will be back.

overpriced - a staggering £12 for a white wine spritzer. Stupid system whereby you have to wait behind anyone ordering drinks to be sat at a booked table slow service there are far better about than this!

If you are going to have set lunches on your website then PLEASE HAVE THE GOOD MANNERS AND SENSE TO SAY WHEN EXACTLY THEY ARE AVAILABLE ON YOUR OWN WEBSITE! IT'S YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO DO SO AS OTHERWISE IT'S PLAIN DECEPTIVE! What should have been a nice birthday lunch with 5 guests was entirely marred today by this. Despite my fury I am pleased I managed to stay polite -though given the circumstances I was amazed that a £14 service charge was STILL ADDED. Certainly A birthday I will never forget for all the wrong reasons

We booked a table for Sunday lunch and upon arriving and walking into the main bar, we were given a very cold welcome bordering on rude by the 2 ladies behind the bar. We ordered some drinks and were told we’d be taken into the restaurant soon. We were seated at a table just as you went in, which was very tight so as other customers came in we were knocked. The bizarre thing is the two ladies that served us were the same two that has given us the cold welcome. It was really was bizarre as they were delightful and welcoming, we did wonder if they both had identical twins.

Lovely vegan hot chocolate but you might go hungry if you have an allergy: I asked if any of the cakes was dairy free and they said they didn't know and wouldn't be able to find out.
