Bit of a tourist spot. Went once and food was well below average I have also seen photos of them supporting illegal hunting, poor values.

We were looking for somewhere to go for a meal with friends and chose this hostelry on the recommendation of a Mancunian holidaymaker. This pub is just like pubs should be, a fine selection of beers/spirits and good food. The barman was very friendly and we felt quite comfortable with the locals. All four of us had the burger, which was very nice. The onion rings were delicious and the homemade coleslaw was also spectacular. My only criticism, and I am ridiculously fussy, was the chips. The burger came with seasoned fries, which I asked to swap for chunky chips as the seasoning isn't for me. The chunky chips came covered in seasoning!!! Not the end of the world, I scraped off as much as I could, but they should have been advertised as seasoned chunky chips. Nobody asked us if we had any allergies either, which is standard practice when you go out to eat these days. But, this is minor, the food was great and we will definitely return.

Visited twice for an off-season weekend - amazing to have somewhere that serves food all day (currently 5 days a week from 12 until 8) in a quiet Cornish village where options for hot food are limited. I'm here on a solo break, and I have been made to feel so genuinely welcome by staff (and locals have been kind too). The menu is very unpretentious and includes excellent pizzas. In these days of celebrity chefs (I live in another part of Cornwall), the White Hart is a real breath of fresh air. Really so grateful to the staff, a massive thank you!

We had supper here recently and couldn't help noticing that this was a traditional English pub. It appeared that many locals called in here for a quick pint on their way home from work. The atmosphere was dry friendly if a little noisy. My wife had s lasagne which she said was OK but I had a pizza which was excellent. The portions were very generous. All in all, a pleasant experience

We booked for Sunday lunch today and the whole experience did not disappoint. Lovely bar staff, friendly locals, very reasonable prices and the most enormous delicious roast. We had beef and pork. Next time we're over this way, we wouldn't hesitate to visit. Thanks to all.

We were in Cornwall for a few days and decided to go out to dinner. We had passed this pub earlier so decided to give it a go. Thank goodness we did we had the most amazing food hubby started with the mussels which he said we fantastic and the flavouring was spot on. I had the garlic mushrooms which melted in my mouth. I then had the chilli nachos which when they came out I thought I’ll never eat that but I did my best you just had to keep going back for more and hubby had the Cajun chicken on noodles which was lovely tender chicken with a nice heat of the spices. We then finished with a sticky toffee pudding and ice cream for me and honeycombe cheesecake and ice cream for hubby. We both left feeling fat and full. It was a great night with great friendly staff and the food was absolutely gorgeous. To top it all off we have come back for lunch today it was that good.

Staying locally we called into the White Hart to eat on a couple of evenings and were very impressed with what we found. Excellent menu with a good variety of options meaning that anyone could find something to eat. Prices were reasonable and portions were good as well and you can also take away as well - which we did one night with a dessert. Note they also do takeaway options as well and we saw a few people come in to order and take away to show that it is popular.Very friendly staff and a nice atmosphere where visitors felt welcomed as opposed to it being just a 'locals' pub.Noted that they had a very good Sunday roast menu which offered more choice than the Three Tuns did which was good to see. If we had known of this then possibly would have eaten here on the Sunday as well.Highly recommend here for a variety of meals and selection of beers as well

Pubs in this quaint village have had their good times and bad, and we've not used the White Hart for a number of years after it's competitor The Three Tuns changed hands and gained a good reputation for food. A reversal seems to be in the offing however, after having several extortionately priced and increasingly smaller meals in The Three Tuns, we decided to try The White Hart again, and were more than pleasantly surprised with what we found. Simply tasty, well prepared, notch above pub grub......food. Plus A beautiful pint of real ale to go with. If you happen on the quiz night however, you are in for a real laugh.

What we stumbled across was a fantastic local pub with a great atmosphere and bar staff willing to go the extra mile. There was no tables obviously available when we turned up but they managed to move some regulars around to ensure we had somewhere to eat. The food was very reasonably priced as were the drinks. The house curry was fantastic, and I'm advised that the gammon was also very nice. The portion sizes were very generous, and despite being advised that there would be a long wait, the food came quickly. The selection of beers, ciders and ales on offer was impressive as well. Was nice that we didn't have 2 go thru pub to get out. Had everything we needed. Only had breakfast here. Was really nice would have been better if they didn't deep fry the sausages and a choice to have brown toast would have been nice using better quality bread. Lady that did the brekkie was lovely. Room was lovely but more attention to cleaning wouldn't go a miss. Lots of dust in the rafters you could see while lying in bed. Corners of the bathroom needed attention. Overall room was clean. Nice country pub, full of locals, lots of fish being eaten, but alas the veggie options were the usual. Veg curry, lasagne etc. I went for the curry which had very little veg in it and the sauce tasted like a shop bought one, very watery. I added some chips which were a very small portion for £3 I felt. It came with a popadum and chutney, the popadum glistened with oil. It could have been an off night but I'm not so sure. The service and the staff were good though. I feel in this day and age where more and more people are choosing the veggie option, businesses really need to up their game a bit.
